Absolutely pointless patch... adding tedium for the sake of tedium. This won't change anything in the long-run, but it will make life harder (and even more boring) for those who work for a living, the solo player,  those that don't sell finished ships, and those who don't exploit the various bugs in the short run. You already had to spend most the game underground mining to do anything in this game and increasing the cost of one of the very few alternatives (which STILL requires mining a lot to get started) only serves to make this game worse. Those already rich and those that exploit various bugs won't even bat an eye at this unless you make the prices so ludicrous that it exempts solo players and small orgs from taking part in industry at all... and if that's the case you just made the largest portions of a games population in any MMO alienated.

As for the "You would be better off going to the market to buy at minimal cost from specialized producers competing against each other. " bit you have in the blog? You obviously don't realize people are going to add the cost of those schematics and other start-up costs to the product. The economy in this game is shit, yes, with nearly everything being at, or near, production cost on the market right now. The increase in market cost will be a welcome change for those like me who sell product on the market so I don't have to mine... but you're fooling yourself if you think it will be more cost-effective to buy off the market in the near future.

Worse yet is the introduction of the skills... as if industry didn't take to long already! I've got 700+ days qued right now and thats only for the - cost and + product skills for tiers 1-3 to finish off the last two levels to get to level 5!

This is truly frustrating for me... I love this game and it's the only one with the building system currently in existence, but you seemed damned determined to kill off your game with the trajectory that this and previous patches have followed... much less the rumors of future patches. Stop nerfing everything into the ground and fix your bugs! THEN focus on adding content. Nerfing and making things harder like this should be LAST on the agenda, not first.

I'm a pretty new player and spent a few weeks getting to grips with the game and finding my way around.  Its taken a long time and a lot of work to build a ship, lots of money repairing after learning to fly through smashing up on Alioth time and time again, and spent hours looking for T3+ ores, which have been totally unsuccessful. Even after 3+ hours each way flying to other planets to hunt, only to find that theyve been stripped bare.
Im not interested in joining an org, I want to play the game as an individual, but this step seems to make it even more impossible for new players to get to grips with Dual universe, and I honestly think that it will totally ruin the game for players like me.  Ive worked really hard to build a small factory to produce a Territory Scanner with ores that Ive laboriously mined, which has taken weeks.Without the ability to generate decent income you are effectively stuck, unable to be able to move forward.  It not even possible  to mine for decent ore to generate income as its been completely hoovered up everywhere.  Wouldnt it be better to somehow impose a levvy on larger factories to limit their output or profits rather than punishing small fry like me?
I still havent been able to afford a warp drive, and building a factory seemed like the only sustainable way to acheive this - so I hope you put things into place to help newbie players, who, by the time they have learned the game will be doomed to a poor, boring life on Alioth & Sanctuary!  And what happens to all the industrial units Ive slowly purchased that I will now need a huge investment to use? I honestly think that I will lose interest, just at a point where I felt I was getting somewhere....... .   .     .        .           .                   .                                             !

This update will only work if there is a full wipe or else big orgs just buy all recipes and dominate the game while the game gets even harder for small groups or solos who are struggling even now.

As far as I can tell, the problem with the markets is supply side. When I need something, half the time, it's not available on any market and even if it is, I have to fly to numerous remote markets to find everything I need.

How will this address is problem? I think it's pretty clear that it will exacerbate the problem. If stuff is too expensive to make, orgs will make stuff for their own use, but none of it will get to the markets. Assuming I can still afford to make fuel, I guess I'll fly my existing ships until the elements wear out and then quit the game, cause I won't be able to buy replacement parts. But since I'm just barely breaking even against fuel costs now, I don't really expect to be able to afford fuel.

Bugs are my biggie.  Today I reconnected to continue doing some territory scanning and the ship felt "funny".  Realized I didn't have a gyro displayed.  Log out and back in and it reappeared.  If I had been moving fast, that likely would not have ended well.

Squash the bugs, make the game stable, then wean us off our crutches.

Your nature, not mine.  Not a lot of people, excepting mostly  monotheist.  Kill to defend?  Sure, if absolutely necessary.  Kill for food - that is the nature of life.  Kill for fun?  No, not by a longshot.  Sad to be you.

Can I ask why you assume MASSIVE MULTIPLAYER means PVP?  Lore wise it makes ZERO sense - we just spent ~10,000 years to get to a new solar system and the first and most important thing we do is figure out how to kill each other?

Some of us hope for a better, peaceful, future...

Dang... I actually have to agree with Majestic on this one!   Without solo players new players are forced to join orgs, and given the worst jobs possible.  Not many are going to stick around long.  "Sorry dude, until you donate 100,000 M3 of each T1 ore, we are not going to give you a ship.  If you solo and try to go it alone, we are just going to blast you out of the sky".  Gee, what fun.

I feel we don't need new features that make this hardcore game more hardcore at this time.

We need to have more ores available to the game or it will have a short life span, even more now if we will be having to replace elements constantly through PvP.
I get the wanting to have different levels of assemblers for different tiers of items, but I feel that is not what we need right now. We need bug fixes before new content.

Yes and no, while we see a move toward re-usable components in rockets sure, there is still a of maintenance required to refurbish these to be ready for use again. That turnaround time will get shorter but will never go away.

NQ is doing what NQ does and that is choosing the easy way out of a "problem" because they do not have the resources to work out an actual solution to the problem.
To be honest the current mechanic is flawed to begin with as magically restoring an element to full health by somehow adding/applying "scrap" to it is at best a shortcut.

    Here's a better solution IMO:
Elements can be patched up when damaged, destroyed elements can only be removed/replaced

    Damaged elements
Players can craft "repair kits" which are tailored to the purpose for which they are used (engines/airfoil/adjustors/furniture.. etc) Repair kits will restore a damaged element to enough health to "get home" where the element needs to be removed and replaced. A repair assembly element of the correct size will then be able to repair the damaged element with new components. A repair assemble element can be fitted to a dynamic construct with M or L core to allow en-route repair as long as the needed components are in store on the construct. A patched up element is a most 80% functional and has less HP and so is at higher risk of getting destroyed. This creates the requirement to have it actually repaired and not left as-is.

    Destroyed elements
Players can remove these elements and replace them Destroyed elements can be recycled for a return of some of the original components/resources

    Additional elements
Mobile Nano Crafter which can craft any T1/T2 component up to L size and any T1 element up to M size at less efficiency/speed than industry. It can also craft Space Fuel. Can be placed on an M or L dynamic core.

The purpose of this element is to provide a "patch up" availability to be able to make it home and can craft repair kits.

There are some people that prefer the solo play style, what do they do? I thought DU was supposed to be played any way you want to play it.

    This argument is false.
Space industry is going into opposite direction. Trying to maximize usage times for engines etc.

Creating consumer demand by producing disposable goods is reason for current waste and pollution problems.

This is really redline for me. @NQ - game devs. Please do not implement this culture into this game. Game should be about future of humankind.

Also I'm totally not interested about real world problems. I play this game to forget all the sorrow and problems of real life.
If you bring those into this game they will constantly remind me about RL problems and I get bad feelings and don't play this game anymore.

You can thank your fellow players who abused the TP option and overloaded the support system on Discord where the tech support channel basically became a "get your free TP here" channel.

    Hello NQ-Naunet.

Thank you for providing us with the information ! Much appreciated.

Can you please describe what would happen in those scenarios please?:

    1) Ship X is firing on ship Y from 1 SU range. Ship Y pilot is hit and dies or logs off(or alt-f4 or game crash etc). Ship Y has no other pilots on board. Will ship Y continue to move ? Will it stop once the core is destroyed ?

    2) Ship X is flying toward a market district and is at 1 SU range from it, market district has N amount of players in it. Pilot flying ship X has game crash or does alt-f4. What will happen? Will the ship continue on like it's trajectory and crash ? (Does ECU has any effect here?)

    3) Ship X is in space at 30,000km/h. Only 1 player P on it and no other players in 10 SU range. Player P logs off or alt+f4. The ship will freeze(please correct me if I am wrong). What happens if another player approaches the ship while player P is logged off ? Will the ship start moving when another player approached it ? Will it be standing still and instantly gain 30,000 only when player P logs back in ?

We just travelled for close to 10,000 years and we don't have the technology to make things last a single year?  I'm OK with limited patch cycles (many games have the concept of durability, which gets reduced each time an item is repaired), but just using something shouldn't damage it - its against the game lore.

There needs to be another basic change, which I think would resolve a lot of the tower issues, mushroom stations, etc:  Have collision damage allocated as it is in real life - to both objects based on their mass.  If I run a massive L borg cube into a single wide voxel tower, the tower losses with minimum damage to the borg cube.  That is just physics.

Sure, but if one thing is considered unwanted for X reason then is another thing also applies to X reason it should also be considered unwanted.
Frankly "Maneuver tooling" stuff to space has less impact on other players and poses less of a, if any,  risk for other players than space elevator towers.

Nerfing Maneuver tool in the way NQ is doing it also impacts "benign" use of the tool in a negative way..

NQ has always said they do not want to interfere in the game and prefer a hands off approach to let players figure stuff out. It was a selling point on the KS pitch actually. On several fronts now, NQ has actively manipulated and limited the way we interact with the sandbox and there is more to come (Industry is next on the list)

I like the game, I really do.

But these changes along with the permanent element destruction will effectively punish you for playing the game as it is currently. I spent a great many hours building my ships and it just seems like it will all be for naught. God forbid I fly my M core or L core and the AGG turns off and deletes the tens of millions worth of elements on them.

I just canceled my auto renew sub. When NQ starts respecting the player's time I might renew, but for now I think I'll just let it go after it expires in a month.

It's a game, it should be fun to play, not a depressing job grind to replace elements constantly.

Maybe you should actually fix the AGG ships falling out of the sky before you introduce this change.  Some of us use this as a workaround to that particular bug, and this will make AGG more or less worthless.

First of all: Thanks for breaking the Borg Cube Meta. Thanks a lot. Makes going into PvP zone more likely to me.

And about element destruction: Does that include elements being destroyed in simple crashes?

In the other hands: You're doing so much on the PVP side of the game...
    What about the non-PVP-Players?
