Even if I agree that this org should not be allowed, I had some fun to read the description.
You probably didn't have any bad intention creating it.

I would have join this org, I like the comparision with the christian church, even if I'm christian. And it would be a fun fan org about JC, as ingame the "supreme god" and "creator" would best describe himself and we owes much to him.

But I think also that you should have stop before you wrote :

Hi Raptor Jesus and welcome to the forum.

While we can understand this organization has been created with fun in mind, this organization is not legit for several reasons:
    - Creating an organization referring to people existing in real life (even in a funny way) is not allowed ("Jay Cee").
    - Creating an organization referring to religion existing in real life (even in a funny way) is not allowed (Name "Jesus" with a clear christian connotation behind).
    - Moreover, making an organization to vow a cult to a living person (even in a funny way) is not allowed ("Church of Jay Cee").

We can totally understand that these rules may appear pretty harsh, too serious, but these are the rules to avoid any unecessary conflicts or controversies and they should be respected.
Therefore, this organization will be deleted soon and we ask you to change your display name.
To make this perfectly clear, we will update both forum rules and community portal rules soon.

    Thank you for your understanding.

    Best Regards,
    Nyzaltar.

    Hi everyone,

So it seems that BlueDrake42 has a vendetta against our game for no apparent reason (if there is one, we will be interested to know it).
As we can't remain silent against such diffamatory talk, here is our answer:
In this video, you can see that our battlecruisers are made with voxels, and arent' meshes as supposed in BlueDrake42 last video on Dual Universe.

    @Pittouniata:
Your signature and your posts will be edited as they are definitely inappropriate and diffamatory.
If you persist in this behaviour, you'll be banned. This is the first and last warning.

When you die I believe you'll have an option to select from Resurrection Nodes within range. It would clearly and easily be abused by people if you were forced to use the same one that's closest to you over and over again.

Being an item, yes well be able to tag them in various ways. Party only, organisation only, public, etc.

Not known if the Novark resurrection node is special. I would assume it probably is and has infinite range. So if you die somewhere far off in the edge of nowhere youll always have one place to re-spawn at.

Don't let anyone fool you, NQ has not explicitly stated the operational mechanics of the RN's. Even if they've said vaguely that they take a lot of power or have recharge timers, the context of what they mean by that isn't well understood.

Does it mean that if you die repeatedly that you have a longer death cooldown. or can the node only spawn 1 person per minute. because obviously at times more than 1 person will die within a short period of time and people arent going to wait around a half an hour to rez.

NQ arent fools and they arent going to intentionally implement broken game mechanics that allow people to be captured and forced into slavery, good luck trying, If I notice its broken like that in alpha Ill be submitting long well planned solutions to make the game playable.

Morand reacted to NQ-Nyzaltar in Fan Fiction Guidelines
As you may already know, Dual Universe will be different from many MMORPGs due to its Sandbox aspect.
One of the particularities is to make the evolution of the storyline directly tied to what happens in-game. This might include the integration of fan fictions in the official storyline. However, it won't be possible to make it happen without a few rules that will preserve consistency and equity among players.

Of course, it's totally possible to write a Fan Fiction without strictly following the official lore.
In that case, keep in mind a few things:
    - You cant' use Dual Universe nor Novaquark in the tittle of your fan fiction.
    - You must put the tag [Non-Canon] in the title of the Fan Fiction
    - You must put the tag [Fan Fiction]  in the title if you publish the text anywhere else than the official forum.
    - Do not expect to see the Fan Fiction integrated to the official storyline.
    - Expect many players to ignore it in their roleplay, as for keeping consistency when roleplaying with each other, it's only natural that players aim to have the same lore references.

Now about the necessary rules to follow if you want to see your fan fiction integrated in the official storyline:

    - Please read the official storyline first.
    - The fan fiction should be compatible with what is known from the Dual Universe backstory so far. Nothing in the fan fiction should be contradictory with what has already been published. Note: an important Lore update is planned for Tuesday 15th of November 2016. This might give you answers to a lot of questions you migh have until now. It's highly recommanded to not set into stone what you have imagined for your fan fiction before having read this update, if you aim to see the fan fiction integrated.
    - The content of the fan fiction must not include content from another game of fiction universe.
    - The fan fiction should not give any status advantages on specific Player Characters over others. Example: a Player Character involved in a fan fiction can't become the captain of an Arkship or the Prime Minister of a country prior to the Arkship Launch, just because the author of the fan fiction has decided this.
    - No alien creature should be involved.
    - Physical violence should be limited (No gore or similar things).
    - Verbal violence and cursing is tolerated but must stay limited.
    - Explicit sexual content isn't allowed.
    - Hate speeches toward real people, real ethnic groups, real religions isn't allowed.
    - Real politics proganda isn't allowed.
    - If the fan fiction is integrated to the official lore, you accept to transfer to Novaquark the right of using the fan fiction content for promotional purpose of the game, without expecting any additional reward or financial compensation in return.
    - Ultimately, Novaquark staff reserves the right to validate or not a fan fiction in the official storyline. That being said, we will try our best to integrate as many as possible, and will help writers in this direction if they ask for help.

Of course, we remain open to the community feedback and suggestions to improve these guidelines!
These guidelines will be updated on Tuesday, 15th of November 2016.

    Best regards,
    The Novaquark Team.

today, I am here on behalf of Objective Driveyards to propose a beneficial offer.
We would like to propose the creation of a Company-wide Expo to showcase the greatest technologies, accomplishments and designs the shipbuilding industry can offer.
Participating in alpha and beta will be free for everyone interested and may help each of us to improve our reputation and make our names known.
We ask your participation in this Expo as a joint project between many ship building organizations to make this a project with impact and value.

The discord for this event can be found here https://discord.gg/agD4r5X

The Alioth Aerospace Expo is an exciting opportunity for ship enthusiasts, pilots, and manufacturers to gather and celebrate the latest and greatest in aerospace technology.

When and where will the expo take place? The Expo will be an exclusive week-long event held semi annually in a convention center within the Arkship safe-zone. The first trial expos are slated to be held some time during Alpha and Beta.

Why should I attend? The Expo aims to become a central hub of the shipbuilding scene. It is an opportunity for both industry giants and innovative startups to attract new civilian and military customers, by showcasing their talent to the wider player base.

How will the Expo be funded? Exhibitions of various sizes will be rented out to attending manufacturers. In addition, sponsorships from outside organizations will be accepted. Alpha and Beta Expo attendance will be free of charge in an effort to raise awareness about the event.

How will the Expo be organized? The expo will be organized by an Honorary Committee, made up of attending organization leaders and respected community members, who will elect an Executive Director for each expo. They will handle logistics, organization of the expo, hosted contests, and events.

Morand reacted to NQ-Nyzaltar in Does Community Content Belong on the Wiki?
    Hi everyone,

Here is the official stance of Novaquark regarding the wiki made on Gamepedia. We launched the wiki on this platform with the goal in mind to let the Community fill/improve/complete it. we really thank  all those who have already participated in it. However, the wiki was never meant to reference player-created content (hence organization descriptions). It's made to describe official content, game mechanics and possible emergent gameplay.

Here are the reasons for our stance:

    1) To keep some meaning for each website.
    - The wiki is there for the gameplay and the game mechanics and the official content.
    - The community portal is the place for all the community-created content (as it will evolve a lot with the arrival of a dedicated web developer joining the team soon).

    2) If we start to include Organizations description, we will have to do it for every organization or none of them.
Referencing a few organizations will raise a ton of issues while referencing will gave the wiki contributors an unreasonable amount of work.

    3) To keep a certain neutrality and peace on the wiki.
We aren't blind or naive. The moment some player-created content (especially organizations description or history) is included on the wiki, it will become a battlefield and we don't want that. The wiki is not made nor designed for that. Remember what happened recently on the Community Portal with a system not (yet) fully implemented to take into account attempts of sabotage.

So for all these reasons, we don't want to see Organization pages appearing on the Gamepedia wiki.

Other wiki mentioned in this topic are, in our opinion, not relevant examples:
    - World of Warcraft is a theme park MMORPG where Guilds are not in direct competition (sure, there are Battlegrounds and Arenas for PVP, but there is no reason to reduce the visibility of any guild, while there can be in sandbox MMORPGs like EVE Online or Dual Universe).
    - No Man’s Sky is not a MMORPG. Not even Multiplayer, so there are even less reasons for this case to go wrong.

    Best Regards,
    Nyzaltar.

I would like to compliment the artists who are designing the elements.  I thought the early placeholders where good, but when I see the recent designs, I am impressed that they have become even better.  In a science fiction setting, it seems easy to make things appear either too mundane or too fantastic, but I feel the artists are getting the balance just right and giving the elements a strong sense of believably.

These are obviously very talented people who put a large amount of care into their work and I thank them for their contribution to DU.

    Hi,
I discovered Dual Universe 2 weeks ago. I made some posts on the forum, but I didn't present myself. Better late than never.

So, I'm a french engineer in automated systems.

As JC and many of you, I have dream of a game where we can modify anything we want and we can make our own story. I have seen how the Novaquark team is making this game, how they want to bring something new and how they do to achieve their goal. And I can say: They will DU it!

I first discovered MMOs on a WoW private server on BC, of course I loved that.
Later I have played a lot to League of Legends, Minecraft and Wildstar.
But I also played some space games like Star Wolves and Eve Online.

Star Wolves is a little solo game, very well done with a story and a gameplay very interesting. If you're looking for some ideas, try it maybe.
Eve Online was interesting, but it is mostly PvP.

So I'm a builder. I have build a lot in Minecraft and Wildstar. It's a totally different way to build, but both was very enjoyable. I think the beauty level of what we will be able to build in DU is at half-way of these 2 games. But what I'm very interested in DU is the fact that our constructs will be useful to other players all the time.

I joined Objective Driveyards which goal is to provide the best constructs to the community, which is exactly mine as well.

    Hoping the alpha soon, cya.

Morand reacted to NQ-Nyzaltar in Forum Rules
We want this forum to be a place where everyone feels empowered to have an open and friendly discussion with us (the Novaquark team) as well as other community members.  To help make this possible we have created rules we feel will keep things positive and ensure that proper netiquette is observed.

By posting on this forum, either publicly or through private message or other means, you explicitly agree to follow the rules and guidelines posted here. If you do not agree with these rules – in whole or in any part – then do not post. All members will be treated as if they have read and understood these rules and guidelines.

    (I) Be respectful and courteous.
The Dual Universe forums and community site are provided for Dual Universe players and those interested in discussing topics directly related to Dual Universe. We understand that community members may disagree with each other, and even with us, but we expect opinions to be expressed in a reasonable and polite manner.  It is important to maintain an atmosphere of civility and respect, so that all voices may be heard.

    (II) Communicate constructively.
All communication, whether between players, moderators or Dual Universe staff, must be constructive. Posts without constructive commentary can distract from the topic at hand, reduce the visibility of valuable communication, and discourage others from participating in the conversation.

    (III) Following actions are prohibited:
Posting off-topic replies or replies that are likely to drag the discussion off topic. Necroposting on old threads (unpinned threads in which the last reply is older than 2 months). Spamming on a specific topic. This includes creating multiple discussions on the same topic in the same or multiple forums. Cross-posting a specific reply. This is also a form of spamming. Posting an image without a meaningful text. A meme is not a response to a discussion. They are usually disruptive and can be easily misinterpreted. The same is true for animated GIFs. Calling out other players or community members by name to shame them for actions or opinions you may disagree with. Naming and shaming is not tolerated. Posting in any manner that disrupts an official thread. Official threads are topics created by the Novaquark team for the purpose of collecting feedback and opinions. Threatening legal action. Unfortunately, this kills all conversation immediately as we must refer all further discussion to our legal team. To preserve the conversation intact and unaltered these types of responses may be immediately archived. Trolling (provoking) people. Flaming (insulting, attacking) people. Picking fights isn’t a good way to make your point. It usually means you don’t have one and are just trying to cause trouble. Using profanity. Including creative spelling or character substitution to bypass word filters. Using the report system in an abusive manner. This is a form of harassment and a tremendous waste of time for both staff and moderators. Discussions and comments involving real life politics, ideology or religion. These can be incendiary topics and will usually lead to inappropriate behavior and uncomfortable situations. Publicly posting any private discussions, conversations, or other material between a user and a Novaquark employee (confidentiality policy). Refusal to follow the directions of Novaquark staff or representatives.
The use of an alternate account to circumvent a forum suspension is forbidden at all times. Additionally, the use of alternate account(s) to influence or misrepresent opinions is strictly prohibited. All forum accounts must adhere to the forum rules and Code of Conduct. Failure to comply can result in disciplinary actions against all associated accounts.

Violating these guidelines may trigger a warning, followed by either a temporary or permanent suspension of forum privileges depending on the severity and frequency of the violations.

(IV) The following actions may result in the immediate suspension of forum privileges:
There are some actions severe enough to result in immediate temporary or permanent suspension of posting privileges without prior notification. Serious or sustained offenses may result in suspension of not only the user's forum account but game account as well.

Threatening other members or Novaquark staff. No, “just joking’ is not a defense. We take this very seriously. Publicly revealing account or personal information of any person, community member or Novaquark staff. Posting harmful links pointing to viruses, malware, worms or trojans. Posting sexually explicit content. Including posting links to such content. Hate speech is not tolerated in any form. Attacking any ethnic group, religion, gender or sexual preference/identity. Promoting exploits, cheating programs, piracy or any sort of illegal activity. Attempt to impersonate Novaquark staff or another member of the community.
Violations of these rules may result in further steps taken with outside authorities or agencies. This may include your Internet Service Provider (ISP) and local or national Law Enforcement agencies.

    (V) Abide by moderators and Novaquark employee’s instructions.

If you disagree with a moderator or employee's actions, do not discuss or challenge the matter in forum posts. Send an e-mail to forum@novaquark.com, and be sure to include your forum handle (name displayed on the forum), but NOT your password, and clearly state your concerns.

    Hi ZipSnipe and Kirtis,
welcome on the official Dual Universe forum!

    - It's true the introduction post was a bit brutal. It's understandable as many developers released games promised a lot and didn't met the expectations of the players, and now every game projects having any significant ambition is welcome with caution, suspicion and/or disbelief. And that's okay. We don't ask to be believed just with words. We force no one to support us before having seen the game. We understand your decision. We have no problem with that.

    - It's also true vylqun's answer was a bit brutal as well. It's understandable as we had many aggressive introduction in the past from people who think to know what Dual Universe is about and bash it, before even inform themselves on the game. So those who took the time to inform themselves have sometimes to a hard time to answer kindly to this kind of introduction post.

    - Regarding the role of the veteran community members (and especially the members of the ATV group):
True, we are happy to get feedback from the active members, but we are also happy if they welcome the new members and help them to integrate the community: "welcoming new comers and reply to their questions, even obvious ones without being rude" is one of the factor on which the ATV members can be selected as mentioned there.

Now to answer the main question of the topic:

Games like Space Engineers or Empyrion were originally designed to be multiplayer for small groups of players, hosted on private/personal servers. Going this way has its pros and cons. Among the pros, there are some that made the popularity of these games like the physics applied to voxels where you can ram into a spaceship with another spaceship and breaking it in two parts moving independently. It's this kind of "waow" effect who made Space Engineers well known for example. The problem here is this kind of things is hardly compatible with massively multiplayer technology (if you want to avoid big lag problems), at least with the current level of technology across the world and the average internet bandwith of a player.

In Dual Universe, this is the kind of topic that we decided to "sacrifice": where Space Engineers put physics applied on voxels at the top priority (and it makes sense if you aim for a multiplayer game with a few friends), we put the priority on the massively multiplayer environment, while physics come second. This is essential for a single-shard universe (where the whole community is gathered on one server cluster). If we can implement physics in some aspects without stressing too much the server where we are in a situation with hundreds or event thousands of players gathering at the same place, then we will probably implement it. However, physics applied to voxels, water physics and other type of realistic features that are "unfriendly" with massively multiplayer environment will most probably never implemented unless there is a technology breakthrough to handle that properly in a MMORPG.

Large scale battles of Planetside 2 are also a great achievement, but they can't push much further as FPS real time mechanics can become a factor that limits the massively multiplayer environment. That's why we opted for a "lock and fire" mechanics in PvP combat similar to EvE Online, instead of FPS Mechanics a la Planetside 2. "lock and fire" mechanics enable us to refresh the position of players very far away less frequently without making it a gameplay issue = less data to transmit to all clients = more massively multiplayer friendly.

    In the nutshell:
    - We are favoring massively multiplayer environment (trying to avoid as much lag as possible) over physics.
    - We are favoring massively mutliplayer environment by chosing massively multiplayer PvP mechanics optimized for it ("Lock & Fire").

So we are not trying to make a perfect game impossible to make.
We had to take tough design decisions to make the best game possible while keeping in mind the constraints to make it doable.

That doesn't mean either we promise there will never be any lag: so many factors come into play that there might be situations where you will have lag, depending on your computer configuration, your internet bandwith, the ping you have, etc... But we will do our best to minimize the lag whenever it's possible. That's one of our priorities.

    Best Regards,
    Nyzaltar.
