Ezghoul reacted to NQ-Nyzaltar in One of the Worst Support Teams Ever, and That's saying something
    @Kyllian @ToothlessRaider @LouHodo
The current waiting queue for the Customer Support is exceptional and temporary
The Customer Support had a decent response time in Alpha (around 48-72 hours). However, the surge of requests exploded with Beta Launch, and we are currently scaling up our Customer Support team to catch up with the amount of requests. Please be patient. If you have no answer yet, it's not because the Customer Support doesn't want to answer you. It's just that there are way too many tickets to handle each of them as quickly as the team would like.
On a side note, this forum has rules: insults, provocations & flaming are not tolerated.
I will put the posts above on the (understandable) frustration, but if this continues we will moderate without further notice.

    Best Regards,

    Hi Noveans,

Dual Universe is now in Beta 1 r0.21.5 version.

    New Feature
The image upload feature is back via the website
    Bug Fixes
Beta keys system to distribute codes to your friends now works for existing accounts f you tried to take back a container that was linked to an industry, it failed after 30 seconds waiting. The workaround was to unlink the container from the industry manually first. This is fixed [Image upload] Regarding the new image upload feature on the new website, in the past when clicking the copy link icon on the validated image section, there was no feedback to say that the link has been copied while it was copied nonetheless. This is fixed and the feedback is now properly displayed [Image upload] Drag & drop is now working properly [Image upload] You can now delete an uploaded image
    Improvements
Optimized RDMS request frequency and server load Optimized communications between industries and containers and server load Improvements on the way constructs are processed and displayed to improve performance server-side
    Known Issues
Windows certificate is not up to date. This issue will be fixed soon. This may prompt a warning message for new players in the first install. It can safely be ignored Uninstalling the game directly from Windows will leave the game’s files on the disk anyway. Please use the game's dedicated unins000.exe uninstaller in the game's directory for that. This will be fixed soon! Numerous French and German localization issues have already been spotted and we’ll fix them as time goes by In some situations, you may not be able to place a Static Core Unit on your claimed Sanctuary Territory. An error message saying that it's too close to another construct is even displayed. It may be due to being too close to a District. Trying again from a bigger distance should solve the issue for now A random rendering crash can occur in some places because of some exhaustion of GPU/driver resource Voxel crash about disk/memory exhaustion [PvP] Slight difference between radar and 3D marker distance displays because radar uses the construct center as origin while 3D markers use the player position [SFX] Only blue fireworks may work for the moment [Disclaimer] Health warning message is only localized in English for now. It will be translated into French and German next week [Industries] Number of ingredients increases when clicking on "Start" in some industries
    Cheers,
    Nomad

Ezghoul reacted to Grimmstone in Is The Hedronic Library of Teoma still around
Hello, I am Grimmstone - Head Librarian

    The Hedronic Library  - IS ALWAYS OPEN. The Library's Main Branch will be located in the Twin Lakes Region on Teoma -   ::pos{0,8,1.5059,133.7962,99.1187}
FYI: The Hedronic Library is a collection of shape sets, voxel-mancy tools , ship hull blanks and even ships, For which all have the DRM FREE BP's available for all players to take ONE (as in one lifetime freebie per dispenser) via a publicly accessible Dispenser associated with each exhibit, Every piece in The Hedronic Library was donated by some of the best builders and voxel-mancers in the game!

We will also be adding additional branches as time goes on on the other populated planets.

Would like to add a lil info for those looking.

Going Forward I intend for the Library doing what it has always done , making what is to some, one of the more difficult aspects of DU (voxelmancy) more accessible to all. I also want to develop the library into a learning institution with "guest lectures" and "how to's" hosted by the same voxelmancers that have made such wonderful and generous donations to the Library, without their hard work and artistry the Library would be a big empty building with no purpose , I feel truly grateful that we have such excellent community members . I would like to call them out : Brimor and Bubsy of BiA - Brothers in Arms - Stan from NRD (and all those that worked on those amazing new boards) , The members of Singularity, Destrin , GOI,  The members Of BoO - Teoma Trade Co. and its members for donations of materials ( Itorius you mad miner) and for being great neighbors.

I hope that The Library will always be a wanted resource, and I will gladly and gratefully keep bringing it to you !   We want to provide a Player Based, Publicly Accessible resource base for any of the more difficult aspects of the game be it voxel-mancy for building to LUA - once LUA protections are improved I plan to add a "Lua Library"  as well - of  scripts for players to use and to be able to learn from. Also will be doing a ship builders / engineering  showcase for the same purposes.

That is the nature of beta products. We are basically guinea pigs, risking our sanity for an arguably-unfair head start over regular players.

if you have the patience, wait a couple of days before you make a decision to leave or not.

I have opposite view. Less intervention from NQ on the game market is better for long term play. Right now, after wipe, most of potential suppliers are focused on rebuilding their factories and chaines of supplies. So those who don't want to build their own factories, can only wait (or build them ofc). Be patient. Bots are simple but very lazy solution and we shouldn't ask for lazy solutions.

With the current state of the game, i'd make the strong suggestion you grind out farming ore and selling it, get 20-300 industry going to generate a little revenue and along the way play with design editor for ship/base. Along the way, you will get an idea for something, and once your kids disown you and your wife leaves, everything will be as it should.

Its a sandbox, you will need to create your goals OR find a group and follow the group's goals.

But you stil can aim for

-PVP (still something rare but people dont need)
    - Crafting (its goood..)
-Gathering (mining is the real endgame)
-Exploring (get your ship on space!)
-Social (you can do real good things with voxelmancing)
-Shipbuilding (you weill crash but you will like it)
-Trading (get things cheap from A and sel to Be..with space...and youi will crash)

I mean...you will crash your first ship but its good. And remember: you cant brake from 10k km/h in 10s.

It’s very possible, gather T1 ore and refine it in your nanopack, then build yourself an xs container to put the refine ore, sell or don’t pick any T2 ore, don’t need it right away. Create yourself an Assembly Line S (don’t bother with the xs) and 2 xs containers for input and output, so you can build an Assembly Line M. There is where you can build all the other industries and the container S which you need for storage and inputs and outputs for the industry. Then keep growing from there always using your nanopack for reference and to craft anything else you need to craft the industries.
You can always gather t2 while waiting for the industry to finish and sell it for money in case you want to buy some stuff and speed up the process.

Ezghoul reacted to NQ-Nyzaltar in SUGGESTION to NQ about PACKS
    Hi everyone,

Despite the fact some seem to believe the contrary, it was never said that it will remain forever impossible to add a Supporter Pack to a Founder account.
It's not possible, for the time being. It's not meant to stay that way. It's a huge work that has started before we released the Supporter Packs. Ideally we would have released this possibility at the same time as the Supporter Packs. However, as we saw it would never make it in time with the Supporter Packs schedule, we decided it will be implemented at a later time. We hear your concerns and yes, it was already planned, just delayed for now. We apologize for the inconvenience.

We will keep you informed when we will have more details on this topic.

    Best Regards,

Ezghoul reacted to MookMcMook in What exactly is the point of the MSAs
You guys are OUT-THINKING YOURSELVES here.

Number 1: They're boot-strapping the development of the game in tandem with the growing population of players.

Think about it to make sense of what that statement means:-

DU is the "Civilization Building MMO": Where FORM = SCI-FI + FUNCTION = VOXEL GAMEPLAY are merged together.

That's the game! It is being built right now via the dev tech at NQ.

    1) That is going to be huge huge gameplay creativity space. So do it.
    2) That means safe spaces to advertise that you can just get on with building by finding a place in these things as per advertised (see the title again).
    3) This core gameplay will be available SOONEST. This is proven whatever anyone wants to say eg pre-alpha early...
    4) It will take time to mesh systems on top of this, a lot of time and iteration to get a balance.
    5) The space taken by these safe places is TINY compared to how much MORE space/land there is elsewhere: Absolutely they're going to provide tons of space for people who just want to build. Relatively they're insignificant.

Personally I envision a day years ahead where these bootstraps are no longer needed: The whole player base will have developed player-emergent interactions that self-organize some accommodation or other for builders, OR/Same thing, everyone gets over their own hump and realizes DU will work just fine in whatever way you are interested in. Then and again these things could become some raging success story... and who knows where that will take us...

I would not recommend doing this at this time.  I’m sure NQ will come up with a better system at some point

Alternatively I’m sure you can ask NQ to give you the pack you want for a simple difference in prices.

    @Ezghoul:
This is indeed a typo (the news should be fixed by now).
Basically, the rule we applied to the gifts was: all Supporter cosmetic rewards are gifted to the Founder Packs of equivalent level (or higher).

The Arkship Cryogenic Tube is only a decorative Element.
This is a different Element from the Legacy Resurrection Node (which is basically a Respawn Point Element).

None of what you stated there answers the primary negative impact that it would have, that is for every player spending time messing around in creative zone, that is a player who isn't actually playing the game. They aren't in the world space, they are not contributing to societies, and the only thing they are adding to the world is blueprints.

people are going to be building all the time as it is, blueprints will be everywhere, and having a way to produce blueprints in-game without any access to the material de-values blueprints as a commodity.

by far the most dangerous thing suggested here though is the idea that you would be able to test pvp with multiple players in creative mode. That would badly fracture the player popularion, as the only pvp-minded player left in the actual world then would be pirates and conquerers. All of us folks who want to fight, but who don't take any pleasure in ruining other people's creations would be playing effectively a whole other game in creative instead of bounty hunting or joining a militia.

the backbone of this game is the number of people actually playing it. If you are testing blueprints, you'll need the resources and space to do so. If you are testing military tech, it'll need field tests. That's just what an emergent gameplay environment is all about. If that's exciting to you, join a military tech development org (heck I started one, the Alchemists, and thats exactly what I plan on spending my time doing).

If all you want is to design there are many free 3d tools available out there to use during your planning phase. Blender is one of most well rounded open source tools out there.

If your looking for a way to import a design to Dual Universe and just add resources to have it built for you on the other hand, I have to object to it. This is not Empyrion and such a method would remove the need for organisations/teams/projects.

You really shouldn't expect to be able to build something that large by yourself, at least not in a reasonable time frame. JC said something to this effect in one of the videos (he was referring to people wanting to build a DeathStar).

I would like to say here, I'm not saying I'm right and your wrong or anything like that. I just don't think it would work in DU or fit NQs implementation based off what little we have been shown.

This is where I learned Lua years ago: https://www.lua.org/pil/contents.html
(for Garry's Mod and later Multi Theft Auto: San Andreas)

It's the online version of the 1st edition of the book mentioned earlier in this thread.

The Fourth Edition is for 5.3: https://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/8590379868/lua-pilindex-20
I don't think enough will have changed that you would have to buy a whole new book for it -- just google what has changed.

This is the e-book version (pdf as well): https://feistyduck.myshopify.com/products/programming-in-lua-fourth-edition-ebook
This is not pirated or illegal, it is linked on the authors' website.

Personally, I don't plan on getting either of these, as the free online book is for version 5 and the information on what's changed between versions is public knowledge.

As a long time flight simmer, and as a dedicated Kerbal player for almost as long as the game has been available, I am very very interested in this. Love to learn every detail about atmospheric flight and orbital mechanics in DU. I was under the impression that we were going to be flying with a typically oversimplified arcade-type flight model both in and out of atmosphere, and honestly... that was the only thing about DU that I was disappointed in.

Just how much depth is there to flight physics? How simplified is it?
