i think it would be better to have an npc as a hazzard you have to get rid of to make it safe to occupy a territory

heres a direct quote the devs said of the switch

We had been working with Unreal Engine 4, which has lots of incredible features and excellent rendering quality, but some of the things we wanted to do were more complex, or would have required us to branch the source code of Unreal to basically make our own version. Unigine 2 is much more low level and thus provides us more flexibility and computational power. Unigine 2 is perhaps less developed than Unreal regarding the game engine side (level edition, assets integration, etc, even if this is progressing rapidly and should improve in the near future), but as we generate everything procedurally those features are less relevant for us.
However, the freedom in low level modification and the clear focus of Unigine 2 towards large scale open world rendering was a perfect match for us. It also gives us a great platform to develop our own PBR (Physically Based Rendering) shading framework. We have already started to work with our engineers on many other rendering technologies on top of Unigine 2 features, that will enable us to provide really cool stuffs visually.

Well, chances are newbros will be at the safest of safe places, on the starting system, with all adjacent systems being player-run empires, that police their territories, which means, newbros will be safe in the "high-sec" space, while we savages will be at the fringes of the universe, burning planets to their cores and moving to the next system... err... I mean planting lillies and listening to N-Sync. Yeah... totally N-Sync.

But regardless, a solo player can still make their own path in the game. Nobody prevents a player from going into a frontier town, the "low-sec" system in other words, and getting into trouble because he looked a guy the wrong way (which happens to me all the time in EVE, I swear, I nver shot first), which at its core, is what emergent gameplay is all about. Now, if that solo player wants to be the general in an army, he would have to actually find people, rub shoulders and all that politics stuff to get that position -- until they are proven as a military hack of a general and they are demoted to pirvate sergeant sweeper first class. And let's face it, many people will simply go solo and get into trouble in frontier towns in the game, rather than stay in the "high-sec" areas of the star-map, at least, those who are savages like us

But all of that solo risk and reward, stems from wanderlust and wanderlust without danger, is not an adventure, but a theme park ride and DU, is not a theme park MMO, it's a sandbox with emergent gameplay.

I rest my case at that good sir.

I believe a shield should be as powerful as its pier supply so that large organization S keep it up longer and lonewolves shorter.

So i put it on my wallpaper to see how it would look, i think one of the things you need is to make the "floor" more invisible then the "back wall" as right now it looks more like the cubes are balancing on one place

Way to step up Dragon Alot of people would have just kept silent and used it to their advantage (such as free membership) so it is awesome people like you just try to fix the problem instead of just adding on to it

Pointing out something. I figure this should have gone without clue. I'm OutlandishRep and welcome to the fantastic barrel of misery and anger known as my posts.

There have been some things going around. Noticed anything? I'm sure you have.

There are spam posters. You know what that means. We have reached the classic point of boards. The people who are doing stuff to irritate others. You know, like me. These people aren't me though. They are people who are purposely causing others some grief. I'm just throwing the grief of other onto their desks.

    The Problem?

At this time a month ago, there was a user. His name was Sakej99. One day he decided to post some spam. This spam wasn't in a can. It was spam that festered with hate and rhetoric of the stereotypically internet kind. The organization supposedly behind this spam? The Diverse Unified Alliance.

After looking through their members, there wasn't a Sakej99 listed. Contacting Dominar Diablo, I inquired about this. Minutes of trying to get him to talk without blocking minute ended up revealing that Sakej99 had simply left.

Useless. This was all useless stuff that we didn't need. But one fateful day on November 24th, this unappealing type of post known as spam happened again! Can you guess the person that did this? Let me give you a hint. It's Sakej99.

A new line of hateful attacks at both Sakej99 and the organization he posted for began. The organization? Solar Secure. The child of Solar Empire. Another useless post with 44 ignorant and disgusting replies emerged.

Want to know the funny thing? Both leaders of Solar Empire and the Diverse Unified Alliance posted something to deny their involvement in this spam. That. Should. Go. Without. Saying.

Both of them publicly apologized or stated they had no involvement. Great.

Solar Secure had a different response though.

Agreement that the community wash harsh on one post. Agreed. Agreement that the community was oversensitive about a spammer that just posted a quick, non-contributing post. Disagreed. This was the community reacting negatively to a post that didn't need to exist. You know, the desired effect. This reaction is better than an upvote haven. The community wants bad posts to be given honor? No!

    Conclusion To This?

Idiotic. A word to describe the reaction. Idiotically, members started arguing with each other in this post. Idiotically, it spiraled into a negative feedback loop.

Spurs of hate spread as one posts something that isn't needed. Personal opinion applies. Community opinion triumphs over personal opinion. Sakej99, a legate of Solar Secure, caused problems that negatively effected the organization. I'll leave the questioning of Sakej99 alone. Spam. Overreaction. Both points that need to be mentioned.

A non-useful post that contributed nothing. Shouldn't have happened.

The community festering hate and harmful rhetoric into that post. Shouldn't have happened.

Want to know something? This community can be toxic. It can birth things like DUExplorers, fan lore, contests. It can birth the opposite as well.

One step away from a OutlandishRep news segment. You know what the problem is? Stop contributing to making it worse. Both sides.

A day after, Sakej99 sent a present. A wonderful Thanksgiving Present.

I accept your invitation to join Solar Secure. You probably don't want me at this point but I'll still join.

I'll see all of you in the comments. OutlandishRep brings you an Outlandish day.

I think it would be beneficial to overall replayability and fun factor to make sure rare spawn monsters are present in the game. Make them hard to get to. Make them over powered. Make their drops extra special and extra rare. like weapons, armor or crafting ingrediants. they can be on all sorts of timers like 24hr spawns, once a week or month even. random spawns and so on.  As far as global bosses go we need monsters that are so huge that if there isn't at least 50 people willing to fight it theres no chance in hell of beating it. Many large MMO's implement this in their games and it makes it fun to get together with a bunch of friends and go "hunting"... or hunted.

However much I like the idea, I do not believe Novaquark will bite on this idea. While this will help the players going about settling planets and what not, it would just make it easier for players to settle new planets, which means they have to create new planets. The reason Novaquark makes it that it takes so long to travel to new systems and stuff, is that it allows them to have enough time to make whatever system you wish to go in, and even if its game-generated, they still have time to get more space for all the data that will be required in that planet and what not. So while it is possible for such a "satellite" I honestly can't see it in the immediate future as the Novaquark team already told us the only thing they would be providing is some temporary npc's to get the economy started, and the arkships.
