When I can add reasonable defenses, e.g., shields, so I have some chance of surviving an attack without taking a huge loss, then it would be fair for me to have to take a risk commensurate with the reward if I succeed. (Currently, the reward for mining outlying planets is nowhere near enough to justify any risk of combat. It's also not enough to hire escorts if you're going to sing that tired refrain.)

I was mostly kidding, but your argument was essentially that supply is bad because the suppliers think the demand is weak. That's not a demand problem... that's a problem with the suppliers' confidence.

There's only a demand problem if sell orders are on the market and no one is buying.

Now I understand. Thank you. Yes, I agree with you on that for sure.

At the moment, I am personally deciding if I want to put a 10 million quanta element on the market  - the tax and storage costs aren't free if it doesn't sell.

From my point of view definitely worse. Before 0.23 it was quite easy to make profit on the markets. Just build a universal T1/T2 factory, watch the markets and than produce and sell produtcs with high margin. With 0.23 prices nosedived because industrial players tried to sell all their stock (even with loss) to get the schematics they needed to restart production. Than it loked like the markets would slowly recover. I was able to buy raw materials and sell products with profit. Not a quarter as good as 0.23 but better than nothing.

But in the last two weeks I sold almost nothing anymore (on different markets on Madis) - even at costs of goods. There are still products that might sell quite well. But since 0.23 I need to buy schematics in order to switch to a new product and with the latest developent on the markets I can't expect a return of investment. Thus I stopped production for now and wait for the markets to recover or collapse completely.

Flying along today at 4km.  Passed a tower at least 4.2km tall.  Only seen it because of the pad at the top.  This is getting silly.  Pretty soon, Alioth will have a full-on beard.

Leading to PVE combat? Never happen in DU lol.

But seriously, they would need a much bigger dev team and a bigger budget to actually add significant content. That's the point of player driven emergent content - keeping the dev cost down.

Welfare just doesn't strike me as a good game mechanic. A better choice would a reverse tax - an incentive payment for supplying the market with goods it's currently short on. (and keeping a regular tax on anything that's oversupplied.)

I just don't think it works (or can work) in this game.

The Scrap seller those pics is a scam (you guys probably all know that, but just in case someone doesn't) and he has the gall to add signs claiming that those who accuse him of that are just jealous of him.

Maybe guns should be enabled for targets that have been sitting in an Aphelia owned hex for more than 24 hours.

Magnetism is an aspect of the EM force which at extremely high energies,  i.e., very early in the universe, was unified with the strong force (that holds atomic nucleii together) and the weak force (which causes mass to exist among other things). Gravity is curvature of space-time. It may not be a force at all, but we really can't say at this point except that we no general relativity (the most successful theory in the history of science) doesn't quite tell the whole story. Gravity may also unify with the other three forces at high enough energy, but we don't have anything like a testable theory at those energies.

It's not magnetic. It might not even be a force.

yes please - do your research. all those videos you provided don't prove that magnetism=gravity. If you got any evidence and proof please visit https://www.nobelprize.org/nomination/physics/

You know you have nothing to say of substance when you resort to arbitrary judgement values like "carebear".

If you care so much about PvP, how about playing a PvP game?! DU isn't a PvP game. It's a building game with PvP slapped on top as a crude afterthought, with core pillars of the PvP gameplay unknown or undecided by NQ...and with no known ETA on changes.

Welcome to DU's Alpha. Be patient or just move on and play a game with actual PvP as a core feature. DU isn't that game.

Frankly I don't understand how they will ever create anything close to "civilization" if they attract that crowd of people that loves to throw around "carebear" like it's the ultimate pejorative. Bears are great. Just visit pride sometime.

Some people think combat is insanely boring (especially DU's version), others think coding in LUA all day is boring, others think mining and hauling is boring. If you can't get over the fact that different people like different things, why bother playing a multiplayer game at all...?

Anyway....I'm over people whining because PvP doesn't yet work. Nothing really works yet. Everyone is in the same boat.

It isn't because "carebears" want to avoid danger -- it's because NQ hasn't come close to finishing their game.

Get over it, be patient, or move on.

Almost as ridiculous as no shields or other defensive devices and combat mechanics that amount to shoot first or die. The only thing (aside from fast travel) that warp does atm is allow unarmed undefendable ships to opt out of combat.

If shooting unarmed ships is important to you, you're a griefer, not a PVPer.

Listening to these people taking themselves seriously while sparring for control over fictional resources in a game hardly anyone plays as if there were real consequences is kinda cute but considering they're grown adults, bordering on sad. I just warped in picked up a full load and warped out a couple of days ago. nothing.

they remind me of the local street lads in my old litter filled, graffiti festooned hometown when I used to unfortunately live in the UK.. They walked and talked as if they owned the place, knifing anyone else who came near them but basically not actually achieving anything of actual value other than acting hard and eventually getting knifed themselves. Ah the UK... a bastion of honour and dignity.

Shame that this sort of mentality makes its way into games, too...

Fixing an exploit is not a nerf. Just because they didn't ban you for the exploit doesn't mean it wasn't cheating.

The devs also asked Dimencia to stop using the exploit and afaik, it was removed from the next version.
