  1. I think I'm just tired of playing a game that's not working. It's a grind anyway and now even the grind isn't working.  The game was more fun in Beta and they've just ruined it. At least for me.  I'm sure others will disagree, but for me, I'm tired of the server issues.  These aren't the first and I don't think they're going to be the last.  And I don't think they really know what they're doing, tbh.  Sucks.  Could have been such a cool game.

They've struggled with performance and stability issues since the start...even if they do fix these specific problems eventually, the fix is too slow and any stability has proven to be ephemeral.

Can't really disagree with anything you've said. It's not optimism, if I'm being honest.  More like empathy.  I really believe the development team wants to make a great game.  But then, I'm old enough to know it takes so much more than 'want'.  We'll never know what their budget looks like, what demands or restrictions are being placed on them by the decision makers who don't play the game - all those things.  Unless NQ-Deckard is a wild anomaly, which I doubt, the team wants to make a cool game.  But right now, it's not happening.  I'll be happy to be wrong, but I don't think DU is going to make it another year.  So... empathetic pessimism maybe. (shrug)

  3. Over the past several weeks, we've been dealing with some pretty significant server issues that have made this (rightly) challenging game into one that's almost impossible to play.

On two occasions, while running missions, my ship has completely lost the ability to brake.  This is happening with a ship that I've used for that same mission many times before and after.

This has happened to some of my org-mates as well. One said, "I just landed on thades. and instead of landing I shot into the air at 16k kmph and disabled 223 modules".  Another said, "coming down for a landing - brakes are working and then the ship just drops to the ground damaging half the elements".

Another said, "yesterday late in the day i was leaving atmo on talemai .  at 16km above surface my ship disappeared and my body floated down. ship got stuck 16 km above me."  -  I know that this same exact thing happened to another player in my org about three weeks ago.

NQ knows there is a problem. And I know they're going to fix it. But until they do, I can't run missions. If my ship crashes like that again, it's done.

If it happens again then my ship is broken forever and I'm screwed.

I had a cushion of quanta in my account that I've used to pay my tile taxes, but now that money is depleted. If I can't run missions, I can't earn money.

So what am I supposed to do here, NQ?  These server issues have been going on for weeks!  I really like this game and I want to play it. Because of these server issues, which are out of my control, I can't earn money.  And so I won't be able to pay my tile tax.  So I'm going to lose my tiles because the server is having problems.

So I'm asking you, NQ.... what do you expect me to do here? This is frustrating and we've been patient. Are you guys going to do anything?  Please just help.

One slightly concerning comment that was made:  “we hope to only have to launch once” …….soooo there might be further wipes and launches?

I'm pro a wipe for a clean launch, but only if it’s confirmed to be persistent after that point.

Agreed on this. Please, NQ, this cannot be an open question. I'm certain that most of us don't want to put more years into this only to have it wiped again. Please clarify this point for us.

You may want to look at you're PC or Internet service provider.  In 2 years I've never heard of teleporting ships.  Or ships returning to their base without assistance.  This is likely because your on bad internet and no longer connected to the server.

PVP desync is common, but there are ways to combat it, like having a friend tell you information, or take the helm while you relog. (because your bad internet isn't keeping up)

Ships always resume their speed when someone gets on them after they are killed or the player logs out.  Ie: If the ship is going 20,000kph when the pilot disconnects (due to bad internet) or logs out. When anyone gets onto the ship or the pilot logs back in, the ship resumes its speed.  This has been this way for years.

If you and your friend don't have the same mission then you are obviously not communicating. Missions aren't random, they don't change. You are both taking different missions, its not a bug, its just your failure to read properly.

When you turn on your radar you see too much information.  Maybe try using Alt+V to bring up the radar menu and unclick some of the boxes.

That said, none of your post has anything to do with this patch and should be in the "I need help" section.

    Hope that helps.

Yes. It's obviously my PC and internet connection. But only when I'm playing DU. And my hardware and ISP are SO bad they affect not only me, but others who live far away from me.  I owe the entire community a YUGE apology!  You da best!

  6. Hey guys.

Sometimes my base (and everything else) just straight up isn't there. Literally happening as I type this.

Too often I fly somewhere and then my ship teleports itself home leaving me stranded.

It takes 10 steps (in the exact right order) to target and fire at a ship in pvp, and...

My adversaries ship is likely to desynch teleport itself 1 su away while I'm shooting at it.

I landed on a stationary ship in space today and then exited my ship and the formerly stationary ship was suddenly going 20,000 kph.

I can't run a mission with a friend because we almost certainly will not have the same one.

When I turn on my radar, all I can see is a sea of construct names stretching to the horizon, usually obscuring my destination.

The game is in the most unplayable state I've ever seen it, and you guys are going to have us invite people to play. That's like taking a giant sh!t on your coffee table and then inviting the neighbors over to watch television.

Kudos on the foliage makeover tho...

I hope this feedback helped. ❤️

all stiill an alpha stage state of mind

Things have regressed from 'maybe' beta to 'definite' alpha.  The game today is not nearly as much fun as the game we had 6-8 months ago. I just pray that there are things happening behind the scenes that are going to make sense at some point.

And then there's the continued lack of news on the potential / probable wipe.  Are they planning to do anything to address the Great Wipe Depression they triggered?  Can the collective ego handle admitting such a massive fcuk up?

    Conclusion: There is no fair!

100% Nothing in this life is fair. Unless there's a legit technical reason to start fresh (there isn't or they would just say so) there's no good/fair/logical/reasonable excuse for any kind of wipe.

BTW, I'm also a Gen X'r with 4 accounts. I say we make our own game, with blackjack and hookers. In fact, forget the game - and the blackjack!

So the person that spend a 100 hours mining gets shafted by loosing everything, the person that spend 100 hours building and making BPOs isn't? How is that fair?

You make a good point.  My only thought on this is that mining isn't a creative pursuit. Players who spend 100 hours, or 1000 hours in a few amazing cases, are valuable to the community in a unique way that we wouldn't want to lose.  Mining on the other hand is now almost entirely automated compared to how it was when we were all scooping a mega for hours on end. Literally anyone can be a miner - relatively few can build the beautiful ships that come from the creative few.  For the record, I'm not one of those gifted few. ;)

I understand your argument completely and I don't disagree.  In the end... none of what's about to happen is fair.  I just want to lose as few good players as possible.

  10. This is a very reasonable compromise and I thank all of you at NQ for listening to us.

Another good idea that came up last night in the roundtable discussion hosted by Seripis was being able to deconstruct small, medium and large dynamic constructs for storage, similar to how a pocket ship is compacted.  Perhaps an option to deconstruct a ship into a package that could be reconstituted later.  This would remove active cores from the game, while not forcing us to get rid of them.  If the goal is to increase performance of the server, this must surely be a helpful measure and one that I hope will be considered and explored at some point in the near future.

What's the point in having one if only to save face and not actually use any of their feedback?

I'm operating under the assumption that the developers want the game to continue so they can continue to receive paychecks. If that's not the case, there is no point. They may be leashed by corporate masters and have no say in it, in which case we're pretty much done and you're all invited to join my minecraft server. LOL

  12. I've been playing DU for a good long time now and I'm convinced that the developers don't play their own game.  They have accounts, but they have a very different perspective about DU than most of us do.  Announcements like this one make that painfully obvious.  It seems like this core limit announcement is not so much the problem, but a symptom of the bigger problem which is lack of meaningful communication between player and developer.

Dual Universe needs to have a player council made up of people from a cross section of play styles - miners - haulers - builders - pvp players - factory owners and so on.  If the community, via a player council, had the opportunity to discuss changes like this with the development team before announcements like this drop, it would at least give them a chance to consider the ramifications of their decisions without immediately pissing everybody off.  We do have this message board, but so much of it is just people complaining.  We need a meaningful dialog between the players and the developers and a player council would do just that.  I've seen it in other games and while it isn't a cure all, it certainly improves communication between us rabble who play and love the game and the rabble up there in that ivory tower who love and develop the game.

  13. The ore rates are to low compared to the mining we're losing. The taxes are way too much. I don't want to play this game to just get by and pay my taxes. I can do that sh*t in real life.

And then screwing up 6/10 of my ships with the absolutely pointless changes to brakes?  Seriously... why? To make ships uglier? Good work, NQ.

If you're looking to make this game a grind... you're on the right track.  I've become disenchanted with DU lately because of all the bugs that aren't getting fixed. Example: How long have we not been able to fit canopy windows together properly?  I really thought this update was going to be a step in the right direction - getting rid of the boring necessity of mining and giving us the ability to have a steady amount of ore to build the world.  Taxation was exciting because it gave us the prospect of getting back some of the tiles from players who have abandoned the game.  Instead we get a new grind for less ore and a steady drain just to maintain the infrastructure we've built up to this point.  And a bunch of ships that don't work.

I know the people at NQ don't really care if one guy decides not to play the game.  And I also know I'm not the only one who feels this way.  I feel like we're at a critical junction right now and I'm not optimistic.  What a truly disappointing day this has been.
