    Resource Revamp
Let’s give the resources stats. The same 4 type of stats for all the resources. You could grab a stack of resource and could "identify" them, and that would generate 4 random stats for resources. For example

    Heat Resistance: 894
    Cold Resistance: 390
    Strength: 434
    Decay Resistance : 900
    Why would this be good?

    1)      The stats of the resource would determine the end result of the crafting.
    2)      Trading with resources will be exciting. Humans like collecting stuff ? which will keep them in the game.
    Crafting Revamp

The issue with how crafting is designed is that pretty much everyone creates the same thing. If 10 players decide to manufacture Space Engine XL-s, then what we will be seeing over time is that they will start undercutting each other prices to a point where someone will sell the item for a loss.

The solution is that we need to introduce some variety.

What I am proposing is to introduce real crafting. It would be an extra step between when you buy the schematic and when you would put that schematic into the factories.

    How would it work?
Let’s roll the dice. Let’s use the dice come up with an element’s stat just like in the old days.
You would have a crafting window where you could boost a specific stat on an element.
There would be 2 stages during crafting.

    Build

where you assemble the item for the first time,
You open the crafting window. You drag and drop the resources / sub-components you need for an item and you initiate crafting by hitting “Build”. This is the point where you would have a roll for the “Build”

    This could have 5 outcomes.

Failure would look like this (see the below screenshot). You can only put two points on Thrust, 3 on hit points, etc) If you do a failure build, you cannot enhance the item by more than 30% (1 box / 10% ). Which basically means you only get 3 boxes.

Good would mean you have 5 boxes (max 50%)
Great would mean you have 8 boxes (max 80%)
Amazing would mean you have 9 boxes (max 90%)
Extraordinary would mean you have 10 boxes (max 100%)

The number of available white (empty) boxes and the default blue boxes would be determined by the quality of the resources/subcomponents that you use
Each item will have different resource requirement. For example what resource might be good for space engines may be bad for warp cells.
    For example for space engines.
Thrust takes Heat Resistance 50%, Cold Resistance 25%, Decay Resistance 25%
Hitpoints takes 50% strength, 50% heat resistance
    Warmup takes Heat Resistance 100%

This picture below would be for an extraordinary build with good resources. If you use bad resources, there would be fewer blue boxes and more white.

What are the blue boxes? The blue boxes represent how good/bad resources or subcomponents you used, then you will start placing your points from that point. In the above example Thrust starts from 40% so if you put one point, it may go up or down depending on the "enhance" roll (explained in the next paragraph)

    The next phase is the
    Enhancement phase.

This when you actually start putting points on the stat you want.
The process is simple. Depending on how many points you have, you start placing points. You can either do it point by point, or you can place all your points at once. Rolling the dice point after point could potentially give better endresults than using up all your points and roll the dice once. You can fill as many white boxes as you want, then you hit “Enhance” This would roll the dice once, and it would give you one of the following results
    Fail, Good, Great, Amazing, Extraordinary

If you only put 1 point (fill only one white box), then this is how the bar would go up
Fail = The bar would actually go down. You initially started from 40%, but since you failed you would go down to 30%, at the same time the number of white boxes on all stats would go down as well.
Good = The bar would go up by an extra 10%
Great = the bar would go up by an extra 20%
Amazing = the bar would go up by an extra 25% points
Extraordinary = the bar would go up by an extra 30%..which means 3 white boxes would be filled to blue even though you just selected white box.

What determines how many points you could place of these white boxes?
Talents: we would come up with a new talent tree where if you could acquire maximum 10 points
Location: You could acquire +1 additional points depending which planet you are on. For example on Jago you could get 1-1 extra point on space engine assembly/enhancemenet.This would be good because crafters would actually need to fly to different planets to create schematics. This would boost the traffic and eventually would boost PvP

    What would drive the rolls?
There are numerous ways you could do that. What I would do is the following
Talents: we would come up with a new talent tree where if you could increase the chances for both assembly/enhancements. It can be the same talen tree as above, but I would come up with a new one.
Location: You could get an additional chance on both depending on which planet you are on.
I would also introduce consumables to increase the chance some extra percentage points. But let’s not go that deep down yet. once you have all the talents and if you are on the right planet you have the following chances

    5% fail rate
    95% good
    50% great,
    20% amazing
    5% extraordinary

Once you placed all the points, you have three options
    ·         Cancel
    ·         Create the item
    ·         Create the Schematic

Decorations and consumables could have a build/enhance on the quantity.

Meaning it does not represent actual game play. And anyone getting a subscription based on the video will be in for a rude awakening.

I'd rather see rules built into the game mechanics such as an ai comes and blows u up for parking where you shouldn't, or invisible walls don't let your ship get that close (just examples), rather than the devs just telling us how to play. It just seems super lazy to just tell people how to play instead of actually developing the game with features that force certain actions. First it's "people are sad you stow away on their ships, we must prevent the sad so no more stow aways or you could be banned" and now it's "we don't feel like coding, so can yall just move all your stuff? Thanks!" Honestly, NQ needs to check out of the forums and chat for a while, go build the game in its original design and vision, then come back and check in on the whiners. I absolutely love this game but these kinds of "interventions" kills a little bit of that each time, feels like I'm finding red flags in a new relationship.

just get rid of time based talent point accumulation all together.  That was the Worst design decision NQ made. Passive talents are the stupidest thing you can think of. There needs to be some sort of active talent accumulation as well. And no, the achievements don't count. 120 talent points for an achievement is an insult. The AFK gameplay mechanics need to be fixed(i.e. talents and missions).

The fact that people are still bickering about PvP in this game is hilarious.

This argument has been going on for 6+ years now.

The fact that it's still going on is proof of a fundamental design flaw that has never been solved and never will be.

Sadly, people like to turn on each other and pretend the problem is somehow with other players. It's not.

There is no issue with PvP players or concepts, and there is no issue with builders or peace-loving gamers. That's never been an issue.

6+ years of people struggling to understand what role PvP should have is a tragic example of utterly failed game design. Nothing more. I don't understand why this is hard for some gamers to understand...

I'll believe DU has a future when discussions about the merits of PvP stop, because NQ has properly designed it to everyone's satisfaction. In other words, DU doesn't have a future and frankly it never truly did.

Honestly? This game hasn't had a future for a long time...

It's been ~7 years of banal debate about PvP -- and when people aren't puzzled about the core concept of this game, they are puzzled by the poor implementation of those concepts!

Let's be real: DU is a bad concept and it always was.

There was never any cohesive design for how this game would work. On one hand, builders investing thousands of hours on construction. On the other, PvPers that want actual mechanics, politics, and meaning beyond a fancy garden of constructs.

In 7 years, they never figured out how this design would work. They still don't know.

And even if they did know how to make it all work? They have proven time and time again that they cannot physically change the game enough to get there...that the "foundations" built under JC are made of non-voxel sand.

The only thing DU did well was create a vivid canvas in each players' mind. Everyone that bought into the premise filled that canvas with their idea of what DU would be.

So many people say that DU had "such great potential". The actual potential they saw had little to do with NQ or DU -- the potential was imagined by gamers based on the concept. That potential was never reflected in reality -- DU never became more than a blank canvas filled by each players' idea of what it might become.

It's still that blank canvas, with people saying it has "potential".

T5 for sale but t4 and t3 for industry. And there's a much danger there.

Which locks me out of the exploration and discovery aspects of the game. Exploration being one of the pillars which attracted me to the game to begin with. I don't mind making it more difficult enjoy parts of the game but to lock me out for the sake of pvp is concerning.

I am reminded of UO who tried a similar pvp model. They ended up having to set up non pvp servers to attract gamers. They had previously content though. DU, not having npcs, would be less able to do this and I would prefer pvp players to be a part of the same universe as me, if I can enjoy the game without pkers or griefers. At this point, with them stating the higher tiers of ore is placed in pvp areas so players can fight of resources,  I am concerned they are ignoring non pvp aspects of the game to focus on pvp to the detriment of the player base who aren't blood thirsty.

And the zebras are necessary to sustain a healthy market place.. to continue with the analogy,  lions can hunt lions and fight for territory but to not have the zebras will lead to their extinction. A pvp game cannot sustain itself. Unless the developers plan on running the market with bots for the pvpers,  the economy won't be robust enough to sustain the game long term. Without something more than being stuck in the safe zone at level 1 or 2 like a caged animal, non pvpers won't play. Players like me will take our patronage elsewhere

Culprit here is also extreamly stupid DU PvP systems, combo lack of meaningful 1-seaters, high price celling for competitive ships, skills (alts) pressure -- all this lower chances of more solo/casual/pve people even be bothered to try pvp, because it seems hopeless for them (and for good reason).

Its one of fundamental "killer" flaws of DU, that choking game since start.

It was not supposed to be. In the beginning it was made very clear that PvP was only one of the 6 pillars, and not any more or less important than any of the other pillars.
I.e. one of the main selling point of DU was "make your own game" and that included not having to focus on PvP as a main part of the game.

When I started following the game years ago, the purpose of the game was to make a realistic universe. If its all about pvp, it's not for me. And after watch games in the industry for over 20 years, it will become a niche game. Maybe that's the new vision for the developers. To make a game with massive space battles. This is different from where it was when I was so looking forward to the game pre alpha. Thus my worries. Such potential only to cater to hard core pvpers because without being hard-core,  this type of game, a game where you have to build up wealth,  will be unplayable to those who have a job and can't play daily or want to be lone wolves.  And these potential gamers are part of a real universe.

Yeah... I have played since beta, as a Patron. It definitely was forgivable even in the first couple months for me. Working in game development myself, I understand how things may go. It didn't take long for me to soon see that it doesn't appear as though anyone here has any previous game development experience. The game is inconsistent, and while some features are robust, others are so lacking it's confusing. Overly complicated system, not good enough tools, shoddy performance and stability.

After almost a full year of being available to the public (not to mention the 2-3+ years in development prior, and nothing to show for it) there have been no meaningful improvements in performance, stability. Still haven't fixed the crashes, unhandled exceptions...

I played for about 3 months. Then stopped playing for about 6 months or something, only to come back recently. The coolest thing that has happened since is the community building things. There's literally nothing else to talk about. Nobody is missing anything by not playing. It's a shame really. The development team is aware, I'm sure, but I'm here to speak and say my opinion that the development team needs to stop production of half-baked features, to focus on stability and performance. If you did that from the start, the player base wouldn't be what it is now. The fact that I'm being told to update ports in my router as a workaround to my crashes, is a disappointment. It's not even a guarantee, and I'm not going to do all that. In the end you're losing customers, and those of us who're still vocal and here and speaking up, should be able to help guide the product to a healthy state.

I work in Quality Assurance for my job, and the quality bar is set really low on this project. The Project/Build Manager should feel ashamed. The producer should prioritize better, and the board members need to listen to the community and help support production to focus on quality foundations before adding features. Dual Universe doesn't know what it is anymore, and those of us who are still here, paying, playing, should and will dictate how the game proceeds. We got you.

    Edited to add:
My whole org quit, they talk shit on the game. It sucks. lol Feels really bad.

    -Crashing when flying
-Unhandled Exceptions after clicking play on launcher
-Server response time is absolutely garbage. Makes playing with other players a slide show when you're not on the ground.
-Loading times are garbage for absolutely everything
-Constructs/construct loading times/quality not optimized is also horrendous. Market 6 is perfect example. Market 6 should stay this way as a control bar for quality performance

But what I really think they need to become festivalks for the eyes, are better atmospheres! If you look to games like Ark Survival Evolved, you know what I mean. Thise atmospheric features (and not just their clouds) there are gorgeous, making it a real pleasure to be there. The late afternoon skies and early evenngs can even give you amazing emotions. That is what I want for DU, that sort of beauty.
