Thanks for all the replies including the kind words, and the constructive disagreement (those who think personal insults are the way to hold public discourse I truly feel for you).

I want to be clear though - This had absolutely nothing to do with having to avoid a tower.  Thats how I found it.  ArchHUD will avoid crashing into it (with an atmo radar), or can have a route that plots around it, so this is nothing to do with the tower, or not being able to afk autopilot, or afk mission run (its funny some people think you can legally automate the whole thing, you cannot0.

This has to do with an obvious intentional griefing, a rule to prevent such griefing, and the sudden interpretation that 2km airspace only means directly over the market tile.

For any newbie flying, they may not know that even if they turn to avoid the tower when it loads in, they might stall and crash.  And anyone using market 12 as a market cant fly out at that heading now, cause few ships can do 38 deg up and go 500m up before going 450m forward (whats needed to avoid the tower).  And the fact they posted a sign saying roughly, we are going to cover the entire north side, land elsewhere.  And yes, the NQ snarky reply didn't help.

This is the problem with rules in MMOs. If something isnt hard coded, players will break the rules and GMs will have to waste valuable time investigating such reports.  But if that is the dev team choice, you enforce the rule, or you change the rule.

Changing this rule (which they effectively did) allowed one way "pvp".  By this I mean:  Since the tile in question is in safe space, one player is allowed to force all other player to change their playstyle (fly a different route) and there is nothing they can do about it.  We cant destroy the tower, we cant move the tower, we can only choose to change our fight paths because another player forces us to do so.

And it was a choice by them, it is built perfectly perpendicular to the incoming and return flight path for the most popular mission from Alphelia, and has a scrap stand at the base.

Anyway, like someone said above, straws and camels.

Be good to one another, remember that PvP doesnt mean hate v hate, just two people playing a game.

Sorry to see another talented old Player go.. you did so much for the Player community and created the kind of content this game needs.
I was in doubt if i would return as well, but am giving DU a try again now...
even though they broke their promises.
Thx for all you have done for DU!

Thank you for making DU Special. You will be missed, but I have a feeling in the end will all be missed sooner or later. For me it's the asteroid mining and the excuses about planetary hand mining. I accept there was lag and issues. But I don't accept this forced gang bang of asteroids myself. I was a gold backer maybe not someone high up there but I was sold on 3 things...

    1) Exploration of a Galaxy
    2) A Galaxy with multiple bodies in the sense we can hop onto a ship and go to the deep unknown this was the whole point of deep space probes, etc as the chance finding something was slim.
    3) Mining of Planets... Now it's just a forced mining game to encourage us to PvP really and not about PvE... Even Starbase did a much better method of asteroids that I would trade in a heartbeat... Then again NMS, Empyrion, Hell Space Engineers for some reason all can do mining better then what DU offers.

    UPDATE
Given a conversation with NQ this weekend and expected rule clarifications next week (not sure which way, just clarified rules) I plan to continue playing for the moment. This might end up being like when you plan to quit a job, you are offered some so you stay, and you end up quitting 6 months later, but we will see. I honestly do want DU to work out, I didnt put 2 years of coding into it because I want it to fail. When you have a game with GM enforced rules, they must be clear and they must be enforced, especially in PvE areas where all other players have no recourse. If we had territory warfare and could have dealt with this on our own, it would be a totally separate situation. Anyway, ArchHUD will be maintained and continue to be improved for now (as much as I was ever able to improve it).

It is with some amount of deep regret that I say goodbye to DU.

I have tried to support the game, beyond ArchHUD, but NQ's attitude to blatant griefing is just too much.

This is not how you help a game grow.  We all know there are lots of issues, but I was hoping that the wipe and release would be a nice fresh start.

I want to thank everyone who has supported ArchHUD (and ButtonHud before that) and who have provided support and kind words over the 2 years.

I hated the fact we have T1 bots buying ore injecting unlimited quanta into the economy (why should coal be worth anything if no player willing to pay for it).
I hated there are bots selling elements (takes way player market niche setting ceiling prices)
I hated the fact that there is no decay of elements (life count is bugged, nothing on my ship goes below 2 lives left, and of course static elements never run out).
I hated that we didnt get Territory Warfare (original promise)
I hated that their solution to pvp problems was a stupid floor max speed no matter mass of ship.  (And floor burn speed no matter size of ship).

I was willing to overlook it, and hope they would make the game better, but ....

I cannot continue supporting a game where the dev's ignore blatant griefing and refuse to enforce their own rules.  (see below post).

So I am done.  I wish you all well, and will see you around the pond.

So long, and thanks for all the fish.

    Archaegeo

(Regarding ArchHUD - I will leave it up for the time being.  I will not be providing support for it though going forward.  There are many who will, and someone might pick up the mantel).

Keep in mind, that not all 12th gen CPU's even have E-cores.
    12100, 300, 400, 500, and 600 only have P-cores, until you get to the 12600K which has 6 P-cores and 4 E-cores.

So anyone who has upgraded to 12th gen, but chosen to get a cheaper CPU "for now", could just have no E-cores to begin with.

Only Intel 12th gen have E-cores on PC atm. To avoid E-cores, avoid 12600K and higher.

You could also force the DU process to only run on your P cores. You can do it with the task manager; although I don't believe it persists after closing the game. I believe there are 3rd party programs that will make this persistent, however.

AvA was never going to be like an FPS, it would be lock and fire just like CvC. Seems kind of tricky though like how would it handle obstructions...

I appreciate the idea to release the game through Steam, but I have an intense feeling it's going to get crucified in the reviews.

Steam will open the game up to a wider audience as it deserves and needs the playerbase, but releasing as a full release with a sub when it's still missing its core pillars and features will not go down well. If it was through an early access system players may be more forgiving but as it stands I feel it will not go well.

    I hope I'm proved wrong.

This was the most disappointing stream I've seen for a major announcement you literally didn't release any new feature rich new additions.

I expected a major announcement to be new systems coming for launch like territory warfare which was due last year or energy systems.

Do you folks realise adding either of those two features later on is not ideal especially energy ?.

I totally understand the planets and I also equally hoped a chance to move them all closer to avoid the snooze fest of flying slowboating.

Anyway it's disheartening indeed after all these years playing.  Your not convincing people to give it a go.

Yeah, sadly NQ don't have a great track-record keeping promises.

(31:58) "Whatever you do after beta starts is going to stay in one way or another... You will get what we call for the moment 'magic blueprints'... blueprints with everything included in it so you will be able to respawn the things as soon as we restart the server. So we don't like to call it 'wipe'... The key thing is the beta is really the start... You can start to invest yourself in the game. We guarantee that you're not going to be losing everything at some point... the universe is blank again, and you have to start from scratch."

"With future wipes, as much of your assets as possible will be kept between before and after the wipe, in particular constructs will always be preserved, if necessary with special one-time-use blueprints ("Packaged Blueprints") that do not require ingredients..." ⬇

I can't help but laugh at peoples saying "Now this is the release, there wont be another wipe !" or "You really thought there will be no wipe after a beta ?"

    Beta release :
NQ - "No more full wipe now, we PROMISE !"
Players - "Yeay ! Let's play for real now, invest our time in it !"

    Re-release :
NQ - "Here is the final full wipe !"
Players who played years - "F"
Players who have not played - "Yeay ! Get rid of all those beta cheaters ! Now I will play !"

Also NQ in this annoucement :
"We hope to have only one release"

    It's HILARIOUS.
    Good bye everyone.

At the moment how this is setup it could really be a semi browser game as the wait for talents and new schematics will be the best progress you can get add checking markets to that and, technically if those things can be done on a browser bar probably far over 50% of current players have no reason to log in.
Since the daily stuff is all minigames nobody asked for and the actual still is limited more and more everyday we kinda have not much left then to check inventories, markets, talents and maybe industry. And with the crappy chat system where there are 10 to 20 boxes to shuffle i do not even think about clicking those, for social chat ingame this system kinda sucks.
If it was released with everything we had pre 0.23 i would have believed it would work, and even that the progress on to do stuff would get there, the momentum was right.  A slight F.Up on 0.23 with the clear message that it would not be turned back what followed by mass exploids and developers who did really fishy stuff Killed momentum. And it has not been back since.

How the hell do you manage to loose players during a global closedown where everyone has nothing else to do at home then play.
Forgot to make a plan? Server tech is really that bad? We all remember lag-city i guess but that was a perfect moment to learn and grow and evolve. Sorry to say but i think you threw out the kid with the bathwater and throwing JC out did not do any good either as he was the embodiment of the whole vision. Although slightly blurred in the end he did bring the fire we all loved

For me this new schematics system is a terrible mistake, I guess I will discover it wen it comes live, since yes I know it will be forced to us, but so far I can only imagine it as a mindless repetitive task, another way to charge us a taxe.

at this point the only thing I want to know, when is this wipe going to hit us, or are you guys traying to make players abandon the game update after update so that once no one will be left ppl won’t be upset to lose there stuff?

I'm not sure if these questions or the answers are really what players are currently concerned about.
I often have the impression with all the Lua questions that you didn't want to create a game, but a playground for Lua writers, whether professional or as a hobby.
The question about Sanctuary and Haven was unfortunately uninteresting for me. It would be much more important how a game release looks like with these two moons and the players. In the event of a "wipe" for all players, will there only be Haven or do you "have" to keep your Sanctuary tile? If we were to lose everything, does the new system with the base and launch plane also come to Sanctuary with landing and choosing what to build?
When will there finally be information for us players on how DualUniverse will continue? Fewer and fewer are playing because hardly anyone is motivated to play or even log in anymore due to the wipe idea. It's a terrible state of affairs at the moment - why are you delaying such information?

    I agree with Zarcata.
The only thing ANYONE wants to know really is:
"Wipe or no wipe?", "how much?", "When?"

Everything else is irrelevant until we know that.

Bottom line is that it is for the game engine to ensure the correct cores are used for specific tasks.

On can talk about the issue all you want but this is something NQ will need to address and soon (tm) as use of thes ecores will become more and nmore prominent. As I see it, this is not something you can just brush off and make "not a priority right now" unless you very clearly and ufront inform "potential) customers that a sof yet you are not effectively supporting intel 12th gen CPU technology.

Saying "just disable the e-cores when you want to play DU" is not good enough and really is a cop-out to try and push the requirement to deal with this ahead of you. Doing that will only result in it coming back to bite you when for instance GFN mocves to these CPUs to just name something.

A good reference document would be this:
    https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/developer/articles/guide/12th-gen-intel-core-processor-gamedev-guide.html

Also, WIN11 is considerably more efficient and effective with supporting 12th gen CPUs, you should really not use WIN10 on these and I'd say it would be good to have system requirements reflect that if a system runs a 12th core CPU, it need to run Windows 11 to allow you as a dev to only focus on these cpu's running the OS that supports them best.
