    Tried out four different outposts on 4 separate accounts and I was very impressed. The only issue I encounter was the being unable to deploy the speeder BP as I "was too far away". This happened on all four characters, with 4 different speeders. The outposts themselves we're all very well done, giving the new player something nice to own right away gets them feeling invested and spares us the unsightly platforms and roofless buildings of the past. I would recommend expanding on this a little. Add the construction tutorial to the end of the intro FTUE and have the player add something onto their new house, this will really cement the feel of ownership and make it more meaningful. If we actually had player-made places to visit in the VR, (There weren't any on the PTS... ) There would be so many inspiring examples for new players to get excited about, their little heads would explode thinking about all the possibilities. **Shameless don't wipe excuse** I also really liked the tutorials being on the screen right there in the outpost and the Planet info LUA screen was a brilliant example of what those new screens can do for us. Can't wait to see what players do with it. Fair warning, I was able to enter build mode on the lander before jumping in the seat to start the sequence, AND I was able to remove everything including the rocket tank and engine that usually disappears when you land. (Thanks Archaegeo)
        All said and done, the FTUE was very impressive, I'm excited for the new players coming into the game.

    The Dual Universe egg hunt has begun Noveans!

    From Saturday, April 16th to Monday, April 25th, please join us for An Egg-cellent Adventure!

    All around Alioth you will randomly find colored eggs on the ground as well as some other in plain sight places. Some of them you may find often (common), some of them might be a rare find or if your egg detecting skills meet the challenge, you may find a special Novaquark staff egg! All eggs contain gifts from the Novaquark team, so do not forget to smash them open to see what’s inside!

    There have been several players who have already found some eggs, so you’re going to need to be quick, lucky, as well as very observant!

    There’s more! This Egg-tastic celebration is also a competition. Each egg is worth a certain amount of point(s), which means the rarer the egg, the more points you will get. Colors include white eggs (most common), green, yellow, blue, red and the very special Novaquark staff egg which is the most valuable of them all!

    Once you find an egg, there will be a special code inside (read carefully!). Copy the code and enter it into this simple form that is linked inside the egg and register your code to start accumulating points!

    Helpful Hint: Start your search by looking around the Point of Interests (POIs) around Alioth.

    Good luck Noveans, be egg-cellent to each other.

    Hey another thing to consider. We veteran player regularly lift up newer player by giving them quanta, ships, territory and resources. When u take all that away we won't give two shits about the pricks that cost us all our hard earned stuff and will hoard the resources we would have freely given them to help them start the game

    How much WORK or EFFORT I have put into this game is irrelevant, and there are very few who can argue they have put in more time and effort into building then I have.

    I have no expectation of work product, in this or any other game. Nor is there any legal right to it, in this or any other game. Games have run for years, only to shut down overnight with no warning. No expectation of compensation, no compensation will ever come.

     I have my knowledge, and if the Stroke I had in January didn't wipe that, then for sure NQ can't.

    All I truly care about is that we hit the ground at release with solid:
    1. Lore/Cannon for it all. Write a damn story to explain it.
    2. A functional communication system. (long neglected and def NOT ready for release)
    3. The ability to choose how much audio and visual "noise" we want the game to display. IE a functional UI with settings controls. (long neglected and def NOT ready for release)
    4. A well thought out plan on how to start an economy, and how to adjust it when it goes out of wack (which it will)
    5. A strong and robust set of game mechanics that are FUN to play, and prioritize those who want CONSTRUCT a civilization over those who what to hack, slay, and steal.

    give me that, and I'm willing to start over building shacks and scooters.

    Think it may have to do with how expensive Exotic schematics will have to be with the current system. 1.4 Bil Quanta just for a single schematic, not to mention all the part schematics leading to the element...

    As the only real voxel game on the market, Dual Universe has a tight grasp on voxel builders.  As a voxelmancer prior to the new addition of voxel tools, I'll be here wipe or not.  As someone who comes from the survival genre game background where wipes are common I am used to regular wipes.  While I don't approve of regular wipes after release, I do feel that so much of DU has changed between when I started and today and will again at release.  I'm honestly tired of rebuilding to fit new rule sets. (wing stacking, brakes, gun sizes, etc.). That said I feel if there is a wipe I would be happy to continue playing with the following concessions;

    1. Element sizing and hitboxes are set to their final size and placement rules (no more adjusting physical size, only tweaking balance)
    2. NQ sets the "Launch" or "after wipe" the final rules they want for the game. No more "financial adjustments" (ie: core slot changes)
    3. ANY player that logged into DU and paid for time DURING the beta be provided 3 months free time at launch and an increase from 90 talents/minute to 240/minute for the first 3 months. (This would both financially appease the 2 years of loss for me, and help to restore the game talents to a point where content can appear quickly)
    4.  Minimum price SELL ORDERs are implemented in the game.  This will stabilize pricing and allow people from miners to industrialists to make profit along the way (unless they are silly about it)

    As a builder with hundreds of constructs spread across several organizations, I don't care about constructs, I will just build a new place, with new ideas and new growth.  (personal opinions)

    The largest pool of people that will be upset will be the industrialists, these people spent so much time managing their factories to get them operational that there is literally a hard sell for them to reset.  In order for them to re-establish themselves up to the tier they currently have reached in 2 years will take a shorter time without schematics due to the need to earn additional quanta and this overall is a positive, provided their profit margins are safe through "minimum sell order prices"

    To the nay-sayers "If you wipe I'll quit" well it was a pleasure knowing many of you.  But lets be honest here, many people threatened to quit at literally every beta update NQ has had since launching the beta multiple years ago and yes many good friends of ours have moved on already.  With so many planned changes, and yes a big change in initial development plans, NQ has adjusted the game in good and bad ways. They followed their general goal and realized that they over-reached on some of them in a way that many people will not be satisfied with, but there was no point during the beta that NQ could wipe even if they wanted to and sustain a significant enough volume of beta testers to get to where we are today.

    Final thoughts

    I'm PRO-full wipe, and have always been. I have billions of quanta in assets and I'm sitting on hundreds of millions of ore. My voxel box alone is worth at least a billion in the current economy.  I currently have more elements and voxel than I could ever hope to use on my own, and that is the primary reason I have orgmates.  Yes we are a small group that is dedicated to just having fun, but we have made connections and friendships in DU that we could not find elsewhere.  I'm sure many many of you are the same.  DU is about "community" and once you realize this as a player you start to enjoy yourself more.  From IC's fly ins to the DU-creator website, most of us just love being creative and showing stuff off to each other.  That is where the true magic of DU is.  This magic will NOT disappear with a wipe.  For those that remain after the wipe, you will get to see a new magical world evolve. For those that choose to depart, you will find something missing in your gaming life and wish/hope/pray for something to fill that niche.  This is what most EQ Next: Landmark players have felt, articulated and searched endlessly for, until DU arrived.

    Whatever NQ's choice is, I will remain a player. For those that leave. We will miss you.

    The upcoming 0.29 Athena update is about more than just PvP and improved visuals. Among the many features this update brings is the Aegis Market.
    Read on to learn more about this new commercial hub in space.

      SPACE ECONOMY
    With the introduction of The Aegis Market, players may now directly access a bot-free market housed in the void of space. Located in a zero-gravity environment, the Market station provides a new dynamic in the transport of cargo, in that merchandise can be bought and sold without the need to make planetfall.

    Players can now transport resources, including from the new Alien Core Units, and sell them at a market using craft designed purely to function in space. This, along with the updates to our Space Warfare feature can provide new design routes to the next generation of player designed spaceships in Dual Universe.

    NEW PATHS AND AVENUES TO EXPLORE

    The Aegis Market is a vast place and it’s surrounded by landing pads for ships to dock. These pads have teleporters which can then take the players straight to the core of the market. The landing pads are all named after the planet nearest to them, and are only about 1KM away from the Aegis.

    A landing pad where ships can dock.

    Teleporters leading players to the market.

    The market is located at the very center point of the safe zone, at roughly equal distance from Alioth, Madis and Thades. There is also a public warp beacon to the Aegis Market available.

    Please note that the Aegis Market has an interdiction zone surrounding it. You can't deploy a space core within 50KM of its location. You can however, deploy a dynamic core in this surrounding zone - just like in Aphelia territories on the planets.

    SPACE MARKETS – SYSTEM EXPANSION

    While we study the impact and player reactions to the addition of the Aegis Market, we will only be implementing this single new space market. If we can determine that the implementation of this feature is a positive addition to our game, we will explore the option of adding more of them in the future.

    We’d like to invite you to share your thoughts with us on this feature. Would you like to see more space markets in Dual Universe? What is your initial reaction to their implementation? Please Let us know your feedback here!

    My take on the DU FTUE back-story (in jest of course)

    Okay so to recap, we were cryogenically frozen ...
    Travelled thousands of light-years across the universe ...
    looking for a new Earth like planet to call home.

    The Ark ship finally gets to Alioth (Hallelujah!) and we are awoken by the A.I. ...
    who puts us in a drop pod (lander) to start our new life ...
    but due to some gross miscalculation the drop pod shoots in the opposite direction and we land on a 'moon' devoid of surface water.

    The A.I. did however take the time to mine all the necessary ores ...
    in order to build infrastructure (institutes, markets, mission hubs, etc.) ...
    on not only one but ALL the moons and planets in the Helios system (and in the middle of the safe zone)!

    Not only that but the A.I. also took the time (while we were frozen, I might add) ...
    to stock these markets (except Haven) with items and schematics for us to purchase from her ...
    with the daily allowance that she gives to us for surviving yet another day in her reality!

    She coddles us along, providing tutorials and opportunities to learn new skills ...
    which in the end provides more income to her data 'bank' ...
    through territory purchases, market taxes, non-HQ territory taxes, etc.

    All the while pushing us towards PvP ...
    To fight against one another for capturing rare resources ...
    in an A.I. calculated misdirection.

    The real enemy has been in front of us all this time ...
    the true gameplay is Player versus A.I. ...
    Down with our Overlord Aphelia!!!  🙃

    Shouldn't there be some more variation here, like freights weigh the least, maneuvers in the middle, and military heavy but powerful with high fuel usage. You've got the variation in the fuel consumption vs. output, but I feel like weight should also be taken into consideration.

    We hope everyone who attended our Fools Defense event held on our PTS on April 1st had fun.
    We especially did, and thanks to our fellow Noveans, we had a ‘blast’!

    As some of you might remember in our previous announcement for the Fool’s Defense event, there were some prizes to be had. We are pleased to announce that the winners have been chosen and the Wheel of Foolish Fortune is ready to start spinning! Which prizes will our foolish actions provide those that dare take a spin? Find out on the PTS on Saturday April 9th, 14:00 UTC for all the wheel spinning action.

    After combing through our logs with a fine tooth comb, we have chosen six participants whose bravery, dedication and foolishness left the server room sizzling. We are now inviting them to prove their luck and talent once again by taking the Wheel for a spin!

    Walter - For landing the final blow causing the destruction of the defenders station, many developers were harmed in the process. (Yes, we checked the logs thoroughly.) Copperlein - For being so good to us on the PTS, yet destroying Nautilus A’s Core, and breaking our heart. Dronko - For destroying Nautilus B’s Core, and again breaking our heart. (Et tu, Brute?) Wolfram  - For being devs’ best friend by reporting bugs on our forum. Mastuga - For being such a Trooper with the amount of ammo (pew, pew, pew) they used during the event.  Honvik - For forcing so many players to return to the resurrection pod. Skyreaper - For coming back to life so many times we thought they were a cat!
    Winners please present yourself on the PTS on Saturday, April 9th at 14:00 UTC for your chance to spin the Wheel! If you are unable to attend, a Novaquark representative will spin the Wheel in your place. Prizes will be given out shortly after the spinning of the Wheel has concluded.

    Please note: All players will need to go through the new FTUE on the PTS in order to participate in this event, please allow yourself enough time to go through it.

    Players who wish to join in the fun on the PTS are welcome, teleport over to PVP Platform 2 (::pos{0,0,2729026.2814,-98851321.2156,-1455512.2758}) where you can witness first hand the spoils of war!

    Good info, thanks for the devblog. But how exactly do the stasis weapons work? Do they decrease the max speed of the target by a flat amount? Or do they reduce engine/retro/adjustor thrust? Or do they increase the the effective mass of the ship, sort of like ships currently behave when approaching max speed? Does this affect the target's adjustor maneuverability?

    EDIT: Also, could you give us the formula for the ship speed changes, so we can get some expectations of how fast ships might be?

    Hi Noveans,

    First thank you everyone for your feedback about the Athena PTS Announcement. We saw a lot of questions and concerns raised, and we will try to adress them as much as possible in the coming days. We want to bring some clarification already to some of the topics mentioned in this forum thread:

    @fridaywitch
    @Thunderblaze
    @PotatoMart
    You caught onto the word “wipe” that was in the announcement. Please know that:
    As of today, there has not been a decision made about a server reset also known as a wipe. It is something that we are aware of that has been causing very heated player discussions and when we have more information about this topic, it will definitely be passed along to everyone as soon as we can.
      Nothing more has been said than what has been already mentioned on Discord earlier this year - that we were discussing the topic internally - so this is just a follow-up of what has been already said (and makes the thing more official), with the addition that the team will come to a conclusion soon. At some point, we need to address the Elephant in the room.
      We are also aware that it has been a recurring question since Beta Launch, and though we weren't able to give a proper answer on that topic for a very long time, the wait is going to come to an end. A lot of options have been discussed. The final decision will not be made on a whim, the team will be taking into consideration and pondering carefully all factors and sides to the topic. More info on that in the coming weeks to enter into the details. If we don't give details right now, it's because the discussions are still in progress and it's a bit too soon to confirm anything.
      We understand that some of you may feel as if we were not caring or being direspectful towards you, our players. However, if we do communicate on this sensible topic ahead of the official release, it's precisely because we do care about the Community and your feedback. What could have been disrespectful would be to announce the decisions one or two weeks before Official Release, giving no time for you to express your feedback. In our opinion, you deserve to know what are the ongoing topics currently discussed internally at Novaquark (even though we can't share the details yet). At least, you know which topics are coming on the table soon (or which ones are already on the table).
      Some of you may also feel that we're not communicating enough, or maintaining a "deafening silence". Please keep in mind we promised to have better communication and better transparency with the Community. We are currently communicating what we can communicate right now. Not answering on the spot, right after the announcement, is not a sign of ignoring the Community. It may require gathering feedback first, discussing it with the team, before being able to give a proper answer. Replying in the 24/48 hours is usually a common time window. We also completely understand that it may seem frustrating right now to not have more details and we ask you for just a bit more patience.
      Please keep also in mind that we do value your support and the time you invested in Dual Universe so far, and no matter which decision the team will make in the future, we take this part seriously into account in the decision making process, so you won't start from zero even in the most drastic scenarios considered. @CptLoRes
    @blundertwink
    About “this is all we get for the final game”:
    Please understand that if Athena is the last major update before Official Release, it doesn’t mean it’s the last update before Official Release, we may have one or more smaller updates before official release, having less content, but content that could really improve the game and/or the user experience a lot.
      Official Release doesn’t mean “the final game” at all. The roadmap will continue after the official release and many more updates are planned.
    We hope this clarifies a bit the Novaquark team's stance on those topics.

    Best Regards,
    Nyzaltar.
