  1. I don't understand why NQ is making so many drastic short sighted design changes without fixing the core of the game.


    I have played this game for over 1 year now and have only seen them take features and ruin mechanics without seeing them fully realized. All while at the same time ignoring basic QOL features like what I mentioned.

    It just requires:

    • VR taxes by Distance
    • VR and all actions using Calibration Charges as Action charges since you are calibrating the VR stations, Calibrating Scanners, Calibrating MUs, etc.
    • Diminishing Returns for those constantly Running Missions, Scanners, MUs, etc the more you use it with more efficiency drops.

     

    So for those actually running missions legitly to pay taxes who arent constantly running missions they get bigger cuts then those doing 2 trips a day all week if the diminishing returns are based on the weekly tax cycle.

     

    They could also slowly raise the weight of packages you recieve the more missions you run to also burn off more costs for running the missions if your ship was perfectly tuned for the old mission system and is not build for escalting weight each mission you run and the escalating expenses in space gas.

     

     

    Imagine trying to handicap the ONLY money generation in the game because "wahhhhhhh wahhhhhhh boo hoooooo"


    This change will effectively bleed players and kill the game.

    People barely want to play the game in its current state. Punishing players because you cant make friends is not our problem.

    Canceling subscriptions and leaving people from the game is an excellent indicator for a developer - in my mind.. And if i realy dont like i just doit..

    But if 20 people leave and 500 for example return, then I'm sorry, you were probably wrong. And if it is the other way around, you have nothing to do there, because there will be no people left and you were right. I do not know why you complicate it .. As if you are engaged in mazahism,

    Well I certainly hope you see all the people who have posted have at one point last weekend played the PTS so they have reasons to voice he concerns.

     

    I personally think this patch is 1000x worse than 0.23 and already seeing the death of all of the game "loops" or lack there of. This was not the game people signed on for and is regressing to pre 1999 levels of being lame. Meanwhile competitors are implementing features DU is removing.

     

    Having people pay a sub and having beta codes while calling it a beta when CLEARLY its barely and ALPHA is quite the joke.

     

    If you are going to make sweeping changes like this and you tell ALL of your players they know nothing when we all can see the disaster headed towards the game the death of your game will be the result. I have seen many players come and check in on the update and have packed up all their stuff or straight gave up their whole accounts because of this.

     

    I see how you can remain hopeful but seeing the past performance and the response to the questions in the video there is no way this will be an unmitigated disaster for DU and what ever happens after will determine its fate. Cant play the markets if nobody is selling anything due to low pop.

    Based on this calculation I would say the upkeep costs are too low. Or did I miss something?

     

    How much do you get paid to play this game? I sure as heck don't want it to be a job. Since the end goal is to have paying subs. I don't see a high tax beneficial to the games longevity.

     

    Also you literally did your calculations based on your current knowledge of mining and its impacts within this economy.

    Mining becoming a passive phase of the game essentially puts a speed limit on how much you can produce. HOWEVER since its steady all the time the market will slowly go back to PRE HYPER INFLATION prices like 35/l for t1
     

    Economics is fun.

    NQ has strongly hinted that the game will be released by the end of this year. So Demeter going live is pretty much going to be the "finished" game they are going to release.

    Is the game ready to be released? No, not even close. But as mentioned, NQ has been going in circles for many years now, and they are running out of money.

    This will be the death of the game.

    We're on a building game and people who build non-Nano ships get a PvP penalty.

    I allow myself to suggest some "quick" change that can be made that will allow for a healthier game for everyone in PvP :

    1) Modification of the cross section mechanics :
     

    The chances of a hit should no longer be determined based on the elements / voxels that you put on your ship.
    => These must be determined by the size of the Core Unit.
    This will allow people to have fancy design SCFI ships and not be penalized in combat.
    If you want to have a ship with less chance of getting hit: use a smaller sized core.

    2) Modified firing ranges for weapons

    A weapon larger than the size of the attacked core must not be able to hit that ship.
    If an XS weapon has 30 kilometers of range. A core L will only be able to start shooting at it at 50 kilometers range.
    You already have the "CORE UNIT LOCK DISTANCE" feature in the game. You just have to reactivate it.

    This will give people a chance to try to escape

    3) Shield balancing
    So that there is no new abuse on the shields, they must be limited in use.
    Shield L only on ship L, shield M only on ship M ect ...
    You did it for the weapons (offensive means), the defensive means must be balanced the same.

    I will be satisfied with these 3 essential changes for the good health of the PvP in game.
    It's not perfect, but it give the time for you think and experience better system for 2022.
     

    As it stands, you are going to send hundreds of unprepared players to their deaths.

    And the frustration will be there.

     



    You must have missed the part where they said there were more PVP changes already slated for DEMETER.

    This is turning out to be such a fun game. First ship multi-crew is decimated, then ground mining. Whats next? A space sim where they take your money and remove features they promise and never deliver?

    The whole thing is miserable.  I'm waiting for NQ to do it properly before I even think about selling scripts.  Until then my scripts are for me only.

    Imagine spending hundreds of hours of  work on a script in game that you would like to sell for a small bit of quanta. DRM enables that.

     

    Remember. You don't need to enable DRM if you don't want to.

    Trailer even shows one of the ships firing on another and actually hitting it !!! Moreover, the voxels of the other ship react to the hit and bend !!!

    Only half implementing systems as they go. Imagine a civ building game where all you do is pvp. Why even play at that point? What is there to play?
