Thanks for the tip I will edit the post and add a link.

Yes, support roles are as important as any fighting role, the only demand is that everyone can fight, so everyone will have training, equipment and all to be a serious threat. BUt yes, this organsiation will include itall, no matter what you want to play as we will find a place for you or create one if neccessary

Welcome aboard, starting strong I see.

Recommending a link to the org page, it might bring in some more visitors too lazy/busy to use search at the moment.

I like the description, nice take on the usually elusive morality questions and about taking sides. Does your art of war also include support roles, like logistics (and maybe medical)?

A Mercenary Corporation with one purpose: the Art of War.
We exist simply to facilitate an honorable way to do battle on all fronts.

We always abide by three values:

    Duty
    -To our comrades
    -To ourselves
    -To War

    Honor
-If it makes you question your value, don’t do it
-If others question their path, inspire them
-Make others proud to have met you

    Dedication
-Take the time to do the job well
-Put it all on the line
    -Be proud of the profession

    Introduction video

We are mercenaries but we do not destroy without cause, we work for the ones who we deem worthy, and the payment is always fair.

If we find someone worthy of the honor we will invite them to join, no matter from where they originate.

The duty of any member is to train, learn and experience all they can about war, to further develop the Art of Bladesin through it. This will always be done with honor and respect, and with complete dedication to the Art of War.

    Currently working on:

    -Creating a 24/7 active organisation,
-Bladesin Corps need leaders: 5 Grand Masters (1 from each continent),
As well as Directors for the divisions of Logistics, Mining and Trade
-At least 4 regular members from each continent.

    New associates:
    DICE

We will also be joining the Alioth Aerospace Expo!

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    BMC Guidelines:

    - A Bladesinner should at all times develop oneself and aim to become more powerful, but at the same time view the Corps as oneself, and aim to develop it the same way one develop oneself. If doubts arise as to how this is accomplished, seek guidance in the higher ranks.

    - If you dedicate yourself to War, you dedicate yourself to the Bladesin Corps.

    - Unless the Corps is officially taking a job that entails it, a Bladesinner should stay out of the business of Good vs Evil and Right or Wrong, though the Bladesinner's own nature should not be denied or suppressed. Instead a Bladesinner should be true to their personality, using their own personal dispositions to make themselves more powerful.

    - We demand respect from you. Disrespect and arrogance can gravely hurt you and your allies.

    ---------------------------------
    Rules
    ---------------------------------
    1. you may never do anything to damage the reputation of the Bladesin Corps or any of its members. This includes acting in a way that reflects badly on BMC, like bullying, piracy, and other actions that does not follow our guidelines and lead words. Rulebreakers will be Exiled.

    2. A Bladesinner may never, ever kill or seriously hurt another Bladesinner, either directly or indirectly, The only time this is ignored is during Training sessions. Breaking this rule results in being Exiled.

    3. The Corps position on good and evil is neutral, members who are good or evil are accepted either way, but Honour, Duty and Dedication is always top priorities, if we have a rampager that think it is fun to wipe out entire cities to take out one target and in the process kills millions of non combatant civilians that in no way have anything to do with the battle at hand, he breaks this Rule of Alignment, sure be evil, but with Honor, Duty and Dedication. And on the other hand, if we have a hero type player that because of him being good choose to take a path that endangers the success of his or hers mission, he or she has also broken the Rule of Alignment. The rulebreakers are Exiled.

(If you see anyone breaking any of these rules, screenshot everything and send to leadership so we can handle it. If it includes destruction of property, you will be compensated.)

    SALARY FOR BMC MEMBERS:

The first few months BMC will keep a majority of the revenue to build up the org. Thats why 40% of the revenue is divided between the BMC members that carried out the mission.

When we get to the point where we have gotten off the ground and start doing bigger jobs, we will divide a larger part to the BMC members who carried out the mission, specifics will come when we know how much.

If any members want to use BMC resources and personnel to build something and sell, 25% of the revenue will go to BMC for using its resources to create and distribute it. A specific contract will be drawn up for such occasions.

I am very proud to introduce the latest product from Evil, Inc!

We have been working to develop tools that benefit the community, and the first such tool is a new data tracking website for Dual Universe at www.du-stats.com

This site will function very much like zkillboard.com does for EVE Online. Right now it is very basic and only shows a map of the community. This will expand as time goes on with new features coming online over time. Most of the back end tools have already been built and feature development is now more a matter of web design than anything else! Upcoming features include forum statistics, friends list tracking, in depth user profiles, change over time displays, alt detection and organization auditing!

    Now for some FAQ:

What can I use this for? This is a good tool for checking on people who are in your organization, or want to be. It's also a good tool to see which orgs share a lot of members or figure out who that person you are talking to is.

Is the data real time? No. The data is not real time and represents the last time when the website refreshed its data.

How often does the data update? Depends. It generally is updated once every two days, but sometimes can be a bit faster or slower.

Why isn't it real time? There is no need for real time data at this stage. Updating that frequently takes a lot of server resources. The update time will be reduced once there is a need for faster data. When the game comes out, the goal is for a 15 minute update time.

Will there be new features? Yes. This is very much an in-development project. Also, I'm not great at web design, so it will be simplistic for a while.

How long have you been working on it? About 4 months.

What do I do if I found a bug or security flaw? Please either report it here or pm me.

I want my org to be excluded from this, can you remove it? Nope. If it exists on the official site, it exists here. If you don't want people to see it, don't create it.

I searched for my name and didn't find anything. Why? The map that is currently there only shows people who are in an organization. If you are not in an org, your name will not appear. Future features will show accounts even if they are not in any orgs.

Does it work on mobile devices? Maybe. It isn't currently designed for that, but hopefully will be in the future.

Hi there folks! My username is Morkeyest.

An MMO Build-a-verse, FPS, & RPG all in one, containing accessible and near-complete emergent gameplay? I imagine I'm far from nthe first to say that this game is a dream come true. Unfortunately, I currently don't have an operating system that would be able to handle what the specs of the game will probably be, but I will most definitely be investing in one. Until then, I'd love to be a part of the community and the journeys ahead.

In terms of factions, a lot of the organizations' summary pages are very thorough and do contain articles of interest, so I'm wondering: if I were to apply for citizenship of a federal entity within DU, which one would you personally suggest applying to?

    Hi everyone!

The following organizations will be removed very soon:

    1) Internet Banking Federation (IBF): https://community.dualthegame.com/organization/intergalactic-banking-federation-ibf
    Reasons:
    - Real life people represented
    - Real life company names involved
    - Imaginary people from popular IP represented

    2) United Gérard Depardieu: https://community.dualthegame.com/organization/united-gerard-depardieu
    Reason:
    - Real life people represented

    3) What is an Alt: https://community.dualthegame.com/organization/what-is-an-alt
    Reason:
    - Fake accounts spam

About the preventive measures we have in mind (we would like to have your feedback on this):
Giving the right to join an organization only if the user is a backer is a bit over the top in our opinion.
However, we are considering to give the right of creating organizations only to backers. This should limit abuses on this topic.

    @Warden:
This is not explicitely forbidden at the moment as the Forum chart doesn't cover some cases that could occur on the Community Portal.
However we should update this soon.

All in all, it's also a matter of common sense:
As long as an action can have a negative impact on the Community Portal (flooding with fake organizations, fake accounts, and inappropriate content), damaging the visibility of legit organizations and/or members, yes, some action will be taken from Novaquark side (and later, with the help of the Community Portal team).

Regarding this phenomenon, while it won't impact directly the game development, it will impact it indirectly.
    Here is how it works:

    - As the community is growing, relying that mods will handle always this kind of things manually eternally wouldn't be very smart.

    - The most logical way of handling such situation, would be to update the portal in a way to dissuade such behavior.

    - Until now, the Community Portal has been developed internally, by developers who are also developing the game. At the moment, updating the portal means we take dev time that would be used on the game itself otherwise. That's an issue, we are aware of that, and that's why we are currently looking for recruiting a Web developper, that will be dedicated to the task, in order to have everyone focusing on their own specialities and to prevent any disruption in the workflow of the developers who are supposed to work on the game itself.

    - Handling such abuses on the Community Portal is also time taken away from Community Managers to work on more constructive things. True, this is part of our job, but while we are handling this kind of situation, we aren't doing something else (regular reports to the dev team, new wave for the Alpha team, internal tasks related to the Alpha phase preparation, internal tasks related to the Community Portal, Moderators selection, helping the Customer Support, writing Kickstarter Updates and Newsletters... and that's far from being the whole list).

    Best regards,
    Nyzaltar.

I'll throw in the key question into the room:

Is it forbidden? The forum rules, after a quick glance at least, do not imply this directly or I missed the key parts.

Of course it looks like a silly alt-paradise or network, all things considered. Some affiliates share the same style of introduction post or logo, many profiles appear "bare-bones" and there doesn't seem to be external sources that show that the group has a prior history or traces somewhere - according to a very quick search anyway - thus making it more unlikely that an existing organization came here "at once" with various members. No website was linked when I looked around.

It seems justified to make fun of it, given the very very low chance of it being legit...

But it doesn't seem to be forbidden so far. Frowned upon by the community, sure. If everyone is generally against it (I, for one, think it's amusing seeing the obvious attempt) or if NQ is against it, consider adding some rule against fake news networks or members.

That way, you can directly call for official assistance (mods) when these cases pop up.

On another note, I'd very much look forward to some sort of response from the organization / people in question about the accusation.

But before a mob with pitchforks comes around, I'd just smirk at it and move on.

While I'm aware that there won't be actual orbits in Dual Universe, I've been playing Hellion quite a bit lately and I've grown fond of its navigation interface and mechanics.

Which has me thinking about Dual Universe, of course...

We haven't been told much about exactly how the mechanics of navigating to another planet or solar system might look, suffice to say I think we've heard more about the technological mechanics than the interface itself.

I think it would be a noteworthy addition to Dual Universe if the interface for determining where you are going to arrive when you set out at warp speed for a planet or new solar system, operated in a similar way to the navigation interface of Hellion.

To illustrate what I'm referring to, here is an image with labels for the various parts of the navigation interface:

It would be an interesting way of determining where you are going to land after you exit warp and would give navigators/pilots a bit more flexibility. It would also give a way for large fleets to organize on a specific position in space.

I was also thinking that this could play a part in how solar systems are explored and plotted out, wherein you would need to either put a probe into an "orbit" (not really an orbit because the game won't support that, but for illustration purpose, we'll use that word) or yourself, then initiate a scan of the surrounding area.

Assuming there is different levels of messages and communication within statements (science, n' all), I of course can't judge the underlying intent of the previous or initial posts.

I basically mention this because even if one were to assume the disposition was unfriendly or opposed (in short, someone asks to criticize rather than simply gain knowledge about a topic), the question itself appears to be valid and I like to inquire, too.

Organizations advertising elevated or special positions (to outsiders)? Nothing new. But in mass organizations or large ones you could generally expect that existing members get internal preference and internal offers rather than also opening external applications. Of course one could assume you also did that internally, but it still seems to be somewhat odd given the aforementioned reasons. If you opened both internal and external applications this puts your members at odds with external applicants.

In the end, any approach can have pros and cons depending on what you look for, so I'm not necessarily saying "this is bad". Just wondering because the two raised the initial question.

What could use some work was the public response, however

ForlornFoe reacted to Caprikel in Asteroid Gas-stations
Alright, now that I've got your attention, I'll explain in detail what exactly I mean by an asteroid Gas-station.

So basically, what I've imagined in my head is a scenario where there's the asteroid belt of a solar system, and this is basically the Wild-West of Dual Universe (At least one of the Wild-Wests).
In this scenario in my head, asteroids will be a rather lucrative business venture, where asteroids are full of rare elements to mine (Like real life) and they would also be full of ice (Like real life).

    In this thread: https://board.dualthegame.com/index.php?/topic/10725-food-dispensers/page-2
I mentioned the idea of getting water in space by mining the Ice, and CaptainTwerk mentioned that that Ice would be full of isotopes, and that they could be useful for fusion.

So imagine that you have a mining operation on an asteroid, and there's lots of Ice you have to mine through. There could be an element that basically filters the isotopes, like deuterium and tritium, which could be used for fusion fuel, and the rest of the ice can be used for same consumption. (Assuming people will eventually need water to survive in a future update.)

I think this would lead to some interesting business ventures, where your mining operation can basically have a gas-starion (fuel-station) out in a desolate asteroid wasteland. While they're at it they might as well have a pub/motel to go along with it, and then a neat lil asteroid Wild-West themed town is born!

I think this would be a creative way of making asteroids more practical for actually settling, and create a fun Wild-West atmosphere to deep space.

    What is the Nexus?
The Nexus is a group of neutral organisations for those who share an interest in a specific area of Dual Universe. Members are free to join and leave these neutral organisations at any time. Membership in any of these organizations will not interfere with membership in other organisations inside or outside the Nexus.

What do the Nexus organizations do?
They serve as meeting places for anyone and everyone interested in that organizations specialty e.g. exploration The are a place to obtain guides on how to get better at doing that organizations specialty. They have job boards which have actual work for the organisations specialty which goes beyond normal market trading. Think player generated quests. The organisations have no physical holdings or assets so they cannot be attacked nor go to war or have anything to do with politics. In short, they are neutral places to relax after doing jobs, a place to find those jobs and a place to find out how to get better at doing those jobs.

I think you are comparing expansions to updates.

Wow has had six expansions.  I bet it has had hundreds if not thousands of updates over the years.

But i still have absolutely no idea what that has to do with Dual Universe.

Instead of talking about other games, why not explain exactly what it is you would change about Dual's profit model.

Or just accept that they have already decided and move on.

What wretched soul decided to bring this sad excuse of a thread back to life?

My poor "New Content" list is absolutely congested.

I refer to this answer from Nyzaltar: https://board.dualthegame.com/index.php?/topic/1352-frog-frogswarm-french/page-2#entry45292

depends what people define as a troll/griefer (not that it matters because the only valid and useful definition comes from NQ!)

    People will be killed
    People's ships will be destroyed
    People's bases will be pillaged
People will get angry about that for sure...

Those are facts because of the sandbox nature. Is a guy who destroys an undefended base despicable? IMO not, he just uses the game mechanics to get an edge over others - that guy from the base could've done the same. If people don't want to deal with PVP and with player interaction then they can and should stay in the safespaces:

There will be shields to defend bigger markets/cities/stations
There will be the safezone around the arkship

PVP/Piracy/killing/destruction is vital for a game like this. It's not only a driver for economy but also ensures that RISK VS REWARD (as said by JC) is a thing. You can't live in your perfectly safe environment AND get ingame money as quickly as an explorer, who ventures deep into unknown territory to search for rare ore vines.

NQ already said that they deal with griefing on a case to case basis - which is good, because automated systems can be abused with ease

    ninjaedit:
The ONLY thing that matters is what the EULA will be like and what actions a player is allowed to do and what kind of actions are bannable/against the EULA. Every other opinion doesn't count

Welcome aboard, hopefully your interest keeps up for a couple of months more until we get to even test the game.

Seems like you made this topic in slightly wrong subforum, the Arkship Pub is the preferred meet & greet place. But that is an honest mistake and even easier to make when excited.

Ask away if there is a need, thought I bet most questions already have an answer if you have the patience to look for them. Dual Universe FAQ/Sources and DU wiki are excellent starting points.
