  1. yes, my answer was implying that i don't think it has to be regulated in any way.
  2. so you saw all the videos but were to lazy to read the dev journals? I'd suggest you to do so before writing something in such an agressive manner (not exactly the most intelligent way to make yourself known to a community)
  3. people being offended by some written words on a display in some corner of the world in an mmorpg? Sry, but people who are so whiny, that they can be offended by such things, are better off not using a computer at all^^
  4. There's a pretty simple example why your statement is kind of naiv/wrong. Everyone has different playstyles, there will be organisations focused on adventuring, trading, ship building etc. Now i imagine you would be in a basebuilding/shipbuilding organisation, lets assume your org built a splendid base with an efficient industrial part (assuming its possible), other organisations like traders or adventures might want to have a strong ship building economy too, without setting up their own base (because they don't feel like it or started late due to their focus on adventuring/trading etc.). The easiest solution? Conquer the base of a basebuilding/shipbuilding organisation. The diplomatic solution? They wont kill you and might let you keep some small ships if you give up the base without resistance. A peaceful solution? Why would you look for a peaceful solution if you have the might to get much more benefits if you chose the violent way? It's a game afterall.
  5. would be really weird if you couldnt change the sizes of the brushes^^ so no worries about that.
  6. I'm still for implants like in anarchy online.

why do nearly all f2p players suggest some premium content that would defintiely influence the gameplay (larger ships) before a game lunches but complain about it after it runs? Science fiction Sandbox games are not mainstream enough to be successful with f2p + itemshop, its as simple as that.
  8. Very unlikely, highly detailed crafting lines produe a lot of server stress. I think the more ordinary materials will be magically produced by the nanoformer and advanced ones with some simple crafting mechanisms.
  9. i'm all for turrets. As for limiting their effectiveness it'd be a logical approach to limit their accuracy by the energy supplied and damage potency, the more energy provided, the better the targeting computers can calculate the aim and the more powerful a weapon is the higher is the influence of recoil/ thermal deformation etc. on the targeting. That would allow big capital ships to have a lot of rather accurate turrets with low dmg, high energy consumption and a good aim for destroying annoying flys, but for high dmg turrets they still would have to chose between several very inaccurate ones for barrages or single medium to highly accurate ones. (Or they stick a hundred absolutely inaccurate low damage turrets to their hull and call themselves hedgehog )
  10. You should stop writing your thread titles with caps lock on
  11. it'd be logical for auto-turrets to have a higher energy consumption as well as a "lock on"-time which manually fired turrets wouldn't need. Maybe even a smaller range as the firing range for auto-turrets isn't defined by the weapon but by the sensors used to acquire a target. I don't see a logical reason for limiting the accuracy tho.
  12. sry, but the difference in the pictures you posted is one is ingame graphics and the others are fully rendered wallpapers, doesn't really make a good point. In reality, there are a lot of planets without life, and those planets (especially if they have no atmosphere) are vast, empty stretches of land, without any interesting details. So having bland planets is quite realistic, the older the blander
  13. I'm waiting for the alpha to start, before engaging in discussions again. Nearly everything that was discussed in the last months was basically the same things already talked about in the past. There's a limit to productive discussions without actual content.
  14. i'd rather be able to hide them if i want, more possible constructs. Additionally it's probably quite hard to avoid it, so it would be better if they focus their ressources on more important topics^^
  15. you could probably script a public transportation system, and maybe some vendors, but much more then that, i doubt it.
  16. just to add some weight to the posts with the same opinion as mine, DAC's should defintiely not be lootable. We will have quite some players who are in their teens or don't hav emuch money in general which try to get gametime by buying DAC's from other players and if DAC's are lootable we definitely will have players watching the market to see when some are sold to know when to rob ppl. That means those players who just scraped enough ingame currency together to buy a DAC will quite often lose that and in turn become unable to continue with DU. Its an item which is directly related to a players financial situation in real life and thus should be off limits.
  17. i think you're wrong there, ofc, very high quality crafts will be rare, but, from my experience of playing empyrion on servers, most people still try to create decent looking vessels and bases.
  18. hm, interesting, 30 days for 5-10k words is enough time even for working ppl
  19. there is no need to specially invite "artist" to the alpha, the alpha is for bug extermination Might be good for popularity in the late beta tho.
  20. sry, but the majority of people isn't (and will never be) educated enough to make a rule of the majority viable, thus defintiely not signing anything like that I for myself am a physicist, and i would never dare to say i should have a part in economic decisions, not even as one of million votes. That means article 21 is something no one should agree to
  21. you have to understand, that the videos are pre alpha gameplay, if you are active in the forum you will encounter something called "nanoformer", which will be our tool for crafting etc. but just isn't implemented yet. It was never planned to do it with an empty hand.
  22. to be honest,it was discontinued because the efficiency at that time was just far to low, nothing to do with it being confiscated etc. (Aside from all the crap with sending electricity through earth em field ) Even today wireless power transfer is a pretty wasteful thing. But there is a possibility for wireless powertransfer & ftl communication, creating small portals to an artificial dimension within the devices. This dimension could be a "small" dimension and used to funnel energy and data through it to every device connected to it, thus leading to nearly instant communication and energy support.
  23. I'd like to refere to a thread i created some time ago: https://board.dualthegame.com/index.php?/topic/286-crafting-ressource-refining/ which would basically include the request in this thread, maybe we can force the devs to do it ;D
  24. @Atmosph3rik that might be ok for big forums with thousands of active people, but in DU we have less than 40 people actively writing in the forum, if everyone writes in his native language then we will probably have 5 persons per language (we have english, french, german, russian and probably italian and others too), its just not possible to have good dicsussions by doing so, we'd be far to fractured. Thats why its important for small forums to have a common language. If DU grows bigger then there is absolutely no problem with using other languages than english, preferably in the proper subforums, because then we will still have hundreds of people per language which enables us to have good discussions. It'd be completely fine. Sadly that isn't the case yet, so its preferable to keep it to one language, and if someone wants to write something in a different language concerning the community or anything not DU-content related, then he should at least give the other people a hint in english.
