I really hope NQ will release this patch in the next few days, and even then it will be too late.
Those who claimed tiles with T4/T5 will now go and collect and refine these as I expect the cost for setting up for this will be very high once this patch goes live.

I have no doubt that working with anything other than T1 will get very expensive  very quickly now and the big orgs will en-mass start to mine and stockpile a lot of components and even elements to prevent the cost this will bring post patch. And it will only take a day or two for their massive mega factories to start churning out these parts.

Small orgs, solo and new players, as I expected, wil be left with one option which wil be to buy at market for whatever price the big orgs set when they bring these products to  market. I kind of expect NQ will also remove the bots from market now outside of maybe to buy T1 ore.

Big orgs having an advantage of a level playing field because there have the numbers is one thing. Them taking advantage of these changes by exploiting their earlier actions like using the oversight by NQ on how their initial implementation would have massive loopholes is another and can't be what NQ wants.

NQ said that they do not plan to wipe unless unavoidable. I'd say these changes, while by themselves not actually unreasonable or bad, combined with the mistakes made very early on, constitute unavoidable as by not doing so they will basically hand the game to the big orgs which can't be the intent NQ has..

    Flying Faster with less
    or
...Dual Universe and the cross section calculation

I quite enjoy building small efficient atmo flyers (you probably know the Hagboard)
The key to the fun factor of these little ships is keeping the Frontal Cross section as low as possible. For the Hagboard it is usually 0.38 which is the smallest value that is possible if you still want to have the comfort of a hover engine on your construct.
But since some months, DU is not making it easy for these little ships. There is a bad bug with the cross section calculation which usually leads to a wrong (higher) calculation of the frontal cross section.
You can easily see the problem by entering build mode and having a look at your max speed & frontal cross section. In most cases you first see lower speeds and a higher cross section, and after some additional seconds this value changes to the "real" values.
So the frontal cross section is supposed to be the total surface of the ship when looking from the front. This should be a static value, but due to the bug, we get 2 separate values.
Even worse: when starting a flight DU usually takes the "worse" value to calculate the flight physics.
I assume that the first "bad" calculation is done on the client side, and the second "real" values somehow come either from the server or using some values being loaded fro the server.
As sometimes the server is slow, we get into a situation where the "better" values might even never get loaded to the client.
As well during flight, DU re-calculates this values. So even if we manage to start a flight with the "better" values, we might get faster speed & Acceleration at first, but after some control movements DU usually falls back to the slow values.
There is 1 trick how you can do a test flight and "force" DU into the faster values.. give this a try:
    1. place your construct flight ready, pointing towards a wide open area ( e.g. a big water surface)
    2. enter build mode and look at your max speed / frontal cross section
    3. wait for the max Speed & Cross section to be displayed with the "better" values
    4. exit build mode and directly activate the seat/remote controller
    5. give full throttle, avoid steering and try to stay between 100 and 300 m...
By following these steps you should be able to do a flight with the "full potential" of your construct.
Another possibility to increase the speed of your construct is to remove ALL Honeycomb from it. The cross section calculation only fails if there is at least 1 honeycomb voxel on your construct. so without them, it should always use the "better" values.
i have 2 tickets around this topic open now for 1-2 months, but obviously NQ has more important things  to fix right now. But as i get asked multiple times a day, i thought it would be easier to give the explanation here so i could point people to it ?

    Have fun flying,

    Hagbard

Lets be honest.  For every 1 good idea the community might spit out, there is like 40 terrible ones.  Or whatever ratio you end up coming up with. The point is, most ideas from the community are terrible.  And even good ideas, might be hard to implement.  There are tons of more factors and variables then someone from NQ logging into their forums, reading a post and going "Thats a great idea, we will start working on it tomorrow!".  Especially for a small company with limited resources working on a very ambitious project.

Yet, big orgs (who indeed bounce back) not only meaningful entities in game. And not only voices against.

Actualy, its reasonable to say, "middle class" people (ironicly as in typical IRL problems) will suffer worst -- all active solo/small group players, both old and new, who tried to relativly keep up with big guys by hard work and preparing some reserves for future. They will be completly gutted, but they obviously have much less "staying power" and "raw muscle" then big orgs to go back in action and many will be feeling extreamly exausted and even cheated of their hard earned assets.

Per example, by local millions and kilotons of ore standards I relativly "poor" and usualy deeply frown upon hysterical "i will quit" things as argument... But to be super honest, if they wipe like before "release", deleting all ore I mined (and other work done), I will very seriously consider if I want to play DU again and re-invest all this time. Just no more stamina. On personal level.

NQ obviously made chain of insanly bad and unresponsable choices (with JC sometimes barely understanding how his game really played, living in world of fantasies in a way), that poisoned game and now we all paying price (generaly in both cases of non wipe scenario and wipe scenario). Its just difference between slow "necrosis" damage and shock bloody fountains damage.

I really don't know how they can repair it. All options are just tormenting lesser evil things (that a quite not lesser).

While these are opposing statements I just couldn't agree more with BOTH of them

At first it took me what felt like forever waiting for the vertex editor and I didn't touch much of voxelmancy, even tho I knew the mechanics and could manipulate stuff to get the expected results. My nick ain't a coincidence after all, but it took me a very long time to experience moments in which I actually had fun manipulating voxels and see the pro-voxelmancy side of things. Still these remained rare occasions and I always reverted to rather simple shapes on large scale because doing what I wanted was just too tedious and felt like doing the pontius-pilatus-run (English "pillar to post"?) for every single line, row and column in the 512x512x512 grid. Choice was like either do a flat roof and be done in 1 minute or make a nice curve, add details and invest days just for the looks of it while also knowing it would result in a worse frontal cross-section.

While usually being just a happy builder on the "style over quality" side, the lack of advanced tools like vertex editor pushed me to the opposite side of this spectrum in DU, which in fact has been my greatest disappointment so far and the reason I just can't resist joining this off-topic discussion right now

Seeing this being on 1st place right after the pinned votes was the best news ever to me:

If you didn't already: vote for it rite meow. Wheee! \o/

Feeling guilty now. On topic: well, to my knowledge NQ has been rather courteous (what's a good word for "kulant" in English?) regarding refunds. So good luck on your support ticket and sorry it didn't work out for you. Anyways, on the level of moral intuition I feel like the right thing to do with a pledge that didn't turn out as expected is just seeing it like one took a chance and lost some money gambling. When I pledged back in the days I already knew this could turn out as something like EVE and possibly drive me away, or it might even fail completely as many other Kickstarter campaigns failed in the past. So I took the highest stake I ever did in my gaming history (several hundreds of €), because I've never seen any concept/chance that came even close to this project - but I accepted the risk of losing all that money even before I spent it. Thing is I knew my finances back then and knew that if it turned out well, I'd have spent that money and could live without it - when it doesn't work out tho and I don't get the money back, it's still the same on my financial side and I couldn't claim that I'm in trouble without that amount, because that would be the case even if it worked out too. Just mentioning this because I've seen others who made it seem as if it was a lot of money that impacts their life significantly and... well... I failed to relate on why spend it in the first place if pockets are too tight. Might not apply here tho, so sorry in that case - didn't mean to offend or suggest anything, just sharing experience/thoughts.

    Dear HQ-Team,

today i found out there was a interview that happend on twitch:  Source (start 1h 33min)

Good thing i have a few ingame friends who have ears open to find out about such things.
Because i can forget to look up the twitter or even the forum which should be one of the major connection points between player-base and the Game-Team.

But there is no information in the forum what was talked about in the interview (Summary or minutes of meeting)  or that is even happend!
A summary would be very importent as we would have actuall facts about what is going on where is the journey taking us it would also help a lot of people who dont have the time to watch it or are unable to do so( slow internet, being in puplic, language difficulty or having hearing problems).

    kind regards,

Exact quote from J.C. Ballie "For Alioth which is 65km in radius, you can gather a team of 1000 players, working 8 hours a day nonstop weekend included, and it would take you 19 years to get 1% of the planet" Source: Nation Fusion Youtube - J.C. Ballie Interview timestap: 33:44

Also he mentions it would take 5 hours to dig to the core of the planet. Its also been calculated by players, and confirmed by Novaquark it would take a little over 10 hours real time, to run around the entire planet. An Alioth had over 50,000 territories that could be claimed.

Oh, an all of that was before Novaquark announced they made the planet Allioth 4 times bigger. Source: Alioth size change.

So if you consider that tiny, then more power to you buddy lol. I'm sure they will put you're name in the Alioth book of world records when you complete that tiny 40 hour run around Alioth.

50k players? 50,000 players? Nice assumption. I doubt we have 10k. But lets assume so. So its already 600kl*5 => 3000kL. Probably more. So excluding every super or mega node - and every tile which has more resources - if players would mine only alioth for bauxite, every one of them could mine 3kkL before it was exhausted. Thats base number - one to which we would start adding other numbers so everything from tiles above 300kL - of what on average we would be able to get. And we are still talking about 10,000 players mining on Alioth exclusively. Ignoring every other planet out there.

Your entire world resources analogy is just false - because you assumed lower end found on tile. You want to know entire world resource you need to use average, not lower end - not even sure if its median of resources in tiles.

    tldr:
Your problem is only the assumption that NQ will do nothing if critical ores somehow run out. Which imho would be so completely stupid on their part it simply won't happen.
Worst case scenario - we will have week or two of harder to find tier 3/4 ore (well, rare will be actually rare while we mine remaining ore out) than week or two without one of the ores before they discuss out what to do and implement solution.

    Longer verions:
On Alioth, if it wasn't mined earlier it will give you around 500k of each tier 1 ore without any meganode/supernode present - so you have minimal amount.  I don't remember out of my head how much tiles there are in alioth, but lets sum it up to a lot. Most of tiles i've scanned also had between 10k to 30k tier 2 ore. Again without meganodes. Feel free to calculate how long it would take to mine that out. Just don't use meganodes mining time because you will get bullshit results. Mining meganodes is probably order of magnitude faster to get same amount of resources.

They already have surface rock regenerating and they said they won't add ore veins regeneration - but, common, they are not morons. Tier 3 if it will run out before asteroids mining or other way of mining are implemented - in WHOLE accessible universe - NQ will most likely just add it, probably deeper, below our current mining level. There is no way in hell that NQ will effectively kill half or two thirds of the tech tree because one ore run out. There is so much unused space below 1-2km below surface that they won't even have problem where to add it. Actually that apply to tier 2 too. They can do it even if we have asteroids mining and so on. (I just hope they will stop at tier 2 in the safe zone if/when they do it).

On side node - farming meganodes was already acknowledge by JC to be too easy. So yeah, probably they will change some stuff around that too.
