Zireaa reacted to joaocordeiro in DU suffers from an identity chrisis since JC got sacked. What kind of game are they even making now? Anyone?
And what was the great, well defined identity this game had before JC went out?

I dont think that DU's issue is missing an identity.
I think DU's issue is not providing sustainable joy for most players.

A fix of most issues, would be adding NPCs, avatars and ships.

Maybe that would confuse the identity of the game even more. But it would make it sustainable from the emotional point of view.

Yeah whats the harm in having MUs on ships since the ore is infinite and its not digging holes if you are collecting ore while you scan at random or parking a ship somewhere to auto mine if nobody owns it since ore is intinite and hurts nothing as long as it is physically on the ground.

This is dumb I can only put a mining unit on static construct so what the pint of even leaving my base  besides finding a better claims what is a scanner for now besides scanning a new claims  what encourages me two go out and explore  I just don’t get this  and I am limited two how much I can mine per hour or day good job NC kill mining and exploring  I just don’t get this direction you sucked the fun right out of it  it feels like a farming sim
not what I backed this game for
im So disappointed  I tried two be open two this but all I’m thinking now is what the hell are you thinking

In the video someone said smth Like "If you properly mine a territory you will make more than taxes"

What does this entail? Using all your charges or whatever every day ? Using those charges only once per day/week?

Because as i see it, this argument doesnt make any sense. You force players to do smth they don't want to do in order to keep their territory. Making it a job to login every day. Gg NQ

Also "move to sanc!" Is a pretty bad and useless suggestion either as someone said in that video. Moving 25 quadrillion elements, bases and whatever there......sure. hard slap in the face.

So glad i havent played at all, would be pretty upset if i had

We discussed it for a week or two as we weighed out the pros/cons of playing. And lol I have been talking about it non stop where have you been?

Been talking about all their idiotic changes and how they undevelop or redevelop things they already developed or removing things they develop since I got here. They seem to be destroying this game piece by piece to eventually push everyone out the door to huck this as a game (platform) and ride all the subs and the game into the ground to develop their platform so that when the game fails in a year when they march to launch and it bombs people cant sue them into oblivion like Chronicles of Elyria for not delivering a finished product and they come out smelling like roses to then pitch their platform to studios and investors.

I hope everyone is enjoying their tech demo while it lasts.

As a nwe player, located on the sanct moon -> this update kills my entire progress. The yields from mining units are simply a joke and a punch in every players face. I suggest to patch out the entire calibration prozess and give allways max. yield until area max is reached. Also 5x or better 10x times yield rates on tiles. Or, just bring back the old mining feature.

The game feels so limited right now. I play this for building stuff  - but i can´t build anymore. I guess if you don´t patch it to a version that brings fun - i will not stay that long in this game. Right now it is like log on 30 days for 5 minutes every day to calibrate and 1 day gaming with the material mined in that 30 days -.-

This 100%. The current L/H is beyond a joke and a kick in the face. How are we supposed to do anything in this game now. I have 0 drive to continue playing with the direction this is going. I love the mining units, but the rates need to be raised tremendously.

Then this is fixed in short. with these fun taxes and people losing their stuff most people who were once told they would never loose their stuff after its build unless warfare happened will probably leave, or just camp at the sanctuary for ever. in both cases, gameplay dies.  Fun to see that those who exploided for billions will again get the better in this next downgrade

The trajectory so far again emphasizes NQ's general culture of hubris and an overwhelming lack of humility.

Here (yet again) we have a lot of players telling them why this isn't going to work well...that the idea is right, but the implementation is very wrong.

IMO, this will go live pretty close to "as-is" because NQ doesn't believe players have any useful feedback. The last PTS update underscores that idea -- very few substantial tweaks around the balance of new features.

We've seen this path before with 0.23.

Back then, they released a statement defending their changes and talking about how players just don't understand how to play their game. How their opinions were simply wrong.

NQ struggles with tech. They struggle with customer service. They certainly struggle with design...but they also struggle with humility and being open-minded enough to see the flaws in their bizarre "play it by ear" design style.

They promised that they would improve around communication, but they didn't put any real effort into it. They just don't believe feedback is important.

A lot of pride for a game that's spent over 7 years in the alpha stage...and still struggles with really fundamental issues that make the game look like it is still early in development.

The new CEO needs to make some real changes. Frankly, they need to fire some people with too much hubris and not enough talent and shift more resources to design and development -- whatever development path they are on, it hasn't been working for a long time.

it looks like i will probably have to move my buildings which are currently on different territories all to one territory.  Will DU provide better mechanics to be able to move and place static large core structures?  Currently it is a nightmare to position both in rotation and depth.  Also can be difficult to be linked to enough storage compacity to hold all the materials needed to be able to place the large blueprint.

I have spent alot of time building my structures, i would hate to loose them because i can no longer afford the taxes.  I would prefer to just move them all to sanctuary and build there than to risk the loss.

I am hearing scuttle about a "Space Tax" if this is true then the question begs WHAT are all these taxes for why its a simple question that most have asked here. Is it to attempt to punish those that are wealthy, I can assure you that will not work it never does? Is it to in your NQ eyes help the economy, again I can assure you it will not. We need answers to our questions, we in fact demand these answers as the future of this game and your very jobs may very well depend on it.

    My opinion about the update:
I like the idea, but not exactly how it's done.

The main issue I have with this: The Taxes are far too high for people who are more interested in planetary building. The average Tile on Alioth gives you about ~500l/h, so ~84kl/week and most of this is T1
Even with talents it may be 150kl/week (not exactly, but just for demonstration). This is an amount you can currently get in 1h mining. And you have to sell at least ~1/2 to pay the taxes. The amount you'll receive in the end is way less than what you can get now if you are ready to invest some time.

If you are someone who likes to fly to other planets and build a base there this may be okay. I've heard about tiles with 300l/h T3 ore and more, so the taxes would not be an issue. But players who like the planetary building on alioth and not space travelling, will be extremely slowed down and I think this will cause more frustration in the playerbase.

So as my First Sergeant in the Army use to say I can't even make this stuff up, I started a miner the day the PTS went live and just checked the container it has 1800L in it. You have got to be kidding right there is no way this is going to support anyone in this game currently. Look I know and I have seen the other players trying to sell this with there analysis and showing off how they could make millions of quanta a week but looking at this set up there is no way and no way you are going to convince me other wise the proof is in the pudding on this one.

    You are being myopic.

This will result in a significant reduction in ore yield due to the hard cap. Reduced ore means less building and more expensive parts. It is not good for the economy and will also make it more difficult for new players.

Question about space stations, where does the grid end for space taxation? If space grid is infinite I need to move my station cause its apparently within someone else's grid. Its 69.2km above Alioth surface and previously the grid would stop showing around 60km so I thought space after that was not under territory control. if I have to move my 8-Lcore space station to one of my territories I'll need some warning beforehand, dont want to lose it xD

Is Biden running the show? 1 M a week for tax's that is way to high do away with tax's and keep it how it is I would rather pay a high price upfront to not be taxed. That and people have real lives sometimes people might not be able to get logged into the game and then when they come back they will owe millions in tax's

Not good tax's suck in RL no need to have them in a game. I have played other games that required tax's to be paid to keep land and it killed not only me but entire clans from playing it.  Looking at that I have I am not sure I would even be able to afford keeping what I have had for over a year now. I don't really see myself playing a game where all my time is used up to make sure my "tax's" are paid. I been all in 100% with DU but this change may make me rethink playing.

Tax's can be a HUGE game braker. The only way you will be able to survive is if your in a large Org with a large cash flow the solo player and smaller orgs will die and people will stop playing.
