Why is the world so obsessed with hype and why can't NQ see this...

The reason why the game is so good is that the people behind it learnt from their mistakes. they admitted to their failures and changed direction. This is something other companies could learn from but... unfortunately there are too few examples of that.

I still hope that NQ can pull a(n) HG and revitalize  the game..

@Aaaron I think the rule is 100m up, 5000m down.

and build is limited to 1000m so several of our megastructure blueprints are no longer buildable.

basically NQ lied to us when they said they would respect our efforts.

still, I’m used to their lies by now.

And to OP, to bring the fun back is rather easy, it is just like you say, DU is a build game, Build up civilization.

And all else comes from that so anything added should be in that line.
NQ is only limiting features and adding placeholders while scrapping old features, like the commun ity page that was very actively followed by many.

If you want to bring fun back you only need one thing, a mentality adjustment within NQ.  In stead of making stuff and server tech better the solution within NQ is to limit and scrap features.
When they take the buildup direction instead of the limit direction, we are there.

I dont think new people even know of the massive cave systems there are/were in the planets. Not sure if they still exist to be honest.
    Good points!
Well going to explore the existance of the cave systems this week, ill drill to the core again, will be fun!

So in short, If DU gets the market share NQ hopes, we get a wipe.
If we build long enough: we get a wipe.
If the server tech is getting more crappy: we get a wipe.
If the company providing the servers has a bad day or a raise in pricing: we get a wipe.

Feels more like SE evere week, but then again, SE has less limitations, and no monthly subs. i build a 3 km large dynamic city there fully armed and fully industrialized. Did the server owner like it? God no, but i was able to atleast build it .

Is du ever wants to compete and get more peops in we should see a stop to limitations and bigger builds, just for the mere reason the server tech gets upgraded. And That should be the first Priority

This is just my opinion you do not need two agreeI feal like the game has not changed for the better it feels like the new start is nothing but login Micromanage stuff and log out  come back in a day or so and repeat I know not everyone likes the old mining, but it was so much more fun than what we have now at least make it more accessible for new players to go out an astroid mine and increase the amount of astroids. There’s no need to explore other planets I need to just roll everything back in my opinion. I know there’s a argument that there was too much material on the market at the core of this game is a building game why restrict us from building it also allows for people to want to go out in the world and do PVP why would I want to go out and lose a ship that takes me months to get? I remember back in alpha the feeling I got seeing all the things I could do an explorer underground. I thought it was amazing now I just click on my mining unit calibrated log out and come in tomorrow pick up my material craft a few things logout not fun I still haven’t been able to build my holler or get to space to mine astroids. I don’t have millions to pay for a scanner.  Of course, this is just my opinion I know not everyone agrees, but that’s OK. I still like the universe even for what it’s become. I just don’t know how you are going two hook a new player two love a game that everything Is a chore And micromanage until you get some thing Do you want people to feel like this is amazing. What’s coming next? You need two get them from the beginning before they loose interest and just find a different game and DU population starts two drop after the hippie is over  tell me youer opinion of how two fix this game or being the fun factor back for everyone

Firstly , recycling is a good addition but please don't make us require schematics to do it given we already had them to create it .

But I think perhaps you should think about changing the games name from Dual Universe to Do Admin.

WHERE IS THE FUN IN ADMIN!!!!

Some others posted that taunts/pets are not a priority. I agree but if the pets add bonus skills then that will be acceptable.

Someone in DU seems to think that time gating and maintenance gets subscription duration. I just think it loses players and eventually you will close.

    WE WANT THE GAME BACK!!
Focus on things that are more game play than admin/maintenance and the obvious time gating to get subscriptions.
You need to make some changes that address how much time is required to admin territories and schematics as this is not fun.
    a) if we have to have schematics why can't schematics all come from one schematic bank. Remove the need to go to each machine.
    b) why can't territory payments just come from a person or orgs wallet.

Some other things you could have done instead of pets and taunts.
    rotating engines?
balance products cost they are the main issue, t1 product should be free like all basics
Scanning %harvest ore left on territory by type.
Territory Scanner time reduction skill please
T2/T3 availability on alioth is to low
Player avatars , can we have one where the player does not show the arm raised or an option to turn it off.
the UI could really do with some work. it really doesn't flow well. EG: escape should close a window when its open for everything.

The community was quite capable of creating the content/gameplay , what you did is reduce the capability of this unique gameplay to everyone  by introducing some game mechanics that require to much admin time and not focusing on playtime mechanics PVE/PVP.

Zireaa reacted to Rimezx in This needs to be adressed immediately @NQ
So the problem is about the abandonment and decay system after subscription ends. As the system stands now when a player's subscription ends a 90 day timer starts and after this timer ends this player loses ownership over any construct they own, making that construct available for claiming by others and if not claimed it just dissapears from the game after one more month. This applies for every place and tile in the universe including haven.

I don't know which monkey thought that this is a good idea. I understand that leaving constructs on alioth forever can cause stability issues and lag and they need to be recycled somehow, also the planet will be filled with inactive tiles from inactive players that could be reused by new players. All that is understandable BUT a player should be able to keep their stuff if they want to take a break from the game.

As this system stands now whats gonna happen is players will eventually stop playing for a while, because thats what people do they don't play games forever, they quit they come back, they have lives and work. They are going to figure out they lost of their constructs and effort and what are they gonna do then? You guessed it right, leave the game and never look back. Dual universe is a big time investment. It is not a game like rust where you play for a week build stuff and then hop on a new server. This effort cannot just be deleted like this because of optimization issues. If i know that all of my effort is going to be deleted eventually then i should just quit outright, is the though proccess most people are gonna have when they figure this out. Have you seen another online game of the mmo genre do this? This seems like an intentional extortion of a sort .. "buy game time or you lose your constructs". I know that this is most likely not intented (really hope not).

Since i don't like talking out of my a@@ and i like providing suggestions rather that randomly criticizing someone, i am going to propose all of the solutions i can think of for this issue with prio from top to bottom in which i think would be the best.
    Possible solutions:

    1. Make game simply not load costructs of accounts with inactive game time. The tile will be taken but people will not load or see anything on it until the player buys game time again.
    2. Create an istance somewhere in the persistent universe where a player can go and store everything they own when they quit. Only visible to said player and anyone they have given rights to and not loadable by the rest, so its just data and doesnt impact the game stability.
    3. Reduce number of HQ tiles to one per player but make this one tile be untoutched forever. Or give a main HQ or something for this reason.
    4. Create a new dump planet/moon where players dump their stuff when they quit.
    5. This one is the worst idea but is acceptable. Increase inactive time from 3 months to 2 years and not less. And no 6 months is not enough. People quit for 6 months and come back.

My conclusion is that this change cannot wait. People are going to quit over this and never come back. if u wait for 3 months before implementing this and ppl lose their constructs they are gone. After one year at most the game will be dead. I was one of the first people to warn you about patch 0.23 back in the beta and guess what exactly what i said happened. This time around there won't be a "release" to save your asses if you botch this again. Consider yourselves warned.

Zireaa reacted to DealerSix in Get rid of schematics already.
Schematics are just stupid. Remove them already and fire the person that came up with that idea, thanks.

    1. Way too expensive to be considered a "useful" game loop
    2. Only being craftable in inventory is beyond frustrating for your smaller/casual audience.

It will kill your game in the long run. How is money distributed to players? By selling ores to bots? *Insert big brain .jpg here*
So the entire goal of this game is to grind T1 ore to sell it to bots, to be able to afford schematics for their production. Buying stuff/parts from other players in the markets isnt worth it since they will put the schematic price on top.

I quit during alpha/beta when schematics were introduced and came back to review this on release. This system is still beyond garbage, considering I have to manually look up all the schematics needed for a product. Should at least give people the option to "Que up all required schematics for this element" button.

    Cheers

Zireaa reacted to ColonkinYT in Mining today. It used to be better?
Yesterday, once again I was convinced that one decision of the developers killed a whole layer of game content.
I'm talking about mining. And specifically about the fact that mining was removed from the planet, while they did not give adequate replacement in space. When more than 40 people arrive at a lone asteroid, it does not become fun.
Perhaps someone wanted the players to have no problems with lags and performance when mining? But I have never seen more than 3-4 people in the old mining system. And there was no such competition. I was sincerely sorry for those people who flew after half an hour to asteroid. It probably hurts ...
And now why I think that it was a mistake to remove mining from the planets.
    1. Mining with mining toit is just a mockery even compared to the collection of stones. Not to mention the asteroids. And the need for planets will soon understand most people. If resources are in space, you do not need planets. Yes, there are interesting resources of level 3-5, but they are disappeared and can be taken out of the planet Ship S Class.
    2. From paragraph 1 it follows that it makes no sense to build atmospheric Haullers for the export of a large number of ore from the planets. You just won't collect so much. No. I understand that the total production of many players is very significant. But they do not throw everything into one container)).
    3. Because of the above, there is no point in the control of planets and tiles. And accordingly, what wars are we talking about in the future, if there is nothing to fight for. On Bete, large associations of players tried to make blockade of planets. Before the input of units, this made sense. Not anymore. I think that there will be a blockade of points of the most likely asteroids. With space stations and Warp beacons, this will do this and easier and more effective.
    4. Atmospheric ships with anti -gravity generators of a large tonnage are simply not needed. They just have nothing to raise from the planets.
    5. Dual Universe has become even more unfriendly to new players. Yes, training has become better. But if earlier a beginner could dig ores and sell it, now in all starting areas it is empty as after locusts. Stones do not appear again.
I think that many can add more points.
The only plus is for developers. No need to store data in the database.
In my opinion, this is the case when one little brick that was diverted from the base brought down whole layers of possible gameplay.
Of course, the game designers know better what to do (probably). Perhaps I am too pessimistic. But yesterday I once again realized that returning to Alioth does not make sense ...

Publishing the game on Steam as a released game instead of beta or early access is one of the worst decisions I could imagine NQ doing. Even worse for using materials (trailers, screenshots) from alpha and early beta, of things that probably never will exist again.  Not to mention that Steam alone is already going to eat through the $5 increase in subscription because they get to keep 30% of all sales anyways (which, if everyone ends up going to Steam, will mean NQ raising prices again to keep up).

I really want DU to succeed and even bought 6 months for my alt as a way of trusting them, but in absolutely no way I agree with their current decision making and really hope the Steam reviews don't hit as bad as I predict them hitting...

I appreciate the idea to release the game through Steam, but I have an intense feeling it's going to get crucified in the reviews.

Steam will open the game up to a wider audience as it deserves and needs the playerbase, but releasing as a full release with a sub when it's still missing its core pillars and features will not go down well. If it was through an early access system players may be more forgiving but as it stands I feel it will not go well.

    I hope I'm proved wrong.

I expected a major announcement to be new systems coming for launch like territory warfare which was due last year or energy systems.

Do you folks realise adding either of those two features later on is not ideal especially energy ?.

but I just don’t see how a company that makes so many odd judgement calls (like just the forums being overrun with pins, for example) that seem to defy common sense will be able to pull off what 19 out of 20 other start ups fail to achieve: a profitable company within five years.

I hope I’m wrong and that DU gets 10,000 subs off the bat. Enough to cover even 7% of the 150k tiles or whatever there is on sanctuary. But since most players will no longer be ALTing given the new prices, I have my doubts.

Even more ridiculous of all this story is that the game was not too bad, then we started to assist to the desperate attempt from the devs to reduce the cost of the server and doing so they destroyed the game with new boring mechanics and trying to slow down the progresses. Reducing also the ability for players to use industries and transforming the mining in the horrible actual state. They advertised a game full of player's constructions, practically entire cities.. and now.. look at that. It will never be again like that.
After assisting powerless to this frenetic attempt of cost saving now we are assisting to an increase of prices that it is simply ridiculous.
BYE NQ the result of the last 2 years behaviour and not caring about the community is what you are going to get now. Probably there only JC was the one caring about the future of this game infact it is not anymore there probably because of the direction that DU was going to have. This is what I think.

I'm also thinking that this money speculation makes you not deserving of all the hard work that people like me and others made in this game to increase its value. I will consider to don't give you the rights to use my scripts in your game anymore since the scripts are protected and for no reason should be used from other to earn money.
