I agree. This is one of the benefits to being on Sanct. It was promised that it would be a backers only area, to change that now and open it up to everyone would be another great big middle finger to the backers.

Playing this sionce alpha this is kinda the general NQ improvement strategy.
What you forget is that the term Improvement is not clarified. NQ never uses improvement if a feature or game thingy is actually changed to make player experience better,

Improvement is only used when talking about cost effectiveness, server load, game stability, scrapping features etc.

In DU improvements Never produce a better gaming experience, 0.23 was their Best industry improvement.
Adding Talents was an improvement untill people noticed that the max talent was close to the previous "normal"and thus everything got downscaled and talents were needed to get back to previous levels.

Improved mining gave us mining units but before we had those i hauled in kilotons of ore per day on sanctuary alone, now abit less but thats an improvement? to whom.

In general we get limitations and improvements and all those do is scrap features or minimize them.

Memoti got a reaction from GraXXoR in Revamp of tile ores necessary?
The gating of the community at T2 is insanely stupid. You're limiting virtually  everything players can do beyond the very basic. Unless, of course, you want to go crawling to the large orgs that have already staked out the very few T2 tiles available and purchase the ores from them at whatever price they feel like charging. The asteroids are fine, but as been mentioned several times before, the odds of acquiring one if you're a lone player  or a small org is akin to hitting the lottery. Over 100 scans on Madis' Moon, and not a single hit on a T2 resource. Almost 60 scans on Madis and there's been 1 hit (5L ph) on a T3 resource, and nothing on T2's. This is untenable. NQ has already gated players behind the time sink of talents and the money sink of schematics, none of which, by the way, in of of themselves are a bad thing. Annoying and frustrating at times maybe, but not game breaking. But to promise players can build and create anything they want, but to forget to put in the disclaimer *as long as you can afford to buy the material from the large orgs, buy and maintain the tiles, and continue to buy elements broken in pvp, or crashes, or etc....All while trying to farm enough T1's to sell the to the bots on the market in this 'player driven economy'** is a bit misleading. Again, as mentioned in other threads by other players, for NQ to constantly tell the community they will do something, or players will be able to do something, keep something, or create something, only to come back later and say...'gee,  sorry...we know we said "-----" but instead we're going to do "xxxx" is frustrating the first couple of times. But it's happened so much it's  more of a mantra now. It's no wonder there are a great many in the community that feels like NQ is just saying FU to the community. And to top everything off, now, unless you have  no further ambition than building a basic small ship or building with sodium or other T1 honeycomb, your life will suck because you won't be able to get T2 materials.

Memoti reacted to GraXXoR in extremely flawed unthought out mining system that is bad now and extremely bad for the long run.
Pretty much all the T2 has already been claimed.

many newbies will only get dregs and the asteroid system is obviously not working. You know you have a problem when there are less asteroids than major orgs.

It is clear that NQ have created a game that will create a first tier of unmovable, impenetrable incumbents and leave nothing for the second tier.  Kinda like their ore.

now if they brought in a planet where the ores shifted gradually over time that would be far more viable long term than the current system but totally unrealistic…

As it is, all the planets are basically pwned less than a month after the game went life.

knowing that they can never find anything other than T1 again means many miner type players have left.

Imagine creating an MMO where nearly all the key central assets are permanently locked down within 30 days without a chance to ever challenge them.

thades is dotted with hexes that have a single TU and a single mining node.

zero development, zero building, zero “sivileyezashun”.

“but more planets” I hear some say…  sure another couple of week’s “gameplay” and those planets too will be devoid of anything but T1.

to end my rant, or as the younguns like to say, TLDR:

The game is a paradox. It feels simultaneously deserted yet at the same time, the logistics of this game is only suited to  support triple digit player numbers maximum and is flawed at such a fundamental level that NQ will need to pull something spectacular out of their collective… hats … in order for this game to last past the year in any meaningful way.

I should start off by saying, this is specifically for the devs & NQ. I'm not trolling anyone on the thread, nor demeaning anyone else.

I have tried defending most of the updates, even ones I didn't personally like, because the game is in beta, and there is still soooo much to do before it's released. But the schematic thing is complete bullshit. "That's not how the game is suppose to be played" is a cop-out answer. At least have the common decency to tell the truth and say "we don't care what ppl want, we already got your money, we want this so this is what we're doing...deal with it or f*ck off. We don't care either way."

The biggest draw to this game was I could build anything I wanted. I could do anything I wanted. As long as I could imagine it, and I put in the work to get it, I could accomplish it. With or without a group to play with. There were obvious, and large, advantages to playing with a group, but it wasn't necessary to enjoy the game, or to accomplish things. But this latest change, this is the last kick in the juju bees I'm willing to take without voicing my displeasure. And there is no defense for this. There was nothing in the fund raising that said anything about this game being another version of Eve. If I wanted to play Eve, I'd renew my sub and go play. This had sooo much more potential. Me and my group of friends played for 2 yrs, and we still hadn't got a lot of things that we wanted, and hadn't done a lot of things we wanted to do simply because of the time involved in going out to get the materials, refining, skills, etc.....,we do after all have some semblance of a life. But we were still having fun. We were a small group, less than 1/2 a dozen, that played well together, were able to coordinate and accomplish a lot. We could keep relative pace even with the larger orgs. But with this, there's absolutely no point in even logging on. We can't do anything. Go mine, sell it to bots to purchase schems so we can go mine so we can refine so we can sell, so we can mine, so we can refine, then build. Gee...that sounds like FUN! The point is to get together, work for a common goal, ie build a specific ship, building, etc..., and enjoy doing it because we could see progress and the results of our time and effort. Now it's just a grind fest.

I understand wanting people to work together. i get it...MMorpg does start with multi-player. However, there are much better ways to encourage it than this abomination. The players seemed to be pretty involved and working together well before this non-sense. The dev's want to slow things down? News flash, it taking months upon months of mining, crafting, planning, and working to complete ONE build is plenty 'long' enough. I even encourage the intricate crafting system. I love that part. The better you are, the more resilient, the more of a product, the less materials consumed or the better a product should turn out. So I don't even have issues with that. But again, making me buy a schem to be able to make it is inane.

You don't like the pace at which large orgs were progressing, then do something that would limit them. Not the community as a whole. People will always figure out a way around your idiotic, artificial time sinks. They have hundreds of players to harvest $ from so they can purchase w/e you have set up to try and 'slow' down progress. You still haven't slowed down anything, all you've done is make it impossible for smaller orgs, or small groups of players playing together to be able to do anything except mine. So effectively you've turned all of us into mining slaves for the large orgs. Nice job.

If you had put this crap in your fund-raising efforts, instead of the promise to be able to build anything we can imagine, I would never have put out the money to support the game. But since I did, I get to bitch about it on the forums. For all the good it will do.

When I first got into this game, it was under the promise that it was a open world, sandbox type game. A player could come in, and if they wanted they could join up with a large organization and enjoy the benefits of it, or they could either join up with a small group of friends, or go it alone. And although joining with a large org would definitely have it's benefits, playing the game with a small group or without any obligation to a large org would be possible. It would take longer to achieve certain things, you wouldn't be able to have many bases on many different planets, etc...but you would be able to play & enjoy the game if that's what you chose. We were also promised that, although there would be  wipes, they would be minimal at best, and they would never reset our talent points or wipe the money we had made.

By the time the first of these promises were broken, my small group of friends had managed to build up a respectable business. We had a factory for our personal use, we were able to build most of what we needed, as long as we could feed it. But we had also managed to work out some beneficial trade deals with several orgs in the game. It worked out well. We met some really great people, had fun organizing mining runs to different places, fulfilling orders for different materials, and had managed to bank a tidy sum that was helping us grow our org. We rarely if ever used the market, but that was because we were able to conduct our business bartering for what we needed. And we were trading things all the time.

So the first big wipe comes along, and we find out that not only  are we going to lose the structures we had build, that materials we had accumulated, and the ships we'd built, but they were going to reset and wipe the accumulated talent points, and wipe all the money from the game.  So everyone started over from 0. All the work and effort we had in the game, thousands of hours of play time, all wiped out with nothing to show for it. Didn't like it...in fact...hated it...but fine...whatever...it's a new game and there  is so much potential, so we'll bitch & moan, but we'll start over. We built it up once, we can do  it again.

Like everyone else we start over. We start rebuilding what we had lost within the new parameters. As we start to get back to something resembling sustainable, here comes schematics and another wipe. Revamping mining, changing the way factories work, making it so it's extremely hard & expensive for anyone not in a large organization to fare. So we rebuild...again. Now, after spending hundreds of millions of quanta on schems, hundreds of hrs redesigning factories so they'll work, and trying to get back to where  we can actually create a service that can be  sold or traded in game we are once again screwed. Factories have been revamped, schems have been completely wiped and again...we're having to start over with nothing to show for our work, time, & effort.

I get that it is a game in development. We all got into it  know that there would be hiccups, changes, and unforeseen circumstances that may make parts of the original vision of the game unattainable. However, you don't continually bend over your player base, break promises, change fundamental aspects of the game, and refuse to compensate for those loses without expecting to take a serious hit on the number of people logging in. And if fewer people log in, fewer are paying your subscription...which leads to problems affording to keep up servers. This game was never going to compete with WoW, however you have/had a chance to make a very good game, with a very respectable player base. The more this game changes...the more it reminds me of another sandbox MMO that was very popular in the early 00's, and it went down the same path of changing things up. They got greedy. They forgot that they were a niche game and that while they would have a dedicated & avid player base...it was never going to rival WoW. Ask Sony how Galaxies worked out for them.

I refuse to be forced into joining a large organization just to be able to play the game. I enjoyed interacting with the other players and organizations without having to be in one. I'm tired of starting over. I'm tired of re-learning basic aspects of the game. I'm tired of building things up just to have them erased with absolutely nothing to show for it. And most of all, I'm tired of being lied to. And yes, whether intentional or not, the players were and are being lied to. And anyone who doesn't think they knew this latest wipe was necessary months before it happened is kidding themselves. They just  didn't want to deal with the anger they knew would ensue beforehand.

I don't know if I'll continue playing, if I'll just log in once in while to ck things out, or if I'll try and start over...yet again. This isn't a 'I'm mad and going to quit' rant. This is a 'this is BS' rant.

I feel like it is long time already that NQ knows things that they don't want us to know. Probably they perfectly know the path of this game like probably they know since long time if there will be a wipe or not but seriously... who would play a game spending money and time if they know there will be a wipe? Of course they are not going to tell us and they would keep it in the clouds.

Same story is with the server problems, is now long time they are trying everything to reduce the server cost telling us is for the game play, I was much happier when I could explore any planet and just dig and find something, now no, we are obliged to go always on the same spots where we placed the boring autominers for which we have to pay taxes for the owned territory. This wasn't for a better gameplay but to reduce the server load. Everybody want a server that runs well but can't everything focused to reduce the cost of it, it is not funny anymore. By the way we are paying for everything, paying to extract the ores, paying to refine them unless Tier 1, paying for the schematics to produce most of the items and getting crazy to understand how many schematics we need to produce something for ourself or to sell. Schematics that also take time to be produced so to delay the final production and discourage players to make industries. I repeat also that since the game play is completelly changed now I want to use my talents point for something else.

After I see the dictat from NQ imposing the new systems I don't have much to say and I can't believe in anything anymore. What the community is for if it is not used to understand if a new idea is what the players want before to introduce it?

If you had put this crap in your fund-raising efforts, instead of the promise to be able to build anything we can imagine, I would never have put out the money to support the game. But since I did, I get to bitch about it on the forums. For all the good it will do.

My sincere thanks to NQ for their efforts to make this game.  I think it has great potential, but wanted to give some candid feedback on my experience.

I've been enjoying this game throughout the beta, mostly as a solo player who has focused on industry.  I was starting to recruit players into my org and also belong to another org.  I have a modest but capable factory (until now) where I have been making products such as lights, displays, doors, etc. and successfully selling them on the market.  I invested the profits into crafting ships and expanding my base.  I enjoyed the market and crafting very much until this update.  (https://discord.com/channels/184691218184273920/748572194463940759/789842770884821022)

Now my factory is nearly useless.  I don't have enough talent points to access much of my industry and refineries, plus I would need to buy expensive schematics.  What am I supposed to do with a factory full of machines I can't access?  I can't earn credits other than mining, which is very tedious.  Without credits, fuel and materials, I can't build or fly ships or build bases and factories.

You haven't nudged me away from solo play (a direction I was already heading).  Instead you have pushed me off the cliff.  I tried to train using the talent points I had (a very tedious and obscure process) and ended up with a useless factory that I can't do anything with, ships I can't fly and nothing to do but mine.  I could join a large org, but my vision of building up a smaller org and recruiting players is dead.  I was very active in the market, now I can't make anything to sell.

I will not be playing DU anymore, at least until the gameplay changes in such a way that solo players/small orgs can have a path other than endless grinding in the mines.

Nice job.

Memoti got a reaction from Kurosawa in NQ - You're doing it wrong.
This patch seems to be perfectly in line with most of the others that have come out over the months. Some of the changes are good, or at least expected and understandable, (elements that need to be replaced occasionally, alt f4, & man. tool), however, the problem is that there are some serious bugs that are still in the game that make some of those 'outs' necessary (alt f4) like that bug where an adjuster gets stuck on and sends a ship into a spin, or brakes not working responding. But quit frankly, most of the changes just suck.

However, regardless, even with the changes that are good &/or expected, JC just can't seem to resist throwing in a kick to the giblets. The changes to industry will be a deal killer to a lot of people. PvP isn't the reason I played this game. I got into it to build/create things. And part of that was the industries, factories, etc. I don't mind the mining, it's not my fav activity, but it has to be done and I don't mind, although going out to find t4 & t5 now is like finding a virgin in a whorehouse. But the creation of factories, ship design, etc. was what I enjoyed in the game. Now you change it and tell me I have to have schems, and billions of credits on a market that may or may not work. Quit honestly, if I wanted to play Eve, I would renew my sub and play Eve.

I don't want to be required to go mine up insane amounts of ore just to turn around and sell it to a bot or someone who will give a 1/10 of value just to turn around and use that money to purchase materials to build buildings or ships. I want to be able to go out, mine, work, design, and create those myself. There are a lot of people out there that detest mining, but enjoy building. They hate building factories, but they enjoy mining or combat/flying. There are players that love to fly but don't like building/designing ships. Let the markets work based on that.
