[FR] Entreprise en Recherche & Développement Penrose Laboratories est une entreprise en Recherche & Développement ayant pour objectifs de tester les concepts et réaliser les projets les plus audacieux de Dual Universe, ainsi que d'offrir à tous la chance et l'opportunité de réaliser et construire ses projets. Origines : Le nom de notre organisation a pour origine les figures géométriques impossibles conçues par le mathématicien Roger Penrose dans les années 50. Ces objets impossibles sont des représentations de constructions fictives d'objets contraires aux lois physiques connues de la nature. C'est là toute la philosophie de organisation : chercher à atteindre les limites du jeu ! Notre structure : Nous comptons aujourd'hui une trentaine de membres et préparons le terrain pour la release de Dual Universe. La plupart de nos membres sont ingénieurs de profession et nous serions fiers de partager nos connaissances, comme d'apprendre des nouveaux membres et d'aider tous les joueurs francophones souhaitant développer leur propre projet !     Possible alien expansion

    I believe the devs have made comments about possibly adding more arkships to the game for players to be found in the future. These arkships would serve as spawnpoints for new players which would allow for a new player to forge their own way forward, rather than spawning in the middle of an already heavily developed planet/city. In between the 10,000 years from Sol being destroyed to the Novark landing on Alioth, there is quite a lot that could have occurred in the galaxy. One of these could have been a similar situation to earth, except with another alien civilization. These wouldn't have to be specifically arkships, just something that served a similar purpose of spawning new players into the game, and any new players who spawned from these would not be human. This could be anything from just cosmetic differences to even things like certain skills being quicker or slower to gain compared to the human skill-tree. A simple cosmetic difference could allow for emergent gameplay surrounding xenophobic governments, and having a difference in certain things like element appearance ( or maybe even function, though that might prove an issue for balance and also for people who are one race or another but want to use the elements of the other race ) which could make having a diverse org something to pursue. What do you think about NQ adding playable aliens at some point in the (far) future? I myself am not even sure if it would be a good or bad idea, but I do think that if they were to do it then this would be a good way.

If it hasn't been charted, chart it. If it hasn't been done, do it. Here, there is only one place for living life - on the edge. Do you explore the depth of the universe? Learn its secrets? Take what you find? Develop things pushing the boundries of what's possible? Do you want to gain and prosper from it all? Then join FEC, and lets FEC the system - Explorers(Scaling rewards per resource/discoveries found, partners & engineers will be directed to resources) - Scientists (Scaling rewards per innovation/new invention, 15% of all future sales said innovation brings, remainder goes to securing platform and your intellectual property) - Engineers (Per construct contract, efficiently building ship and base bodies ready for equipment, elements, and combat) - Mercenaries (By contract, or by hour jobs to provide security to FEC and partner bases, including "The Spot") We will have little requirements. You can join loosely as a casual FECer or a hard core FECer, its up to you. Though higher and more critical positions/ranks will logically require more activity, work, and/or contribution. You will be expected to protect organization property and interests when needed. We will also have plans to utilize some form of voicechat (likely Discord) unless such a system is implemented ingame. We will have casual RP (not mandatory). We will operate and work to maintain a organized but fun ANTI or REBEL- system/authority. We will attack/raid/defend and FEC things up of course, but that doesn't mean will tolerate a self destructive toxic environment, cheating/ooc hacking. Expected numbers and size?- Many may have questions about expected goal size of the org, and how large we plan to get. Right now, we're looking to fill 100 slots and no more, however this is dependent on if we implement activity policies, and if we plan to have ships with requiring a larger amount of crew members. So when Dual universe becoms more accesable (sorry for my english) and I will be able to play it my plan is to get enough rescources to build a decent sized ship able to carry 10 people or so, and then fly as far away ass possible from any civliztion until we cant. We land on a isolated planet never been explored and live off there doing our own thing until we get invaided by goverments or pirates. Am I the only one thinking about doing this or is this just a dum or impossible idea?

Whether logistics, resurrection nodes, territorial units, implants, cybernetics, probes or combat-related services; supply, production, combat, strategy or design – our hands are ever occupied and you might be inclined to ask: “For what purpose?” That our brothers and sisters live without want or worry; and that we provide the Universes’ necessities for living, breathing, productivity, trade, war and survival…taking your mind off the trivial matters and letting you focus on doing the things you love. Many a person will erroneously expect us to shrink from a battle on account of numbers, or fear to draw first blood at the threat of ‘sanctions’. Knives are for stabbing, fire for burning and tears for spilling. We are not many – for the sake of which a slight to one is an injury to all. The Xchange is not a nursery, it is a path through blistering deserts and freezing depths, angels, demons - a tasking journey for an easy life. Here, we fight like there is no tomorrow, we kill for our fathers’ ashes, and we would gladly die over and over again for our temples. We do not promise you success at every corner, nor victory in every battle. What we promise you are fellow members who will pat you on the back after every battle, be there as you step out of every Resurrection node and keep firing while you get ready for the next round; the strategy that wins you impossible victories or tactics that go awry because of new members. War is full of amusing coincidences and anxious waits, frustrating losses and inspiring events: allies that never show up, ambushes that never fail to surprise, blinding explosions and deafening cheers. Perhaps, the grit and gore of wars are too much for you to handle? Then immerse yourself in the aesthetics and musings of the best designs amongst fellow minds, or coordinate complex logistics and optimal transportation processes with likeminded hauliers. You are free to spend hours mining with skilled personnel, all the while talking about subjects you would be killed for discussing in the real world; learning a new language; sharing opinions and keeping one eye on the radar for hostile units at the same time. If your calling is to trade, do so with all your might – tense and in a haste to deliver a package solo, or taking it slow – viewing what beauty the Dual Universe has to offer while you travel in heavily protected convoys. Spend hours producing the materials, elements and objects the Universe seeks so desperately, selling at the best price to enrich your purse; or sniff out clandestine plots and live among the shadows, causing chaos where least expected, and dictating the tides of wars. Here, and among fellow members, you are encouraged to engage in what makes you feel alive. Silver Tongues and Poisoned Words “She advised them: ‘They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent; adder’s poison is under their lips. But, my lips will speak no evil, and my tongue will speak no lies.’” --Waves of Kings 67:2 We do not take our integrity lightly. The problems of shifting alliances and the ever-changing dynamics of power influence our choice to value our word above the obvious advantages. We are neutral – ‘less’ or ‘more’ are both qualifiers to the term. Without a doubt, Heimera has allies, but her allies have no say over her associations or generosity. Neutrality comes with more disadvantages than benefits – especially for those who desire to be true to their word – and that is something many people fail to realise. Our nature and our interests demand that more often than not, we may aid, defend, or assault certain interests of one or more parties in a conflict, especially when considering greater matters. The Xchange promises only this: Our ‘yes’ is a ‘yes', and our ‘no’ is a ‘no’. We do not deem ‘alliances’ as non-aggression pacts – of which we have next to none. Non-aggression pacts are treated as the highest level of trust we can express or receive; for which reason, we are cautious in giving or receiving such treaties. Doubtlessly, this Universe will be filled with tales of sly capitulations and noble sacrifices, which we are prepared to experience and come across; but much more than this, we are determined to find our way among lies and betrayals. Be careful though, a slight to the Xchange is rarely forgotten and will be repaid when least convenient for the offending party. The wonder of silver tongues is a marvel we will use many times, and many offenders will taste the venom of poisoned letters. We take our words seriously and we expect our trust to be well repaid. Efficient Simplicity and Elegant Complexity “Each to his own, everyone to her field. To be clear, we desire something above the normal; we strive for something that breaks from the crowd, every masterpiece has something extraordinary about it, unlike works of art that are simply creations from the artist. Is it a lot to ask that what we make is iconic? Is it too much to demand that every creator leaves a piece of himself in what he makes? It is not sufficient that products be original and pure, they need to stand among the best in what they do. Never spoil a developing masterpiece, in an effort to make it similar to another. Go big, go true, or go home. Warmth of Speech and the Coldness of Words “Ah, your words! They sting and they bite! Pray, if you do not know how to speak well, or even to speak the language of the Separated, hold your tongue!” --Oncis’ Tumults 21:5-9 The Heimera Trade Xchange is an interesting potpourri of backgrounds. Be that as it may, our preferred language for communication is English. As a means of fostering inclusiveness and opening the Xchange to other players, we have a ‘sister-organisation’ relationship with the First Mining Company, a Russian group of players. Thus, Russian is allowed via the FMC. Other than those two languages, we speak none other within Heimera – for now. As disciplined as we are, we fully understand that there are moments in time when pressure needs a means of escape. Cussing is allowed within the Xchange – but only to a reasonable degree. We are mostly mature players over the age of 18, and we would rather avoid the responsibility of monitoring the channels for the sake of the meek, young and innocent ones among us. Within the Xchange, there is more than enough free space for both lively and sarcastic talk, but we closely monitor anything that crosses the line on a case by case basis. Words within our dominion are to be used to entertain and edify, protect and pacify, not to subvert and kill. Behemoths and Harpy Eagles, Leviathans and Dragons “’And what is this secret?’ He asked, almost stumbling into the flames. ‘It is not so much a secret as common sense.’ She said, swinging her weapon. ‘And?’ He pressed, dodging the hot muzzle. ‘It is very simple, good sir. There is no doubt about it: hopelessly outnumbered and on near equal terms in equipment, nothing but a miracle can save a small number of highly specialized soldiers. However, resources are not infinite, and there is a good reason successful companies do not hire hordes of unemployed to toil away in their factories. An operating principle of the Xchange is efficiency: doing more with less. While this doesn’t mean we will be conceited, turning away new applications and choosing the pick of the litter; we won’t be in a hurry to accept new members all the same. We have never been and we can assure you, never will be in a hurry to gain members. We are not here – and frankly, cannot afford – to offer counselling services for every awe struck wanderer in Dual Universe that has no goal or sense of direction in a new world. We are, however, more than ready to help people who have a clear-cut objective in mind. Rather, we are willing to hold them by the hand and guide them through the Universe. Whatever we have mentioned here are our public interests. Should anyone feel he has something to offer and gain, the Xchange is willing to sit down and talk. The process is simple: send a crystal clear request through the Community Portal, and follow that up with a concise message about yourself and your objectives in Dual Universe. Within 12-72 hours, your application will be accepted with sufficient instructions for the next step; or rejected, justifying your exclusion. We do not consider our fellow brothers and sisters to be ‘resources’.   7. Who are the Dual Universe Wayfarers? A group of explorers that share a passion for discovering what secrets Dual Universe has to offer. This stretches from discovering new planets in the farthest reaches of the galaxy to diving through the deepest seas. If there is something to discover, we will find it. For the Individual: Currently there is a space program with one of our sponsor organisations that will provide ships during alpha and beta for the avid explorer. Don't like building ships but want to go to another planet? Come be part of an exploratory crew. Don't want to leave Alioth? Do you prefer discovering the secrets of the planet chosen as the destination for the Novark? We have a place for you too. (One of my Eve Online Characters and the name of my Dual character) Rison Gillard was among the first wave of individuals aboard the USS Novark - Along with Sohan Decker and others - to be awaken first in order to explore, exploit and report on the new planet found planet the Novark had landed on, Alioth. After a month of exploring, exploiting and learning. Rison Gillard learned that, all by himself, he wasn't going to get anywhere, thus decided to found a small guild of players, after which this became known as the "Galactic Republic of Planets" even though the only explored planet at the time was Alioth. The Year is now 12.390.02 and the Galactic Republic of Planets looks to a bright and peaceful future amongst the stars of the new galaxy. This organisation will provide easy access to supplies so you can explore the galaxy freely without worrying about what you will eat next or where to stop for supplies. You will not be confined to lots of rules and regulations, but instead you will have the freedom to explore wherever, whenever you want. We will help you get whatever you need to explore. All we ask in return is that you give us the locations of beautiful and or resource rich planets. We can then sell the locations of these planets to organisations or people, for a very cheap price.     Defunct Probes

    The developers have said they don't want to make pre-made content. This makes sense because in the lore, humanity has spread far across the stars and of course, where they're going, there's no one and nothing there. The game is supposed to be about players rebuilding everything from scratch, and so the lore and game mechanics tie together perfectly (as they should, obviously). But according to the lore, Arkship technology was developed about a century before the ships were actually completed. This technology most likely includes the propulsion technology. Someone surely must've used that tech to launch some probes out into the galaxy to aid the search for potentially habitable planets; I mean just think about it. That totally would've happened. Humanity needs a new home, so before we finish these massive starships capable of housing millions of inhabitants for thousands of years, run by AI and made of magic material, why not send out a couple probes to see if we can find a good direction to launch them in? I think it would add not only some interest to the exploration side of the game, but also possibly the lore, if it was possible to find probes out in Dual Universe. Old satellites that are no longer functioning, but from which minorly valuable rewards could be obtained. Before you persecute me for suggesting pre-made content, remember that it not only fits the lore but could actually improve it, and it really doesn't take any of the fun out of the whole "we are rebuilding civilization" aspect of the game.
  14. Novacore Creating Paths for Mankind What do we hope to achieve? We hope to be the first to explore the unexplored. We achieve this by combining the skills of skilled engineers and talented designers to craft a highly technological spacecraft to survey and study the undiscovered pockets of space. When we manage to discover these new pockets of space we immediately setup beacons and allow our Far-Worlds division to start construction of our Stargates to open up that sector of space to every civilian. What does the organization focus on? - Opening new trade routes - - Spaceship development - - Industry trade - - Contracting services - - Technology advancement - Diplomacy We don't want to have any strict laws that bide you from having fun whilst a member of Novacore but we will have some rules(list coming soon) to create a safe and respectful environment for all its members. We are also open to alliances with other organisations, please contact DarkNovation if you are interested in what we have to offer. What roles do we offer? To achieve our goal we have several different decisions that make up Novacore: Research and Exploration - As a member of this division you will embark on the maiden voyage in our Hi-Tech research cruisers (Plans coming soon) equipped with FTL drives to begin our explorations. This role involves surveying each system entered, from planets, moons, sun size, any life sustaining planets, identifying warp points around celestial bodies and placing Stargate beacons to await the arrival of our Far-Worlds construction division to construct the Stargate. Far-Worlds Construction - The purpose of this crew is to use large industrial jump carriers to bring supplies and workers to distant worlds were no civilisation has been established. The main purpose of this fleet is to create the Stargates so more vessels are able to enter the newly discovered sector. We also use these vessels to assist in the creation space stations and planetary colonies. Novacore Spaceport - Exploring uncharted space doesn't come cheap. To solve this issue we use our technology and design department to develop ships not only to further our goals but also develop ships for civilians and private contractors. The ships we can produce are of the highest quality and are all equipped with our latest technologies. Miningcore - The Miningcore was setup to allow for the income of ore and other materials to supply our Spaceport and Factories. Members of this division use our mining ships and large transport freighters to collect material from asteroid belts and gas clouds. We also have a division that works on the surface of celestial bodies extracting materials located on various worlds. Processing and Development - This division is were the construction of our factories are commenced. We use these to turn the minerals obtained through mining and refine them into usable materials. We also use the factories to develop parts and technologies from the technology division in our Spaceport. These are then shipped to storage houses and our trading outposts with help of our logistics carriers. Defence Division - This division hosts all of our security crew and ships. Whenever an exploration expedition is planned to commence we will send a defence squad with them to make sure no entities attack the vessel. We also have mercenaries for hire open to assist other organisations in their endeavours.(Note - We only allow our services for protection and don't wish to be involved in bounty objectives) Marketing and Trade - This division is were our logistics takes place. This is were we use our industrial haulers and carries to distribute our ships from our spaceport and goods and tech from our research labs. We also setup trading outposts after we construct our Stargates in each system allowing for easier trading between allied and neutral corporations.     Exocaching

    Some of you may be aware of Geocaching, and if you are then I'm suggesting an in-game version and you already know where I'm going. If you don't know what Geocaching is, I suggest you look it up because you might be interested, and you can almost definitely get involved. Anyway, given the nature of Dual Universe I think it would be awesome to create a system of Exocaching. That is, you would go out into the universe and build a little something on a random spot of a planet or asteroid. You would then mark this location on the central Exocach database, and any other player could see the location in the database and go and find your cach, and put their name there to say they found it. They could be easy, like a big pink monument in a sandy desert, or difficult, such as a little pedestal inside a small natural cave in the same said desert. They could simply be small creations with the names of the those that have found it, or they could provide clues as to the whereabouts of other cachs which aren't in the database, meaning you would have to find the first one to find all the next ones. You could even make whole treasure hunts out of them for other people to find! Although, the point of most cachs is that they don't contain anything valuable, so as to deter theft/vandalism and promote fun. This sort of thing would require: - Coordinate systems, i.e. 'xy' on planet 8 of the system at 'xyz' - A method of keeping text in-game, i.e. minecraft signs It would also need willing participants, though that isn't up to the devs. For a game like DU, where everything is made by the players and there is a huge multiplayer galaxy to explore and discover, I think this could add something fun for people to do. See any reasons as to why this wouldn't work? Think it would require other features on the developers part? Is this something you would be interested in?
  16. Phoenix Initiative was established with the intent of exploration. However, exploration by itself is not possible without supporting infrastructure. The Branches of Phoenix Initiative provide for the fulfillment of our exploration goals. Phoenix Initiative was founded by Allen Tainia after the historic landing of Novark on Alioth. His strong will and determination have brought us together to enable the human condition to learn about the universe. It is solely this desire that initiated the objective of exploration. Join us, satisfy your curiosity and fulfill your destiny. PI is split into branches, then departments, then, if need be, sections. Each branch will manage its own assets and can issue requests to other branches for its assets if it requires assistance. The directors all share the same duties as the highest ranking officials in each branch, however, they outrank them and act as the leader of each branch. For branches with two directors, the first position is called Alpha and outranks the second, Beta. Each member of the Core Assembly is one of these ten directors. The Core Assembly will make all decisions concerning large-scale PI operations with Allen Tainia as the Chairman of the Core Assembly. The rank of Journeyman will apply to all brand new recruits across each branch. They should not take long to advance to their particular branch's lowest rank. Journeymen will be judged more quickly and probably more harshly due to their untrustworthiness (forgive the negative connotation here). More trusted members will be allowed more leniency, since they have proven themselves. *We are currently taking applications for all vacant Director and top-rank positions (Admiral, Master Coordinator, etc...). When Alpha arrives, I will approve the best applicants and make a formal announcement to that effect. Applications submitted sooner have higher priority, so don't hesitate to apply. This waiting period gives a fair chance to everyone who applies. Application is not necessary to join PI, but it is required for Director and top-rank positions. When the time comes, I will be announcing received applications/accepted positions on PI Discord. (see below for link) Don't forget to check out PI on the community site! Director/Top Rank Application Position: Age: Timezone: Estimate how much time you could allocate for us: Why should I pick you for this position?: To submit the application, PM me with a filled out application on the forums or on Discord. No application necessary to join PI, only for leader positions. Although there is a clear hierarchical order here, I intend for the gameplay rift between highest and lowest ranks to be minimal. All ranks ought to share somewhat the same style of gameplay. The only intentional difference is that the higher ranks get to call the shots. The agents of PI are expected to behave in accordance with a very simple code of conduct. PI is an organization based on exploration, science, invention, and diplomacy. We are not pirates and we are not griefers. We do not blatantly steal and destroy. Harassing other players in any way is unacceptable. Definition of harassment is entirely up to me and the judicial department. Violation of this code will result in punishment or possibly expulsion from PI. We will consider all actions and statements from you, even on "your" time. That includes in-game when you are not working on PI activities, or on the forums or other DU related community. Any character will be allowed to be members of other organizations only as long as there is no conflict: Not a pirate or other disreputable organization. We are not pirates and we do not associate with them.* You do not overextend yourself. Working two jobs takes a lot of effort. Will be allowed if you can handle yourself. No conflict with the other organization. If you're not sure, ask them. *Note that I said this was a character limitation. I am fine with you having another character which is a pirate. In fact, I may do that. This applies to characters only. I don't want people to get their hopes up for something that just isn't going to happen. A first day spawn just isn't going to become captain of a ship. Nor will a weekend-only player become a Director (a role which is supposed to be extremely active). I realize that sometimes things change or people encounter problems in their real lives, so those who lose time to play won't be punished or demoted as long as they tell the rest of us what's going on. This isn't meant to discriminate good or bad players, it is meant to manage expectations and avoid unpleasant surprises. There's nothing inherently wrong or bad with spending your time elsewhere. Regular playing and socializing lets me and other officers in PI examine your trustworthiness and willingness and ability to contribute, which allows us to place more trust in you. Very likely that only those who tend to play with us, get on VOIP with us, engage with us (and a lot of it) will get higher ranking positions or more benefits. This may seem to be unfair to those with extremely limited time and/or money, but that's the way it is. Trust is earned, not given.     Random Wormholes

    I've been thinking of ways to make the exploration aspect of Dual Universe more interesting. Things that would be rare and awesome to find, but avoiding pre-made creations, something the devs want to stay away from. I haven't had much luck. However, I did have one idea that I think, considering the current plans of the game, would be easy to implement, and that is random wormholes. They would act exactly and identically to stargates, which as many of you know are player-made FTL tunnels that allow quick travel between systems. There are a few catches that could make wormholes unique and separate from stargates, the main one being the first one: - They do not remain open all the time. They may only be open for ten minutes, and closed for 10 real-life days, in a continuous cycle where timing is crucial. - They spawn randomly; their entry and exit points are randomly located, whether inside systems or out. - They might have a chance to destroy ships going through; what's fun without risk? - They only have an entrance; no turning back! - Their exit or entry points fluctuate. Could be 10 kilometers or 100 light years. Perhaps a cycle that players would need to figure out, i.e. entry-way remains fixed, but exit point is constantly moving in a circle, so it eventually returns to the same location. A wormhole would work on the exact same mechanics as a stargate, except that it would obey any number of the rules listed above, making them unique and yet easy to implement once stargates are implemented too. Any other ideas of how wormholes could behave, or other ideas on what would make exploration more interesting and rewarding? Remember that the devs want to minimize pre-made stuff spawning in the game.

    Question About Planets

    If it took 10,000 years to find a habitable planet, that would be that earth like planets are very rare. That being said, one the main concepts of this game is exploration and colonization. If players are to colonize other planets, how many of those planets will be earth like? How many different planet types will there be? How far out will each planet be from each other for each solar system?
