Yep, I think its not that big deal, considering very humble number of active subbers. Sums in question barely comparable to multi-million investement needed to re-vitalized NQ.

Its question how much courage NQ will gather to own mistakes and roll back (in some parts -- back to the drawing board).

I hate when you make good points, but on the state of the game we've always been in agreement.

A good step one from my point of view would be an admission from NQ, that yes, the game in its current state, is not ready for launch. After that I would like to see an actual development roadmap that is updated. Plus a series of devblogs laying out how NQ views various systems and their roles. Not just a pie in the sky "We're building civilization."

As for what to do with the current subs if we returned to an alpha state, Id say grant access to anyone who has paid for at least 3 or 4 months since thatd roughly equal the cost of the lowest backer package for alpha 3. For those with less than 3 months, give them a discount on a new access package. With those with more than 3 or 4 months, give them free game time once the game actually releases.

I think this is where they lost all support from KS Backers from long time ago. And this is the reason we dont believe a single word of what they say, knowing the State of du for years.

Get it to alpha again, fix broken stuff, communicate what you do next and then start over. Otherwise I really cant See this working

"The right approach to set such a price would be to evaluate how much time it takes to recoup your investment by selling the products that the schematics allow to produce. It should be a few months so that the investment is a real commitment and it makes sense to plan for it."

Yea, no.  Grind for money to buy a schematic then use that schematic for MONTHS to break even?  Nope.  Not my idea of fun.  I want to build and craft and enjoy all the systems implemented in the game.

Further, schematics do not protect the economy they just delay the inevitable.  They are only an initial cost, not an incremental expense which means the market will eventually be flooded with people owning them as a subset of players grind their way to wealth.  The reality is, no video game is going to have an actual functioning economy.  Partly because it is too complex and requires numerous motivators only the real world provides for most people, but mostly because functioning economies SUCK.  Why?  Because for every industrial giant like Rockefeller, you have 100,000 low-level peons swinging a pickaxe.  People expect to be special in video games.  The CEO, not the janitor.  You cannot have an economy filled with CEOs, but you cannot have an enjoyable game when most people are stuck playing janitors (or in this case, miners).  This game is doomed to a VERY niche audience.

(If you really want to keep parts from flooding the market you would be better off with a licensing system which incurs a reoccurring cost.  Still not what I want in a game, however.)

You mean a city with a function and a purpose?  One that is dynamic and player driven? One that can also change over time, or be conquered? Or successfully managed and defended?

Actually they could have fixed the previous bugs without introducing new features and new bugs. Games do that all of the time. But NQ has ignored so many bugs for months and years that they just feel like features at this point. Or theyre so deeply engrained into the system that they cant be fixed without untangling the bowl of spaghetti that is the game code.

Lighting/shadows vs voxels and elements completely borked now. As it was they did sort of leak through some voxels/shiny material (which all looks like cheap spray paint instead of awesome glossy metals, btw - for instance check GLOSSY Lithium now looks like cheap silver spray paint.) and if you designed a voxel hood with holes in it you could get some really kool effects using the Vertical lights. Also, to create drama and other kool effects I was using things like containers to block light. this no longer works at all. Light just blasts right through all elements now and the voxel hoods no longer work.
Luminescent glass - while it's great that the glare is cut, you went a bit too far. Also, it no longer casts a light from what I can tell. While I applaud the more matte shaders for the matte materials you all went too far and reduced the emissive qualities a bit too much. Hope you all try to look into this as for some of us trying to eek out a nitch, in DU, you just broke us. I may be a newbie posting here, I am far from a newbie to material shaders in game development.

But these arent even general texture or graphics upgrades. Madis still looks the same, so does Ion, so does lacobus, so does space.

They shouldve done what the promised 6 months ago and totally revamped the planets. Instead we got some new tree and rock models. Woo.

Alpha backers have literally nothing to lose, as the money has already been spent. Either the game pulls out of this nose dive and they come back no worse for wear, or it doesn't and they don't. Your blind faith is meaningless.

For me most of magic died out, when I realised, that (at least -- currently) game not about cool space empires/interconnected society, politics and wars, but about small groups (or even solo) of boring nerds, sitting on their factories and containers, bragging how much useless shit they producing, owning or building. Amazing creations.
