Do you know of any other technologies that use the Actor Model in a cloud server farm? I'm interested in finding out more about them.

I don't think KSP-type mechanics would add much to the game. Anyway with magic future engines you don't need to worry about saving fuel by doing transfers and gravity assists.

I'd guess you're probably going to have to wait until alpha or beta to see something like that, when they build out their server farm.

Welcome, I see you've been properly introduced to CaptainTwerkmotor. I thought in their last videos one of the ships looked kind of reflective. And in the asteroid base building video, they use some voxels that have patterns on them. The graphics are still a WIP so hopefully we'll see some more interesting updates to that.

I can't remember which game, but you could actually switch between 3d map and a flat map. I wouldn't mind that, because for some purposes a flat map can be useful, like having one common frame of reference for making territory maps and at-a-glance navigation.

I actually like the way Eve and other games do it where you can make a logo by combining a bunch of preset shapes. Otherwise you get a big range of simplistic to pro images which makes them look very inconsistent.

No it's not just for the game, it's for your character account for the game and all of the server infrastructure and support for it, and all of the ongoing expansions and updates.

I was referring to the base turrets in Planetside 1 that shot at vehicles.

I think automated turrets would be fine as a deterrent so a solo suit can't overrun your entire battleship in a few minutes, but not something you would take into battle. Makes me think of Planetside where unmanned turrets will shoot with a slow rate of fire, easily dealt with but can give away your presence, and when manned they are much more deadly.

Chat system is listed in the features list on the crowdfunding portal. Org chat is pretty much a given for an MMO, or it should be.

I also use Firefox and have no issues. Maybe try disabling add-ins, or uninstall and reinstall.

For me the main thing is how to prevent players from collecting their own bounties from a friend. Maybe if you could limit who can claim the bounty to specific individuals or orgs.

I don't think the hidden one is even a thing (for release), because I remember NQ mentioning they don't want to get into feature creep.

There might be issues with giving players the ability to excavate more and more area of earth per time. Instead, efficiencies could be made in processing and production.

I would get 16, or at least plan on upgrading to 16 later. On some games I do have more than 8GB in use. -

In the IGN GDC video you can see a few materials that are on the periodic table, like iron, gold, silicon, etc. But they also had others like ceramic, plastic, resin, the alloy duralumin. They mentioned there would also be some fictional materials like kyrium to explain "magic" sci-fi tech. I doubt they would try to make the properties of everything super realistic, but the whole system looks like it will be pretty complex.
