    Is this stacked or legal?

How much intersection should be allowed is exactly whatever we are able to do in build mode without using exploits. My guess is that the limit should be something like 5% or so.

And having a slight intersection caused by bad hitbox detection is not stacking, not even close. Stacking is using two players in combination to exploit a now fixed bug that would let you place multiple elements at the same position with 100% overlap. So NQ did not even have to implement the current live check in the clients. All they had to do was to run a one time check on the servers and disable any construct with confirmed stacking exploits.

Which makes the current detection solution just another example of NQ throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Which sadly is becoming a thing..

It's a huge deal. Yeah it's fine for the average player with a few ships. They might be able to move a few elements around and fix the overlaps if it's a loosely built ship. But what about ship builders? I've sold about 700 ships. All of them were built tight like a tiger, but LEGIT. Now I have to go around and redeploy hundreds of ships for buyers so that they can use the ship they bought? Not cool. Literally 75%+ of the ships in the game will be non-functional if this system goes through as-is.

The glowing element wireframe needs to be a grace area. Only clear overlaps of the actual visual model should trigger it. In short, the detection zone needs to be a little inside the visual model, so that a tiny corner of a wing poking an engine doesn't make both of them not work. This will make the current problem go away, but also ruin all the blatantly stacked ships out there, with 8 engines in the same spot.

The combination of weekly taxes with daily calibration is killer -- when people are spending more than 10% of their time on mini-games, something is wrong.

What's scary to me is that NQ doesn't seem to understand the purpose of mini-games in game design. It isn't as a crutch to replace major gameplay elements lost when you removed digging ore out of the ground.

Mini-games are meant to be fun diversions with little impact to the main game. You shouldn't be constantly required to play a damn mini-game. Arguably, you shouldn't be required to play a mini-game at all. In DU, the mini-game doesn't break up the monotony, it is the monotony.

I know it's harsh, but sometimes I feel like DU was designed by a game design intern...there's just no way an experienced game designer would think this is a good idea.

And you need two calibrations to get the MU working at full efficiency. Even if we wouldn't lose calibrations it would take 2 days to get 100 % after a week absense from the game. That means that a player who logs in for one hour every day gets more ore than a player who logs in for 7 hours every week - with the same mining units, the same talents and the same total play time. That makes no sense with a subscription model. If I pay real money for access to a game I expect not to be punished for not logging in every day.

    One word, information.

There are so many subsystems in this game. Crafting, trading, markets, tile scans, tiles, constructs, talents, MU's etc. And they are all their own master, with completely different interfaces and ways of presenting information. Take for example the MU's where you have to run around like a headless chicken directly interfacing with each and every MU separately just to check their status. That makes no sense what so ever in a sci-fi setting.

So what we need is a simple and straightforwards way of gathering all this information from different systems in one place, so that we can compare and strategize.

There wouldn’t be ghost towns like Freeport or Utopia Station if NQ didn’t keep scaring off the players. Our own modest org was at nearly 50 people as of pre 0.23. Now we are in single digits, if that some days.

now that I think of it, does Freeport even still exist after the introduction of taxes… I visited it last year for a couple of hours and saw not a single other player.

I was really surprised to see this update and I was really disappointed!  I spent days on scans and finding ok-ish tiles with more or less ore max 1.8KT and I am not a hardcore player.  Casually comming into the game knowing that I have set myself with a little piece of pie  for later.  I was mining and enjoying gameplay. Now NQ disregarded all that and throw away all countless efforts of me and everyone who was all about finding nodes and mining them. That action is not for beta games, I would say it's acceptable maybe in alpha stage of a game.
What's next buying tiles on asteroids? Fuel tax?  Maybe meteorites falling down on our tiles destroying MU for mining too much?

Never the less, on the other hand I was truly excited to see this update. I was thinking that now I don't even have to look for ore, just set up MU and enjoy free income do whatever, maybe even dare to go to PvP and see outside safe zone. At the moment I have casually played DU for a year and I have not been to every planet outside of safe zone yet. All the time I am in the safezone. I could not afford to go that far and loose a descent ship. And mostly upgrading and rebuilding experimental space vehicles for myself.

Calibrating MU that is super boring and very annoying to go and harvest ore after, believe me I have done alot of harvesting before I figured out how to find it in the ground ). The profit margins no where near as they used to.

Since the update the only things I have been doing is trying to figure y the way to make money to pay for 7 tiles.  I thought it will be super profitable. But it is't more profitable, it is more hussle than ever befor. I have to keep up on my MU almost every day and keep an eye on my territory upkeep. And it feels like a second job. Now prices of ore fall down almost as a year ago. This update would work if t1 price would be firm at around 80's and now it's going rapidly towards low 20's.

I am not playing DU because I need second job and whole alot of stress. I have plenty of it in real life. I play DU because I love space the freedom to go where I want to go, build what I want to build. Now I feel obligated to play this game every day so I could at least keep what I have gotten. Probably will wrap it up and move to Sanctuary Moon yeah so much fun!

So sad I prepaid yearly subscription.....
And for the whole year before I was paying every month, even though I wasn't playing every month. I have done it because I liked the game and wanted to support it. I really hope you guys at NQ will give your heads a shake.
At least provided some weekly missions so I can pay for my bloody tiles if I don't play DU ever day.

Also may be instead of giving 150k a day, make one tile on any planet duty free........

The 230 litres are only if they have max skills and 60% tile bonus and do NOT calibrate via VR. So it's the best you could get if you got everything out through skills and luck.

Many streamers show how exactly these 230 litres are not a standard, they all seem to be unable to manage this and usually get values between 98-182 litres.
Maybe he'd like to stream a round and prove how real these numbers really are, if it's that easy.

Limiting the number of constructs an org can have is a bit scary, depending on how limiting it is.   As a ship builder it is important to have the ship out where people can see it.  Most people dont want to buy a ship they have never seen.  This can also reduce market use.   if i am limited on how many ships i can have on display then instead of buying elements for a new ship i will just have to demolish an older build and reuse those elements. I understand that limiting constructs for performance but please just not toooo limiting.

Also, please have some wrecks in pve areas as i dont pvp.  You can never force people to pvp, but you can force them to leave the game.

also the derogatory nature they have towards those who don’t like fighting in a digital computer game means that IMHO, they deserve zero respect in or out of game. If they call non PvPers carebears, the non-PvPers should just label them what they are: sad, lonely men looking to find some compensation release or satisfaction in a computer game, far away from the emasculating reality in which they apparently live.

I still pop on daily to claim my welfare cheque, lay down a few voxels and pootle around in my ships.
But I don't stay on because Madis is deserted... I even flew to Freetown on Alioth expecting to see a bustling city and was shocked that I didn't even see another yellow marker on minimap in an hour of wandering around. That reminded me of the last few months of Blade Runner City in Second Life, before they deleted it: Beautiful desolation.

I went to Utopia and saw about half a dozen avatars... So I logged off.
Really not much fun playing alone.

But to be honest, if I knew there was NOT going to be a wipe before hard release I would play, but I've already been through (I think) four wipes in total and I can't be arsed to put any effort in if it will all be for nought in six months' time.

I've said it before and I'll keep on saying it, I really don't like NQ when they use the word exploit.... It's a weasel word that attempts to shift the blame from the devs' own mistakes onto the player base when it's actually a bug.

In fact in this case, it's not even a bug, but an as yet completely undeveloped aspect of the game.

Also, non consensual boarding has got to be one of the lamest things I've heard all day.

but since the UI has undergone zero meaningful change since they apparently let the interns loose on it a year or so back and made everything take up twice as much space and require twice as many clicks, I’m not going to hold my breath for any improvements to be made.

They really need to rework the UI from the ground up, it’s a hodgepodge of legacy code, some that clearly dates back to the very first “release!”

The lopsided seating position of the avatar in the char is very annoying when you have a symmetrical ship. it sets off the old OCD in me.

I'm not a fan of effortless 3rd person views in MMOs because of immersion reasons.
Years ago I added a request for external sensor units or even just using current elements such as radar or weapons to allow an external view. If they were all destroyed, you would loose access to third party view and thus retain the value of good cockpit visibility.

I've never used or crafted one, but do armoured windows' shutters actually open and close?

I'm a fan of tech trees... I think that DU should somehow introduce research as an alternative to purchasing.
NMS has a decent enough (but still too simplistic IMO) tech tree. IIRC, you can research blueprints on your base computer or "unlock" them with tech tokens. You can also buy some from vendors on stations, it's not perfect, but it's better and more engaging than DU's approach.
