Currently NQ are trying to reduce server load.
Their #1 method to do so is to dissuade new players from signing up and clogging the servers with their noob activities.
Their #2 method is apparently to do everything in their power to reduce the number of current players renewing

Basically there is so little fun left in this game that NQ are on course to achieve their ultimate dream of zero server load within a year of release.

Be careful, you aren't calculating the one person they probably still pay to remove all disenfranchised players from the forums for "unbalanced feedback". Their finger is hovering over the button to remove you for not being more gleeful about staff cuts, bugs, unbalanced gameplay, you should be more positive, despite your ignored support tickets.

To the OP, super sorry you lost your ship, in game support used to be one of the better aspects of the game when they had GM's in game. I hope NQ finds a way to return them to duty, if not I think a game will surely die. A subscription based game needs to have support staff online in game, this is a very reasonable player expectation for $15 a month.

That is making the assumption that nobody is buying schematics... One single L core schematic costs 725,000 ℏ. building 10 L core constructs removes 7.25 MILLION ℏ from the game.

That is a lot of spitty (censored apparently!!) missions required to run just to build something decent.

Considering this game ONLY has building, it's like trying to use  a CAD program but having to Fugg (Also censored) around with a random feature every hour in order to keep doing what you want to do.

Now, if those sub processes were in any way fun it would be considered "playing the game" but the fact is the DU PVE content is about as fun as a colonoscopy.

Talk about top notch DEV work! Imagine how much effort they must have put in for this alone. Hundreds of man-hours, at least. I bet they can hardly sleep at night with all the dev-crunch needed to squeeze out a complete steamer this massive.

Here an example: Just for the lulz I wanted to see how much time, effort or fun (oh God ...) is there to be had in doing this. So I went and bought a Territory Scanner for several millions, then I had to buy a Tier 2 Autominer, very expensive as well, then I went and scanned soooo many territories (on Alioth, I was looking for Tier 2 ore of course). Then out of ALL the scanned territories, only ONE (!) had Limestone in it, and get this - 1 Liter per hour!

So of course I set up everything and calibrated and what not, and started the Autominer - checked a few hours later and it had mined precisely 0 liters. Apparently it was mining just about 0.99 Liters per hour. And since you cannot operate with ore less than 1 liter (for instance you cannot move it to a container), the Autominer just stopped after the first session apparently.
Very well, I thought to myself, let me buy another tile next to it, then the "adjacent" bonus will kick in, lol.

Well, it is now at 1.01 Liters per hour. And for that territory I have to pay 500.000 q in Taxes (to the thin air apparently, and for no LOGICAL REASON whatsoever, just out of pure annoying the player).

So, I called Sam and McKay and they did the math: Just to be able to actually pay for that territory, so that it can remain active and "mining" for ONE SINGLE WEEK, I would need to run the autominer, for a WHOLE FREAKIN YEAR (in real time).

Of course in that year, every few days I would need to actually re-calibrate the damn thing, because if it falls below 1 Liter/h again - you guessed it - it will stop mining completely.

So, imagine the IMMENSE FUN to be had. One year long running the bloody thing, calibrating every second day, so that I can finally have 500k quanta to be able to pay 1 week of taxes. How exactly is this supposed to work? Naturally right after the first week the stupid territory will become inactive, so there goes the plan with the one year anyway ...

It's just mind boggling how they do everything possible to make this game annoying, tedious, boring, limited, restricted, time-gated and just bloody useless.

yeah, great upgrade of the game, another limitation added as they saw a previously called feature now an exploid.

Sorry but in this thinkpatern everything can become an exploid. why dont we scrap all missions from today on as they clearly are exploided already since beta and knowingly.

    we the people

    to  P L A Y this game,
by the people for the people
have had it with the corporate style of "playing"

a month after the release the one world is brimming with "user" content blueprinted in the 6 years of beta

New players taken aback by the steep learning curve starts mining and selling ore (some game play huh)
Next they buy a 2-6 million blueprint and buys the elements and honeycomb and fly away in to the sunset.

We (me and my friend) started out in the beta for a few months  before the announcement of wipe.
Now we play the full Monty as we see fit. Yes we had blueprints from the beta but they stay mostly in the Nanopack.
We bought blueprints of nice ships and used industries to manufacture A L L  the parts. Only tier 2 and 3 ore we had to buy since the ore scanner L and the uncommon mining units L was useless  in finding A N Y ore above tier 1.
Did I mention we have a day time job too? We are struggling to find reasons to stay in the "game"

Let's just finish  this ship and manufacture only warp cells and kergon fuel so we can explore this relatively empty universe and look at all the beta blueprinted mega complexes made in the image of god  before NQ goes bust.

A bleak future awaits us all. It's all too sad.

It is a paradox that in the construction space sandbox we are limited in construction and production.
First, they introduce hundreds of details that make up the craft and then complain about the server load. What prevented us from putting ingots into the assembler right away and getting finished products after tens of minutes and hours.
Talk about a fully modifiable world and complain about server performance when terraforming. (What prevented a week or two from simply filling up these ditches?)
And what prevents you from increasing the number of asteroids by 5 times and removing this moronic tracker? Give a radar for asteroids with a radius of 10 su. I found an asteroid - saved the coordinates and dig quietly, including in the pvp zone. Oh yes. PVP will be difficult for those who wish to look for their victims)). And who is easy now?

Pretty much sums up the last five years of my experience... As @Kezzle correctly pointed out above (on whom I'm sorry that I vented my frustration),  I get logically that PGUP and PGDN shifts the voxels perpendicular to the surface but as soon as I think about the placement rather than the controls, I pretty much lose all sense of control and end up mashing the keys randomly until I find the axis I'm looking for...

Repeat this 100 times for larger cuts and pastes and it's an exercise in frustration. I much prefer the way the precision voxel tool XYZ works.... Page Up and Page Down are always on the Z axis. It means we only have to juggle two axes. up is "away" from you, down is "toward" you, left and right do pretty much what they say on the can. I find I'm rarely confused by it.

A voxel nudge tool using the same vertex nudge logic would be wonderful.

@Kezzle  My apologies for being a bit of a Tracy earlier on; my personal frustrations at the game should stay pointed at the game, not at other supporters. I'm really sorry!!!!

Why is the world so obsessed with hype and why can't NQ see this...

The reason why the game is so good is that the people behind it learnt from their mistakes. they admitted to their failures and changed direction. This is something other companies could learn from but... unfortunately there are too few examples of that.

I still hope that NQ can pull a(n) HG and revitalize  the game..

I think NQ especially underestimates this as a problem...yes, you can tell people to stash stuff at a safe moon, but that again puts the work and effort on the player's side.

A player that's about to churn isn't going to take the time to pack up their stuff and move it to a safe moon expecting to come back someday. No, they're just going to churn.

The best MMOs (and subs in general) understand that every customer eventually churns...but they also frequently re-engage.

NQ can scold players to move stuff to Haven, but that misunderstands completely the mindset of a customer that's about to churn...and it's NQ that will suffer from this shortsighted concept, because clearly their churn rates are very bad among new players (as you can see from Steam's rapidly dwindling active player count).

With no (apparent) strategy on how to grow the game, re-engaging lapsed customers is critical.

Telling the few customers that want to re-sub "welp, you should've moved stuff to Haven" is naive and self-defeating.

Also...if the OP wasn't aware of how this works, many others will be in the same boat...it isn't like NQ does a good job explaining all these rules.

They expect players to seek out this information, to do the work to prepare for their own churning sub, and don't see any issue with this at all.

    Couldn't help but comment.

Their CTO's last job before NQ was an internship. Their head of tech's only other job was as an intern, so saying their work is "intern-level" isn't even a stretch, it's literally true.

GraXXoR got a reaction from GeminiBrian in THE FUTURE OF DUAL UNIVERSE - Discussion thread
The rate of post release updates is extremely disheartening. We're getting the tiniest of bug fixes trickling out when there should be a flurry of activity... Hello Games releases MASSIVE patches (sometimes weekly after a DLC drop) for NMS fixing dozens of bugs at a time,  with a staff comprising about a dozen coders. And that's on top of constant, quartly MAJOR patches (I believe the latest patch is about the TWENTIETH major patch in six years. So that is between three and four truly major updates per year surrounded by bug fixes as and when needed.

Compare that to this game where every time they release a new feature (and by feature, I mean remove a game mechanic), four other features break.

Still, it only took them four years to release XS space fuel tanks, so at least they're on the ball there. LOL.
