    What Is Fair Use?
    In its most general sense, a fair use is any copying of copyrighted material done for a limited and “transformative” purpose, such as to comment upon, criticize, or parody a copyrighted work. Such uses can be done without permission from the copyright owner. In other words, fair use is a defense against a claim of copyright infringement. If your use qualifies as a fair use, then it would not be considered an infringement.

    Welcome at the Iridium Cartel Forum Recruitment and Info Center.
    We strive to be an strong economical player in the DU Universe. While still focusing on having fun and mainly focusing on interaction between people.
     
    Pleaes do keep discussions about ingame or forums topics out of this thread.
    Pleaes don't bump this post without any worthwhile info/ changes or questions (No: Bump~ Just for the sake of it.).
    WIP: More to come ;3. Just reserving the spot atm. Do mind the rough state of this, just starting this up. Any feedback is welcome, as long as it's constructive.


    Our main goals are simple:
    - Setup bases of operation, where members can craft and store their goods.
    - Setup sale sites for said goods.
    - Maintain a way for non-members to work for the Iridium Cartel. For an payout in ingame coin.
    - Maintain a way for members to work for the Iridium Cartel. For an Payout in ingame coin or Iridium Credits.
    - Have fun working together and enriching each other.


    If you're interested in joining,
    you will be required to become a member of “The Empire” too. There's no negative aspects of being an "Empire" member or an "Iridium Cartel" member in a monetary way.
     
    No Taxes are levied.
    No mandatory tasks are handed out.
    No part of your freedom is taken away.
     
    The only negative aspect might be, that in war times ... empire members might be suspect to force by third party military actions. If they end up in the crossfire of conflicts somehow. While protection trough the military of the empire is a given during the whole duration of being a member, in an proportional response to the aggressive nature of what happened.
     
     
    So how will the Iridium Cartel found itself with money and ressources?
    Quite simple!
     
    If you work for the Iridium Cartel without payout in ingame coin, you will be awarded with “Iridium Credits” as a member. These can be used to buy things which are not for sale for the public or you can get a discount on general sales products. The more people work for “Iridium Credits”, the more products and services we will be able to actively hold up for them.
     
    Aspects of “Iridium Credits” : (not finalized, might and will change over time)
    Only 5% above production cost fuel prices!
    Rent-able transports!
    Specialized LUA for escaping people in Space!
    Seminars and Training about Markets / Trade/ Flight !

    FAQ:
    Q: Do i need to be an member of "The Empire"?
    A: Yes~ We don't see any real negative aspects of being an civilian of "The Empire" and it will make communication between our corporation and others that joined the bigger entity easyer.
     
    Q: Will i get an even share if i do a task in a mining group?
    A: Yes. Regardless of what you're doing, everyone will agree beforehand to handout a equal share to each participating member. Mining, Transporting and Market related dutys will be generic tasks of a mining group. So that someone who flys a transport from A to B the whole time will be awarded the same as the people mining or the people that setup market related tasks (based on the time they spent on the task). But the group can always decide to do things fully together, from start to end. But this is still in a "concept" stage ... we will see how well it holds up in beta times.
     
    Q: Will fuel for transportation tasks be supplied?
    A: Yes and No. You can add fuel consumption into an calculation we will provide, so that an extra bit of the share should cover that extra cost. Do mind, fuel consumption will be calculated on weight moved and the distance. So if you use way to much fuel then a halfway optimized transport would, you could end up with a bit less real wage for your task.
     
    Q: What is a public fabrication site?
    A: An area where anyone will be able to craft. Either with their own ressources that they supply, with only a fee for the crafting building usage = they can keep the endproduct. Or with the resources of the Iridium Cartel, where they will be awarded ingame coin for finished products= they will need to sell the endproduct at a given rate.
     
    Q: What is a public market site?
    A: An market where everyone can create buy and sell orders, regardless of membership status or not. No discounts or controlled rates for products will be in place in these areas and only a small tax will be deducted for transactions. But the main use for the Iridium Cartel will be, buying ressources off non-member players for later fabrication use.

    Some or maybe many players could find it odd to see an organization thread with basically a FAQ right away without an introductory section about the organization.
     
    At least I had that feeling.
     
    I therefore suggest to add one that briefly describes what the "IC" is all about or that it is part of X so that the following information (what comes after) is logically connected or doesn't seem "off".
     
    Of course some of the info is but a click away or can quickly be looked up due to links and whatnot. But it would be either courtesy or simply convenience to add a small descriptive paragraph.

    True and wrong at the same time.
     
    Well alot of corp will still come up and even be well done.
    You don't need 100+ people for a corp to work. 2 good friends would be enough already for some, 20 would be a good count for alot of these.
     
    YOu can say that 90% of all corp registered members are probably ghosts, they might comeback or not.
    But before we reach Beta, anything out there is just a note for people to look at.
     
    Wait and see. Make a corp yourself or join one.
    If it fails, evolve and take the next step.
     
    A few of these corps will surely get trough, simply by the tenecity they show over the time.
    And the active people that drive them.

    Ohhh that's a difficult question.
     
    Well generally the ingame economy will always be in flux.
    And if you had experiences with other games you can guess what to expect on inflation and deflation to an extend.
    - that at some point the devs wont churn in new fresh ingame coin like an EU/ USA money press
     
     
    So you can expect the ingame coin to become more worth, the longer the game goes on. As the total amount of circulated coin deacreases~
    I can't say more without going into NDA covered aspects ;3.

    :3 get a room you two. Try to focus on the topic.
     
    Survival mechanics MIGHT be added in some form.
    But more like a deteration factor for people to build extrem deep underground bases.
     
    We might get "food" and "water" too.
     
    But anything on that is speculation and or rumors atm.
     
    What we most certainly wont get "AIR in Spaceships with integrity checks of hulls".
    That is a server melder ... just play "From the Depths" to see how your pc reacts to 20 ships on water ... when they get riddled with holes. Now imagine what the server will say to a few thousands of these checks per second xD.

    I think the Beta stage is where you check thing and edit stats so it not got too OP or too Weak, balance thing. But i think what NQ want to say that in release there only ONE spawn point system, not mean there only ONE SYSTEM for a long time after launch.

    NQ confirm there will be a very basic FTL system , more complex will come along with the stargate expansion i think. The point of StarGate isnt allow you to instant build and go to other system but to reduce the time go between 2 system and thus it need you go to the other system first to ping a location there then build a StarGate at the first system so in the end it still require FTL to build Star Gate.

    As soon as we get more info on materials.
     
    Expect a ton of different materials to be resilent to different types of damage.
    Intermix them either by layers or random patterns and you get a wall that can't be easily broken down for an entry hole.
     
    When will we have info about these?
    I guess when either PvP hits the test or when we're close to Beta/ Realese.
     
    Outside of that, i guess you there's stil a bunch of elements you could use to "absorb" damage. That you could hide inside walls. Might cost alot altough.

    Or ask Yamamushi for inputs as soon as you get to actually being "ingame under nda". And then think out better suited rules ... and means to track people actually adhereing to the course.

    For starters you should limit "things" ... alot more.
    And specific size limits more clearly ... + how much engines/ fuel/ etc is alloweed.
    Which will need to be in the "NDA" covered part of this forum you will gain acess too, when you get into alpha.
     
    And lastly, fly the course yourself a few times. You probably will drop out of the sky duo lack of fuel, if you make it to large of a track. Simple logic on these statements ^^.

    Rather than cutting weapons up into several different ranges, classes, speeds, etc, I think it would be smarter (and allow for much more customization) if guns were put into a couple simple groups (Size of the base: anywhere from .25 meters to 100+ meters) as well as classifying the type of weapon they are (Spinal, Turret) plus maybe some damage types like kinetic, energy, or whatever. Everything else like range, speed, accuracy, tracking, and all the other stats that a gun should have can be controlled by modules, similar to the weapon system in From the Depths. Want a more accurate gun? Add a longer barrel. better tracking? Increase the power to the turret rotor system. This would even allow for an actual "Death Star" type ship in the game if a ton of people were crazy enough to assemble a massive ship with the majority of the interior dedicated to powerups for the one gun. On a smaller scale, it could also allow for ships to wildly customize their arsenal, like having a main gun designed specifically to take out fighters, or a high range and high damage but incredibly inaccurate gun designed for orbital bombardment onto a city. With a weapons system like this, the possibilities in PvP will be endless, just like they are in the rest of the game.

    Remember ... this is pre-alpha.
    It's by no means a finished game, to be played for playing sake.
     
    Expect bugs, crashes, tight shedules for testing ... etc.
     
    If you're fine with that. Jump on.
    The deal is quite nice. You get a year worth of sub time with the DAC + all the time till it actually realeses and the goodys.

    But this isn't a  star citizen.
     
    Not to dizz them.
    But the CEO wanted 4 games in one game. With the prettiest graphics ever.
     
    What he made were these 4 games in the end.
    Scrapping one or even two of them.
    And fucking over the maingame, as the engine isn't meant to handle more then a handfull of players and ships at a time.
     
    When your engine is meant for FPS shooters ...solo ones. It's not the best idea to go MMORPG with that.
     
    Dual has some promising ideas and concepts. And one can see the devs are working on things.
    Just check back next year. Probably will be around Alpha/ Beta if lucky~

    I started learning LUA for this too.
    Javascript came to me for the game called screeps.
    Check it out.
     
    It's always good to know more languages. And java isn't so different from LUA, after learning a bit more LUA.
