That's Awesome! Ether way I am excited to finally be able to play it my self even if it will be buggy, but it will really make me smile if we do get to keep our blueprints because it only save you time from redoing what you did once be for right?  Plus most of my blue prints will probably be things I planned on putting on the open market anyway.

Hello let me introduce my self! No puns intended! =)

I think profits will be great for weapons smith like my self because people and organizations will need the weapons to keep themselves safe! There will probably be average weapons on the market for people or organizations that my not have the skills or art to make them, but I am planning to make special orders that will be blueprinted and only sold for that organization's or person's own exclusive use.

As of being a pirate I thought about it but I will not be doing any fighting because : I'm more of the lover type than fighter type!  =)

If you have questions I maybe able to point you in the right direction but some of the larger pirate groups have all ready ben named. There are smaller organizations out there if that's what your looking for but you will probably need to send there leaders a message to set up a contract! So keep in mind if the larger orgs or too pricey there are smaller and cheaper orgs out there you just need to contact them.   =)

They will have a whitelist-system on lua-libraries. Only the ones reviewed by novaquark are going to be enabled. Network-connections arent allowed. This way, NQ has the full control of what you can and can not do with lua scripting.

GunDeva got a reaction from Kurock in Territorial Untis and Limits for Possible Tactics
Many people are talking about player cities and I think that's great but Territorial units is what people may have forgotten about and will mostly effect the smaller organizations and solo players. No one knows if there will be a limit on how many territorial units one person can have? I was going to start off solo my self but then after rethinking on it I knew I could not accomplish  my goals by my self. I wanted to have a shop on every planet then I thought that might be hard and unrealistic so then I thought one shop in every solar system could work? After thinking more about it and what it might take to run a business like all the materials and services that I would need, things started to look bad and might take me forever not to mention I might only be able to have 10 or less territorial units total! In the end I felt its was better for me to join a organization not because I could not do it my self, but the time it would take me to do it solo would seem like years of grinding.

There or other tactical questions that come with territorial units defense's like: if someone destroys, takes or hacks my units what happens to all my stuff? I have seen a tactic used in other games that concerns me: where someone will come along and place a military base right next to you city and be for you know it your toast or being sieged! If your organization does not make a tight defense someone could easily put a base between you and your allies! I am sure other people can see where there might be potential exploits or even seen them in other games that have city or base building.

There is more but I don't want to right a page right now and I will wait and see what the community thinks but I am sure NQ will have a plan by final launch I hope.

I agree total and lets not forget the real world system !@#$ = you may not be to happy if your currency doesn't match up with the big organizations! The currency ratio will be all over the place like in the real world now. Lets have fun and just keep its simple and if you prefer to use something different you could use the old darter type system over currency.

the fact that there will be conflict and that structures will need to be rebuilt / repaired is one of the draws to this game for me.

I am more of a builder / gatherer / explorer type play (I'm not great at pvp). and the idea of logging into the game and immediately being directed by my organization to help rebuild an outpost that has been attacked, sounds like great fun.

as far a city design goes, I think the first organised city's will be built by organizations, as most solo builders are more likely to want there own little homestead / mine / etc. and this would push them further a part (depending on diameter of the claims)

I can't wait to see what people do with this game when it becomes available

In the future they will implement stargates, which allows teleportation. So only the first time traveling to new solar systems takes that long. This time is targeted by NQ as the best time you can reach. They will also implement (post-release) a function to send out "probes", which teleports you to that location, when they have reached their destination, so that you can build a stargate. But all of this is post-release!

There will be enough currency fluctuations going on with one currency, let alone an infinite number of them.

The city around the Arkship will very likely emerge naturally, when merchants, recruiters and offices set up. Maybe some factories too, but getting ressources back there would probably be harder in the future, since every newcomer pirate hangs around there...

I had the pleasure to talk to JC for about one hour at gamescom. Here are some hopefully new informations I can remember:
JC dont know when the Alpha is ready but it is going to happen in 2018 The Market-Feature is going to be implemented in the first update for the alpha (some weeks after the alpha launch) They havent done much yet to prevent hackers To prevent glitching when standing on moving objects (like space engineers or GTA) they give every construct their own relative coordinate system, called Local-Frame, which the player is bounded to. To detect which Frame is the right one (e.g. jumping from a ship to a planet) they send a ray downwards and the ray detects the Frame underneath the player. Right now only the skybox is rotating, but planet rotation is planned for the future On Tuesday, August 22, Novaquark has implemented a sitting function for the couch (not a joke!) They are hiring several new people starting in september, including a webdeveloper, who is going to work for the first 4 month on the community portal full-time JC itself has written the LUA-Scripting, flight-mechanics, logical-gates and the HTML/SVG Screenunit The Community Managers are really happy seeing such a growing community and that much interest in the game Most of the people at novaquark are playing the game mosty at work, not very often at home You can freely reskin the entire UI of the game, the whole UI is made up of HTML and CSS, NQ wont prevent making changes to the ui Right now, you can embed any HTML-content, except for Javascripts, in the Screen-Unit, e.g. embedding a Youtube-Video works right now, they arent sure, if they continue to allow that The client and the server are written in C++. The client needs C++ for the performance, the server is also written in C++ due to the high amount of the same code with the client. They wished, they could make it in a safer language like Java, but htey simply doesnt have the time to write a lot of code twice. Traveling to other planets takes in average 2 days, to other solar systems 2 weeks When the player has a limited internet-connection, they lower the refresh-rate of constructs and players When the player has a slow computer, they are limiting the viewing distance and also lowering the refresh-rate of constructs and players The goal is to reach 30fps on every mid-sized pc Thats all for now, sorry for my bad english and some typing errors

GunDeva reacted to Warden in DU - Gamescom content anywhere?
That's a rough or big advantage of the intended setup: They don't have to spend so much time with world and story-building compared to other games. That's a general "advantage" (has pros and cons, or rather, is subjective) of that type of sandbox genre though: The players have more power in building the world, literally, at that.

    But time will tell.

On another note ... I guess that counts as "DU gamescom content" ?

GunDeva reacted to Soro in Alpha Postponed. Thoughts:
I am excited by the "Pre Alpha release.
I think allowing up to 1500+ people at the server at this time will be a good test for NQ and DU. The fact that they want to keep what a promise although it is not quite ready to their standards of release may speak to a desire for perfection.
Until we can get into the game and see what is waiting we'll never know. As for the NDA and not wanting to see it streamed; I can understand that.
Some people just have a desire to try and destroy something so they can feel good about themselves. It's sad but true.
Bring it on NQ, Thanks for having some faith in us as a community.

GunDeva reacted to Comrademoco in Alpha Postponed. Thoughts:
    I don't think it's fair to Novaquark that we began saying the Alpha got postponed or,  *Postpone* being the right word to describe this. Since untilmately we will be getting what we were promised, just under a different name for once simple reason;

NQ doesn't feel comfortable (yet) calling this relesse "alpha"

Anyways, whether pre-alpha or alpha or whatever name NQ decided to call it, we are getting a release of DU in September.

We should be happy that what was promised is getting delivered!!!

GunDeva reacted to Vorengard in New Dual Universe Articles (08/22/17)
I think the biggest takeaway from these interviews is the better impression we're getting on JC's idea for how the game should expand and grow. Specifically this quote:

We've all known about stargates and FLT drives for a long time, but this seems to be saying that those things are going to be deliberately designed to be unreachable for years, and I don't think most people realized that.

This is a really big deal because it completely changes how people imagine the gameplay, and how we need to pitch DU to others. If we sell people on the idea of exploring a massive universe like No Man's Sky (man do I hate that comparison), then they're going to be extremely disappointed when they get in-game and realize they can't do that for years. If the game's not actually going to become functionally interstellar for a long time, then we need to understand the implications of that ourselves, and make sure we market the game appropriately to our friends.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely and completely agree with this sort of long-term thinking (if this is actually what JC meant by those comments). One of the most significant problems for open world building games is that they always feel empty and lifeless, because everyone and everything is so spread out. By forcing players to remain in a concentrated area (first on Alioth, then the starting solar system), the players will be channeled into building a living and active world, instead of just scattering all over the galaxy and never seeing each other again. This is a great idea, and shows a great level of forethought and long-term planning.

    Hi Ultragamer,
    And welcome to the community.

You should try to join the DU Constructors Guild which is about what you are proposing.
They have a discord and people are sharing their ideas, pictures and concepts about contructs.

I'm not sure you will find many people sharing complete 3D models ready to build because you will be able to sell your constructs in DU, so most of the builders want to build their own ideas before anyone can copy it.

We;ll have to see the Alpha and later optimastion for such a question in my honest opinion. My suggestion to check how strong your laptop is, is this :

Donwload Planetside 2. Play on a ridiculously overpopulated battle. If it's above 15 FPS, your laptop can handle anything thrown at it.

f it turns to 1 fps but the client won't crash, chill, chill, your laptop can still handle ANYTHING else.

Planetside 2 is the best game to test your rig's power level (despite your opinion of Planetside 2 as a game in general xD)
