As other's have pointed out, yes, they will include Alpha 1 and 2. While it may not have been the best way to answer the question, they are correct.

"We also announced a while back that those Supporter Packs wouldn't give access before the Alpha 2 phase. However, after many internal discussions, we have decided to proceed differently, for the reasons explained here. If you have only just discovered the project and are ready to dive into the many worlds of Dual Universe, these Supporter Packs will give you the opportunity to help back its ongoing development and redeem exclusive items, too! Not only that, but by pledging the Patron Pack, it will allow you to take part in the live testing during Pre-Alpha!"

"Nearing the end of August 2017, we made a second announcement in which we decided to delay the Alpha 1 phase. We wanted to adopt a more progressive approach in development by improving server stability first before adding additional gameplay features. You can find that announcement here.

Today we announced the Supporter packs, which give the following access:
Contributor Pack: Alpha 2 Sponsor Pack: Alpha 1 Patron Pack: Pre-Alpha You can find the announcement here."

The access phase stated in the individual packs just means how early you'll be able to get in to the development of the game. If you back Patron, you will have access to Pre-Alpha, Alpha 1, Alpha 2 and Beta.

Which also leads into the next quote and answer:

     ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
This is why there are only 3 different packs this time around. You are not buying for the perks. You are buying for the access and to help test and support Novaquark in the development of Dual Universe.

The perks came and went with the Kickstarter and Founder Packs.

" Please choose the Supporter Patron Pack only if:
        - You want to help the Dev team improve the game experience immediately and you are okay to test the game under NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement).
        - You wish to support the game extensively without in-game access at this time.
    "
    Source: http://dualthegame.com/en/news/2018/03/07/regarding-access-to-pre-alpha-and-the-patron-pack/

This is why there is also a big red warning message confirming you this before you confirm and buy the packs.

Disclaimer: you are joining a game that is under development. While you will be able to play and we hope you will enjoy the game, this is a real Pre-Alpha and as such, you must expect the following : The game servers are available once per week (Each test date & time is available at the top of the Dual Universe homepage) The Pre-Alpha phase is under strict NDA (Non Disclosure Agreement). It means you cannot share footage of the game. There will be bugs, game crashes and the client isn't optimized for low specs computers. As we are in Pre-Alpha, not every gameplay feature (such as PvP and the Economy) is available in-game. You can check the homepage in order to see what is available now and what will come later. You can also check the community Trello for more information. Thank you @Alethion for posting this

See the lines I made bold and underlined @FullSend.

The packs are not meant to be about the perks, but rather your faith in Novaquark and helping them with the Development of Dual Universe.

Lastly, I believe this should answer the question of the topic now!

    Hi @Star Explorer Catptain,

First and foremost, welcome to the DU community, soon you'll be able to become an official backer with the upcoming Supporter Packs. Regarding your inquiry on the News updates, I'd like to point you to two sites that can help you in this matter:

    https://www.dualthegame.com/en/news/

Over the last 3 months there has been countless of concept art blogs, addition of the community Trello, information about Territorial Units, PvP, and most recently information about sanctuary moons.

While not as active as the News section, there was tutorial video about the blueprints available currently to the testers...

However, if you are inquiring about more detailed information regarding news updates, changes to the testing on the client or how the game is currently performing, this will be restricted (unless otherwise publicly published by Novaquark) which is under a Non-Disclosure Agreement.

    Hope this answers your question.

Sadly -well, not necessarily sadly but- because of no AI and LUA scripting limitations, AI droids to man weapons or act on behalf of real players, is not something NQ wants to focus on.

One of DU's core aspect is player interaction and player-driven.

This means that if you have a giant capital ship with 100 guns, you will need 100 players to man each one of them. Admirals with strong leadership will thrive in that environment

And personally, I think this is great, since it gives players value when it comes to manning ships. That little recruit or cadet is not so useless after all, eh?!

But to me the most important thing about NQ is that they explicitly state what you CAN'T do and what they DON'T aim for

This post will point out a positive opinion of mine towards DU in the hopes of encouraging it.

I'm coming from playing Star Sonata for 10-15 years. I played it since I was very, very young. The developers make promises and set goals that are never accomplished. They dont communicate with each other or the community hardly at all, let alone well. It takes tons of time for anything to get done, even simple things. Long standing, huge bugs are gone un-communicated within the dev team. Also, the game mechanics are very horrible. It would take too long to get into specifics on this one.
Because of these things, I have lost my faith in the game and the developers. They no longer have any credibility, as the statements they make and goals they set are rarely achieved, and the decisions they make seem very misguided, along with a toddler-level communication system. Star sonata also wipes their sandbox every 4 months, making it not very fun at all to make a 'home.'

DU seems to be the opposite. Every decision they make seems to see the big picture. For instance, DU is striving to make sure that people have free places to build, but that there will also get to be 'movie like space battles,' and motivation for said battles.

DU clearly communicates very well. I feel that I don't really need to explain this one. They have dev blogs, videos, tweets, gaming convention meetings, etc etc.

DU works very quickly and efficiently, making really good decisions. Obviously, I cant expect a small game to compare in speed. However, SS had a steam launch date set for YEARS ago, which 'is being worked on' still. There are also accounts (not mine) that were given a specific ban time, and they have yet to be unbanned -- months and months past the ban time. DU has been showing results for the projects they say they are going to do.

The concept of what you do in DU matters, because were all together and it is all *kind of* permanent (someone can blow it up), is absolutely amazing. For me, when thats combined with the combat aspect, this is absolutely amazing.

Overall, Im crazy excited, and have some really nice faith built up in the devs, and I see them as credible. I have faith that they will make the best decisions possible, because of their actions and how they've communicated and the really good decisions they've made up to this point - everything from the travel system (stargates, FTLs, etc) to the voxel system, to the aspects of combat, and safe zones. DU is the game Ive been searching for for so, so long, and does everything right that SS does wrong.

*This post is purely my opinion*

    Hi everyone,

It seems the DevBlog was not clear enough on some points.
We have said it many times before, and we'll continue to say it again:
While many players wants to see Dual Universe with a dominant gameplay aspect, it's important to understand that it's NOT the case.

Building gameplay is as important as Combat gameplay. Not more, not less. Balancing both won't be easy and we are aware of it. No, Building is not the major feature of Dual Universe. If the Building aspect has been made first, it's only because, it was making total sense to start the development with this part: we are pretty much in R&D field regarding the Voxel technology. It was an essential piece of tech to build the base of the game: Voxels were necessary to create editable planets in the first place. Then the logical next step was to develop tools to give players to manipulate voxels. That wouldn't make sense to develop Combat gameplay before the two previous steps because, there wouldn't even something to destroy, or even an environment where the combat could happen.

The order in which the features are developed are NOT by order of importance.
It's just a matter of logical game development roadmap.

We have no plan to make Dual Universe a total free for all PvP game, just as we won't make it a whole game universe safe, just because some players want to explore it completely without taking any risk. While we don't plan to make our game some kind of "EVE Online 2.0", we don't want either to make a "No Man's Sky 2.0". We understand this may not appeal to everyone taste, and we totally understand that. However, if there is something that is very unlikely to change, it's the fact that there's no intention to catter to only one specific category of players.

A final word about the griefing and the mindset of the community. Our point of view is that griefing mainly proliferates when it's an easy way to get rewards with little effort, not necessarily because many people really wants to play that way. Of course, there are people who like to grief just for the enjoyment of annoying other players but we are convinced they're not a majority. If game mechanics are designed in such a way that griefing doesn't give easy rewards, then griefing will be naturally limited.

Why not simply remove the possibility of griefing, then?

Yes, it would be clearly easier and quicker to remove the ability to grief other players, but while we have no intention to encourage griefing, removing it totally would go against the very definition of the sandbox concept: players are free to interact in the way they want. If we remove any kind of interaction, then we are not in a Sandbox MMORPG anymore: we would be in a Theme Park one. And that is not Novaquark's vision. We want a game universe where bad behavior is discouraged by game mechanics and heavy in consequences if a player still choose to do so, than arbitrarily forbid the said behavior. We want players to be free but also to live with the consequences of their choices. That's what Sandbox mean to us at Novaquark.

    Best Regards,
    Nyzaltar.

I understand your frustration with this topic, 0something0, however, I wanna suggest the following: take this topic for what it is; a discussion and not an affirmative decision on both NQ and the Community when it comes to PVP, Griefing or Scamming in game.

Most of the comments in here might change and the overall response of the community to a better more united one once we near the release of DU.

We've yet to figure out many missing nuts and bolts about how exactly all of this will work out in the end.

Remember this is just a discussion and the voicing of the concerns our community has -and its perfectly fine - NQ is definitely listening (or reading in this case)

What is it? A DU community competition, here on the forums, where anyone can suggest an in-game game and then the community will vote for their favourite.

    (Scribbles are welcome)

    Rules:
The game must take place in playing field of at most 110x75 meters with a height of 50 meters inside Dual Universe (give or take a few meters) and should cater for spectators. A single post may be made per person detailing their idea. Keep it under a few paragraphs, enough to get the idea across. Pictures (even mspaint drawings) may be beneficial, but keep them few. While this is more a sales pitch than a complete design, if you feel inspired, just DU it. Entrants are free to make assumptions about DU combat and how elements work in DU, if relevant to their game. Working in groups is allowed but only a single person can enter the group's work here and win the prize. The competition is open to all that can post on these forums.
Dates: Competition entries start on 1 February 2018 with last day for entries on 22 February 2018. Voting then starts on 23 February 2018 an will continue until 10 March 2018.

Prize: The winning suggestion wins a game key of their choice and DICE (https://community.dualthegame.com/organization/dice) will implement a prototype of the game and potentially add it to the roster of DICE games. The game keys can be chosen from: The Long Dark, Quantum Break, Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition, and Tomb Raider.

TLDR: Yo wazzup! I heard you like games so I want to put games in your games so make a game then I award you with a game in a game as well as a game that is not in the game. Kapish?
