I'd like to believe the ship will be big enough to carry enough cargo for them to be self-sustaining rather quickly. It would be extremely difficult for them to live disconnected from the rest of the server population, but I imagine at some point they'd either create their own ships to get back to Alioth or create a stargate of their own.

We're not really responsible for anything but getting them to a planet, though, so after we unload them and continue on our way it's up to them to figure things out for themselves.

I'd like to believe that any organization or group of organizations that come together to establish a colony like that would have some sort of plan in place before we left Alioth...

I'm one of the few "selected" alpha team members.

I can say that there is no difference between my status and those that purchase Alpha access.  And even though I was selected for Alpha, I went ahead and purchased a package that had alpha, because I want to support NQ.

There is no difference between the two, and you will get in at the same time everyone else does.

I liked the idea back in Star Wars Galaxies:

When a character clones, their health and action statistics are reduced by 75% for a period of 10 minutes. There are three ways of healing the cloning sickness:

    - Waiting it out

    - Watching or listening to an entertainer (in a cantina, hotel, tavern, theater or any player structure).

    - Visiting the surgical droid in most major Cloning Facilities that will remove the cloning sickness for a fee. This fee amount increases with the level of your character (for a CL 90 character the fee is 5000 credits).

    Hi everyone,

While we can understand some behavior are not acceptable, the official forum is not a place where screenshots from external media (like Discord and such) can be posted without the agreement of all involved parts. Posting links to external websites just to display discussions from Discord fall in the same category. This forum is not meant to be a place to settle your score with anyone (even if there are good reasons to do so). This thread will now be closed to avoid any further outburst.

Hello everybody, i wish to play a game. Not any game that is, but a text based game for you forum people.

    What is it like?

Well imagine Hunger Games, or any other Battle Royale kind of game that you have encountered before.
That's pretty much how it is going to be like. It's however based on my own creativity and everything is something i've
come up with myself and wish to share. Also don't forget that this is tweaked to sci-fi setting.

Now how is it going to be set up?

It will be set up the way that people interested in participating will have to PM me to reserv a player slot, there will be a max of 10 players.
When it starts every player will get to make one move per day, and this is based on live time. The moves will consist of having your
character either travel around the map or attacking, sleeping, chasing gear or whatever more that is presented at the start. Players are also allowed to communicate with eachother in the comment log but it should be limited talk, i cannot however restrain people from talking too much but you get the point.

[The map can be found here: http://imgur.com/a/X13nI ]

Day one all participants will spawn in the Sector Zero, in this middle point sector there will be weapons, gear, items of different kinds.
If you wish to grab an armored space suit or run away to another sector and hide is all up to the players themselves.
I will be using a random number generator where i've put in possible events everyday and it will tell me if an event will happen that day
and if so, which kind. More importantly a random generator or dice roller will also be used for attempted attacks, everyone will have the
same chances (accuracy) when trying to shoot another player.

EXAMPLE OF A HAPPENING: "Day 3 starts out with Player Y moving across the dangerous mountain tops at Sector A1 only to his horror face Player X waiting for him on the north side. Y Wants revenge for the equippment stolen from him Day 2 and blasts X in the chest with his Standard Issue Pistol for (damage) X twitches and turns around and dives down a cave in the mountain side 50 metres behind him. He has to spend his night there.

[Here is a quickly made doc listing the setup for this game: https://docs.google.com/document/d/12eJagXkPi_ubd1dcYZOeNf0g_AbOIa6FTgA3xzIJnbU/edit?usp=sharing]
(Note that damage, health and other things like that will not be revealed until it starts)

There will be rules for how you can move, for one you might have two movement points per day, you can use one to move from a sector to an adjacent one or hide the night in shelter, maybe attack another player. Or to two of these things. Some options will be presented to you as hidden features that you discover if you get into a situation with the right requirements.

So when would this game start?

Preferably i will fill all 10 participant slots and thus be able to decide on a date pretty fast, otherwise i'll give it a few days and then set a starting date with the participants there are.

I would like to reward the winner of this game as well, if anyone has any idea for this or want to help running this show feel free to PM me.

There is a monthly fee of about 13€ to play this game once it is released.

Use the search function - there are plenty of topics about this already.

Either you pay on a monthly basis or you earn enough ingame cash to buy a DAC from another player and use it. So essentially you can play for free if you make enough ingame money.

No, F2P is no option here because of the single shard server
No, B2P is no option here because of the single shard server and the resources your character needs (server side) each month

We want quality gameplay with good mechanics and good gameplay and expansions, so P2P is the only viable option here

    The Tempest Mission

The Tempest Mission is an inter-alliance effort to develop an advanced self sufficient deep space vehicle under a joint effort to map out space before the advent of Interstellar Stargate Networks.

The supporting game feature behind this mission is that players will have the ability to fly manually to another star system instead of using probes, although the journey would be extremely difficult it could be a very unique experience. It may take weeks or months to reach another star, but in doing so manually you would be separated from the rest of the players by several weeks time at the very least.

We aim to provide a path to colonize deep space before stargate networks can be created, and to provide a heavy role-play focused experience for people who want to embark on a mission reminiscent of the Starship Enterprise from Star Trek. This may actually be one of the closest things to a Star Trek type experience, going on a year long mission to go where no man has gone before

I do want to stress that this is not an organization for everyone, as it will require a heavy amount of dedication and focus to see it through to the end. However, for those that stick to it, it may end up being an extremely rewarding and unique experience that could not be had in any other game that exists.

The long term goals of The Tempest Mission involve creating either a web series based on our lives onboard, or blogging or something along those lines. We want to make our journey feel like we’re really going where no man has gone before and living day to day somehow.

The findings made aboard the Tempest Mission will be made publicly available after they have been screened by the participating alliances for sensitive information. We want to incentivize other groups to contribute to the project, although many groups are probably working on a similar idea.

What sets Tempest apart from other larger organizations is that we are entirely focused on this single mission. From day one, even if it takes us several months to get into space, we’re going to be focused on doing whatever it takes to make this mission become a reality.

We welcome (and are actively looking for) colonists, who are free to travel with the Tempest to ultimately depart to live on uncharted planets for the establishment of colony worlds. These colonies will be separated from the Alioth system, and it is undetermined if they will once again gain contact with the home system.

Some of these colonies may become abandoned landmarks lost to time, and some may even become wealthy and powerful centers of commerce for their regions of space. If you think what we’re doing is hardcore, think about the people who want to live on a planet separated from the rest of the game alone for who knows how long. The ultimate survival game?

This may be one of the easiest ways for players who want to go 100% solo to get what they want.

The Tempest Mission is expected to take 1 full (real life) year to complete in order to meet the standards to be set by the planning committee.

The Tempest will not immediately depart for deep space on its year-long journey however. Instead it will first make a 1 to 2 week journey into deep space to test the operating capabilities of the vessel, as well as the ability for the crew to work together in confined conditions.

After an evaluation and findings analysis period, Tempest will continue to ramp up its expedition periods until a 1 month survey has been completed satisfying all guidelines and protocols determined by the various planning committees involved in the project. The idea being that we want to know how hard it is to survive out there alone, and we want to know exactly what it’s going to take for us to go out there for a one year journey. It’s likely that the entire design of the ship may have to be re-evaluated if issues are found, but that’s part of the risk of taking on the project.

Over the course of the project, The Tempest crew are expected to provide updates, either in the form of “machinima” RP-style videos chronicling their week to week lives, or blog posts on the project website. We want to keep the entire journey feeling alive and worth being active in.

We will carry out the Tempest Mission in several stages of development, many of which will be disclosed over time.
Staff and Media - [We Are Here] - This stage is focused on assembling a small group of players who are interested in helping to develop the media and organizational structure of the mission planning committee. This may also   involve creating a website for the organization, and promotional material for youtube, etc. Mission Planning Committee - This stage is focused on producing well-written documentation on the plans for the mission. This stage will involve creating a command structure for the vessel, as well as procedures for handling threats both off and on the vessel. Much of this work may involve creating templates and other written material for later use in the mission. Crew Guidelines  Logistics [To Be Disclosed] [i will continue to update this post over time as the outline for the project evolves and becomes more complete.]

It goes without saying that an interest in this project would have to involve an interest in Roleplaying, as there will likely be a large emphasis on that during the duration of the journeys. This is not a mission to take on lightly, it’s going to require a lot of dedication and time put in, but I am positive that when we return home from our journey that we’re going to have a story to tell that no one will ever come close to. That’s of course, if we can pull it off successfully.

We’re looking for people who can do the following, but not limited to:
Programming Freight Logistics Construction Logistics Design Warp Drive Maintenance Security Crew Navigations Crew Science Crew Ship Counselor(s) Engineering Crew Shuttle Maintenance Crew Janitorial Crew (yes) Research Crew Bridge Crew Colonists (very important, but extremely difficult role) Heads of Staff
You can be creative with what you want to do, so long as it is not disruptive to the goal of the mission. For example, I want to be the ship chaplain with my character.

This mission is also not limited to players from any single organization. People from any organization are welcome to join, as I expect the formation of this mission to be an inter-alliance agreement as it matures.

I am asking any interested parties to message me directly on Discord before applying to join the Tempest community.

When you go to create an organisation the website warns you that all the organisations will end up in the game - I'd wager that they're going to use something like that down the line.

Noooooo. The whole point in giving them the vague name of "organisation" (as opposed to company, guild, corporation or nation) is that they can be anything we want them to be. Want to be a mining company? Fine. A religious order that worships the idea of blasting out into the unknown to discover as much as possible? Fine. A group to set up monthly gatherings of the 3D mega-chess game you've created in secret in a building somewhere in Alioth's megacity? Fine. Creating abilities for organisations just limits their purposes and further shoehorns people into making them synonymous with "company" or "government".

On the community site, we should have the ability to make orgs that are members of orgs. Numbers of members is calculated by adding up the total number of members of each org.
To my knowledge this will be possible in game and then we could more accurately represent larger organizations. For instance, Cinderfall Syndicate would include all cinderfall organizations and staff, rather than relying on players to join multiple orgs, they are automatically added to the count of both when they join a cinderfall organization.

I assume that by "warp bridge" you mean a device that functions like a stargate. If that is the case, then that faction will just have to build another stargate. If they are unable to, I suppose they can either request help from the other side, or begin the long journey home. Of course, they could always just kill themselves and respawn back at the nearest Resurrection Node, but I'd use that as a last resort.
