It has been said that drones wont be possible. A pilot will always be needed.

I hope however that this is just for having a ship run itself. I hope at least dumbfire missiles like this are possible and ideally ICBM type guided missiles.

Dont pledge alpha expecting to play the game like most early access allow. It is ment for bug tracking and troubleshooting.
The begining of alpha will be a lot of specific test on certain parts of the game. It likely wont seem much like a playable game until late alpha. And remember, even in beta everything is expected to be wiped. But thats where youll beable to actually play the game

Well that would be nice. But what cpuld they do? The ARK, native creatures and plants? Everything else is player built.

What he wants, and I think would be cool, is to export and print your personal constructs. That cool fighter you made or your personal battlecruiser that no ome else.
Sure DU may pull a popular ship or the first player stargate, but there will be millions of player constructs. You can expect hundreds if not thousands of designs to be popular amoungst alliances.

You are so far off on what that equation means.
Ignoring the fact that its simplified, it has nothing to do with the speed the object is traveling. C is the universal constant in this case. If C was different, E is changed.
In simple, regardless of the constant C, the amount of energy it contains is a factor of its mass alone. Infact as you accelerate an object some of the energy goes into increasig its mass, which is why you can never get to C.
There is nothing about you turning into energy because you reach C, just that only energy (something without mass) can reach C.

Hey thats part of the game. Covering you in dirt vs in a cell, whats the difference.

You clearly havent played eve or ark. Suicide and move on.

I will likely setup streaming or at least post videos of Alpha game play once allowed. I haven't done it before, but I do get annoyed with lacking or outright misinformation from early access/alpha games. So maybe I will  correct that by streaming DU.

However, while it has been said they will allow streaming/youtubeing in alpha, it is not clear at what stage. The comment Mefsh posted came from NQ in response to issues regarding ATV, not the Alpha Team as a whole.    I suspect streaming will be allowed during the later stages of alpha when servers are up full time for general game play.

If I am misinformed about this then please link sources to correct me rather than just say I am wrong. Afterall, I am not all knowing and theres info I miss. Here is what I have on it, suggestive they will be implimenting it sure. But in no way a confirmation.

As for the discord, I am on it when home, but no one else tends to be on when I am.

Tensile and compressive strength have nothing to do with volume, but are a function of crosssectional area, hence them having the units psi and their equivalent. a taller concrete cylinder cant hold more weight, nor can a longer cable lift more despite having additional volume. However a wider column or a thicker cable can.

I am not arguing that wood be the best material in game. Just that it should be feasable and that someone plans to make one just as a joke. Now this is all assuming things like tensile strength will even be implimented into constructs. But any material that can build a structure such as a home or buding on earth, could be used as a space ship in terms of structure. Obviously if youre getting 10k Gs acceleration it wont hold up, but neither will the crew.

Once you break a planets gravity well forces on a ship can be brought to a minimum, even with several Gs of acceleration. If designed right termites are more a concern than youre own thrusters. You would design for it, things like 10 small over 1 large to disperse the force over the frame. And sure I cpuld build my titanium or trinium hull ship with 1/10the mass in structure that can handle 10x the forces. But would you rather be flying that, or a replica of the original Enterprise (a wooden ocean ship) through space going where no man has gone before?

A wooden ship you say? Someone has already accepted this challenge in another thread. If it can be done in game, someone wilm do it.

It is almost a gaurentee that different materials will have different stats such as weight and health. I dont recall any exact statement of such, but if there wasnt, why not build the structure out of dirt.
In ome of the last 2 dev diaries we can see him crafting steel feom iron and coal, I dont recall if there were stats showing.

As for how valuable each is, Im sure rarity will have an impact, but demand will be the largest driver.
    Heres an example.
Lets say iron is used in everything, but its also everywhere so prices stay low.
Trinium is rare, but not used much in components, people use it because its light weight keeping demand, thus prices, high.
Diamonds are really rare, but have no real use except decrotive. So while costly, prices may be low for a rare resource.
Titanium is another fairly common element, but not as common as iron. However it is used in all components including weapons and engines, regardless of tech level. This drives a huge demand for it and drives the cost to that or tritiums.

This is a made up example but you can see how in a player driven market, rarety wont be the only cost factor. You can see it in eve, some minerals are harder to come by, but since demand isnt high, prices stay lower.

As for collisions and piercing, it had not been decided how that will work in DU. It could be as simple as bumping with no damage, having only weapons destroy constructs. Or maybe damage is delt to the ships overall HP based on material strength of each ship. It has not been stated yet. But what is almost certain, due to system resources it takes, you wont see Space Engineers style collisions.

Your specs arent to far off from mine. My computer was high end 5 years ago with a slight update last year.
I can run most games pretty good, so long as Im not running multiple videos and games on the 5 monitors.

I was going to be building a new comp last year, but I held off. I plan to see how it performs the Alpha game to get an idea of what I will really need. And at the end of this year build a computer that can handle it. And in reality, even alpha wont be the best indicator for spec requirements. It wont be until beta that we have a good idea of that.

Does anyone know how many threads Unigine can support? I would assume DU will open it to however many threads your computer can support so long as the engine an handle it.

Im sure someone will have the link at the ready, but if I recall each hexagon is about 1km diameter.     Specs on what the planet were given and that 120km is about right.   The Ark protection zone alone is 20km.

I'm with you on the annoyance of cash shops. And you forgot to mention people who pay $100 for football tickets every week and hundreds more getting wasted but it's absurd you spend $15 a month on games (got that a lot in college)

I have to say, while I don't mind an upfront cost (technically Eve cost $5) I am against expansions that you have to buy like WOW. You can't have it where some players are limited in what they can do in a persistent universe, everyone should be on equal footing. Saying you can't level beyond 60 without this expansion isnt much different than a P2W system. I like Eve's model, one consistent universe for all. You pay for the expansion with your subscription

The more subscribers and views they have the more likely it will get shown to new people. Which we need as many people to see DU and the Kick starter as possible right now.

Hopefully the media package will release soon to post on forumns

True, and theres some that wont care about the game at all but get joy out of ruining other peoples play.

NQ will have to see which aspects of the game are most desired and utilized, and improve and expand those as a priority.

That is why I like the P2P model, if NQ fails to do that subs will drop hurting the company. It keeps them looking at what the community would like. And if thats voxels smaller then 25cm so be it, Id like that too. But I want to see a functional game first to prove it can work and get a source of steady funding for them to keep developing.

The point is exactly what you said. They are all in 1 place. Right now I can go to landmark to play with detailed voxels, space engineers or starmade to make spaceships, eve for a continuious play universe, but I have to do the seperatly. DU is giving us 1 game with them combined, plus more. You cant expect them to improve a single technology, while alao tying in a few more.

And DU isnt comming up with the single shard idea, what they are doing is combining single shard and single instance using their network algorithm.

Also you are assuming they arent doing it better. We havent even played the game yet, 25cm voxel limit doesnt mean better or worse. Remember you arent just building, but also flying these voxels. Let them get the game working, then theres time to add in smaller voxels later. Theres no point in going to a 1cm voxel if theres no game.
