Shores of Hazeron use to be free, and it allows most things DU aims for, without the voxels, but if you're lucky you may be able to get a free friend code for a month of someone in the game.

I fully understand what you're saying, thank you.   I was naively thinking that the key was, in fact, the same as the  3rd package and granted me access to the game once per week.  Since that's not the case i will just wait to a released date is announced for the beta and ill buy my key the real way   Keep up the great work guys and shove this project Down CIG's throat lol

Screw EVE TOS am done playing that game and as for NQ they have nothing to do with how i get my beta key. if  a backer decided to gift me a key then there is no rules being broken.

Trolls, griefers and tears/salt miners are generally just lone players with nothing better to do.. Best remedy is to approach them lighthearted or ignore them.. The latter will in fact 'hurt' them more as hey are after your response/comments in local.. Ignore them and they go away quickly..

Griefers are best handled by beating  them at their own game.. When you run event sites in Highsec in EVE and someone comes in to steal the loot, lock them up and shoot them with fireworks.. Several things can and will happen, including them mistaken it for aggression and shoot back, only to get concorded (great show when that happens, usually reverse tears..) or they may get he joke and play along 'OK OK.. I give up here is the loot' ..  Both have happened to me and it is just in good fun mostly..

Trolls will always be around and are best just left alone and ignored.. all they want is attention so don't give it to them..

AS Lethys and IndiVestor pointed out already, this is a team game. Socialise, fraternise and be the best possible friend and the worst possible enemy.

Anyone who sees EVE and thinks "full of griefers", are people who never socialised in EVE, cause in EVE if you play solo, it's you against the entire server.

The REAL problem with EVE, is the Killmail mentality of "look how many Orcas and Skiffs I've blown up". NQ just needs to get rid of those things for players. A killboard will only encourage bad PvP,.

EVE's problem is not the griefers, it's the fact only 1 out of 5 massive engagements in fleet ops is actually awesome. 4 out of 5 is you beating on smaller forces or a Rorrqual. And the Killmails are the catalyst of said problem.

It's just semantics; in the end it always meant a single playing field, but every cubic kilometer represents a virtual server, as the density of players increase the virtual servers decrease in size, maintaining the same load on each server.

The issue will always be latency. I'm interested in how NQ will approach this problem.

I'll tell you one thing I admire about flat earth cultists, it is their tenacity in how they address some of the questions regarding how their theories are rational which are quite thought provoking.

That doesn't mean they are correct however.

Do you guys think devs should interfere with certain things like offensive symbols build by voxels and such? For example someone builds a swastika on their base or ship, someone else reports it and devs removes it.

Personally i think the game should be 100% free from censorship and rules about things like building potentially offensive structures ,etc.
If people are against it enough they should deal with it on their own. For example gather up and raid the "offenders" base or whatever. The in game 'rules' should be made and enforced by the players in my opinion.

What do the rest of you think? Discuss!

OnePercent got a reaction from Scruggs in Urbanization won't be a thing in DU?
Modern Cities are built around the exploitation of Private Cars, It's why cities in the USA are unnecessarily large and population density is low. It makes a lot of problems, One being that people are forced into a lifestyle of owning cars to be able to live happily. Public transport also suffers etc.

In DU however, I wouldn't be surprised if cities are very dense, Because of the readily available use of space ships and easy access to energy exploitation, Most of the efforts of a city would be to design around the concept of Arcology Construction

A single large, monolithic Construction for the purpose of housing peoples in the many hundreds of millions, In essence, the building behaves sort of like a Central Processing chip, Where you have inputs of raw materials and goods that may be required and an Output of Export materials depending on the Skill set of the population and the careers players might choose to specialize in.

Arcology Construction is extremely Efficient in the amount of room taken, compared to the amount of commute time needed. Rather than needing to travel 1 and 1/2 hours to your work, just take an elevator down to the industrial complex, or IT department.

Or at least that's the philosophy an industrially minded person like me would chose to design cities.
