Funny part, that whole this issue is already resovled for all parties (Blaze even admitted, that he gone overboard with this and apologized). I was little bit overjuiced with mortal sins too, yet humbly admitted it too. Other participants were relativly chill.

It seems to me our guy just jumped on stage for some posing time in brand new shining armor. Defender of weak, punisher of shitdoers. Yet kinda rolled 1 on d20.

The word "toxicity" is very often abused in this day and age to silence any and all difference in opinion. No doubt a product of the terrible overly "politically correct" culture that has infested every aspect of media and social networks. I am politically incorrect to the core and will always be. People that in your opinion are "toxic" and "salty" have the right to be so if they so wish. And in my experience most of the "toxic" arguments come precisely from people who actually love the game and would want it to succeed, but are repeatedly let down by irrational decisions on the part of the developers or a complete disregard of any and all suggestions and constructive criticism which could in fact help bring the game to the right track.

Ok, I wanted to alopogize too for my exessive detective-tin-foil-cap issues and fury.

And do a bit of clarification.

I contacted Philipp (author of publication in question) and he was kind enough to provide me with some additional comments.

    1) He confirmed, that wrote this article on his own initiative, without contact/premediation with NQ (borrowing some official NQ media images to illustrate it).
    2) Acticle based solely on his personal/buddies group gameplay experience (several hundred hours).
    3) Most important part. Philipp explained, that arcticle, by his idea (and nature of his media), made for more broad and casual (external) audience, so he adapted info and presentation for them. While we, being more hardcore players can have different perception on game mechanics (0.23 patch) and priorities.

Personaly I strongly disagree with such approch to coverage, but still its great, that Philipp bothered with reply.

As the "guilty party" in this matter I guess an apology is in order, yes. To be frank it's something I was afraid might happen due to my frustrations with the way NQ is handling the game as a whole. Many times I have removed posts/response before clicking send, this time one got away from me. I stand by my feeling on the matter but yes, the link was to much I can agree.

To be honest part of me moving away from the game is that it's starting to bring out frustration I'd rather not see. So yeah.. it's time to move on, at least for now.. It's clear to me NQ is firmly convinced they are making the right calls and choices and nothing will change that so for me all I can do is hope I'm wrong and that the game will still be here when it's time to get back to it.

Its actualy not first time DU marketing likely cheating.

Initialy I noticed this during Alpha with Twitter (and tried make some noise), yet this was quickly dusted under carpet.

Remember another false advert trailer "This is Dual Universe" (no its not) released on 29 april 2020? One week before it, DU Twitter (for most part dead thing as you can see) was obviously pumped up with some non-organic paid followers.

Currently, DU Twitter (being still dead and badly/non creativly managed) loosing subs organicly:
    https://socialblade.com/twitter/user/dualuniverse/monthly

But, if pattern still here, we can even accuratly predict new trailers/big news/things to be released week or so before, when some magical pumping occurs again.

Question is if this is known to JC, or this more of spec ops to give boss nicer reports.

Frankly speaking: whats the problem? Thats how it works today. The Problems I have, especially as EU-Citizen, is how its handled. Influencer have to tag their stuff as ad when they get paid for, even if its  not money, and even if they are not paid for it but hope to get paid someday etc... You can see a lot of trials in the past 2 years here in Germany.

The Thing that concerns me on the marketing side is that it looks like this is the only channel they use, and from other companies we know that it does not work out that well if you fokus on people who wants to build up their community with your product and you dont have people with a community promoting yours. However, this is a magazine, not a streamer or influencer, I expect professional standards for journalism, even if the magazine as such is driven by "experts", the quality so far on other games is good. Reading something like that was a real surprise for me.

So far, I dont feel valued as a customer, or even informed, through those channels. And for me it does not matter if Articles like these are paid/Arranged by NQ or not: It just feels like someone is joking on me and other people by telling them BS. This is bad Journalism first, and maybe bad marcom as well, but still, this is a magazine, this is a german publisher, we are not used to stuff like that anymore (it was common last century (and yes, I already lived last century, and I/my former copany even have some sort of history (insides, articles) with that publisher), and it hurts the game, NQ and the magazine.

le_souriceau reacted to Dupont in The relationship between UI, world depth, and quality of life
As I was scouring the internet to see what essential element DU is missing, I ran across Valheim.  Wow, it is so much fun. Then I started thinking why?

I believe the answer to fun is the ratio of simplicity of use vs. the depth of the world itself.

Now, that definitely doesn't mean that a game should be simple, no not at all. What I found was that for everything that you do, every decision you have to make, every task.. the world gives back much more.

When the behavior of the world around you is novel, interesting, and most of all surprising, it gets fun. This requires AI, which for some reason JC stays away from. If it can't be in animals, then at least have it in non-living things. For example, in Valheim when you chop down a tree it can fall on you and injure or kill you if you don't get out of the way. Also if you build a campfire inside your home without ventilation, you get smoked out and take smoke inhalation damage.  Now, that's depth.

Depth is when your choices have implications and consequences. The world reacts to you in some way to acknowledge your existence.

Depth for mining? - pollution,  depth for schematics? - research to tweak stats.  Depth to overbuilding? - collapse of structures.

Quality of life:  Good quality of life is when things go smooth with the mechanics of the game towards your goals. Poor quality of life is dealing with irrelevant roadblocks over and over again. I am not talking about in-game challenges but rather like trying to read a book when the person next to you is farting. Its distracting and takes away from the experience.

_______       UI complexity        World Behavioral Depth         Quality of Life
    DU                    high                            low                                           low
    Valheim           low                             high                                         high

I really like DU and probably have spent thousands of hours on it. I sure hope they can right the ship. As I was writing this, my computer restarted on its own. This tends to happen within 10 minutes of logging out of DU.  So now I have to fully shut down the computer after a DU session to clear it (every time). I  upgraded my graphics drivers, etc.

Example of quality of life that's not so great. I don't think I will log in anymore for a while until that is fixed at least.

I commented on Bludrakes Video, but my comment kept getting deleted ... because I pointed out that NQ had also offered me a partnership, but I refused, because as I wrote in the comment, "then I would have to post videos like this one which reads more like a press release from the developer" ... and remarked that if they want a politically incorrect review which is actually objective they should check my review

Anyway, I don't know if my comment is still there.

But his video was absolutely embarrassing.

On the other hand - this might be the reason why he has thousands and thousands of subscribers and much more revenue, while I am a poor YT bastard ...

The article is misleading at best, outright paid-for-by-NQ propaganda at worst. Shit like this need to be called out and stamped on with prejudice if you care at all about the issues being dealt with in the "news" article.

So many problems in the last four of five years have been caused directly because of misinformation and complete bollocks being passed as facts. Spurious claims about things which are not true and things that did not actually happen passed as having actually happened have made the news these last few years seem like a bit of a sad joke and it is becoming accepted by certain cap-wearers as truth.

I made another post a few days ago where someone on the forums was basically using hyperbole and claimed that DU actually BRICKED his computer... Bricked means damaged beyond the ability of the end user to repair (requiring an RMA)... Stuff like this spreads in today's zero-neurons-fired post-truth world, because people are just happy to sit back, shrug and get on with their life... Until a few months/years down the line when the things they love and like are gone and they themselves become the target of the hyperbole...

Truth is the only thing of universal value to all humans and alternative facts are just lies dressed up in a long red tie.
Calling this out is the right thing to do.

I wouldn't be against that if it was done properly... This is called curated content and can be a valuable addition... but I suppose, morally, it should be pointed out for being sponsored content...

    https://www.buffed.de/Dual-Universe-Spiel-57410/Specials/6-Monate-Beta-1366842/

    ^^ source article

Buffed.de, mostly known for WOW articles, has written a few pieces on DU before, and have been mostly positive. However, I and a few friends saw a part in a translated version of this article that stated something that could bring a set of attention to DU that is not needed at this time, that is until NQ fix their game.

1st section: "the world comes alive":

"Although the rush was already high at the beginning of the beta phase, more and more players were added over time and slowly but surely filled the world of Dual Universe. That had several positive effects on the game. For one thing, the world feels much more alive now. We no longer only encounter strange players in the central marketplaces of Alioth, the largest of the planets, but everywhere in the universe. Even the tiny moons of smaller planets on the edge of the solar system are now well populated."

keep in mind this was written on 02/13/2021, and right now that 3rd sentence cannot be any more wrong, alioth is a ghost town, madis and thades are abandoned, and any other planet besides maybe ion and lacobus have basically no inhabitants. That is all because of .23 and the major screw up NQ had. i might be blowing it out of proportion, but you get the jist'.

2nd section: "Large organizations have grown":

"But it's not just the individual players that make the world come alive. Giant organizations have been set up and grown over the months. Huge factories that produce spaceships on an assembly line and are operated by dozens of players are not uncommon. Huge freight transporters fly from moon to moon with a crew of several men, buy cheap resources there and deliver them to the many thousands of players who have established their home on Alioth. There is organized trade, a flourishing industry, and the first political intrigues between the largest of the organizations."

"giant organizations"... what, like 100-200 active players making up 5 different major orgs? compared to the 30K ish+ we had since launch in total? (in reference to sanc moon tiles), if you go to any market in the game, even the district markets on alioth, they are all dead, no one visits them anymore.

3rd section: "Schematics ensure more trade"

"The schematics in particular are responsible for the flourishing of trade. In the alpha and at the beginning of the beta, everyone was still able to produce everything, provided they had the resources and had the appropriate industrial equipment built beforehand, is no longer possible. More complex modules, which you cannot manufacture in your personal nanocrafter, but only in industrial plants, now require a so-called schematic. This is practically a set of instructions that you can use to explain to your industrial plant which module is manufactured and how. Without a schematic, even the most sophisticated production line is just a pile of scrap metal. You can get the schematics on the marketplaces for a chunk of the in-game currency Quantas. The more complex the module, the more expensive the schematic. You also need a separate schematic for each system. Anyone who wants to manufacture silicon from quartz in ten melting systems not only needs ten systems, but also ten schematics - which can quickly turn into money in large factories."

Excuse me, what? Anyone who has played the game most likely quit over schematics, or permanent destruction. why? schematics are 1. expensive, 2. tedious to setup, and 3. has almost entirely killed production of any goods not tier one. when schematics came out, a 7m item (anti-gravity generator S) had a schematic required to build it worth hundreds of millions, now that schematic is worth 76m as of the time of writing this, 10x the items worth is fair, ok, but the way they implemented them was ridiculous.

you can read more on the article and see for yourself, but here is something i noticed, none of that was labeled as opinion...

i have the feeling this was a commissioned article by NQ to Buffed.de, if it was, I read someone say that its illegal by German law to publish paid pieces, however i may be incorrect. (correction, if the article is noty labeled as a sponsored article and its found out to be then it is illegal, no where on the article does it mention sponsorship)

regardless of the legality, NQ needs to come clean because if this was paid that is scummy, make me feel like this game was a cash grab.
NQ I'm begging you, come clean and stop hiding that your game is dying, you still have a chance to dig out of the hole you made, please!

Key is not in characters, but in players -- they need to have motivations to be specialized not as character, but as players, with them finding their long-lasting gameplay niche, activities and ambitions they are gunuinly want to do. This something DU quite fails to provide right now for big chunk of population.

Not sure why they are not looking to City Building systems that worked like SWG. A city leveled up and had facilities and function that did not exist outside a city. This could be implemented via TCUs. I think this is a fundamental flaw in their approach to making a "Civilization Building" MMO with zero city building features.
