The same algorithm that works for identifying photos can be used to identify a voxel construct.

If you copy a shape that is already registered as owned by a person in the game - like a whole ship - you will trigger the alert. How NQ wants to proceed with that, depends to be seen.

In Landamrk, if you copied the voxel construct of another person and tried to resell it, you would send much of your income on the Blueprint to that person you copied.

So, if a person figures out the "best" ship shape, people will pay them for the "patent". However, NQ should put a "patent fee" for keeping this going, so if a person leaves the game with a huge patent, they don't end up being a money sink.

As the CEO of a ship producing corp, I had some ideas about this as well. A reverse engineered ship will never meet the quality of an original design, but you could sell it cheaper. At this point we pretty much know that communication between ships/stations is possible, so we will most likely see some kind of holonet.
My ships will have a certification, so you can check if your ship is original or faked as soon as you get in range of an antenna.
Also, a ship without its scripts will be useless. So I was wondering if you can make something like an activation via the holonet. Faked scripts are an effort most stealers are not willing to do.

Hello! I am limoriden, the head-counsel member of the the Horizon Institute Of Technological Advancement
     https://community.dualthegame.com/organization/horizon-institue#tab-description

The Horizon Institute Of Technological Advancement Is a group dedicated to the advancement of technology throughout the universe, We try to encourage research in every subject. Research Projects done by the institute are loosely supervised, we monitor the projects to make sure they do not get out of hand, besides that, you are free to do what you like. While Horizon does focus in scientific research, we also require a Security detail/corps to protect assets and scientists within the institute. And then there is the head counsel, Horizon will be controlled by 5 people, a decision can only be reached when the majority have the vote, We will make the dealings, hand out payments, and hire the workers.

    Research Corps
The research corps is the main sector within The Institute, they focus on projects of their own. the only thing is though, when someone finishes a project they must turn it into the Horizon Counsel, they will review it and give the approval for the project. As long as your project isn't hurting people, illegal...ish, or killing people, your project will always be accepted,

    Security Corps
They defend the area were the scientists work, since we will most likely be in a city, we do not need a full on military, the security corpse will defend the lab with the scientists if we become under attack. Security corpse will be payed the same as scientists, price is negotiable.
Thank you for reading and considering, and always, Look Towards the Horizon.       (This group was inspired by The Institute From Fallout 4)

    A) Voxels have HP. You can't expect a Titanium Voxel and Wooden Voxel to have the same HP. Look up the GDC video, it's in there, JC said it himself. So please, stop dreaming of making an iron shit-ship that will go up against a Titanium ship.

The system I suggest takes all the Voxel HP on the ship and combines it into one single HP Bar for collisions. Bar reaches zero, ship expldoes (capacitors, fuel tanks, reactors overlaod, etcetera).

    C) Do you even understand my suggestion is about NO VOXEL DEFORMATION. Where the ships collides does not matter, you won't PUNCTURE anyone's ship with a beak-like trollpedo boat. This system guarantees this.

    D) Collision in the model I suggested, is the same model used by ANYONE and their mother in any game other than Space Engineers, means you got a limtied Delta of acceleration. You can't go past that.

You can't brake from 200 m/s to 0 m/s in 1 second without suffering a 22 G decceleration and you can't go from 0 to 200 m/s in 1 second without sufferign a 22 G accelreation. In both cases ,if your ship can only take 2 Gs of accelaratio, means you exceeded your ship's G tolerance by 11 times  = your ship explodes. What you can't push your mind away from is Space Engineers.THIS IS NOT ABOUT VOXEL DEFORMATION. This si about ships having G tolerance and taking "Fall damage" if they exceed it.

So please mate, quit your bullshit arguements. this system I suggested is used from WoW to even BF1 for falling damage. In fact, in WoW, the "Water-Walking" buff makes you take fall damage if you land on watter. Why? Cause it makes you have as priority to detect the water's mesh model. So, no, get your mind out of the Space Engineers model. I am not talking about destroying voxels on Collision. It's about a constrtcut having a total Falling Damage HP bar.

And yes, destroying part of the ship reduces that falling damage HP, so if you had a ship that has 50% of its voxels missing after being shot a lot in a battle, it has 50% less Falling Damage HP.

In this model I suggested, shields are a buffer for collision, they got their own "HP" so they can act as a layer before you take structure damage.

If a ship can block kinetic projectiles it sure as shit can mitigate a collision.

And the arguement "but what if they pummel your shields down with smaller ships?". No they won't. If your ship's shields have more HP than their ships shields + hull HP, then THEY will take damage on each collision. But hey, most people in here don't even know math, let alone what the Third Law of Motion is.

I'd pay a good builder for building a good looking ship. I'd pay a good scout to scout ahead for me with a hauler. The pilot s should have somethign else to worry other than "put ship in orbit and go afk". G tolerance on a ship would be a good addition. And even if "Space debir" is an issue - as tanything not "belonging" to a planet or a construct belongs to the "solar system" core unit - the alternative is to concentrate space debri into asteroid belts and thus recycle tiny pieces of debri into materials in an asteroid belt.

Problem is that's not how economics work.

Bring on all the EVE hate, thing is, the Buy-Back Programs from EVE were born to support Jared's idea - even if many alliances don't use Loyalty Point software (which is DKP for space nerds ).

In EVE, we have the Buy-Back Programs, which are in essence :

    1) Player A of my corporation or alliance, wants to buy stuff with an internal contract. They want to get 100000 units of Ice.

    2) Player A sets up a Contract for the corporation or alliance and t hey put the price at 90% of the market price of ice.

    3) Player B goes into the market, with 100000 units of Ice and delivers the contract

You may ask "why would they sell at 90% of the market price? LOL, is player B a moron? Why do that?"

    Cause :

    1) Contracts are not subject to taxes, only tariffs (look up the difference). I won't even explain this further, anyone with any basic concept of math understands.

    2) Player B makes a profit, as they don't have to haul cargo to a far distant market and VERY POSSIBLY, being robbed and lose their cargo ship.

    3) cause contracts can work on Exchange of items. Yes, barter, you know, "you give me 100000 units of Ice and I give you 1000 Units of Gold". That's that, bartering. You exchange your mineral wealth for someone else's. Weird, right?

So yeah, people who base their whole game logic around "makin' dat Q-Dough yo" need a hard lesson of macroeconomics.

My understanding was that we want a container that can automatically count "points" to a "points counter" somewhere, and make it so you can only withdraw items depending on how many "points" you have.

From my understanding the normal functionality of the containers wouldn't be set up for that without implementing a script.

EX: Script designates the following values
    Diamond = 20 points
    Copper = 3 points
    Iron = 1 Point

Lets say I have 0 points with my organization, but our storage has a Diamond in it and I want it.
However I have 5 Copper and 10 Iron
If I deposit my 5 Copper into storage, I gain 15 points (5x3)
    I deposit my 10 Iron into storage, I gain 10 points (1x10)

Now the container will let me take the diamond, reducing my points by 20, leaving me with 5 points left to spend later.

Nobody knows, I just proposed an ideabased on their Actor based programming (everything being math based).

The idea to treat the entire ship's strcture as on e mass. Cast-steel armor for tanks, is not the same as plated armor. Plates move, plates bounce. Cast-steel abosrbs the whole impact in its whoel body. On a Neeton to Volume ratio, a spaceship made out of Cast-Aloy would be able to absorb the shockwave of minor impact - up to a point of their Pascal threshold ( G / m3 ), which is what Ultimate Tensile Strength is, Pressure limit. This can be explaiend by the way the nanoformer works in the lore. Not creating plates of armor, but mollecularly fusing a ship's didfferent alloys to share their tensile strength as one.

I'd suggest lookingup the french tanks in WW2 for more info. If you think Panzers were tough, look at the french tanks and how the Panzers'' main cannon could not evne hurt their cast-steel armor. It rung like a bell after each hit, but Panzers could NOT break it, cause their shots had not enough power behind them.

It's not perfect, but it makes pilots who know how to fly better and punishes people who want to "No Man's Sky" land a ship regret it.

Latest DevDiary shows that entering a planet i nthe wrong angle causes ship damage - as NQ confirmed it. We can only hope they won't chicken out and will add something like this model.

I think an organized city structure is going to work, I think it's more likely to occur on other worlds besides Alioth in any case, or at least on Alioth but not near the Arkship. Every single new player will be starting in the same place; that place is prime real estate. People will want to make their section of that area near spawn be impressive and noticable. The area around the Arkship will be something closer to competition, not a cooperative effort, at least I think.

It seems you're focusing more on the Arkship area, but I feel that if what you're trying to put into practice is going to work, which it certainly can to some extent, it's going to work best at some distance from the Arkship. You've put good work and thought into this, that's awesome and I am impressed; consider lots of different contingencies.

"How the heck can you ever control an entire planet", you ask? With tons and tons of work and teamwork. Which is how it should be. One man cannot control a whole planet; 10, or 100 people cannot control a whole planet. You would need a huge group and team effort to do so, which I personally feel is exactly how it should be, and I'm sure many others would agree.

I'm not sure what you mean by the second point. You only need one territory unit to control that section of territory, so with tons of planets it gives the opportunity potentially for that lone wolf to own and control their own little section of the universe. After all, the objective of the game isn't to control land, this isn't the middle ages.

Pretty self explanatory. Instead of having death be finite, let avatars who got hurt by certain type of weaponry be icnapacited and possible to be revived and / or reviving after a certain point on their own via "futurespace medicine" CPR.

    It should be noted :

1 ) this is to enable duels or arena matches that don't end with a person dying and losing all their stuff. A simple RDSM tag for the arena to enable "incapacitations"  but not "killing", would do the trick in this case.

2 ) non-lethal weaponry, for people who like to rob people , but don't like causing a person to lose their gear or what not.

3 ) poeple say I can't go without a post without mentioning something from EVE that's cool - and I will oblige - so here it is, Nosferatu weaponry, AKA, drain a person's energy. And since DU avatars are more or less cyborgs  - yeah, that nnonformer arm is definitely not part of Human Standard Edition - an avatar could have capacitors on them you can drain so you can render them incapacitated -  which would need a "healer" to come in and "jump cable you" - you know, the same thing EMTs do with a defibrilator, only not as harrowing of an experience.

4 ) if an avatar dies in a ship explosion or by being hit by a 1 TNT Ton rocket, you can bet they won't leave a mollecule behind, let alone a body to revive. No, that's not Shepard past the Mass Effect 2 opening, WAKE UP SHEEPLE :V

FAQs incoming - I can see the future.

Just want to have alternatives to murder. Like a bounty hunter bringing a person in as "alive" - with the bounty unable to "/scuicide if they decide to come in alive and be "judged" by the Intergalactic Turbonerd Tribunal. And if a person can make for a good "arena bloodsport" and the hunted has implants they risk losign upon death, you can bet some of them would choose fighting for their freedom than actually losing their gear in a 1vs10 fight.

Yes, Chronicles of Elyria. I don't hold EVE on a pedestal, I actually like other games as well.

Maybe the ability for Player Police to incapacitate someone who's intentionally blocking the entrace to a place - if the game has avtar to avatar collision and it's not ghosting / cheating the terrain and / or players involved.

I don't joke about my functioning alcoholism.

Apparently, people don't know the opposite of energy, is entropy.

Cause obviously, using a magical arm that can conjure shapes is definitely something in the feasible spectrum of possibilities, but using entropy to drain a person's capacitors they have in their body cause they are cyborgs? Nah.

    Cheers.

P.S. : Bring in the love.
