    This is annoying if true.

If I had any Intel Hardware, I would make a video to verify.

You guess wrong, i researched it many years ago.
Thank you for the toxicity and the unconstructive commitment to the thread.
    I was a `PC expert` by 1994 and began in 1986 but i haven't owned an intel since the 486.
I would humour you and explain the thought process behind, is it a problem with multitasking but i don't respect you enough to try.
It may be a function that DU utilises in the Intel coreset that AMD doesn't have, who knows.. not me.

    Hey Vhae
yeah me too.. i was always annoyed and have had to stick to triscanner ships but learnt a few days ago that my friend with his M core that launches pods.. can launch way more than 3 and have a complete scan.
I would like to build a pod ship please

2500 scans with a triscanner took a long time

Ryzen user here on both my main rig and my laptop. I have experienced the same behavior. I just thought it was how the game works. I never thought it had anything to do with my hardware.

I honestly thought it might be the container link distance or something.

It is extremely simple. This is a mechanic that incentives players to buy more subs.

Such practices make the game by definition pay to win. If they wanted calibration charges to be in the game, there should be a way that you earn them by playing the game. This should be done in such a way that it is just as beneficial to have one account as it is to have unlimited accounts. The bottleneck should be how much effort you as a human can feasibly output into a play session, not how many accounts your disposable income can handle.

There is an infinite number of ways they could have changed mining so that there are fewer holes in the world. They chose to change it in a way that makes paying for more subs and attractive option. That is a problem for me as someone who does not like p2w and did not support DU in the Kickstarter thinking they were buying into a pay to win game.

My biggest fear was that this would be a chore. I hate chores. Mining was something I wanted to do.

When I was broke, I could take things into my hand and go mine. Now I have to babysit this system and plan ahead. I hate it.

If I wanted to babysit and waste all of my free time just to maybe have something cool to look at in the end, I would invest in a salt water fish tank. At least with a salt water fish tank visitors to the house would be impressed... No one likes it when they come over, and I try to show them the ships on my computer...

I am pretty sure the idea behind extra beta keys was for us to hand them out to friends and family to expand the player base. Not multibox and increase our personal calibration chargers by 10 per key.

They have taken the perfectly serviceable gameplay loop of mining and turned it into a painful pay to win mechanic.

This is disgraceful and needs to be called out.

Yeah.. Imagine being a solo player hitting it big time with the mother load spread over many tiles around you.
Just claiming and maintaining those tiles will be a huge chore for a solo, and all the time you know the moment territory wars is introduced they will likely be lost.

Not really a big incentive for "civilization building" is it?

Well NQ was warned and they never acted on exploids so the time people needed to take action themselves and thus they just used the keys themselves.  BTW, i tried to give my keys to friends but with one look at the forum and develepment path they all declined.
It is very simple, everything you can now do with alts will never be gone, and if you do not pay their accounts later it doesnt matter as their HQ and other stuf remains eternal as stated by NQ in the little letters. So again all the exploids from the past nobody listened to or acted on will in the end probably kill this game. But apparently nobody in NQ cared and by replacing JC and killing all the kickstarter ideas They think they can save DU. Have done some nice mining on alioth according to the way promoted in the kickstarter lately?

500k per hex initially. 1mill per week per hex in taxes?

Monthly... maybe? I still don't like that.

Here is the issue. I love DU. I backed it in the Kickstarter. What I don't love is feeling forced to play a game just to keep my progress.

It is why WOW is failing and FFXIV is winning right now.

FFXIV encourages its players to take breaks. "Go play other games for a month or two. Come back fresh and enjoy your time in this game."-basically Yoshi-p

WOW basically does the opposite, and people are fed up with it. Which is why it is dying.

Logging in every few days to play a mining mini-game is a lot like WOW asking me to daily quests every day just to have access to the same type of content I can get in FFXIV at any point in the patch cycle. Other players are realizing that you don't have to bust your ass all the time to enjoy an online game.

I have a full steam library of voxel games. I assure you, if I wanted to build a big spaceship or space station by myself. I could load up StarMade in a heartbeat and have a good time.
In some ways, StarMade is a better voxel game than DU. I know many of you will agree with that. If not maybe you like Space Engineers, StarBase, Emyprion, Stationeers, Starship EVO, or something else more? As players, we have options for building ships and stations.

The service DU provides is that we are all on a single persistent world. That is the one good stand out thing this game does. I built a god-damn Gundam that waked in Starship Evo back when it was called "Skywanderers"... The voxel tech here is cool, but it's not that impressive. I am actually limiting my build potential by playing DU in some ways.

I put up with DU's jank and quirks because of the idea that I don't lose progress when I take breaks. I am good to play a voxel game for two months tops before I need to take a brake for like two to three months. I get burnt out. Same with any other game type. If I lose progress or have to bust my ass to pre-pay my taxes. I just won't.

RECONSIDER THE DAMN TAX RATE. MAYBE MONTLY.

CONSIDER ALLOWING MORE THAN ONE FREE HQ TILE.

I refuse to be in a situation where I am a slave to this game. I still have the old build on Skywanders on a HDD somewhere where you could build mechs. It would be a lot cooler if I had a reason not to just go do that instead.

There are not going to be 10M players ever. The ceiling for this game would be like 500k to 1M tops, "if" the game was good. Last I tried to look, the active population was around 8k and bleeding. I am sure this update did some damage to that number too.

    Yea, i have to agree.

What ever the mechanic that NQ thought about for justifying taxes is not a urgent one.

The taxes should be dynamic in nature with small adjustments every month.

When ever NQ sees the need to raise the taxes, raise them.
But dont start with and absurd value thinking about how it will be needed in 10 years when DU has 10M players.

I have to say Demeter pretty much sucks so far.

After spending eight hours scanning I found one hex that only sucks badly and a bunch of hexes that suck horribly. I grabbed the one that sucks badly, cause I don't have any reason to think I'll find anything better. If the ore market doesn't collapse it might pay it's own taxes. Fun on a scale of 1 to 10: -5 (that's minus 5).

The calibration minigame isn't as much fun as hand mining... by a long shot.

My friend found a hex that could produce 60kl coal per week... under optimal conditions... and said "not bad". (That does suck less than anything I found). He used to mine 600kl in a couple of hours. Slow production 100 fold and what happens? Economic collapse.

    Not optimistic.

Just a friendly heads up and warning that those with alt accounts will repeat the imbalances from mission running their alts, and the economic gap between non-exploiting and exploiting players using alts is just gonna keep growing and probably wrecking the economy. Also don't expect alt account players to lose too many tiles... this will just impact those of us to play on a single account.

Are you ready to be placed at a further disadvantage?

You can lose your shit if you have more than 5 tiles.

    That is the issue.

Not being able to produce on a tile with unpaid taxes seems like a fair enough game mechanic. Losing shit does not seem fair.

I don't know how many "free" tiles is too many, but 5 is too little. Especially if you built stuff before all of this was decided.

The issue is being a SLAVE to the game at a minimum of every 13 weeks. I don't know about you, but being in debt and potentially losing some of my shit every time I take a brake is just not going to make me want to come back to the game.
