The most valuable resources are in pvp space. And, assuming pvp players like to pvp, it is also the only place where pvp players can do that thing they like.

People who want to have some tight pvp action are not drawn by pvp, the whole framework doesn’t really work for good pvp. Instead of adding more and more stuff to pvp space, and making changes for all players to balance pvp even if it harms pve players, maybe it is time for NQ to instead look for more ways to make pve more interesting and work with what DU is already quite good at. Look at games like Stormworks, Airmen, Satisfactory to compliment the who player driven, resource management, ship building, civilisation building thing. Stop trying to shoehorn the whole game into the pvp genre.

And if some percentage of the pve players like pvp, you get more pvp players, too. because the pve players can live without the pvp players.

What is it with you guys and "PvP is too small and only visible at the edges"? PvP is the largest area in the game, so this small safe zone is hardly worth mentioning.
The problem is not the size of the zone, but that there are too few interested PvP players. But that's not the fault of the PvE players.
What prevents PvPers from building up space bases in PvP and then simply defending them? That's right, you could lose them, which is why PvPers also prefer to build in the safe zone....

IMHO this is bs. (cool for new Players yes..)

Whenever NQ takes two steps forward, they take three steps back.

WTF is this and why do you waste human resources for this stupid thing. Instead of the promised player markets (some of which already exist in small form), they are now being punished and marginalized by another glorious NQ development. 64 sellers for the entire community, who decides who gets these places? What do you do when an org sends 100 signups before another player makes it?

So I'm getting an XS Core to sell ships or scripts there, but I can't show or demo them. I can only show nice pictures on 10 screen. What exactly does a store like this do for me? "Buy from me, won't be shit" Thanks, but no thanks. Then I will rather buy up all the slots and make signposts everywhere to the ship shops of the players. Nobody wants your stuff NQ! Player-Driven! Not Developer-Driven! Go away! Oh and "Periodic refreshes of The Exchange" -> And once you've established yourself in the market, you're then just kicked out of there and lose your revenue.... When will the refresh be? Pff ask the Devs! Player-Driven ist just a thing they promised during KS, u will never see it here!

What kind of screw up is that in an MMO?

With this announcement and the announcement of what will be stay after a wipe, it is already certain that there will be a wipe. Can't you just announce it officially?

oh man.... Ive read so many me, me, me, me posts from pvp lovers, its becoming embarassing to me. 85% of this game is PVP zone, but you still want more, up to 99% or even a 100% of all area MUST be pvp. Also the me, me, me, me, with the ores. Like special ore should only be availabe to people who want to pew pew or risk to pew pew. Builders cant make elevators or gates,! I could agree with 1 or 2 pvp planets, so there can be war in gravital air (thats why they could introduce gas-giant planets'') and could have, like 5 times more T5 ore in those zones.
And tell me, if there is no safe-zone, would you build a base, that will take 8 months to complete only to see it destroyed in 2 days by [fill in a name like Legion]?
The list of players that rage-quit because of the loss of 1 m-core while hauling or d/c while trying to land, goes on and on... losing a whole base WILL make people throw important stuff(read: desktops, laptops, deskchairs, keyboards, mouses, coffeecups, headsets) through unopened windows. I can assure you that

As a builder, I was satisfied with the way it was set up after 0.23. I could build and mine whenever and wherever I wanted. Never been into pvp territory in 16 months of playing. The fact that 'Legion had won DU' didnt bother me at all. I would never meet a Legion pvp ship because I do not come into their space. So I wont see their builds unless its on a tube video.

And so, this game was fine as it was: a sandbox building game (with pvp possiblities) and expanding the building part would also benefit the pew pew people.
Because pew pew people also like to build a home base, they also like more cockpits, they also would like to colour their wings and engines on their ships.
This dumb focus on pew pew play is not the thing that needed attention.
I think having a pet would attract more players to come back than the 'pvp-improvements' they have made. They could have introduced pets, that have abilities that boast your character, like boast building speed or adjustor power(being explained as agility). Also let them have talent points also, maybe only develop when you take them with you. Just to display all the pets (read: DU pokémon) would be something people would visit (builders that visit pvp players, wtf???)

Character creation, is something that this game lacked for almost 2 years now, (there is a new update that adresses this, I think)
    just a spacesuit colour,
    in an mmo space game.
Please help me God, at least give us more humanoid races, like having a tail, or a shark's head

But as I was saying in my first post: nq is trying to proof me wrong, let see what will happen

Get lost sucker. I played this game for two years without ever using an exploit or glitch, did'nt buy the cheap schemata or used any other irregular moves for my gain. And there are many, many more who played within the rules and honestly. i may not have billions in cash, but surely billions in assets.

I'm strictly against a wipe and the main reason for this is trust. I will not pay a dime to a company which breaks all her promises.

No. It is not a question of pro or contra wipe. It's about the fact that you infer more from a statement that is not contained in the statement itself. That is a logical mistake.

False implications are a problem in discussions.

After a full wipe any org who still can be bothered to remain active is going to be scanning and mining key planets and dominating asteroids in a couple of days, control alien cores after a week and claim key territories faster then you can say "quanta cash flow funnel".

So ANY perceived fairness or level playground gained from a full wipe is nothing but an illusion, since all it does it make the game harder (and boring) to start for newbs with no existing player infrastructure to discovery and lean on, and easier for large orgs to correct past mistakes and use their experience and numbers to gain dominance.

And all this just so that a few dedicated players get to feel special for a short while (at the expense of people who has been supporting the game for years) until it is back to normal, and new players will be in the exact same position as they are today when joining the game.

It would be very interesting to know how many of the previous players who tried DualUniverse because they were interested in the game really focused on which aspect of the game.
Is it the builders, Lua scripters, industrialists, miners, or the PvP players? Or even kind of a hybrid player who likes to mine ore and do industry or mine ore and do PvP. So what has been the main content of the players so far?
I often read that PvP players only want to shoot around and everything else is just a means to an end. But that is the case with any content. The PvP player must also collect quanta or ores to build or buy ships with which you have a chance to win in PvP at all. An industrialist has to do the same to build industrial plants and schematics. Even the one who builds ships and only sells them has to get his voxel stones and elements from somewhere. So in the end, many contents are connected, you can't just pick a small one. (This is only possible after investing a lot of time in the game).
From there, I think you don't need more PvP areas, because the PvP area is huge, maybe even too big to really meet. (I now assume that the outer planets and moons will eventually lose their safezone).
What PvP needs are players who are really interested in PvP, not players who need to be forced into PvP.
Accordingly, PvP should be made more interesting so that you can attract PvP players into the game and keep them permanently. (without driving PvE players out of the game).
In other games I liked to be a PvP player (WoW, Gw2, Archeage) but here in DualUniverse I prefer to be a builder, industrialist or an explorer.

On the topic itself, it would be fatal to release everything for destruction now when the developers aren't even sure what they really want to take away from players in the end and what should be protected. You should , if you really want to test PvP, make sure that you do not leave the time expenditure so brutally high - who wants to fly into a battle to attack or protect an alien core, please, if you first have to fly 1-3-5 hours AFK through space?

The game has barely enough players to hold Alien cores and a handful try to fight..

You want to ensure this game is dead before it really starts? Then this would certainly have a good chance of achieving that. There is plenty of space for those who want to engage in combat to do so. DU is not a "PVP above all else game", in fact quite the opposite.

If what you suggest would happen it would probably drive away the vast majority of remaining players as a handful of pewpew trigger happy ones will go around destroying whatever they find in their way without reason or recourse.

It's just amazing to me how some will keep trying to force their choice of gameplay, regardless of their choice being perfectly fine, on everyone else.

This game was fine as a sandbox building game, kind of a big empty LEGO world.
Lego builders dont need entertainment or gameplay, they just enjoy builds. Cities skylines players also just like builds, they like to just follow an npc and just look around.
Train-set builders also do nothing but to watch their builds.
I think this game would attract so many builders from every corner around the world, that it would always have enough ingame players, and maybe not too many at once as some would always take a break.

Too bad nq didn't focus on the building/trading part and give us more things to build and trade with.
They gave us a false start with unrealistic sized doors, couches and beds, 3 types of toilets, the most useless empty plantcase and no xs space fueltank. Also crazy core sizes which make no sense to me, why 63(127-255-511) voxels and not 64 (128-256-512)?
Instead of adding more types of wings, doors, cockpits, trees, npc elements (ive made these myself with voxels later on, even made them interactive with detection zones and transparent screens), nq cut down on builders.
There is lua for ships on water, something nq should have implemented themselves. I know for sure people would start digging canals (because of the ugly random generated planet with puddles) and just sail on them for fun. Videos of ingame builds would flood the tube channels.
The builders needed more things to easily make quests so we could make more adventures, to aquire items to open doors in mazes and labyrinths. Now it was only possible in lua.
I think, that players would subscribe just to see the amazing world that has been build by players.

Nq could have focused on building(what this game started with). Expanding the game with the lua-ideas, just like other games implemented mods from the community, and adding elements that have a proper function.
But nq focused on destroying. Pvp, limiting and wiping that is.
And now you are here, a full wipe (so no world) and a few players.

    Pvp bashing by me:
Pvp in this game is the fugliest version of space combat i have ever seen, even space invaders is more dynamic, at least you can dodge in space invaders! Territory warfare in this game would be just as ugly, boring and untactical as spacewar in this game is. You cant hide behind an asteroid, so why would you be able to hide behind a hill?
Pvp in this state kicks out the creativity of building.
Pvp in this game reminds me of those old atari 5600 games, where the box art was nowhere near the ingame screenshots or the gameplay.
Tactics do not exist in this game.

In the end, I am sure that this game had more potential for a sandbox building game, than a pvp game.
But hey, nq is trying to proof me wrong, so ill keep an eye out.

This so much. One of the most important assets a MMO game company has is player loyalty. If they have this, then there is almost no limit to what they can do as long as the players trust that the company will do what is best for the players and the game. But if you flip the coin, and a company has little or no thrust from the player base then the game is almost guaranteed to fail.

We're coming up on 8 weeks since their post..

At this point, maintaining you are discussing this is just silly and merely re-affirms the notion that NQ is stringing us along on this while they full well know that the decision to wipe was made months ago already.

It's funny when people who do not seem to grasp the basics of community management and communication in general fall on their face so hard they really have no comeback but no doubt will try to anyway. More likely though, they will just start and try to silence the voices speaking up in order to pretend it never happened as that is what is pretty much the pattern here.

The post was probably 2 months early and should have been posted around this time as the actual wipe and subsequent headstart period leading up to official "release" is probably 6-8 weeks out from now, maybe a little bit longer.

Just my personal opinion, but not saying anything about the wipe is leaving paying customers in an uncertain situation that can quickly turn into disaffection to the game: this project has so much potential that I feel sad in seeing it wasted like this: NQ we deserve to know what your decision is now.
