    • Get rid of repair limitations to elements on ships build with x-small cores (for newbie learner flyers)
    • Suspend damage to all elements until all the bugs are out - I darent fly at the moment after a game crash wrecked my ship.
    • Only require schematics for larger, more complex, higher-value items.
    • Increase the container range to minimise the drudgery of mining and the often inability to land within container range at a busy market.
    • Increase nano pack containment volume to reduce boring , repetitive mining trips and help newbies get established.
    • Implement a flying tutorial in the piloting hub for newbies and make atmosphere height information available in planetary data.
    • Implement a lua tutorial in the building hub.
    • Reduce overall boring 'waits' for things like non-warp interplanetary travel and travelling to a market in the early stages of the game.
    • Improve introductory tutorials with better explanations and de-bug it!
    • Clean up markets and make the landing platforms larger.
    • Implement an industry 'buy back' scheme for those of us who have invested heavily in this prior to the 2 day patch notice.
    • Improve voxel engine with more scope - we should be able to build with angles and curves.
    • Include a table of which talents unlock what core allowances in the codex.
    • Improve and update the general marketing around the game to make it clear exactly what the state the game is in and what youre signing up for - currently it is misleading in its scope and gives the impression the game is more complete and stable than it is, especially if you dont know what a Beta is (not everyone is a gamer/programmer).
    • Improve the market interface.
    • Add more variation in content - ie. Other ways to generate income, ways to involve collaboratively with other players & orgs, more exploration & story.

  1. what’s wrong with you people..? theres loads left to do: press ‘W’ and the left mouse button for 2 hours, admire your post-industrial landscape blighted by defunct machines, or live dangerously with the unending thrill of daring not to lift off the planets surface incase you're stranded in the a-hole of nowhere with a 2su 400kmph joyride back on your campactible to the nearest market to not buy a replacement core or scrap.

For a racey change, why not spend 3 hours flying each way to a planet with some ore so you can crash upon return and lose it..?

Or why not while away the hours between your government hand-outs to browse the markets and imagine what your grand kids can buy, assuming of course you dont die of boredom before you procreate.

    honestly...

now shut up and get back to that rich, rich vein of worthless quartz you think you might find....

    W click W click W click W click W click W click W click W click....... ooh wait, plateau...left or right...oh god, the thrill.... lets go left...W click W click W click & hold, cant get through, click everywhere...W click W click W click W click W click W click W click W click... directional scanner says -12, -56 degrees...W click W click /w click /w click W click W click W click W click W click W click, click and hold....cant get through....

OMG, better stop, too excited....ill never sleep tonight. Total adrenaline.....

well, thats something at least... but an email to subscribers would’ve been better than a tweet that not everyone would see...they managed to send one out about the patch in the first place.

  3. I think the silence from NQ to PAYING subscribers like us is deafening.  I was unaware that the game was so underdeveloped when I signed up for it, I assumed (I know, Ass of U and Me) that if it was being released, and charged for, its core mechanic would be pretty much rock solid, with 'enhancements'  and new content coming in iterative updates.

Even though I despise this patch with a passion, I would be willing to continue to support DU's development if we had a clear acknowledgement from NQ of the general feeling of the players and some glimmer of hope that it will SOON become playable again for new, unestablished players - with a clear and well developed plan that wont mean me paying a sub for 6 months with absolutely nothing to do but re-skill my talents and collect my daily Q's.

But as it stands NQ just seem like an arrogant bunch of rip-off merchants, so the balance between my love for the game (as it was) and my annoyance with NQ at their lack of consideration, responsibility, and an accessible public response has made me unsub too. I may come back in 6 months or so and see whats developed, but to be honest, I feel pretty ripped off...

First, all players encountered the same. It's didn't only hit you. Prices go all crazy now as market is destabilized but for established players I can give you the numbers:

I play solo, been doing A LOT of thinking and min/maxing over various alts etc. I ended up before the patch with:

10 assemblers running non-stop and producing L space/dynamic cores, Warp drives, AGG M/S. 10 assemblers for each of the items I mentioned. (It was popping up like 3 dynamic core unit L/day, 1 AGG M/day)

Now, I am thinking kinda wondering if I turn that all into single L core or may-be single AGG S factory. Not sure I have enough for schematics.

I started my industry at about 2-3 days after beta release, I had 2 lines building container S.

The patch made industry "specialization" instead of just everyone building everything without thinking twice because they can. At the end, products will  become rare and prices for product will go up so those who build them can get more value out of it.

If you want to do industry, first you should understand that it is now not "just to have it", it's a goal to reach. You can start by investing the money you have into some low level schematic, like, containers or may be even smaller cores. Then try building it, you can start by buying the parts they will soon be at the market most likely OR buy the schematics only for the part that is most valuable OR you can build the part and sell it to the market if they are not there to the other "you" that will build the containers.

Again, my advice, let the markets etc stabilize, they are highly volatile currently and you can't do any math atm + the industry units of t2+ prices are crazy high as there was not enough time to build them.

Once the dust settles, make a plan and follow it.

I am an ex EVE online player, that game has the most established economy in game world I believe. You need to mine for YEARS there to make a biggest ship solo (and it's not worth it as there are schematics too) but this is the only way of making the economy work.

As to the part that you are "behind' the more established players, that's gonna be only for now, if you do it smart the difference will evaporate with time. There will be more patches etc that turn everything upside down. It's OK for a game in beta.

Strong will survive, weak will perish - Natural selection.

I take the survival as a challenge, try to predict what to do before the patch to gain advantage. What to do now when all my industry is now irrelevant. It is part of the game when you play hardcore games. DU is not a "casual" game by design - no casual game makes you stare at the screen to fly from point A to point B for balance.

I dont need to be lectured by you.  I am NOT stupid. I know there are goals to reach, Im not expecting to 'just have it'. No where do I state that I expect to get everything now - I am simply explaining what it is like for a newbie player, right now after the patch.  There is literally nothing to do but mine. It sucks.

If all blueprints would be "lower price blueprints" then the same will and had in past happened to all goods.

You are not supposed to build high end items after 2 months when playing solo in MMO.

I agree there is a missing content that people can do other than stupid boring mining to bring money. At least PVE patch is supposed to be next, content I wait for (PVP) is 2 patches away....

That wasnt the point I was making,  I meant that most blueprints are totally out of reach of new players. I dont/didnt expect to be able to build anything high-end for a long time anyway, even without this patch.  But just how exactly are you, as new player, able to reach any of it? Ive been playing for 2 months and only have a modest collection of ind units and about 1m in the bank. And that involved a LOT of tedium as it was....

If you ever thought solo play in a sandbox game was going to be fun, you may want re-evaluate your self logic.

Not all of us are au fait with what a sandbox game is, and we PAID to came on board soley on the basis of the marketing and what was promised.  It WAS fun until this patch. Now its  C H R O N I C.

  7. I’m a new player, I started about 2 months ago as a way to escape the drudgery of the current endless Covid lockdowns.
When I signed up for Dual Universe, I was inspired by the idea that I could take the game at my own pace and build a world for me, in the way that I wanted, that I could explore space and build amazing things.  I don’t class myself as a gamer, I’m not interested in PvP or combat, but I I love sci-fi, enjoy escapism and being able to create.
Your game seemed to have everything I wanted, and although some elements were a bit tedious – mining, unrelenting crashes whilst learning to fly and the subsequent repairs to name a couple, I persevered because I was progressing. It felt that possibility was always within my reach, I just needed to do a little bit more, work a little harder, and that’s what kept me reaching and growing.
This new patch has, in one stroke, removed all the joy, possibility, fun and scope for new players like me.  I don’t want to be part of an Organisation – I was sold the idea that ‘I could be anything I wanted to be’.  But that’s simply not true anymore.
I implore you NQ – PLEASE think about the experience for new players, this game had such possibily and was truly inspiring. I have absolutely loved playing it and even though I couldn’t compete, or wanted to, with the big orgs it was truly great to immerse myself in this world.
You’ve created a perfect storm for new players:

    • Building your first ship is now out of reach.
    • Even if you manage to build one, core & component damage now means learning to fly a ship will be impossible.
    • Travelling to and from markets is long and dull with your free speeder as there are no territories near any markets on Sanctuary with a shuttle.
    • Even if you do want to spend ages trailing backwards and forwards, you cant carry much.
    • Blueprints are ridiculously expensive, so now you cannot invest your money in industry to convert your ore into usable money, as all the lower price blueprints will produce products that will no doubt flood the market, have little value, and therefore have no profit.
    • Assuming you can get off planet, you have hours of flying to reach anywhere with ore of any significance, assuming you make it there and back in one piece now warp drives are so utterly unreachable.

I didn’t sign up to a space-mining, economics simulator game -  I wanted to engage with what was sold to me through all the marketing; and that’s certainly not hours of doing nothing interesting to get nowhere.
Unfortunately, you’ve made it utterly dull, with the potential for fun so far out of reach that its honestly not worth the time or money for me.
I really hope you fix this – it had huge potential, and I honestly cant remember a game I enjoyed as much as this, but I think you’ve just shut the doors on new players and shot yourselves in the foot.
I genuinely, genuinely hope you listen to everyone and you make a success of Dual Universe, it is (was) special, I’m just gutted its been ruined for me.

I take it back. Having seen how this has been implemented, this has no place even in a well developed game.

    Its  C H R O N I C.

My meagre factory is all now inoperative, I haven't got the money for blueprints, or any fuel for that matter as my refinery doesnt work now, and literally the day before the announcement I'd invested most of my money in new industry.  I simply cannot be arsed to collect rocks to fill my nanopack and trail to the nearest market across rough terrain (going at at 5km ph in order not to damage my campactible, because things can now only be repaired a few times and parts are suddenly hideously expensive) to sell for fuck all.

As a newbie (2 months) I really felt like I was getting somewhere until this. I LOVED this game, it was fantastic escapism from reality; such a shame its been ruined - it honestly feels like a playground for established, rich players.- players whom have just been slightly slowed down and inconvenienced for a couple of weeks whereas its over for me.

    G U T T E D.

  9. I literally smashed my ship up EVERY time I re-entered Alioths atmosphere for weeks - just couldnt get the hang of it.  This will literally ground every newbie and then theres no way to be able to afford to replace them.

There definitely should be a flying school in the tutorial and some indication of the atmosphere heights on each planet, assuming of course that all new players wont be doomed to a life gathering rocks on Sanctuary....

Right on. Too many posts referring to all this 'work' theyre doing in game. How about get a job, discover what work really is and realise that this is actually entertainment....

Awesome game NQ, I wont be going anywhere.

yeah, thats the point, its supposed to be 'entertainment'. Which, for me, isnt paying a sub to spend hours mining just to get to actually do anything fun months down the line. B O R I N G.

The end of DU as we know it is near. Brace yourselves for impact!

Am I disappointed because I just spent 10 to 12 days building and digging my L core Factory. Yes! But this is just a game after all. Spending time here or spending time watching movies is just a matter of perspective and preference.

    du-announcement.png

    Gutted.

I guess it was good whilst it lasted and it kept me happy, for a couple of months at least.

    So long Dual Universe....

  12. It's clear that most of the players who have felt compelled to post so passionately about this issue are single players and those who are parts of small orgs, and interesting that theres been very little from players in large orgs, or those who have played for a long time (and have likely benefitted from abundant T2+ ores )except to say they welcome this move.   We are  passionate about this game, we LOVE this game.

The neccessary evil of mining currently has pay-off in that the more time you invest, the more able you are to open up new possibilities through production.  Ive literally been playing this game for 5+ hours a day for 2 months and have only just got to a point where I have amassed enough industry to feel as though I am on the verge of breaking through into a sustainble strategy where I can make enough stuff to move my gaming experience onto the next level and leave the safe zone.  Im by no means comparable to large factories, but I am able to manufacture basic stuff to either sell or use.

But  soon I will have to buy everything from the markets - WITH WHAT EXACTLY? EARNED HOW EXACTLY?

There seems to be absolutely no percpetion from NQ what it is ACTUALLY like for a new player to get to grips with the game. Even learning to fly your precious ship, re-entering the atmosphere without destroying it takes at least 15+ goes, thank god I was able to repair it, otherwise I wouldve run out of money almost immediately, or been doomed to life harvesting rocks on Sanctuary.  If the iterative damage of elements had been active when I was learning to fly, I wouldve stopped playing forver when my money ran out.  This latest proposal is, again, going to disporoportionately penalise inexperienced new players, and those who dont want to be part of an org, and they will be almost immediately turned off once they realise how utterly distant the fun parts of the game will be, whilst the already established, weathy players will be also affected, they will still be able to have fun and play the game as NQ intends. Unlike the rest of us impoverished troglodytes who will be forced into a life of subterranian servitude, or the better option of not renewing our subs.

I play this game because of the possibilities it presents and the idea sold to me through the marketing; I want to create, build and explore and escape the drudgery of COVID19, not pay for virtual drudgery.

This kind of basic inconsideration for newbie players and the chalenges they face is further compounded by this latest move - its almost like NQ dont WANT new players in their game.

    NQ- READ THE ROOM.

(assuming you actually do read these forums)

EDIT:  Today, after this announcement,  the cheapest warp drive available is Q3,800,000 - so thats 38 daily logins, assuming you do nothing else. GREAT.

  13. So, judging by NQ's attitude in the Q&A thats me done with Dual Universe. GUTTED. This was the first game in 10 years that actually engaged and spoke to me. I dont want to pay to spend hours pressing 'W' and holding down the left mouse button.

This is NOT what I was sold, or what I pay for.

Such a shame, this move will ruin the game for me, and I genuinely feel aggrieved that such a fundamental shift will be imposed. Unless you are an established, large Org, this game will be tedious, dull and crap.

And great, Canopy Glass: if only I'll be able to afford to craft it or buy it....

I came into this game for the endless building possibilities... But if I am now forced to "play" ten hours of rock dentist just to pay to make some conglomerate rich, well, that's a bit too close to the real life I'm trying to avoid by playing a computer game in the first place...

A big, massive steaming fly strewn NOPE from me.

    TOTALLY!

I fail to see the attraction of hours underground, hunting for T1 ores to do nothing with. Totally sucks ass.

Such a shame - I've LOVED playing this game so far, even with the laborious mining, but will certainly lose the attraction when this patch comes along...   B  O  R  I  N  G.

  15. I'm a pretty new player and spent a few weeks getting to grips with the game and finding my way around.  Its taken a long time and a lot of work to build a ship, lots of money repairing after learning to fly through smashing up on Alioth time and time again, and spent hours looking for T3+ ores, which have been totally unsuccessful. Even after 3+ hours each way flying to other planets to hunt, only to find that theyve been stripped bare.

Im not interested in joining an org, I want to play the game as an individual, but this step seems to make it even more impossible for new players to get to grips with Dual universe, and I honestly think that it will totally ruin the game for players like me.  Ive worked really hard to build a small factory to produce a Territory Scanner with ores that Ive laboriously mined, which has taken weeks.Without the ability to generate decent income you are effectively stuck, unable to be able to move forward.  It not even possible  to mine for decent ore to generate income as its been completely hoovered up everywhere.  Wouldnt it be better to somehow impose a levvy on larger factories to limit their output or profits rather than punishing small fry like me?

I still havent been able to afford a warp drive, and building a factory seemed like the only sustainable way to acheive this - so I hope you put things into place to help newbie players, who, by the time they have learned the game will be doomed to a poor, boring life on Alioth & Sanctuary!  And what happens to all the industrial units Ive slowly purchased that I will now need a huge investment to use? I honestly think that I will lose interest, just at a point where I felt I was getting somewhere....... .   .     .        .           .                   .                                             !
