I like where they are going with mining, i feel like the optimisation bit is grind for the sake of grind.  Maybe the mining units could be composed of elements and voxel and be player built constructs?  ... it could have added some creativity... then maybe over time those elements could degrade and need replacing......  then maybe the elements could be different tier too.... but then maybe a fast drill head needed a faster CPU to run the calcs, maybe a fast head needs replacing more often... or a slow drill has lower output but more time between changes.....

I feel like with a bit of creativity some of these game systems could be made to be more involving with relatively little work?  its just stats isnt it?

Why don't you add some Mining Units in the Markets for those of us without access to our Factories? Having to make them first is a bit of a pain when we have Mega's to mine out and what we should be testing is how badly the Mining units are going to perform and how ridiculous the Taxes are going to be! Of course we'd need a working ship to go buy them but............. words fail me (non expletives that is)

So all the tier 2 ores on Alioth are 0L/H - that's a bug right? an 200L/H for Tier 1 - that's approx. 1/2 a single scoop of traditional mining - that ain't gonna power no industrial complex - who comes up with these numbers???

So, here are some questions. This time I even spent time on the PTS and watched the full video first

-Demeter fees will pull a lot of money "out of the system" and slow the inflation or even reverse it (deflation). The 1M per week fee is set now, at a time when it is equivalent to only 10kl or hematite, or one t2 engine L. Will you adjust the fee should the buying power of the quanta change significantly? The whole "player driven economy" is, by far, not really player driven anymore, and this patch is yet another step in that direction, the fixed rates for schematics, missions, other bot buy and sell orders, and now territory fees see to that.

-I generally like airbrakes now finally getting an obstruction zone, however the current direction indicated by the yellow arrows is not only unintuitive but would also just lead to players stacking them on the inside of the craft pointing outwards to the sides. On the current PTS it appears the obstruction is checked above the brakes (if placed on horizontal surface). What are the plans for the direction of the obstruction directions for the airbrakes?

-This is a nice reminder that plenty of items have obstruction zones which dictate a certain usage, which is often not visually pleasing, intuitive or, for better lack of word, "feels right". Any plans for an overall overhaul of obstruction mechanics and directions?

-To use mining units to their full potention, by at least never wasting charges because the charge pool is already full, you have to log in almost daily (every 30h with no talents, every 35h with full charge gain and pool talents). It feels rather tight. Do you think DU is a game for casuals, RP players, weekend warriors and others who are not playing in a regular profit oriented way? (So not like me   ).

-My first ever ship sale was to a player who just travels the planets and maintains a little base on almost every planet and moon. Quite serene and dreamy actually. He will now have to set up mining units and get into business, or collect rocks, or quit. He is not allowed to continue the way he is used to play. The fee is too high for that. Patch .23 stopped groups of people from having autonomous outposts and building civilisation away from alioth. Demeter now stops another group of players from playing their way. What is the intended and therefore likely future-proof way to play DU?

-With planet based mining gone, yet another thing to actually do in the game is removed. For players who have time on saturdays there is still asteroid mining, for the rest there are AI missions, which consist of taking off and waiting for 5h to arrive, assuming you do one that actually pays something. Player made long distance haul missions can not compete with AI missions. Any plans on revisiting Apelia missions, their payout, or the fact that the long distance ones are overly profitable with multiple accounts or "car sharing" via VR?

-Related to above: Any plans to add anything to the game that is fun to do and at the same time brings an amount of resources?

-In order to find asteroids you need access to a DSAT which is t3. In order to mine t3 via units you also need t3 ore for the advanced autominer. Will it be impossible to get t3 ore without already existing t3 ore?

Personally I feel carrying scans over is a compensation for hundreds of hours that I will loose when they delete the purpose of those scans.  And while you might say but you already got the benefit from the scans. Yea I got a bunch of supernodes. But those scans also game me territories that I would be able to harvest over the next couple years when supernodes ran out.

Large ships stack them because so many atmo brakes are required.

Maybe you could point us to your ships so we can compare. Large ships may have 60+ atmo brakes. I am curious how you do that without stacking them.

Let’s also skip the “don’t make large ships argument.” This is a simpler problem for smaller ships.

The L/hr seem too low even with talent and adjacency bonus for the 1 mil/week tax. Either the rate needs to go up or the tax drastically reduced. The brake change is horrible. I know the current implementation was temporary, but requiring the entire brake to be exposed is going to usher in the golden age of freaking ugly ships. Please change the requirement to be only the front surface to be exposed.

While I don't disagree with the changes to Airbrakes, can you explain why Demeter is the time to implement this? A time where we are all already experiencing a game changing shift in the way we will play Dual Universe, with entire systems being implemented and changed, why would adding an previously un-announced change that will go and cause the majority of constructs to not function properly, be something you thought should be included with Demeter?

    Area51 reacted to NQ-Deckard in 2021 Roadmap
Earlier this year, we presented our plans for the future of Dual Universe, following player feedback from the beta. Along with these plans, we had an internal roadmap, which we thought needed further refinement before being able to share it publicly, as we want to be able to give our community a reliable view of our plans. We now feel that this time has come, so here is the roadmap for the remainder of 2021.

A few important things to note:
This is a work in progress.  Dates may shift.  Features may be added or removed.
Please also note that there is more further down the line, past 2021. We just want to be realistic about content and timings and start with delivering what we think is important for 2021. We hope to be working with you, our community, to deliver fun and interesting new features and improvements, thanks to our “new” release process, which includes the PTS, and to your ongoing feedback.

Which features on the roadmap are you most excited about?

Will Lag be finally addressed? At the moment the game even freezes when you fly over single large core ships with over 500 km per hr dont mention the lagg fest at markets.
When will we see tha addition of larger cores and implementation of key aspects of the kickstarter program?
With the new limitations organizations for projects are going to be crippled, what system will you put in place to bind organizations together like project groups or alliances?
In the kickstarter ideals it was spoken that you could build your dreams, build a starbase as large as a moon, when will that be implemented, and i dont mean to stuff thousands of smaller cores at a place but a single core or cores that are interlinked and can communicate with each other (LUA/elevators/cargo/industry/).

When will we be able to use research to create schematics that we can sell ourselves?

well lets keep it at that for now

I would think that shields without power/energy management are like spanning the cart before the horse.
So what about power management As mentioned, mining .. Will it move away from digging entirely as previous devblogs have suggested? Will going there also imply a voxel reset on planets? How will no more digging impact mechanics like the flattening tool? When will we get an answer to the question why animated elements only have a 30meter viewing distance? Will asteroid mechanics still put a huge red arrow over your head by broadcasting the position through the universe, removing any need for peeveepee players to put effort into finding those who go out and find asteroids?

I think this change is definitely going in the correct direction, more limits in the game are needed in order to make it a proper MMO rather than a game with a small number of players with huge assets which nobody can compete with.  And having infinite orgs as a way to circumvent limits was just silly.

I think one superlegate role per player is perhaps going a bit far though.  Something like 3 or 5 (you can only ever be in 5 orgs) seems more sensible to me because it would allow for experimentation, community projects, etc and then just balance the game around that?  Or perhaps we could have a special category of 'sub-org' which has a parent org as a legate but which shares whatever counters NQ don't want to scale infinitely (shared new territory cost, etc).

Also NQ if you're reading this, what will you do about unsubbed accounts?  Will players lose their stuff after unsubbing because their personal org got disbanded or will we still be able to have as many orgs as we want and manage them as a tree like we do now so long as we create an army of unsubbed alts to sit in the superlegate role of each one?  If the latter the IRL money cost of, say, 20 one month subs to make 20 unsubbed alts would really make the game pay to win -- some people will be able to easily afford that while others will just have to put up with one account.  Or do you have a cunning plan to fix this problem?

Most of you already know me and most of you also know that i keep on shouting NO MORE LIMITS.

And till now i was met with aggression for that standing position, but seems the tide is turning.
Already for some time DU is not developing but it is limiting, problems are not dealt with, limits are thrown in the game. have a choice between developing a solution or implement limitations? LETS LIMIT IT!!!!!!   For me this is just another show of uncannily bad development. There are so many ways this could have been solved, and since day one that people are making organizations they are building them like this. And Now after messing up schematics, ignoring exploids for a year, favouring some players over others, now we get this great thought about solution to kill the remaining veterans of DU.

I would give you a standing ovation but im running to the toilet as i get a fair amount of diareaa of this shitty solution with another fine new LIMITATION.

One suggestion, change the name please, this is nolonger Dual Universe, Dual is just to much honour. Please rename the game to Limited Universe,

You know what they say, You can LU it!

DU was created by an academic with no experience in the field -- so it isn't that surprising it was built with a lot of half-baked, experimental ideas...but not backed by a robust technical core that could actually scale in the real world (even with relatively small pops).

The DU site says "build almost anything" like "cities", but they never actually planned the tech around supporting this at any meaningful scale. They saw that something could work in an early prototype and declared proudly that their "cutting edge tech" would work at the most extreme scales...without ever really testing it or optimizing for it.

I think NQ is going to implement even more restrictions because they want to start ramping up marketing again.

They probably believe that the last few updates have improved the game enough that their churn rates will be much improved relative to open beta...but to ramp up marketing, they need to be sure that costs are cheaper per player and that scaling out servers nets them a profit and not even more loss.

I very much doubt that they'll be happy with their churn rates if that's the plan...

Damn! and you were doing so well. But the truth is you really are making this up as you go along!

Ok so this is a deal breaker for me.

I have been reading chats in various Discords where the opinion seems to be that everyone knew nested orgs was illegal, these all being people with 5+ alts (I guess money in the bank for NQ but surely 10000 actual individual players is more healthy than 1000 players with 10 alts!) but anyway, I can't afford multiple accounts.

If something is not allowed - don't let it be done!

I have been playing since the game went public, building my Empire. When Schemagate happened, I was angry, but I took a deep breath and bought the schematics I could afford and have slowly built up again. To keep this going (and for future growth) along the way I have scanned for what are known as meganodes and saw that there was a way to afford these using nested Orgs. Great! I thought, I missed out on the 1q Warp Beacon Schematics but at least I can afford a few nodes to keep me going. I hate mining (I am physically uncomfortable when I pass the 3 hour mark mindlessly clicking a button) so I have a collection of nodes close that I can use to keep the machines running and that way it's manageable. When a node is done I keep the 'property', so that, when Mining machines arrive I can fully clean it out and therefore get maximum return on my investment. I have been greatly enjoying the game. I've made a nice base and just started building my Space Station in preparation for visiting the outer planets to search for new resources.

And then 'BAM' out of the blue, 'bend over Mark, it's time for another rogering'(verb VULGAR SLANG•BRITISH). Seriously guy's you can't do this to us again!

There is no mechanism for transferring ownership of tiles!
The blueprint system doesn't allow for precision placing so moving buildings involves demolishing and starting again!
There isn't even a way to see and interact with our Orgs and their assets (i.e. how many tiles/static/dynamic cores does ShaftedAgain Org own/ where are they/ what limit does their skills allow/ etc/ etc).

Guy's, the game is clunky as fuck! - but we keep playing because we see it has something, it could be great.
You really should spend a year sorting out the infrastructure and bugs!

So here's how you're going to fix this:
Increase the allowed Org number - I mean, in RL you can have as many companies as you want! 3 maybe? - get back to us with a proposal that reduces server cost or whatever the reason for this madness is and works for you.
You ask us which Org/Orgs we want to keep and you transfer all tiles, constructs and cash out of the others into that Org/Orgs.
Then going forward we have to pay increased costs and limit the amount we own adhering to new clearly defined limits.

If you want this game to succeed why do you do your utmost to drive us away?

And in future if you have a problem with something in the game that you designed and made refer to the detailed design documents that were produced ....Lol only joking!.....put it into the community to help come up with an answer - we all want it to succeed as much as you do!
