Seriously I don't have time to play the game in the way I was used to and in the way I want to play. I don't have time... Every time I log in I have to spend about 1 hour for the Mining Unit or time anyway related to pay taxes or have enough quanta to buy material I need or to mine them. Before time to time I was going to mine a bit and I was taking the opportunity to test some stuff for my flight system. Now I'm bored, need to calibrate the Mining Units and need to spend hours looking for a decent spot to get the ores I need.
The market is just a mess, if bots were not existing we are all done. How can people sell something like Hematite that nobody needs since is everywhere? Only because of bots we can seel it.
The last update is killing the game and I believe you, NQ, start to realize it but just wanted to go in this direction to save serever costs which still doesn't work well anyway. The damages are done, not much you can do to recover from this path except trying to minimize them.
No progressive taxes has been implemented yet, no asteroids spawning randomly in any area and at any time, bugs that are giving players problems to get rocks fromthe ground still there etc etc...
You NQ pretend that we play a beta and pretend that having bugs is normal and it is yes but you also pretend we follow the way you want we play and bugs and difficulties are not making this game a pleasure to play anymore. There is no support anymore in game because you are so busy with a huge amounts of tickets where people wait for a week an answer and this answer doesn't even solve the problem but started to be an automatic reply. So what is this? And you increased the price? You increased the price to give us this? A more expencive service with lower quality. I think I don't need to say anything else.

It's NOT the constant bugs. This is a beta. They're a small studio running on fumes. It's no surprise having to fill in a dozen bug reports after every release: https://imgur.com/a/y4sPbpE
It's NOT the constant nerfs - losing our factories, HTML/SVGs, megas/scans, terraforming, LUA randomly deprecated, ship designs ganked by new element mechanics... also to be expected in a beta (even if it is soul-destroying.)
It's NOT having all my suggestions ignored - even the most basic QoL improvements which 50 other people also asked for since day 1, and still today: https://www.reddit.com/r/DualUniverse/comments/pu9eoc/watch_my_spirit_broken_in_real_time/

Sorry Xerrass. NQ just don't listen.
It's NOT the lack of vision or inspiration. JC's 'emergent gameplay' pitch was awesome bait. Now we're all being shoe-horned into a vanilla same-as-every-other-game meta, but maybe that's the price of doing business. If it means more players, also fine.
It's NOT the community. The community were awesome - although many good people have also left.
No, I loved this game - despite everything. Eyes wide open.
    The issue is trust.
As a beta, the only point of investing time is if you trust the studio to respect your effort.
NQ have crossed from flaky to deceitful: showering us with platitudes while stealth-patching and quietly reversing stated plans.
If we can't trust them to respect our efforts, and we can't trust anything they say - any declaration now is potentially the opposite of what will happen. Every back-flip is attributed to some last-minute complaint from someone, but it's never clear who, or how many, or what the forum was to be heard, and how long discussion was open-then-closed-then-opened-again.
And because of the ham-fisted way they've handled letting players who quit long ago just leave their garbage laying around forever, tying up resources without paying a sub, there are absolutely no consequences to just walking away - which probably the dumbest design decision in the history of a game.
TL/DR: NQ caught lying. Again. No pre-nup.

You will be missed! And you got it right on every point, i could even add that exploiders have more rights compared to other players since they are never act upon or are the spoils ever taken away. Even worse, when telling about it or about their RL goldselling you come on a blacklist.

I read drastic improvements in the replies but i cannot find any, if scrapping features and people leaving what leads to less lag is seen as an improvement then indeed the improvements are drastic, if itwas intended to talk about the development of DU going into extra speed, introducing new features making it cutting edge and absolutely new and unique in Its kind, I missed that.

There is not even a point in writing down ideas and suggestions anymore. All are ignored and good stuff we have will probably be deleted or addressed in a different way to diversify the playing field, what ever that means.

I still hope to see a change but chances are grim

Day one using mining units with calibration: This is a useless system...ok efficientcy sucks, lets grab rocks instead.
Day two using mining units, Ok calibration is even worse today as yesterday, grabing rocks doesnt do much either but well, we got something
Day tree logging in.  Shit noway im going to do this boring stuff every day, cyaaa Logging out, open steam call friends play space engineers, do actual mining, 3 days to build a ship looking epic, fighting in PvP, meating some DSI people who probably didnt know who i was, But had a great time.
    Day four not logging in
    Day five not logging in

With the implementation of schematics almost all were against and prices were high, But you didnt listen to any of the objections, mass player leaves. Now we get this patch, comments everywhere, players again leaving some after coming back a week or so and the comment list is large. best part about schematics was the solution: But you make alot of cash so buying them is easy, now we dont make anything anymore except the people who do missions.
In the end DU became a Do missions for cash and log out Game. Maybe I am missing a point but the whole idea of building civilization together in a MMO should be different then flying alts on a mission solo.

I was really surprised to see this update and I was really disappointed!  I spent days on scans and finding ok-ish tiles with more or less ore max 1.8KT and I am not a hardcore player.  Casually comming into the game knowing that I have set myself with a little piece of pie  for later.  I was mining and enjoying gameplay. Now NQ disregarded all that and throw away all countless efforts of me and everyone who was all about finding nodes and mining them. That action is not for beta games, I would say it's acceptable maybe in alpha stage of a game.
What's next buying tiles on asteroids? Fuel tax?  Maybe meteorites falling down on our tiles destroying MU for mining too much?

Never the less, on the other hand I was truly excited to see this update. I was thinking that now I don't even have to look for ore, just set up MU and enjoy free income do whatever, maybe even dare to go to PvP and see outside safe zone. At the moment I have casually played DU for a year and I have not been to every planet outside of safe zone yet. All the time I am in the safezone. I could not afford to go that far and loose a descent ship. And mostly upgrading and rebuilding experimental space vehicles for myself.

Calibrating MU that is super boring and very annoying to go and harvest ore after, believe me I have done alot of harvesting before I figured out how to find it in the ground ). The profit margins no where near as they used to.

Since the update the only things I have been doing is trying to figure y the way to make money to pay for 7 tiles.  I thought it will be super profitable. But it is't more profitable, it is more hussle than ever befor. I have to keep up on my MU almost every day and keep an eye on my territory upkeep. And it feels like a second job. Now prices of ore fall down almost as a year ago. This update would work if t1 price would be firm at around 80's and now it's going rapidly towards low 20's.

I am not playing DU because I need second job and whole alot of stress. I have plenty of it in real life. I play DU because I love space the freedom to go where I want to go, build what I want to build. Now I feel obligated to play this game every day so I could at least keep what I have gotten. Probably will wrap it up and move to Sanctuary Moon yeah so much fun!

So sad I prepaid yearly subscription.....
And for the whole year before I was paying every month, even though I wasn't playing every month. I have done it because I liked the game and wanted to support it. I really hope you guys at NQ will give your heads a shake.
At least provided some weekly missions so I can pay for my bloody tiles if I don't play DU ever day.

Also may be instead of giving 150k a day, make one tile on any planet duty free........

I dont have much quanta so I, like many others it seems have been selling ore.  I tried selling refined metals but they are even harder to sell.
There is a shortage of buyers so I have had to sell ore to buyers.  I decided it was time to do some math.
I have 4 hex currently producing T2 and T3 ore.
My estimated income per week is 12.5 mil less tax is 8.5 mil.  I'm not going to count calibration ore as it should roughly offset the MU that randomly turn themselves off.
After tax of 4 mil I'm left with 8.5 mil.  I have claimed a hex with a small amount of T4 and another with some T5 (currently HQ).
So, my next purchase will be a Rare MU for 23 mil.  So, thats 3 weeks away.  Income should then rise by 4.5 mil allowing for tax.  So total 13 mil.
My next purchase after that will be an Exotic MU .  Thats 64 mil.  So, another 5 weeks.
Then I'll be set.  So, this is based on current prices.  Mu prices might drop but so might ore prices.

The thing is.  I will not be purchasing anything from anybody (other than 2 MU) for the next 8 weeks at least.
If, many other players are like me, then, thats a long time with little economic activity.
Its also maybe going to be pretty boring, unfortunately.

No, it would still make sense even without a wipe.
Currently, being beta and with all the issues around the game not being interesting, NQ has not activated any real "abandoned subscription" measures.
But I fully expect those measures to be implemented at release.

But a "abandoned subscription" is an account without a valid DAC for several months.

If someone keeps paying the DACs for their account, their stuff will never be deleted/abandoned.

    A quick note:

While its 100% legit for anyone to talk about the impact of NQ's decision, it is not ok to say that NQ intended this or that. Unless we have direct prof.

    What i mean is.

Its ok for any player to say "I felt threatened by the automatic abandoning of territories"
Because this is a feeling you own. Its yours to state as a fact.

But its not Ok to say "NQ wanted to threaten players with the automatic abandoning of territories"
Because what NQ intended to do is not yours to state as a fact.

Saying that NQ intended to threaten players can be considured an insulting accusation.

The vision behind DU has changed conciderately, Probably from a visionairy point of view to a stakeholders, screw it we want return on investment, point of view. Does that mean you will get the DU you hoped for with all the talks JC had and all the ideas we saw in the past. Nope, best leave fast if thats what you hope for.  Will we ever see the civilization build by players? no idea but the chance we saw that was better the first week in beta as it is now.

Im sorry, but 10 hours to rebuild an m-core? I think YOU are trolling.
Even with the ore present, you would still have to fabricate the elements. On a decent m-core that would be at least 10 L engines for atmo alone. Never mind the other elements.
An L-core takes 3 days to produce and thats just the core.
Impossible to do in 10hrs. I would say. I have lots of L and XL containers, please tell me the amount of elements you have and do a realistic calculation of how long it will take you to rebuild them. Your base, storage, ships.
Im sure it will take you at least a month of subscription.

So it seems you dont mind paying for a game and waste your time doing the same stuff twice. Thats not something for me to be doing. My time is precious to me.

Its these 'positive lies' of players like you that try to convince people that the game is still simple, easy and the same as NQ is advertising, while it is not.
This mining system is only nice if you are into making money.
If you entered this game a year ago to be an artistic builder, then the game has now changed for the worse.
    That is a fact.

There is a big difference between saying you won't do a wipe, but by technical necessity you can't rule it out as a last resort when all other options have been exhausted, and planning a wipe or partial wipe and only finding out how much of a loss a player would take who put time and money into a product where the wipe itself was not planned as a fixed component, but only as a nasty surprise if all other measures failed.
However, we have already solved problems through a partial wipe, although it was probably not an extreme and unsolvable problem, but purely a financial problem. (Terrain Resett)
This partial reset did not have to take place, but was nevertheless sold as if it were absolutely necessary.
The same seems to be happening with other wipes. These are not necessary! Neither in the sense of old players, current players, nor new players. There are ways to lure new players into the game with a new solar system at the time of release, without this having a negative impact on the game experience for more advanced players.

kulkija reacted to Novean-32184 in Maybe the biggest factor in the new mining system overlooked by NQ is ....
Without a territory scanner it is impossible to know if a tile is worth investing in and paying 1.5 million to find out is really the only option if you do not (yet) fly around with one.

Mining requires a static construct, which in turn requires a claimed tile. To claim a tile and start mining you need to pay 1.5 million. Money which you may find is a waste as the tile does not have the resources to pay for taxes.

Unless I am mistakes, a new tile must have it's cost of 500K and the taxes for the week at 1M quanta paid in advance before you can even place a mining unit.

So add a ship capable of carrying a territory scanner to the list of prerequisites to find a tile worth paying for..

To me the problem is that after the last wipe, and up until the last Q&A, NQ had made it very clear that they didn't intend to intentionally revert player's progress, for the sake of reverting player's progress.  There is plenty of evidence to support this.

Any situation that might have required them to wipe, they could at least give out magic blueprints "so that players are quickly back on their feet".

A wipe for the sake of "resetting the economy" wouldn't really work though, if they provide magic blueprints.  And i don't see how NQ could keep their promise to "attempt to mitigate these effects through plenty of forewarning and various dev means so that players are quickly back on their feet" if their intentions are to do the opposite.

They can't really mitigate the effects of a wipe, if the effects of the wipe are the only reason they are doing it.

I'm not going to say i'd quit playing if they wiped, because i probably wouldn't.  But the truth is that there are several projects that i've spent a huge amount of time on and was planning to spend a lot more time finishing, that would likely never see the light of day again.  It would take me months to get back into a position to start working on them again, and from past experience i know i probably won't get around to it.  Huge builds have a kind of momentum that it can be hard to recapture, for me at least.

The fact is i've already walked off the Arcship twice with empty pockets.  I might not quit, but it's really hard to imagine mustering the same enthusiasm a third time.

If they do wipe for the sake of wiping, i sure hope all the people who quit playing once already, come back with a lot more enthusiasm this time around, because it would be a shame to have 100% of the player base alienated and unenthusiastic.

The second solar system idea sounds incredible to me, it really seems like the ideal solution.  I hope they consider it whether they decide to wipe or not.  It sounds like it would be fun.

Game has still lots of issues.
Before Demeter it were not a problem and no hurry to fix them.
How ever now after Demeter update we must earn lots of Quanta every week to keep our assets in planets.
It is critical that we can perform all operations which are needed to earn that quanta without delays.
Right now there are many bugs which creates lots of delays to operations we need for earning enough quanta.
Now we as players are under strict timers to pay our in-game duties.

    Question:
How will NQ guarantee that they provide stable game so that we can pay our taxes?

    Question 01:
Is it possible to take the gambling factor out of the mining unit system? It is always a risk factor that you cannot influence and for some areas it is then a question of the profitability of ores and taxes.

    Question02:
Is it possible to enable all skill points of the MiningUnits via VR. Again, it is a nonsensical calculation if you have to fly your fields and thus spend a lot of time and fuel to calibrate these MiningUnits to get an economic return.

    Question03:
At the moment a lot of Quanta is taken out of the game by taxes, at the same time the VR restriction on missions prevented Quanta from coming into the game in sufficient quantity. Is this really the way it is meant to be?

    Question04:
It seems to discourage a lot of players from logging in to pay their taxes. Frustration has arisen among many players, some are moving back to Sanctuary and some are simply leaving the game and cancelling their subscriptions. Wouldn't it be enough if the headquarters (HQ) could also be exempt from tax and at the same time be used for industries? This would certainly make a positive difference for many players.
