A lot of people go out into the PvP zone and provide pirates with an easy kill.  Then they assume that PvP must be easy because it was easy for someone to kill *them*.

But just because you are bad at PvP doesn't mean that everyone else is too.  Not all pirates are friends, a lot of the time when you go out looking for a fight you find other PvP groups who will try to kill you.

Often that's what people are hoping for.  Nobody will turn down an easy kill if you provide it but it doesn't mean all PvPers are gankers or doing something easy just because you did it badly.

I hate having to inspect each machine to figure out WTF is going on.
I wish they would update the status lights from just crappy Green / Red...
    They could easily make it:

    Red: out of material.
Flashing: 1 hour has elapsed in this state.
    Orange: output container full...
Flashing: 1 hour has elapsed in this state.
    Yellow: idling (maintain level reached)...
    Green: Operating normally
          Flashing: All done.
    Blue: Schematics Lacking.
Flashing: 1 hour has elapsed in this state.N
Off: new machine or no task assigned.

But this detail of development would likely require NQ to dedicate an entire team several weeks to achieving.

They could just leave it to us and make the damned light LUA controllable.

Damn. I've gone and added to the endless wishlists that fruitlessly populate this forum.

--edit... holy shitballs, I just looked carefully now and realised the machine's lights are THREE colours, not two....   An ever so slightly ruby shade of red means purposefully paused due to maintain limit reached and an ever so slightly orange shade of red means there's an error.

Never even noticed until now. LOL.

Reading the posts here, it's clear that calibrations shouldn't give any ore bonus. Just keep the unit at 100% and passive hourly income only.

Yet again, NQ creates a game mechanic rife for abuse and economy breaking exploits.

ColonkinYT got a reaction from Zireaa in Mining today. It used to be better?
Yesterday, once again I was convinced that one decision of the developers killed a whole layer of game content.
I'm talking about mining. And specifically about the fact that mining was removed from the planet, while they did not give adequate replacement in space. When more than 40 people arrive at a lone asteroid, it does not become fun.
Perhaps someone wanted the players to have no problems with lags and performance when mining? But I have never seen more than 3-4 people in the old mining system. And there was no such competition. I was sincerely sorry for those people who flew after half an hour to asteroid. It probably hurts ...
And now why I think that it was a mistake to remove mining from the planets.
    1. Mining with mining toit is just a mockery even compared to the collection of stones. Not to mention the asteroids. And the need for planets will soon understand most people. If resources are in space, you do not need planets. Yes, there are interesting resources of level 3-5, but they are disappeared and can be taken out of the planet Ship S Class.
    2. From paragraph 1 it follows that it makes no sense to build atmospheric Haullers for the export of a large number of ore from the planets. You just won't collect so much. No. I understand that the total production of many players is very significant. But they do not throw everything into one container)).
    3. Because of the above, there is no point in the control of planets and tiles. And accordingly, what wars are we talking about in the future, if there is nothing to fight for. On Bete, large associations of players tried to make blockade of planets. Before the input of units, this made sense. Not anymore. I think that there will be a blockade of points of the most likely asteroids. With space stations and Warp beacons, this will do this and easier and more effective.
    4. Atmospheric ships with anti -gravity generators of a large tonnage are simply not needed. They just have nothing to raise from the planets.
    5. Dual Universe has become even more unfriendly to new players. Yes, training has become better. But if earlier a beginner could dig ores and sell it, now in all starting areas it is empty as after locusts. Stones do not appear again.
I think that many can add more points.
The only plus is for developers. No need to store data in the database.
In my opinion, this is the case when one little brick that was diverted from the base brought down whole layers of possible gameplay.
Of course, the game designers know better what to do (probably). Perhaps I am too pessimistic. But yesterday I once again realized that returning to Alioth does not make sense ...

Oh @DannyUK. The surprises are much deeper.
A prime example is fuel tanks. Atmospheric tanks T1 scheme. And space tanks, consisting of T1 components, for some reason have a T2 scheme (naturally with a different cost and a different time).
And now the cherry on the cake. There are such things as Zone detectors. They range in size from XS to L. But they are all made with the same T3 recipe and on the same machine. With the same amount of time. Only here is the detector L. It has a schematic T3 L. Again, with a corresponding cost and time commitment.
As a result, we get an absurdity that the cost of components for a detector is a hundred times less than the cost of a schematic for it. Why is this? What is the deeper meaning besides the lack of testing and banal common sense? To make it clear, the circuit for the L detector will cost as much as the circuit is valid for a military advanced space engine.
P.S. I stopped playing on the beta because of the schemes.
If you want to get money out of the production workers, just make a tax on the machines.
And if the production "loads" the server for you - increase the number of batches of especially small elements with an increase in the production time of the batch.

Are you seriously concerned about this feature?
As mentioned above, the market will very quickly adjust the price of over-extracted ore. And the only thing this will lead to is a drop in the price of these ores. If T1 and T2 ores can be disposed of quickly and a lot, then if you fill yourself with T5, what will you do with it in such quantity? It will simply become cheaper and more accessible on the market. And will open access to many other players in the production of T4-T5 components.
Therefore, I consider all the arguments that this is an exploit solely as an attempt to protect my investments in already explored tiles with T3-T4-T5 ore and fear of market competition))). I understand your desire to sit on unique tiles that are scarce on planets and collect rent. But apparently it won't...
Otherwise, all these arguments about the exploit would not exist.
P.S. And yes, even recalibrating 20 charges makes you hate mining units. And if 500 charges a week ... You have to be a very diligent person to play the calibration simulator for so long.

To be honest, with the npc marked and the ship marked next door with good working NQ buyable ships what is the use of emergent gameplay? no-one will buy my designed ship as the costs and effort i invested will never outweigh the cheap ships NQ offers.

In short, once we were told no npc in DU but at the momens the whole game is dominated by them, market, missions, shipselling, all elements of the game that players should fill but were needed to mask that it just does not work if you need to rely on players in the setup DU has chosen.  This also includes the killing of the community page, that page was used to sell stuff, show stuff, promote news and organizations, frankly the killing of that page did alot of damage to the community and to the active backbone of DU but that has been ignored since the moment they killed it.

bots control our hex-rent. Bots control our schematics. Bots control our sales taxes. Bots hand out and receive missions. Bots sell pretty much everything anyone needs. Bots buy stupid almost unlimited amounts of ore and bots hand out a daily stipend. And bots control whether or not we can fire weapons.

what is there actually left to play and strive for other than building?

why is there no energy required to run anything? Why is there no oxygen requirements for our habitats?
why is there no food or farming?

why are there no threatening box life forms that raid our camps?

why are there no mysteries beyond a few lowest possible effort alien cores?

Such constructs become a problem when standing one hex apart. Everyone builds a tower for themselves under Agg. I am not against this, but still you should limit the height of the structure, for example, 1-1.5 km from the soil surface. Then there will be a completely clear free corridor. Yesterday I flew past the towers at an altitude of 3000 m +.
I understand why people raise towers 5-6 km. They don't want to put atmospheric engines on Alioth.
At the same time, I would like to express my deep respect to those builders who designate their towers with light elements (voxels). It is difficult to crash into such even blindly.

This may be true but it does not take anything from the fact that from the player's perspective, the construct is editable and open. There is _no_ communication from NQ stating that as a result of a duplication bug there can be a situation where this happens so there is _NO_ way for players to know this might be the case. So in that respect, this argument is not valid.

As I have made very clear before, I agree that the actions from the player's end were unjustified and they should have known beter. As a result yes, punitive action from the side of NQ is absolutely fair and reasonable but the chosen path is way over the top.

And I see no reasonable arguments against the NQ action is saying it is. There is always those who just say no (just like there are those who just say yes) but the consensus for those who do not agree with he direction NQ takes here seems to be that..

Which was dumb on their end but does not justify a permaban IMO and that of many others in and outside the DU community. In fact by this being in the public eye already should make NQ more cautious of possible fallout from an over reaction

All true but there is a few things that NQ continues to ignore and does not take accountability for or ownership of:

There is no solid, well defined way in which NQ handles reports on exploits and bugs, it's all ad-hoc and takes forever as these go through the ticket system which is backed up for weeks without any triage being done except for maybe connection issues.

Communication on this is and has been at best vague and easily open to several interpretations.

This is really not that hard:
Once reported and seen, NQ declares an exploit or bug in public and an entry in TOS makes that announcement binding and defines it as a "do not abuse this as doing so will result in a bannable offense".

This both creates clarity quickly and allows NQ time to go in and fix this.

NQ has a huge list of more or less high impact bugs and issues which are known and reported, some have been in the support queue for 5+ weeks without even been looked at. Escalations to CS staff/leads have no effect. Generally, ticket based support by NQ is pretty much so backdated that it becomes meaningless. Well known issues in game remain unattended for weeks on end, patches which break important game functionality are left in as-is without any indication of a fix for these issues.

In general, NQ needs to stop being offended when people point out the obvious and improve their style of, frequency of and context for communication. A lot of things that happen are due to NQ being slow, vague, inconsistent and to be honest often using language which seems to come straight out of Google Translate. Have an objective look at the TOS and see how it's really badly written and is generally littered with incorrect use of capital letters and punctuation.

Bottom line here IMO is that NQ still refuses to see that there are definite parts of all this that are in their court and while it certainly does not justify the player's actions, it does mean that NQ needs to take ownership of this which they are not doing. And most of what "us" who do not agree with this action are pointing out is exactly that, not a blanket "set them free" as quite a few of the ones in the community who choose to oppose our view seem to be implying.

Due to the way NQ handled this, there are now a number of publications on this issue which are geared against NQ, some are grossly overlooking all the facts because it gets them viewers but they are having an effect  which is fully due to the way NQ handled this and now, instead of taking the opportunity to reflect and choose to do some PR repair work,  NQ seems to just double down on there position.

All of the above obviously IMO, not saying I am absolutely right or entirely accurate (as I obviously do not have all the facts) even when I believe I am not wrong here.

17 pages of demagoguery. Let's all the same turn to the primary sources. At least those that we all see and accept.
    1. The first post in this thread. Quote:

    2. EULA referenced by an NQ employee. https://www.dualuniverse.game/legal/eula#article-5
    Quote:

Many people assume that NQ has banned players for gaining access. Although it is clearly and clearly visible for what reason it happened. NQ's actions do not contradict themselves or any other promises.
If the guys who got access to the market wrote with colored voxels on the wall "John was here" then nothing would have happened or the consequences would have been minimal. I think that NQ would have left this inscription as a meme and a landmark.

However, players instead began to remove not only voxels but also market modules. Where the players had in-game property and warrants. Did these players have negative experiences as a result of this action? Yes. Were they inconvenienced? Yes. Accordingly, a clear violation of clause 5.2. user agreement.

Dispute then about what? Many facts are distorted and instead of arguments people are already beginning to get personal, trying to justify their position.

Let me remind you that NQ clearly said that everything is allowed that does not prevent other players from playing. And this does not mean PVP and other game moments. All of them. When you attack a player in PVP or attack his base, your aggression is sanctioned by the game. Your opponent is a specific target. And you make decisions about the attack. There was clearly an action (albeit out of ignorance) that prevented a large number of impersonal players and made it impossible to use their items.

A similar question has already been raised regarding the construction of unreasonably high walls to interfere with other players. And the answer was the same. If everyone deliberately creates obstacles, there will be sanctions. Proof here. NQ-Naerais created a topic in Rules & Announcements

Why then it seems to some that NQ are inconsistent in their actions.
For those who spray foam from the mouth and are unable to understand the first time, I will summarize.
GUYS NOT FUNNED FOR RDMS! Not for market access! They were banned for what they did next and did it INTENTIONALLY! Because 50+ times to select voxels and elements and put them in your pocket is not a random action!

    Hello Noveans,

At this stage it’s hard to ignore that the “Market Heist” has definitely caused a stir of dialogue and reactions both in our community and on the internet.

We have taken some time to look at the situation in more detail: the actions of these players are not ok, not condoned, and will not be tolerated. We stand by our decision, and we’d like to better explain it.

Most of what Novaquark builds within the game world, such as markets, institutes or the Arkship is not a player-owned construct. It is a part of the game play designed to serve all players. There are exceptions, like shipwrecks, which are designed for salvaging, and clearly communicated as such.

We did, indeed, state to players that if RDMS is not properly set on a construct, and it results in theft, it’s part of the game and we won’t act upon it. This is to acknowledge that treason can happen in an organization, for instance, and is part of the emergent gameplay we’re trying to promote.

Now, this does obviously not apply to NQ-built constructs, which are designed to serve a specific purpose in the game. It is obvious that these constructs, owned by NQ accounts or Aphelia, are not meant to be interacted with in the same manner as player constructs. Besides, they may contain some highly overpowered and unbalanced elements which were never meant to fall in the hands of players. So the situation with the market is clearly covered by section 5.2 of the EULA: “You must refrain from engaging in any behaviour that could harm NOVAQUARK’s image and/or reputation, that could harm one or more other Users or have a negative impact on their gaming experience, or that is detrimental to the proper functioning of the Game.”

Finally, and for the record, the issue with the market did not result in a wrongly-set RDMS, but rather in a duplication bug. Part of what we use is the same tools as players to build constructs. We create one district, then duplicate it. Something went wrong in the duplication process of one of the markets, which resulted in players being able to edit it.

Were we harsh? Yes. But we had previously communicated that we would no longer tolerate abuses of bugs and issues. We do realize that perhaps this started innocently enough in that someone pressed “B” while standing on a market. But it went beyond this, and that shows intention. The players involved indicated that they reported the issue, and after further investigation, one did, though not by following the proper feedback channel: they pinged a staff account on Discord in the middle of the night. We’ve clearly stated that staff do not respond to pings on Discord, and that the reporting method for exploits and bugs of this nature is either via our ticket system, or via a community manager on the forums.

Even a proper attempt to inform us about an exploit doesn’t mean that it’s OK to go on and abuse it. Communicating an exploit to the NQ staff doesn’t serve as a way to absolve the players, it’s only meant to ensure that we fix the issue - it’s not a free pass to use an exploit. The banned players destroyed a player market by dismantling it, and the fact that they communicated with us via Reddit with a request not to be banned shows that they knew what they were doing was wrong. They posted on Reddit, proud of their ‘achievement’ and of the destruction.

In the end, repairing the damage cost us hours of manpower across multiple departments, which could have been invested into further progressing the game.

That is why we take this seriously.

Here are a couple of things that we’d like to reiterate:
We are in beta.  Things aren’t always going to work as intended. But we have a persistent, single-shard universe, and altering its foundations impacts all players. Bug Fixes aren’t instant. They take manpower time to find, investigate, fix, test and roll out. We try to make sure that fixing a bug doesn’t introduce a dozen more. As beta players, we count on you to help us and report bugs, not abuse them. We believe that this is fairly standard for most games.   We genuinely hope this brings some clarity to the situation, and ask you all to remember this is a communal effort. We’re in this together.

    Sincerely,
    The Novaquark Team

Ok. I do not claim complete knowledge. Therefore, I will indicate those places that you clearly assume and distort.
    1.
Do you know exactly how the database is implemented? Or do you suppose? The fact that links to the markets were lost is a fact. As in the game, when you remove an engine or machine, the link is lost.

    2.
So days or hours? 10 or 100 players?
It is about these assumptions that I speak. You base your judgments on them.
Regardless of how many people beat one person, everyone will be responsible personally.
Even if the developers did a bad job of the database, even if this is the approach of 10 years ago, it does not justify what was done.
I don’t understand at all how arrogant or stupid it is to steal from the developer market and then admit it to them. What were they hoping for?

I will explain my position. You may be interested in this (but I'm not sure about it). )))

The developers in the game act as a game master. They don't take part in the game. They make the rules. If a player applies everything that is allowed in relation to another player, this will be ignored. (except what was described in the post about bugs). In our case, there was an attempt to attack the game master. This was suppressed. Everyone should know their boundaries. And the guys suffered exactly for that.

About the user agreement. Yes, I agree that the wording is very vague. But this is a common game practice. Unfortunately, nothing belongs to us here ...)))
