No my answer is if something is so unpopular that they can't get enough people to do it why should it be forced on people.
World of Warcraft learned this when they realised how unpopular PvP servers were and made it opt in, as did Elite Dangerous.

Why does so much space have to be given over to PvP? If most people hate PvP which is apparent because of the lack of it without PvP occurring, if you don't force people to PvP.

As to PvP v PvE, ever seen a PvE pirate harass the same player? post the comments on a third party site? or for that matter complain about players being able to get better defences?

PvE also adds risk and a lot more people seem to enjoy that than they do PvP.

What I find startling is the fact that PvP gamers always talk about how good PvP is but they only ever seem to want to attack non-PvP players in ships that cannot fight back, against players with no interest in learning all of the skills and abilities to PvP. They never seem to form into opposing groups in areas with the aim of attacking other PvP players.

Hold on, if PvP is so highly loved by so many, surely there must be thousands of people feely engaging in PvP, as so many love it.

Why do you need to force people into PvP if it is such a great thing?

It doesn’t matter what the PvP’ers want or what the PvE’ers want, it all comes down to what generates the most money for the game so it can continue to exist. If the PvP’ers are getting bored because people are staying in the safe zone, fight each other, stop trying to force everyone to your play style. End of story. Now, just opening a PvP thread every few days is not going to change anything, could have posted in the other 2625 threads about this that already exist that sank to the bottom of the forums for lack of interest.

The Alioth/Thades/Madis safe zones really shouldn’t drop.   The actual hook of the game is a newbie seeing the scale of the game by managing to get into orbit, across a couple hundred SU of space, and to manage to land on another planet.  and the current three newbie planets is a nice amount that offers some choice between "bioformed temperate"/"unnatural disaster desert"/"algae ice ball".

    —————

If anything the current PvP “vets" should be up in arms that current “PvP reward ores" have the same risk as newbie region “PvE reward ores”.  Considering planets with the most interesting rewards should have some combination of atmospheric PvP or territory control.   Along with the expected hoarding of those high end rewards when the “price of risk” for them are at the lowest they will ever be.

Actually no. The NDA being lifted means you can talk about the game now. Theoretical conversations however from before the NDA was lifted are also fine. It is just the game and what occurred with the game and NQ during that period would not be.  (This is NOT legal advice)

I must admit I just did 220 steel based voxels and that was apparently the minimum using 2200 steel. That is insane for an object I wanted 10m3 of.

Given the game has only just started and most industry players are still working on their own set ups, it is very unlikely. This is like yelling at a baby because they can't drive yet.

The main problem here is that the entire beta release was forced/rushed (most likely for financial reasons). NQ was never able to prove their server technology before the beta release. The lag, pending operation errors, low fps, and general bugs etc. are not new problems. So when you open up and start running the servers 24/7 for the first time ever, you obviously (they where told, believe me) end up with the current situation.

A failed game is one that is no longer profitable and so it fails. It can be made as long as it wants, so long as it is profitable. Look at Star Citizen, if the funding stopped so would the game, which is why they keep selling more and more ships.

If reference to RAM, I am running 48GB DDR4

often the game goes over 50% of that RAM, so at the moment 32GB is the minimum you want.

    Hello dear NQ Team,
I would like to discuss a problem, that I am sure many others would agree with.

I ask you to share information about restarts, updates or problems with the server here in the forum.
For example, you could create a new category for this (mayxbe something like: server status or server status messages). But this would also be possible in the area of announcements.

I have already received a lot of feedback on the Discord Server and I also share the following opinion.
The DU Discord server is way too confusing and restless. It is very uncomfortable for me to even bother with it.

If you create an area for such messages on this forum and make sure that no one can reply, only the information can be read, everyone can relax and read the information they want to have here on the forum and see what's going on.

Personally, I think communication is a major weak point at Novaquark, and this is able to create a lot of frustration and anger.

    Let's fix that together.

    Thanks and Greetings,
    Luukullus

FryingDoom reacted to NQ-Nyzaltar in New Character Model reveal!
    Hi everyone!

The new character model is an artistic re-imagining of the original design, and is one of many steps we’re taking to update the look and feel of the game. The goal of this redesign was not only to create something functional and realistic for interstellar travel, but also come up with something memorable, appealing, and instantly recognizable.
