I'm well aware of the docking weight exploit and see it abused regularly, it's infuriating as it's allowed a certain org to ferry their entire pvp fleet around the system for essentially free using ultra light warp platforms with their entire pvp fleet docked to it. It's absolutely bullshit.

It's also been reported back in Alpha...

I read the OP as a complaint that the devs had the audacity to fool around in their own game (lol).

Then I read some responses that were in favor of bitching at the devs for this 'omg slight of justice' (more lol).

Then I read some responses of others trying to set the dev-bashers straight about some things (nod).

Then I see in-fighting and arguing and a whole lot of mayhem (sigh).

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Its a game. Its their game. Let them have their secrets!

Don't we all have more pressing issues to pressure them about?

    Have you?

How does the 37 tiles claimed impact you?

How did my Guide character in Anarchy Online being literally unkillable impact you?

If you have issues with what JC is doing - uninstall and cancel your sub as JC is basically this game.

Correct - we had a very different set of rules - but the rules of the game world did not apply to us.

The rules of the game world do not apply to JC.

Him owning 37 tiles does not impact your gameplay.

    Get over it.

This isn't the T20 eve scandal. There is zero impact. Just uninstall if you're salty about it.

In fact, if you comment that you're uninstalling - I'll make another DU alt to cover the loss of your sub and the stupid drama you create over non issues.

Love too, sounds like a idea I'd want to crash into at speed.  Alas, I cant explain how to do an exploit.

No we don't agree at all and you are just trying to spin my answer to suit your "issue". You are not entitled to "an answer" here and I frankly hope NQ does not respond to this as it's a non issue and they have better things to do that waste time on this.

You imply you do not trust JC is able to realize that having his NQ account own tiles needs to remain isolated and  not impact he game world and that you need to get confirmation from NQ that this will not happen. I say, JC is sensible enough to understand that going in and owes you nothing at all in the form of an explanation or confirmation.

Well, on the side topic about if Alioth (or any of the current safe zone) suddenly becomes PVP, I can assure you the loss of subscriptions will outweigh the gain of any new subscriptions because of that change. So as a business decision, it would be in their best interest to leave the 'safe zones' as they are, and simply expand the universe with more systems that are hostile with greater rewards and reasons to venture to them.

As it stands now, this game is 'one system'. Hardly the "Universe" they tout it as. Expanding outward, to many systems, is what they should focus on... not cutting back on what exists and alienating a chunk of their playerbase for no good reason than to troll their own customers.

Being a "paying customer" (Whatever sense of importance you get from saying that) gives you no entitlement whatsoever to be informed on why JC has these tiles. Whether he uses this area as a testing ground for his work on Lua or testing building changes or whatever.. Who cares.

It seems from this thread that OP is pretty much the only person trying to make an issue out of this while everyone else could not care less. JC can do whatever he wants in the game he dreamed up and designed as long as it does not directly impact whatever we, as "paying customers" do. And me for one implicitly trust and expect JC to know and understand that very well and live by that. I do not need his confirmation or any official word from NQ to believe that to be true. And honestly, I think most others do as well.

Honestly that was my biggest frustration with the interview.

JC needs to give players clear direction NOW on where is and isn't safe forever. It seems that he himself does't have his mind made up.

This is a huge issue - we have people who are building up on sanc because they are expecting Alioth to go pvp. These people are at a massive disadvantage from Alioth based players because Sanc players must haul all their ore in while Alioth players fly a few grids out and dig out much of what they need.

If it turns out that Alioth goes pvp, the players who built on Alioth expecting it to remain safe are salty.
If it turns out that Alioth stays pve, the players who built on Sanc have wasted days and tons of space fuel hauling ore from Alioth to Sanc just to keep their production running.

There are absolutely parts of the new player experience that I think desperately need help.

For example, Sanctuary as a whole is a trap because you cannot mine unclaimed tiles and it's not hard to mine out your own tile. So newbies end up clicking 20L rocks for hours when instead had the game told them to go set up a claim on Alioth they would be far better off. Oh but now they don't want to rebase in Alioth because they built their factory on Sanctuary...MOVE IT

    The starting package is abysmal.

They should get some free basic industries, a handful of s crates, a refinery, metal worker and an m assembler at start would help tremendously. Sure sure you can buy all that easy but noobs don't know to and spend days handrefining and handcrafting things and complaining that it all takes too long while the reality is that they could have bought all their starting industries to jumpstart their production for the 100k they got.

Teach newbies to turn their hovercraft into a plane. Hovercraft are useless in this game and inferior to planes.

Well, ain't this a pvp based game? You will be getting tricked, baited manipulated, lured, pirated etc. For me it looks legit tactic to be used to destroy, loot other players equipment. You are getting 15 min warning to gtfo, otherwise deal with consequences.

Well technically PVP is not happening in a safe zone, your ship is just taken outside of safe zone and then the crime happens, super exciting about this. Amazing stuff !
I Will never submit ticket for this.. I am more then happy to loose my ship like this just to find out that this is possible.

Well to be honest, how can this be and exploit, you have already 2 ingame mechanics to prevent this from happening.

    1) Just take a territory unit with you, claim that territory, and you can mine there for week, then just take off territory unit and go to the next spot.
    2) Just build your ship on L size dynamic core , and then nobody could dock your ship on another core.

I think this is super interesting content, will try it out, sounds super fun and interesting to do. Ofcourse there will be some guy that looses hes ship, but hey just have mechanics to avoid that, just think with your head. I would like NQ to never change this, it just makes this game more challenging and forcing you to plan out your mining operations more carefully.  Like in EVE Online, you think you are safe in hi-sec, but that actually not like that, people can gank you anyways. Super cool mechanics perfectly done NQ !!!

This is a non issue  - all the newbie speeders can be turned into planes.

Covering 30km at ~400kmh takes about 5 minutes.

You can buy a few more engines and push that speeder up to 700km/h.

Travel time is a major component of DU just like it was in EVE.

Only thing I would change is adding the tutorial step to turn your speeder into a plane.

    Apples and oranges.

FPS issues in the starting zone are a valid concern - because they do not represent the rest of the game. Once you leave the newbie zone, you have far fewer FPS issues.

Travel times are not a valid concern. Travel times are a fundamental aspect of DU.

Yeah, I mean, I'm all for improving the new player experience since it's so important for a game like this, but if players are getting turned off explicitly because of 20-30km travel times, then they simply aren't going to enjoy this game regardless. This is not a game for people who want instant gratification, and no amount of improvements to the new player experience are going to change that.

Mordgier got a reaction from SLAINE202 in What happens when all resources are mined?
This is as productive as trying to explain economics to a tree stump - but here we go:

You having 300 million does not indicate that it came from login rewards.

It doesn't matter that you sold to players. What matters is that the players who sold to bots got money that they spent on your sales - which they undoubtedly did. Bots inject more actively used money into the economy than daily logins because people who are selling to bots do so with the intent to spend that money rather than people who just log in, get their 100k and do nothing with it. Many people get 100k on login have no use for it - YOU yourself are a prime example of that 100k not being injected into the economy. As is any player who simply has no need to buy/sell anything or is building their own stuff out of principle. I do not need that 100k because I am surrounded by crates of everything I need. This is why people in the org aren't going to the market - it's more hassle than going to a container.

In fact the case that the ONLY reason you have 300m is entirely because of ore bots is far more realistic than the suggestion that it is due to daily login rewards and people rushing to the market to spend their dole payments. People who are on a set income are far more hesitant to spend that income than those who dump L containers of ore on the market.

This isn't a "what I do" vs "what you do" issue; yet you keep seeing it as you vs me and yet keep posting personal insults like links to the Dunning Kruger effect and at the same time take a holier than thou attitude as if 'this forum' is beneath you - while clearly failing to see that the things you complain about apply to you.

Links need to be able to be color coded. Links need to be able to be named. Direction arrows should be BIG and easily visible. Links should show from what they are linking. Links should be movable
    Wants:
Links to bottlenecks should have an indicator. Meaning that by looking at an Assembler the link to the input container that is empty and holding up production should alert. Containers should show what is linked TO them Be able to unhook a link from the view of attached links in the assember/container view Drop down selection of linkable containers in assemblers etc

The absurdity is in that if Devs wanted to be sneaky and doing scary bad things they'd be doing it with non NQ-Name alts.

Complaining about NQ-Whatever owning something is pretty absurd.

Oh no - a dev holds 37 territories!

I saw those territories yesterday long before this post and couldn't possibly care less.

I'd be concerned if a player had them - but devs, in a beta? Who cares....well I suppose apparently I know "who" cares - the OP - but it's pretty silly...

NQ-Whatever isn't an in game player.

GMs etc having weird GM only things isn't new. You can go back to Everquest days, GMs had their own zone that basically was a hangout spot. Anarchy Online also had GM zones. I dunno about other games but I assume so - nevermind GM gear that essentially made them invulnerable. I did volunteered as an Anarchy 'Guide' back in the day and my Guide char had godlike gear that no player could ever get. Was that a problem? No...because only my GUIDE char had it.

NQ-Whatever doing funky stuff is fine.

Now if an NQ employee made a char and gave that char 37 districts and didn't have an NQ tag - yeah ok I'd grab my trusty -------E

Cause that's abuse of power and is the same shit that happened in EVE with dev favoritism....

If you want to be upset about stuff NQ does - go be upset about NQ teleporting ships back to players after they were lost in PvP. An NQ tagged char having 37 zones isn't an issue or misuse of power.

So ok - fine it scales to 8 - but at a certain point it clearly won't matter - and I am under the assumption that anything beyond 16 cores for DU will be pointless - but was hoping someone out there with an overkill build could confirm.
