I'm here to show my support, I'm not as brainy to be able to contribute much.

The Kadpaks have 4 dimensional storage ability, I don't know if the tech will find its way into other applications. Might be able to help with explaining some things about the nano former.
I know you said explaining it in our current terms, I just wanted to say sucking up a pool of hydrocarbons with a hand held beam might take some tricky explanation.

heres the backstory section if you didnt already see it http://www.dualthegame.com/backstory

The Cinderfall Syndicate is calling on the community in search of master builders and architects interested in creating as well as managing the creation of some of the most important construction projects within its domain.

    Emberstone:

A Planetary Capital City situated near the Novark, to be open to the public and to serve as a major hub for trade, travel, and gathering. The following is a list of the key features which are currently being discussed.

The Grand Space Elevator - While at its core it is intended to function as a point of major travel throughout the galaxy. Its overall goal is to be a marvel of engineering, a symbolic gateway to new players as they take their first steps into the vast galaxy.
Commercial District - (FlameFeather Mall) A series of stalls, buildings and or outlets situated near the space elevator which can be rented by organizations and individuals for either self promotion or retail use. Funds collected through this system go towards facility maintenance and funding newbie mission terminals on Alioth.
The Battle Arena - A large arena to support both ground based combat training and competitive tournaments. Its relative scale and composition are currently only theoretical as they are dependent on currently unknown or unspecified gameplay features. We'll need designers willing to come up with area designs for combatant, possibly viewing stand.
A large automated mass transit system - Given the large scale size of the project, a comprehensive transit system will need to be constructed to facilitate movement within Emberstone. Planned features include a large public docking network and internal transit vehicles as well as regular shuttles or transport buses to and from the Arkship, as well as around Emberstone.
Town Hall - (Phoenix Hall) A grand central structure overlooking Emberstone to act as a “guild hall” for the Cinderfall Syndicate. It is to include various floors to be used for diplomatic purposes as well an area dedicated to housing memorials to famous and or illustrious individuals who have contributed to Cinderfall or the community.
Syndicate Housing Area - A separate area which features player housing and storage for both member organizations within the Syndicate as well as distinguished groups and individuals who contribute constructively.

    Space Station:
    (Name to be decided later)

An orbital body situated directly over the Grand Space Elevator that will eventually become an extension of Emberstone. Details on its construction and core features are still under debate and will be provided when it becomes available.
The station, if possible will be linked via the space elevator, if not we will work on a public shuttle system from the ground to the station. We hope this may serve as one, of probably many, of the ports of entry to Alioth.
We hope to provide, with these facilities, a way for newbies or veterans to find missions, content, and camaraderie.

Proposed projects are under continuous development and subject to revision, alteration, and cancellation; any feedback is welcome.
Any parties interested in being part in this historic endeavor please contact Astro, Neo, or Dark. (Astrophil, Neopolitan, DarkTemplar).
    Thank you.

I just had an idea, wouldn't it be awesome if we could have our own personal hover board. A fun way to traverse planetary environments that looks like we're "surfing" the land. Just a thought, like I'm sure there could be some way the devs could put in some hover technology and a means for propulsion that's not too large for said hover board.

i have gotten the word out to a number of people, they all found the idea interesting but where rather reserved.

but there just is not very much that has been released yet. and people don't seem to want to get their hopes up when a game is this early in production. too many failed kick starters and steam green lights seems to be the theme of their apprehension.

once we start seeing some solid alpha video with more game features i think the hype might start getting a bit more noticeable.

I think there's quite a bit of interest for a pre-alpha game, and that will grow in time. Novaquark as a name probably isn't so well known and so I imagine a lot of people are taking a 'watch and see' approach at the moment.

I have seen the 2h leaked footage and I must say I am disappointed by NMS.

Comparing it to DU would be like to compare orange and apples.

Here is what I hate in NMS:
No multiplayer gameplay Punished by Police AI for harvesting/killing things on planet and in space. Cartoony visual experience with a lot of fog as a general rule for handling level of details. (LOD) Crappy space station design, with only one room and a trade terminal. The whole thing have quintillion planets and lifeforms, but without anything to do on it beside "point and click" to scan/harvest and repeat. You can "name" every lifeforms/planet you are the first to discover... but infact you are not the first to discover it since its crawling with "abandoned outpost" -> making true immersion an impossibility. Beside, no one will ever get to the same planet as you. and if this happen anyway, they will just leave and find another one to get naming rights for themselves. Space combat looked like point and click ONLY, no room for emergent gameplay, you only get the one ship you can "upgrade", and its stuck with you. Once you have it upgraded, you can head toward the center of the universe and enjoy the cinematic and you are done with the game. Nothing to "build". Price too high for a tamagochi simulator. Perfect for a true casual player on console. But not for me.

On the other hand what I like on DU is what NMS is lacking:
One unique multiplayer server allowing for MASSIVE multiplayer gameplay. You can build anything, anywhere, and it stays for everyone to see and use. Unlimited number of planet with territory control worth fighting for. Player driven economy Sandbox for emergent gameplay.

I bet NQ will add the functionality to "name" a planet if you are the first to discover it, or if you own >90% of it. It would not be a great deal for them.

I was a little disappointed when I heard how buggy it was really. I will still pick it up, just because I want to explore. I didn't buy in to any of the hype personally, but that is the one thing I am glad they got right.

That said, I can't believe a redditor spent $1300 for a leaked copy of NMS. Like damn man, couldn't wait two weeks?

Ill just add the piece from the front Dual Universe game faq on how economies will work.

    http://www.dualthegame.com/faq
    "
How will the economy work? (what follows is described for the purpose of the alpha and due to change as the game progresses)
The economy will be a market economy primarily based on buy/sell orders of raw materials and elements. Prices on the market will be determied by supply and demand.
Unique items, such as a well crafted and constructed spaceship will go to auction, we hope players can reward and appreciate builders and architects, whilst those with no desire to build their own crafts can still access sophisticated constructs.
The passion behind Dual Universe is to have an emergent economy with minimun intervention by the developers. The Arkship will have rudimentary market with trading NPCs who will buy and sell various items and resources to provide early stage gameplay and bootstrap the economy. But other than that it will be up to players to build and manage market places. These will inevitably compete against each other (“market PvP”) and fuel other aspects of a civilisation; security, logistics, accessability etc.

Sorry mammoth, everyone is just on edge right now because we've been having a fight over most of these topics for over a month.

I accept your desire that you think urging the game into a direction that you want is the right path, but its just one path of many.

the technology behind Dual Universe has been in the works from JC Baillie and his supporters for a long time. They aren't going to switch their minds from a Massive game to single shards or split instances.
Most people here as you have seen are fanatical for a true MMO game finally. I'm very excited myself for it.

This concern that bad things will happen to people and that's why you want to protect yourself from the world. There are some mechanics in place for that.

1.) Finding other players or organisations for safety. There are at least 4 umbrella organisations, a few of them offer mutual protection.
2.) Arkified areas will be player created high security zones, the full workings of how safe and how permanent are a little gray. but they'll exist.

Welcome to dual universe, it was an interesting first day for you. As suggested please look around, the Player made FAQ has good quick answers to many questions.
    See you around

Evening ladies and gentleman, first post here!

I have  been lurking the forums for a little while now and have been thinking rather the same thing. - that people are becoming  'bittervets' and the game isn't even in release yet..quite something when you think about it.  As a whole, I genuinely enjoy the sense of community here and don't notice the "toxicity" of posts except by a scant few people who seemingly have nothing better to do than snark attack at newcomers for being just that - newcomers.

To the people who are "sick and tired of the same questions", I say teach a man to fish, rather than giving him some fish.

To the people who are freshly coming in from their various corners to join the Dual Universe community, welcome.

I hope we forumwarriors can live up to the premise of the game itself, become a community to learn and grow and expand with - together.

    Hi everyone,

    I am Dociel.

    Thank you for your attention.

Ok, that was the very short and lazy version! For the longer, read below.

A bit about me, bullet point and random style:
    - I love sci-fi (books, movies, games, you name it)
    - I am getting (too) close to 30 y.o.
    - I live in Ireland, but am French of birth.
    - I was a huge fan of CCP Dust514 until the shutdown of its server this year.
    - I ride a Half-Bike, and that is as cool as it is dangerous.
    - I am waiting to play No Man's Sky, which will allow me to wait for DU!!! (plus DU is a french developing team for once! #proud)
    - I am learning to prepare awesome meat marinades and rhum arrange.
    - I got a basic ship for Star Citizen, but the feeling is not the same as for NMS or DU. It's a "pay to see", sort of.
    - I am the sort of person that is having a lot of projects and ideas, but never actually does them.
    - My favorite color is orange.
    - I dream of building a cloud city in DU, and will probably end up drifting naked in space.

Well, I guess that's it for now!

    Cheers,

    Dociel

I know I am late to the party on this question, but...

I am a current EVE Online player, and plex two accounts every month. I am NOT one of those guys the plays 37 hours a day nine days  a week and I like being able to do fun things and money making things. EVE has free expansions because the majority of the players use plexes each month (at $20), rather than pay the $15 a  month sub.

Those that want to sub CAN, those with enough money can buy plex'es for in-game shinies, and those with the ability can take their in-game shinies and buy game time with it...everyone wins, and every plex sold is actually 25% MORE money for the company. As always, the above is purely my opinion.
