It would be nice to have a new section in the forum for new players (introductions). In turn the Arkship Pub becomes organization only (and / or gets a slight name tweak to be more apparent).

This would cover the certain demand for a split between introductions and orgs. Of course you could also make a new section just for orgs BUT this would be more work as you'd have to move (by yourself or through a mod) all org threads to the new section.

Instead, make a new introduction section and leave old introductions in the arkship pub.

Simple-ish. You could also leave it as it is, but long-term it will just convolute things in my opinion. A split is more helpful for a wider audience I like to believe. And the least amount of work and largest success can be achieved by adding a new section for player introductions in which future introductions can go.

    But that's just me.

E: I saw that you mentioned new forum sections coming up soon, perhaps this will be covered already. I still suggest to use the current Arkship Pub for orgs and a new section for player introductions due to the reasons stated above. Less work for most, I guess.

    Be smart about it then.

And sometimes you just need luck or good timing. Or friends for a foundation. Sometimes you are just out of luck.

    That is how it is.

And hey. You don't get far (after release)? Disband or merge and join another moderate one or look for those willing to merge into yours. No use struggling when you are not satisfied while alternatives are there.

But let's outsource this discussion. I'll make a thread about it later when I can. Half a day from now on.

I couldn't help but think of this - after of course seeing these kind of threads several times.

No offense, new community member and OP. You are new, you apparently did not see the other threads but it explains why some here react like they do.

I had to look up a translation to "freeloader" to find the fitting meaning (or other meanings) and it's indeed not nice. On the other hand, a player should know that one other user (or a set of posts) doesn't automatically equal an overall community. In short, being insulted isn't nice but assuming it equals the community as a whole at the same time could be more insulting.

At least I read "bad first greeting equals community" in the sentence "That's a real great way to welcome someone to the community" (between the lines).

Moving on, I do suggest using one the existing threads. Active duplicate threads just confuse users.

    Just to chime in briefly.

The large orgs always have advantages in terms of visibility and thus recruitment - and of course there are other advantages such as manpower. While on first glance it may seem like a "bottleneck" and problematic for smaller orgs, I think it's fine, really.

Not everyone goes for the large ones, or in other words, not everyone can join the same select large orgs. There are differences in the end such as themes covered and whatnot - or people simply like larger or smaller orgs and thus look around more. Despite large ones there will be no monopoly, in essence.

You can also do your part by being different or unique in the themes you cover and how you present yourself.

To summarize: Not all join the first org they see (no matter how small or large), some compare, some don't, smaller orgs can still compete in other areas if not manpower.

If there's a long war between factions or alliances and one side finally takes over a planet, it would seem logical or good to be able to rename it for obvious reasons. For example it was a capital of an Empire once. Another Empire took it. They rename it because the old one had the name of the losing Empire in it.

It makes sense if this does not happen too often. Perhaps cap it at every two to six months or something. Or, in my book, more people benefit if you can rename them more than once than the other way around I think. But that's just me.

Once you technically (via management system etc.) own or claim it you name it.

You claim it you name it. Catchy.

    Greetings,

we are still looking for the following:

    --- --- --- --- ---

    Analytic assistant

We intend to boost both our security and science division with emphasis on threat assessment or scientific analysis respectively. For this, we look for someone who does not mind rather "dry" work including polls and more. Ideally you have some previous experience or a remotely connected professional background.

Alternatively, you do not mind acquiring experience or interest in the related areas over time.

    --- --- --- --- ---

Opposed to service and security tasks, the scientific branch can already shine without an actual (playable) game to some extend. We also don't mind service personnel, as they can include Engineers and Designers.

If you are interested or if you have feedback, send a private message.

Perhaps this can help some reconsider a potential nuclear war with total annihilation:

So, heres todays charts! Yes, now multiple!

I added a few things, A total members over time graph, a total gain per day for the top ten and then an organization member number contribution!

I also changed a few colours.
Empire is now a light-ish blue.
The Aether is now a light red/pink.

These colours are chosen based on the fact that they need to be different from others, not related to their official colours.

Terran Union has solidified a lead as the number one org (in terms of numbers) on the community site over night.

**^ Negative numbers are not counted in the chart above, so if someone has lost members, it is not seen.

    - Rather OOC so far by the way -

No need to get the pitchforks out (yet).

We will so far favor de-escalation and applying soft measures first. I also would not overestimate the "for hire" part - they won't be classic mercenaries.

This isn't intended as some sort of corporate security force or PMC with a more official touch for hire, always quick to change affiliations or whatnot - despite being ironically initiated by a corporation.

Perhaps consider it a project rather? The idea is to eventually tie them all to one major city, a large district of one or various moderate settlements. Officers deployed would at the same time be inclined or required to become citizens of said city or alliance. This means anyone can take part but it could also mean this force becomes part of something once there are 'deals' in place. Due to how it is set up so far this would work best for neutral or alliance cities where basically several parties take part. If a major urban center is given, this could remain 'standalone' (but still tied to it).

On another note we so far plan to create a website for this if interest increases. If you are interested, whether as someone to request this force or to join this specific force, send a PM.

Be careful however. Things can change quickly when you are "on top" or further up on the ladder. Things may seem different or "tempting" then and you could be inclined to act more offensive and care-free when dealing with others. Sometimes it can be fine, often depending on how you react to others you simply make yourself new enemies.

Some self restraint would seem suitable. Heck, it is suitable in general.
