Not the end of the world for me - concept would have been interesting however.

I don't think they would have been the largest commodity stolen later on however, enough people would play it safer. Thus, see above.

    Besides, think of mental scarring.

Perhaps this can help some reconsider a potential nuclear war with total annihilation:

So, heres todays charts! Yes, now multiple!

I added a few things, A total members over time graph, a total gain per day for the top ten and then an organization member number contribution!

I also changed a few colours.
Empire is now a light-ish blue.
The Aether is now a light red/pink.

These colours are chosen based on the fact that they need to be different from others, not related to their official colours.

Terran Union has solidified a lead as the number one org (in terms of numbers) on the community site over night.

**^ Negative numbers are not counted in the chart above, so if someone has lost members, it is not seen.

    - Rather OOC so far by the way -

No need to get the pitchforks out (yet).

We will so far favor de-escalation and applying soft measures first. I also would not overestimate the "for hire" part - they won't be classic mercenaries.

This isn't intended as some sort of corporate security force or PMC with a more official touch for hire, always quick to change affiliations or whatnot - despite being ironically initiated by a corporation.

Perhaps consider it a project rather? The idea is to eventually tie them all to one major city, a large district of one or various moderate settlements. Officers deployed would at the same time be inclined or required to become citizens of said city or alliance. This means anyone can take part but it could also mean this force becomes part of something once there are 'deals' in place. Due to how it is set up so far this would work best for neutral or alliance cities where basically several parties take part. If a major urban center is given, this could remain 'standalone' (but still tied to it).

On another note we so far plan to create a website for this if interest increases. If you are interested, whether as someone to request this force or to join this specific force, send a PM.

Be careful however. Things can change quickly when you are "on top" or further up on the ladder. Things may seem different or "tempting" then and you could be inclined to act more offensive and care-free when dealing with others. Sometimes it can be fine, often depending on how you react to others you simply make yourself new enemies.

Some self restraint would seem suitable. Heck, it is suitable in general.

I suggest increasing the amount of featured posts by about 5. From my observations so far, new posts tend to be among the featured posts, in theory giving you the ability to somewhat flush out existing posts, replacing them with your own.

Don't get me wrong, I get the idea of new posts being visible so they are seen, but as some also tend to release several and not just one post, I suggest that the amount of featured posts is raised by a bit.

Besides my or rather our support, I think it is a good idea. While combat will of course be tested somehow once it's integrated, this gives the community more focus on actual bug fixing and giving ideas compared to a larger portion just trying to smash each other's skulls in.

I think that if a larger part of the community focuses on features, mechanics and errors rather than pure combat then we all benefit.

You can resolve this very quickly by having any purchased DACs not exist in the game until the player goes to an ark ship terminal or uses the game menus to "release" them, it could be as simple as "You have 20 DAC on your account would you like to activate one now or transfer them to your inventory?"

Obviously if you are going to sell them on in game market you need to release them to become an ingame item with all the risks that are involved with that but if a player is purchasing DACs for themselves from NQ for personal use there should be no risks, its to important

This is relative. It may also attract others who like the potential risk involved.

DayZ is pretty much known and was (if it isn't any longer) popular too - and you can really lose it all there unless you made a stash somewhere - and even that could be raided if found by someone.

I realize money would be easier comparable with DACs, almost directly (if not directly) tied to money - but to me it's the same principle of emergent gameplay with risks - if you move out of safe areas, in theory you can be attacked by others and lose things.

If your purchased DAC are usually delivered to safe territory where you can also do any trades and then people complain about losing them for taking the risk and / or not minding safety procedures they get what's coming to them. In turn one should not forget the possible option to "steal" playtime is lucrative for others, hence me saying it's somewhat 'relative'.

It would give a new meaning to risk and reward and also value if DAC were to be physical and had to be moved to reach other players or a buyer. I would not mind it, but I can see people complain.

I don't get it though. From what I can imagine so far, there would be enough ways to ensure a safe transport to the client - if need be, let the client come to you or do it in safe zones / neutral ground. Or add "risk fees" if you transport it over as longer distance or through dangerous / unpoliced space.

E: What Twerk said above me, too.

You know if they can be stolen then it would remind me of that whole time movie where people don't age anymore, so society added an internal clock that starts once you turn 18 or 25 - time becomes the new currency for all of those that can be added via work or favors. It's just like money with the difference that you die once your time runs out. That movie ends in them robbing several banks for time, not money.

DAC seem like that time here.

(For  and during Alpha early awakening phase)

This accord is brought forth onto the members of the ARK to bring a ceasefire during the period of early awakening "otherwise known as {Alpha}" so that the focus can be aimed toward the development of further features and or equipment.

This accord asks that all participants refrain from the following actions during the allocated period of time:

Active and Open War Declarations Any unwarranted KOS (Kill on Sight) activity Unwanted/Unwarranted Griefing against other items/constructs unless specific permission is received from the title holder and or owner.
This agreement will be null/void on release of the second early awakening phase "otherwise known as {Beta}." During this period of second awakening any and all hostilities and or open testing of weapons systems will be permitted.

"The purpose of this aforementioned pact is to ensure all parties involved in the early awakening phase "or {Alpha}" do not engage in any form of unwarranted hostile activity. Instead their time will be focused on participating in bug testing, conceptualization of new features that could be added into the game, and testing of game functions."

By agreeing to this accord you accept and agree to the following:
That this is an alpha and should be used/treated as a time to participate in the games development, not in hostile actions.

    - This is a placeholder image for now; the name is subject to change -

As previously mentioned in the corporate thread we hereby initiate the 'next phase' of this project.

    STATUS

WORK IN PROGRESS - LONG TERM

ASSETS AND UNITSAirwatch (Reserved, ground component -> urban / rural patrol, traffic management duties and highway / speedway patrol) (Reserved, riot component) (Reserved, tactical component) (Reserved, corrections component) CORE INTENTION

Vulture Corporation tries to spearhead and / or support a police force for long-term stability of moderate to major urban centres. With low size focus may be on one or two.

Focus can include training, tactics and equipment such as vehicles (possibly incl. design) and less-than-lethal and lethal weaponry. Units are deployed after sufficient law and tactical training to work under the regulations and laws set by VPOL and / or any city, faction or alliance officials that have sufficient influence in the according city.

There is currently and for the foreseeable future no intention to portray an intergalactic police force - for any security contracting needs we refer to corporations or contractors. As independent player nations and states will likely try to run their own security or police forces, we look for those interested in bolstering their (future) city or larger settlements with a dedicated police force.

This means that this project is so far aiming at partners and joint city projects where several parties share tasks and responsibilities. Of course, given demand it is also possible that existing entities bolster their own forces.

In a nutshell, picture a dedicated police unit "for hire" without any cliché downsides such as tiered insurance levels per city dweller.

    CORE VALUES

VPOL will so far be inspired and guided by a set of tweaked principles of a constitutional state or a state under the rule of law. German users could surely relate to the word "Rechtsstaat" - details would depend on the other party (the city civil authorities, nation or alliance) but a general approach of de-escalation is favored and encouraged. These will find some specification in basic regulations and guidelines.

In a nutshell we don't look for an authoritarian mindset.

    CAREER

We are glad for anyone interested in this project - while this project is initiated and supported by Vulture Corporation, you don't have to become a member of said entity - you can so far become a VPOL member while being part of an existing organization or alliance as long as no conflict of interest with the respective city authorities that we back arises.

A clean slate is to be expected, however.

Thinking about it, there is always two to this however. You have to expect some critical thinking or the ability to inquire from applicants rather them all going: "Oh, all that for me, even multiple planets, wooooaaaahhhh sign me up!"

In short, inquire when in doubt. Often things can then be cleared up or specified. Also, don't be too gullible with certain specific claims.

Coming from Star Citizen where there are vastly more organizations (while the game is also not finished), I think at this point I'm used to organizations claiming to be able to do it all in a cocky manner while implying they will be the best at the same time.

Of course there can be a fine line regarding bold advertising and claiming 'bullshit'. But sometimes I just think "Tone it down a bit there, champ" or "I would have worded that in a different way". Personal preference also plays a role of course. Some just "brag" and consider it fitting, others dislike it.

I prefer decency or more careful wording at times. In the past and another sandbox game, those who usually bragged but could not deliver were often rather embarrassed and eventually became a footnote of community history.

There's also the chance you mean well but don't notice potential "flaws" in wording or advertisement. It is, again, subjective, too.

But as JC stated in a recent interview, he rather speaks of intent than things set in stone. I personally consider that safer and will double check our own wording and ads to make sure it is more clear that man things are yet unclear. Better safe than having to revise major portions later.

To add, I also think that certain claims are valid of course. It depends on what gameplay mechanic is referred to. Cities, for example, are a safe bet. Other things are not yet that evident or no t in all the details. I also think that the topic may solve itself over time to some extend, as organizations perhaps change their descriptions.
