wouldn't that be the perfect timing to give us a brief outlook about what big content updates you have planned for DU in 2024?

jericho1060 reacted to Msoul in LUA - API overview
Fair enough. If you are looking for a third party reference then perhaps try https://du-lua.dev by @jericho1060 it includes an online lua editor/emulator, detailed information on various in-game elements/recipes, and a mockup of the codex. I personally can not attest to the accuracy of the the information contained within but it is actively maintained and many players have found it extremely helpful. Hopefully you do too.

jericho1060 reacted to JayleBreak in Provide a virtual environment for testing Lua flight scripts.
With the return of element lifetimes the development of Lua flight scripts (e.g. flying_construct.conf) carries the risk of excessive costs.
The solution would be to provide a VR environment similar to that in the "Challenges" tab of the Surrogate Pod UI, but where the ships have no DRM restrictions on their controllers. The code loaded into those controllers should not be saved to the server, but copy & paste should be permitted. Loading of configuration from the lua/autoconf/custom folder should be allowed.
Offering a variety of ships would be great and if a variety of elements (radars, guns etc.) were available to modify the ships it would magnify the development possibilities.

jericho1060 reacted to NQ-Wanderer in KICKSTARTER REWARDS STATUS
Hello Noveans,
Many thanks to all of you who have been with us from our Kickstarter campaign. We appreciate your support and your patience and would like to update you on the status of the rewards you have been waiting for.
THE PHYSICAL KICKSTARTER REWARDS
Production on the Dual Universe figurines and the Collector Box is complete. However, there are two challenges in shipping them:
First, due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the price of shipping has risen significantly. It has reached a point where sending the rewards would cost as much as producing them. We had hoped that these price rises would only be temporary, but we now know that they won’t decrease in the short to medium future. We’ve therefore taken the decision to absorb the increased cost and to move forward with shipping the physical rewards. The second challenge has come from our partner responsible for handling the shipping of the physical rewards. They’ve recently informed us that they won’t be able to complete the task. We are therefore searching for a new partner to take receipt of the physical rewards and to start shipping them to you as quickly as possible. THE VIRTUAL KICKSTARTER REWARDS
Both the Kickstarter Founder Packs and the Supporter Packs will be released throughout the milestones of 2022 in Dual Universe. We’ll give you more concrete details on exactly when you can expect each part of those rewards packages to be released in the months ahead.
Your support and patience mean a lot to all of us at Novaquark, and the delivery of your Kickstarter rewards is one of our priorities. We thank you again for your support and will update you with more information as quickly as we can.

jericho1060 reacted to NQ-Wanderer in ADDED ACCOUNT SECURITY: ENABLE TWO-FACTOR AUTHENTICATION
Novaquark is releasing Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) for added account security for our Dual Universe players. 2FA is simple yet effective: it adds an extra layer of protection to your account. As Dual Universe moves forward, we want to reward those players who choose to opt in. On top of the benefits of added account security, players will also receive the following rewards in-game:
Talents: One million free skill points* added to your available pool. Money: Five hundred thousands quanta* of it, to be exact. Fashion: An exclusive skin for your programming boards to show off your commitment to security:
*These figures may be revised in the future
HOW IT WORKS
You can enable or disable 2FA in the ‘security,’ section of your account at www.dualuniverse.game/account/security at any time. Once you have enabled 2FA, your in-game rewards will be delivered to your account the next time you login.
When 2FA is enabled, in addition to your password, you will be required to enter a one-time code that is generated by an authenticator app on your phone when attempting to log in.
We hope you’ll enjoy flying through Helios with added peace of mind. Share your thoughts on the implementation of 2FA here!

Apologies for the caps but the tone is intended. LEAVE TALENT POINTS OFF ANY WIPE DECISION JUST LIKE BLUEPRINTS.
As for my opinion. If you must weigh pro and con list make it so Voxel only constructs survive the wipe. Make a warning pre-wipe if the construct will fail the check just like you did with element stacking.
Pro - Builders can keep their hard voxel work and only have to replace the elements on the other side of the wipe.
Pro - Far less Back Lash.
Pro - Closes nearly all Loopholes apart from Voxel but Voxel will be the most easy to reproduce post wipe anyway so economic effect is very limited.
Pro - Newbies can be instantly inspired by the veterans creations of the Beta period.
Con - Some veterans will have to dig out ther buildings again.
Con - Nq will have to add a small bit of effort to save the 1,000's of hours of work created by the community.

jericho1060 reacted to blazemonger in DU crashes on Shadow PC since 0.24
I just responded to this update on the ticket. And no, this is not an acceptable excuse here even when I did predict that eventually NQ would just throw the "it is actually not supported" line out there as they would not be able to find a solution.
That DU is not supported on Shadow was never before stated in the system specs and still isn't. DU has run just fine up to the 0.24 PTS. NQ has been (or at least should have been) well aware that they have a good number of subscribers and backers using Shadow There is no reason for DU to not work on Shadow as the system specs are well above the suggested hardware specifications The logs from the crash consistently show a Windows stopcode frequently seen with applications with memory issues such as leaks or incorrect allocation of memory.
Just to remind NQ; here are the DU system specifications which Shadow meets and exceeds:
Recommended:
CPU (Processor)
Intel Core i7 7700 (3.6 GHz) / AMD Ryzen 7 1700 (3.00 GHZ) (Shadow well exceeds this)
To run Dual Universe, you will need a CPU with AVX instructions. More information here. Memory (Ram)
16 GB (While base Shadow has 'only' 12 GB memory, the issue is the same across all Shadow configurations. Minimum spec for DU is 8GB)
GPU (Graphics Card)
AMD RX 580 (8 GB) / NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 (8 GB) (Shadow well exceeds this) Operating System
Windows 10 (Shadow meets this)

The 0.24 broke the game for many users.
I already reported the crash that was hapenning on the PTS but nothing has been done to solve this.
after speaking with other users in the same case it seems Shadow PC (https://shadow.tech) are now blocked and cannot access the game anymore.
Any reason to that ?
Can we please have a rapid fix for that ?

just another case the 50m limitation will be a problem:
Someone landed on your L static core, you cannot move it out in one time and have to wait several minutes to do it.

jericho1060 reacted to Dimencia in DevBlog: The Maneuver Tool and Disconnecting Ships - DUscussion thread
The 50m distance limit on the maneuver tool seems really arbitrary and I don't understand the point. Not freezing if the player isn't touching the ground is good enough, it solves all the problems mentioned. Why also impose these weird artifical limits that do nothing but cause problems?
For example, we have an 'elevator' that uses vertical engines to go up/down from where it starts without a shaft. We maneuver-tool this elevator throughout our base to reach tall things or build up high - it can only fly straight up. We will now have to redesign this if we can't reliably move it around our tiles.
Moving something long-distance with a maneuver tool isn't fast or desirable except in extreme cases when it's the only option, because it takes a very long time. Why would you remove this option?
It now occurs to me people are apparently salty about not being able to alt+f4 to come to a stop anymore, so I guess it's just me worried about this. But I'm good with the removed instant-stops. Sure it'll take some fine-tuning to really get it to work, but for a vast majority of people, it solves a problem (having to accelerate back up to speed if you disconnect). The only reason to complain about it is if you were abusing it (or are worried about PVP implications, not that PVP exists right now)

jericho1060 got a reaction from AlexRingess in DevBlog: The Maneuver Tool and Disconnecting Ships - DUscussion thread
after reading the topic, i agree with all the changes except one, the 50m range limitation.
I think this is too low and here why : the docking is not fixed.
If you are trying to dock a ship on another one but it's not working (doen't matter the reason, right or bug or anything) tthe docked ship is fixed but the other one not.
If you are on the floor, you ship will bounce till he moved out, no problem, but if like me you land your ship on a static core, the bigger ship will go threw the static core.
In my case, my M ship will go threw my static L platform, that means i will have to wait at least 10minutes to pull it back on the top on the platform as a L core is 128m long.
a 150m limitation could solve that problem and will not be too much in my mind.
