If you post something on the forums, expect opposing views to be shared. That's what the forums are for.
If Nyzaltar felt this discussion should be handled via PMs, he would have stated that and locked this thread.
When Nyzaltar feels the opposing responses have turned into detrimental flaming, he will give warnings and lock the thread.
Perhaps he has already deleted offensive threads, so I'm missing the problem.
But, I haven't seen any flaming in the quoted posts.

Strong opinions should be fine. That's what the forums are for.
We can try to be helpful by reminding people about tone when an obvious line has been crossed, but really...
Let Nyzaltar handle it is the best solution, there - that's his job.

Don't understand this kind of complaint.

Ok. Let's imagine, NQ remove DACs. Game released. We play few months. Players already can find black market offers (with fakes as well) for "Want to buy/sell 1 month subscribe for in-game cash/money". And you already get a similar situation. Next few months. There come some websites with offers to sell/buy in-game money.

So NQ creates a bit more expensive, but the safer system only. With it or without, your "trouble" won't disappear.

    Thanks,
    Archonious

Hi ChipPatton and welcome to our forum.   There has been indeed a few people on the Kickstarter saying DAC was a "Pay to Win" feature. We also replied to why it wasn't and why we went for this feature.  We also agreed that it probably wasn't a perfect model, but it was the best we found until now.    This was our official reply:
The DAC/PLEX/CREDD system isn't at fault there. The problem is elsewhere because without this system, the problem remains: it's just hidden. And it's not because something is hidden that it doesn't exist.   The people we got in contact with (probably your officers) turn a complete blind eye on our point of view. They didn't try to understand our position or even suggest an alternative. It's always easy to blame or criticize something without trying to come with a better option.   In this situation, how could the discussion go anywhere? Threatening to cancel the pledges (and doing so) won't change the situation either if there no dialog and just threats. We want to listen to feedbacks from all people interested in our game and take them into account, but without constructive feedback helping to find a good compromise for both sides, it's not possible. Also, while we want to satisfy as much players as possible, We are also aware that we can't satisfy everybody.    In any case, we remain open to discussion if you have more to say on this topic.   Best regards, Nyzaltar.

Examples of Elements are: propulsion engines, control units (computers), doors, weapons, batteries, containers, accelerometers, radars, targeters, drone bay, elevator, and many more. The way the construct orchestrates all these Elements is through scripts, and what we call "Distributed Processing Units". Let's dive into it, and see what it can do.

    The Tempest Mission

The Tempest Mission is an inter-alliance effort to develop an advanced self sufficient deep space vehicle under a joint effort to map out space before the advent of Interstellar Stargate Networks.

The supporting game feature behind this mission is that players will have the ability to fly manually to another star system instead of using probes, although the journey would be extremely difficult it could be a very unique experience. It may take weeks or months to reach another star, but in doing so manually you would be separated from the rest of the players by several weeks time at the very least.

We aim to provide a path to colonize deep space before stargate networks can be created, and to provide a heavy role-play focused experience for people who want to embark on a mission reminiscent of the Starship Enterprise from Star Trek. This may actually be one of the closest things to a Star Trek type experience, going on a year long mission to go where no man has gone before

I do want to stress that this is not an organization for everyone, as it will require a heavy amount of dedication and focus to see it through to the end. However, for those that stick to it, it may end up being an extremely rewarding and unique experience that could not be had in any other game that exists.

The long term goals of The Tempest Mission involve creating either a web series based on our lives onboard, or blogging or something along those lines. We want to make our journey feel like we’re really going where no man has gone before and living day to day somehow.

The findings made aboard the Tempest Mission will be made publicly available after they have been screened by the participating alliances for sensitive information. We want to incentivize other groups to contribute to the project, although many groups are probably working on a similar idea.

What sets Tempest apart from other larger organizations is that we are entirely focused on this single mission. From day one, even if it takes us several months to get into space, we’re going to be focused on doing whatever it takes to make this mission become a reality.

We welcome (and are actively looking for) colonists, who are free to travel with the Tempest to ultimately depart to live on uncharted planets for the establishment of colony worlds. These colonies will be separated from the Alioth system, and it is undetermined if they will once again gain contact with the home system.

Some of these colonies may become abandoned landmarks lost to time, and some may even become wealthy and powerful centers of commerce for their regions of space. If you think what we’re doing is hardcore, think about the people who want to live on a planet separated from the rest of the game alone for who knows how long. The ultimate survival game?

This may be one of the easiest ways for players who want to go 100% solo to get what they want.

The Tempest Mission is expected to take 1 full (real life) year to complete in order to meet the standards to be set by the planning committee.

The Tempest will not immediately depart for deep space on its year-long journey however. Instead it will first make a 1 to 2 week journey into deep space to test the operating capabilities of the vessel, as well as the ability for the crew to work together in confined conditions.

After an evaluation and findings analysis period, Tempest will continue to ramp up its expedition periods until a 1 month survey has been completed satisfying all guidelines and protocols determined by the various planning committees involved in the project. The idea being that we want to know how hard it is to survive out there alone, and we want to know exactly what it’s going to take for us to go out there for a one year journey. It’s likely that the entire design of the ship may have to be re-evaluated if issues are found, but that’s part of the risk of taking on the project.

Over the course of the project, The Tempest crew are expected to provide updates, either in the form of “machinima” RP-style videos chronicling their week to week lives, or blog posts on the project website. We want to keep the entire journey feeling alive and worth being active in.

We will carry out the Tempest Mission in several stages of development, many of which will be disclosed over time.
Staff and Media - [We Are Here] - This stage is focused on assembling a small group of players who are interested in helping to develop the media and organizational structure of the mission planning committee. This may also   involve creating a website for the organization, and promotional material for youtube, etc. Mission Planning Committee - This stage is focused on producing well-written documentation on the plans for the mission. This stage will involve creating a command structure for the vessel, as well as procedures for handling threats both off and on the vessel. Much of this work may involve creating templates and other written material for later use in the mission. Crew Guidelines  Logistics [To Be Disclosed] [i will continue to update this post over time as the outline for the project evolves and becomes more complete.]

It goes without saying that an interest in this project would have to involve an interest in Roleplaying, as there will likely be a large emphasis on that during the duration of the journeys. This is not a mission to take on lightly, it’s going to require a lot of dedication and time put in, but I am positive that when we return home from our journey that we’re going to have a story to tell that no one will ever come close to. That’s of course, if we can pull it off successfully.

We’re looking for people who can do the following, but not limited to:
Programming Freight Logistics Construction Logistics Design Warp Drive Maintenance Security Crew Navigations Crew Science Crew Ship Counselor(s) Engineering Crew Shuttle Maintenance Crew Janitorial Crew (yes) Research Crew Bridge Crew Colonists (very important, but extremely difficult role) Heads of Staff
You can be creative with what you want to do, so long as it is not disruptive to the goal of the mission. For example, I want to be the ship chaplain with my character.

This mission is also not limited to players from any single organization. People from any organization are welcome to join, as I expect the formation of this mission to be an inter-alliance agreement as it matures.

I am asking any interested parties to message me directly on Discord before applying to join the Tempest community.

GalloInfligo reacted to Dygz_Briarthorn in Will constructs in Alpha be in the beta and launch?
1: Some of us were conscripted onto the Alpha Team. Most likely because the devs feel we are already dedicated to helping them improve the game, rather than solely being interested in gaining unfair advantage over subsequent players or merely having fun playing early.

2: Many of us on the Alpha Team have prior experience with this kind of development from Landmark. And we're probably more skeptical than most about what we're getting ourselves into - especially when contemplating spending money for "early access" or Kickstarter.

3: You state how much of the game is even going to be ready at launch is unknown. That's not quite true. We've seen that designing and building constructs is already possible now, during pre-Alpha. The voxel manipulation we've seen means that players can design and construct buildings even without the addition of Elements. If turning those constructs into blueprints won't be possible by Alpha, this game is doomed to be vaporware.

4: A lot of the difficult stuff -like vast numbers of players in one location on a single shard- has already been tested, but could stand to use more rigorous testing. Turning constructs into blueprints is pretty simple - it's not particularly innovative. That tech has already been around for several years now.
Will the devs provide us with newbie Constructs, like a basic hut/shelter, for Alpha? Perhaps not. But, there's really no way the devs are going to open Alpha without the ability to turn constructs into blueprints.

5: All of the above really has nothing to do with your actually concerns about carrying blueprints from Alpha through Launch, though.

a: It seems unlikely that we will be allowed to keep blueprints for ships that would take us off-planet. The devs seem to want us to be planet-bound for at least a couple of weeks after launch.

b: I expect that the devs will be interested in helping players maintain the blueprints for the buildings they construct. And I would not be surprised to see encouragement from the devs and community managers for voxel engineers to push their creative visions by showcasing the best constructs and maintaining those blueprints.

c: It may be that the devs conclude they will have to wipe blueprints during alpha and/or beta. There was always that possibility in Landmark, too. We'll have to see what the specific challenges are for Dual Universe, but...

d: In Landmark, we were able to keep Alpha blueprints through Launch. I expect the NovaQuark devs will endeavor for the same to be possible for Dual Universe. Apparently, they've stated they are contemplating supporting that.

e: We will just have to wait to see what actually happens. Just as we will have to wait to see if DU is anything more than vaporware.

The universe is a hazardous place and without the right tools to survive on a somewhat inhospitable planet one is unlikely to do so. Here is what i propose as just a few.

Heat - Some planets/zones are just too hot to survive outside a ship without proper heat protection a player with high enough skills should be able to craft suits or shields so they can take advantage of this. Building a base there would require more energy to keep the base cool.

    Cold - Same as heat

Radiation - From a crashed ark ship/aliens perhaps or a planet with a large amount of radioactivity.

Poor Atmosphere - Kind of a combination of the above. I am sure there are more but I leave it open for discussion.

Advantages provides a more unique gameplay and opportunities to have rarer resources here but they will be more difficult to get.

Maintaining a base here will be more difficult and costly but if managed would mean it is more difficult to attack and raid successfully.

also alpha is not about making blueprints, its about finding bugs for closed beta . alpha is not going to be a way to play the game, it is very much the unfinished game, and thinking it is going to be anything else may ruin it for you. Please do not think alpha is going to be anything like what the game on launch will be, you should not opt in to alpha unless you are 100% committed to just making the game playable

I think you missed the point of I Don't Care.  if that is how someone wants to try and recruit numbers, I Don't Care.  If there are members out there that want to join an outlaw organization, and can't come to the same understanding as you have, I don't care.  if there are players here now that only want to join the biggest perceived organization, I still don't care.  I only worry about my own Organization, and the ones I belong to.

As much as I'd like to be part of large organizations, I tend to get frustrated by all the rules and bureaucracy. So I'll probably end up being a vagabond, taking up jobs here and there travelling as a crewmember on whoever will hire me going out into the stars.

Either that, or I'll be a space trucker.

Space Trucking was the best time I ever had in Eve Online, despite how boring it seemed on the surface, I rather enjoyed kicking back and just quietly flying towards my destination 20-30 jumps away.

I know csyn seems like an alliance. And perhaps to some degree you could think of it like an npc empire from eve. But it exists so the real orgs. The dua, tu, ody, can play together and against each other.

I can't know the full extent and openness each individual member org will have I'm their space. So I don't know if all hubs will be publicly available.

Emberstone is special. While Cinderfall will be the controlling governance. I want to connect with as many people as possible. The outfit, boo, acs, empire , individuals, all the csyn orgs, SilverLight etc. To have access to advertisements that noobs will see as they go around the city.

Idk if the billboard element well suffice. Or if well have to do physical manipulation of voxels to make recruitment art in 3d. But everyone can benefit from this.
It'll be as big as we need to have a market, social gathering places, several themed areas of the city from goody goody areas to the shadowy dastards crag. The basic experience area for da newbies.
Yeah we will have to push the envelope of what's possible from the tools they give us, bend the intended uses of the rdms to create a place for vets to chill. And newbies to figure the game out.

I am a little overbearing and protective of it because it's my baby and I think it's good for the community if we all cooperate. Even if we're technical enemies at times. I see the people that laugh at the community building and say it's not important. That it will take care of itself, well that's not how I wanted to play I guess I'm at odds with them. I've seen what humanity does when nobody guides things towards positivity
