Atmo in ships probably isnt going to be high priority. We do all wear suits....so at worst we have to wear helmets in ships. Which honestly is probably a good idea regardless if they do make ship atmos. Since a hull breach could happen in theory.

I like this idea better than just having 1 space. gives more RP options in my mind if you character can go by last name or something

Slots for first name, middle name, and last name. Only the first name has to be filled

The_War_Doctor got a reaction from Kael in Ideas about the community portal and live game
It has been awhile since I posted anything in the forums, but the other day I was thinking about the community portal and how its used to manage the player orgs. We know that the portal will have some link to the live game but not much is known past that.

I had the idea that perhaps there could be a feature on the portal that is similar to the rep system of games like WoW. Where someone could see what orgs a particular org is allied or at war with.
The way I see this working is a menu on the Legate side of the community portal where a legate could go through a searchable list of all orgs and mark them as either friendly or hostile, or could send a request to be marked as allied. I feel for 2 orgs to be listed as allied then both would have to agree on that. Same with war.
I feel like this could fairly easily translate to a interface menu inside the game itself. Perhaps only showing the orgs that are anything but neutral or having filter options. I have seen graphs made by members of the community that show the interconnecting of different orgs. This would be something that would be more official.

I would also like for the community portal to be used to control RDMS. Given that DU will be what it is, I see this as being a benefit. If something happens in game but a legate or member is unable to get online because of work or for whatever reason. being able to give temp access to someone else and managing things like RDMS will be useful.

In short I would like to see the community portal became well integrated into the game itself, almost as if you are logging into a terminal in game to manage a group.

I don't expect any of this day one of the game, but I think it would be useful as an update down the road.

Any comments and criticism is welcome.

The_War_Doctor reacted to Vyz Ejstu in Customised Organisation Content Pack
    "
While I'll be taking a break from writing lore, I have decided to employ what tiny spare time I have left on something else.

We've seen a lot of organisations spring up in the last few months and a lot of them are in need of a good logo, signature, banner and perhaps some text to give the organisation in question some solid footing.

This is something I'll be doing personally: sans Aether, TRANCE, or Outpost Zebra.

What does the Premium Content Pack contain?

A tailored Photoshop logo for your organisation - mostly created from scratch. It will be unique and I assure you, you won't find it anywhere else on the internet.

A signature image. All the cool organisations have it (mine included), why not yours?

A profile image (mostly a combination of the logo or something else within my power). Some organisation leaders love their organisations so much, they take it upon themselves to carry the face of the organisation everywhere. Besides, it is a perfect idea for an army of identical alts.

A banner or an Ad artwork. A few organisations have websites of their own and we all know every organisation with a website has a banner that goes along with it. So, if you are in need of a 1024px or greater banner, that's included as well.

Some background lore text. I love writing and I couldn't resist the temptation to include this in here. Granted: I will not be writing a book for your organisation. Rather, it is some text of your choosing and setting that gives your organisation a lot more life than a basic description and a picture. No great nation is without a history.

You get five different items in a single pack and all of them are tailored to your demands. Sounds good, no?

Talk to me via DM, or leave a request below and I'll get back to you. I have a busy schedule, but if there's the need to make time, I have my ways.

    Cheers.

P.S. Kindly note that I am not competing with anyone to make logos. It's an idea I had a few weeks back but, lacked the right opportunity to make a solid offer. If you do make logos or work with Photoshop and you'd like us to work together, I'm more than open to collaboration. I've made logos for other organisations and most of the Aether artworks are products of my spare time and Photoshop skill. I'll be doing some more Photoshop works for the Aether and I think this a perfect opportunity to do more with less time.

It's optional. You got 1 space in a name, so you COULD have a first and last name. I, for example, just defined 1 word as a name.

    Hi.

    1) There are no NPC traders, bot are NOT NPCs.

    2) Spreading the playerbase is not supported by the lore. If you die, you'll be respawned in the Arkship - RNs are an organsiation thing.

    3) Having NPC shuttles negates the point of the game.

    4) Cloud servers do not care about load or how many people join at once. They can increase in size on their own. Players joing in doesn't matter, they can adjust. Cloud servers can't be DDoSed, they cna serve everyone without queues. Your arugement makes no god damn sense.

    5) This is not Space Empyrioneers, you will have to find a way to co-exist with other players, it's an MMO, it's a social game.

    6) This is not a single-player game, like Minecraft. You won't mine mountains solo, and sure as heck you won't mine fast if you don't got mining skills trained high enough. OH, you wanted to Space Empyrioneer in DU? TOUGH LUCK, you can't mine automatically, or mine as fast as others who are miners by training.

If you don't like the safezone, move out of it.

If you can't find resources in the starting zone, migrate.

If you can't tolerate other players for whatever reason, play like a nomad or a hermit. Just expect to die like a noamd - or a hermit.

NQ has a failproof plan for all of these issues. It's in the training system, it's in the Cloud hosted servers and it's in the game economy and politics and warfare.

They should not make the game 99% safezone, cause people don't want to have to compete for minerals.

    Cheers.

The_War_Doctor reacted to Anaximander in Need some clarification about the alpha.
This is not "Early Access". This is an Alpha test..

Alpha tests are usually staged. Usually devs will ask players to congregate in one place. Or log out and relog. That's what Alpha tests are.

The "MVP" or Minimum Viable Product (what Early Access games like Empyrion or Space Engineers are in essence) is where the Beta phase starts. Alpha is not about "playing the game before the others". That's just what shit game devs did for excusing their terrible game.

So no, if you hoped to play the game 2 years before anyone else, you will be thoroughly disappointed. I wouldn't be surprsied if the first month was simply bug-fixxing on login screens, or stress tests with players running in one specific location on the map. Sure, the Devs may elect to go for "here's the building part of the game in Alpha", but still it will be full of glitches and bugs, that's what Alpha is for, hunting down bugs and polisihing the turd that's a game after pre-alpha developement and up until Beta.

And yes, real Alphas are in stages. Alpha 1 would have buildng, so devs can focus on THAT aspect of the game and polish any bugs on it. Then they would move to flying ships, then on w/e else there is. They COULD hot-drop all the features they developed so far, but don't expect their priority list to match the individual's priority list. If flying crafts has bugs, tough luck, until the building bugs are all hammered out, there won't be any bugfixxing done on those.

You know, otherwise you are Space Empyrion Citizen game, going 6 years into an Alpha due to a scattershot of a developement phase and no prioritiies on bug-fixing.

I have faith on JC, he's an engineer, engineers like doing things in a proper manner. Like for example, building the game as an MMO and the net-code coming first, rather than as an afterthought (glares at Space Empyrion Citizen). So I guess the Alpha will be done in stages. Not long ones, like monthly additions on top of each other or even weekly.

The_War_Doctor reacted to NQ-Nyzaltar in Windows or a way to making voxels transparent
    Hi there,

In the near future, windows will be available under the form of decorative Elements.
However, implementing voxels made from a transparent material, nothing is clear planned at the moment in the roadmap, so if it's implemented, it will be most likely after the official release.

The challenge of making transparent voxels functional enough to use it for windows: Developing this type of materials to the point of being able to make windows of custom size, with a perfect transparency with no blur or deformation when whatching something placed on the other side of the windows is not an easy task. And it will cost a significant amount of development time. So as always, we will concentrate first to core mechanics and mandatory content before starting developing transparent materials that could be used in an industrialized way.

In any case, we will keep you informed about the evolution on this topic when we will have fresh news about it

    Best regards,
    Nyzaltar.

    Who are we?
The Salt Syndicate is an emerging faction based upon the more questionable business strategies. Throwing in game ethics out the window, we offer a variety of ways to help the faction and your self thrive in Dual Universe!
    What can we offer.
This all depends what you want, and are willing to do! The more involved we are in the development of the faction, the stronger we can get. We will primarily focus on pirating and bounty hunting to start. But then we will continue to grow and focus on economic control. This can include patrolling shipping routes, blockades, and more! We can also offer resources for construction of new ships and ultimately, profit!
    How to Join?
Just apply! It's as simple as that! Just look up "The Salt Syndicate" and apply to join, and we will try to get to your application as fast as possible! We only ask that you contribute to the development of the Syndicate in any way you can. If you apply, we guarantee you will be accepted! Of course, we have rules. Be respectful of all members of the group. We may not have sound ethics, but we have standards. Also never harm the development of the group, in game or out. If you follow these two basic rules, you should be fine! So apply for The Salt Syndicate Today!
