This is the cockpit Dual Universe shows in the teaser video they showed at E3. This is for smaller spaceship constructs.

I would hope that these are intended for interior doors. I would prefer to see a different style for exterior doors. Maybe even something without the frame as we will be able to make voxel frames..or maybe both.

I would imagine that we are going to need air locks and beefy exterior doors. Somethign like a camera aperture, or better. I would also like to see different styles. Grungy dystopian styles, organic styles etc. But I think stuff like this will come in time.

These are sliding doors to use in your spaceship or base or wherever you need a door. I just hope they make that "swish" sound

no, thats a misconception, let me quote omniscient google on that matter:

I gave arguments for an "eat or die" system and arguments against it followed by a logical assessment of both sides with the goal to improve DUs gameplay, which completely qualifies as constructive criticism

That said, "hard edges" in disputes aren't nessecarily bad because it means people care for the matter, of course only as long as no personal insults are used. Using double the amount of words to describe something "nicer" just because others might get offended if you formulate it plainly is a waste of effort. That desire to never offend anybody anytime because of any idea is hindering progress and one of the cancers of our current society, especially if those "offensive" things are just plain facts and reasoning without any emotional argument.
People who get offended because you refute their ideas with logic and reason should toughen up a little bit, its not like they are insulted or get hurt if someone tells them that their ideas are bad.

Most game subscriptions are the price of a single lunch if you get something descent, 2 lunches if you get nasty food. $15.00 bucks a month for something you might possibly spend over 100 hours in is DIRT cheap for entertainment. If you can't afford the 15 bucks, cancel netflix and skip 1 lunch a month, just 1.

I voted against, just because I feel unless a game is designed to allow a single player to have so much advantage/power, whether it be for combat, harvesting or any other activity, then I don't think it's fair to other people who don't participate in doing that and play the game as intended.

Ultimately though it's up to the devs, but personally I prefer a game be played as it was designed to be experienced.

And no, you were not boring. It's really hard to talk about dual (why I dont post much here) until we understand how their vision plays out in the game. Once we are able to test it, see it working, then suggestions and commentary will be dialed in towards what is more achievable by their systems. When that happens the amount of things to talk about will be non stop and more fluid.

    Hi everyone,

Just to clarify on this topic:
We totally understand that First Person Shooter gameplay would be more immersive.
However, we have to take everything in account. And when we do, then we have to make some compromise.
We want combat, but combat is not the main feature of the game. Only one of the main features, equally important with building, real massively multiplayer system in a single-shard universe, exploration, trading, etc. Once this was sorted out, it was logic that we wouldn't sacrifice things like the massively multiplayer aspect just to have the best First Person Shooter possible. In that case, even if it's not the best combat mechanics (we totally agree on that), target locking combat gameplay is the answer for the best compromise. So it's not a decision led by personal taste, but really the most relevant decision on the technical aspect in our case.

We totally understand that it won't appeal to every player.
We are aware that our game won't satisfy everybody, and it's the same for any game.

    Best regards,
    Nyzaltar.

most of what you said doesnt fit into dual universe:
Dungeonraids with limited team size means instanced dungeons, there wont be anything like this in DU
PvP worlds, be it small or large, are meaningless, as the whole universe will be a pvp zone
Gear-Score is useless.. because there are no instances, you can go everywhere from the beginning (as long as you dont die)

Multiple-playable races doesnt fit lore-wise, but maybe they'll include it in an addon, far far far in the future.
As for regenerating farm worlds, i suppose the wildlife on the planets will respawn, but you certainly wont get money from the system for killing npc, because there is no system-money.

Free yourself from your casual mmorpg-experiences and embrace the all-embracing, unlimited sandboxness of dual universe

i disagree, multiboxing gives the players doing so a definitve advantage against other players, in ressource collection as well as in pvp, so it should definitely not be allowed.

Kiklix got a reaction from Warden in Possible Solution to the P2P/F2P Argument
Introducing all kinds of barriers based on the pay model of the game introduces confusion to new players and it also introduces a lot of coding.

Dual needs to keep this simple, just make it a subscription model at X amount per month. Everyone is on the same footing, there is no confusion and no additional coding because of tiered gameplay or anything else confusing.

I really don't understand what is so hard about accepting a simple subscription model. Look, I do not say this to be abrasive, but this is simple. If you can not afford a modest monthly subscription, then you should probably be asking for more hours at work instead of playing video games, if you are a younger person...save your allowance, go mow an extra lawn a month or pick up a single evening of babysitting.

There is no need to over complicate how Novaquark is compensated for their services.

    Hi everyone!

On behalf of the Novaquark team, thanks a lot for your support!
We were expecting to see Dual Universe received with skepticism by many as the game is really ambitious.
We are aware that several promising projects have been cancelled or didn't deliver at all what was expected from them in the past few years. So seeing a lot of people skeptic is perfectly understandable and we can't blame anyone for that (the only case where we can't remain silent is when someone makes negative assumptions and present them as a truth). All we ask from skeptic people is to give us the benefit of the doubt, to wait and see what we will present over the coming months, and we will listen equally to positive and negative feedbacks. We will also try to improve our communication, to minimize risks of misinterpretation (as it has already happened once).

On the other hand,  we have seen the number of people supporting Dual Universe growing tremendously during the last month. And that has bolstered the motivation of the whole team! So thanks again for your support! You can always help us by just talking about the game to your friends, and if you don't convince them, it's perfectly fine: we aren't expecting to convince everyone with just discussions, some screenshots and one video at this point. Spreading the word that our game exists is already a big help!

    Best regards,
    Nyzaltar.

    AMEN

P2P aka subscription fees guarantee a stable income and allow the devs to plan more easily opposed to perhaps random dynamic income from shops or whatever while serving as a minor anti-toxic barrier (those purely out to cause chaos on a general level have it easy if access is free).

As for those saving money due to getting software or stuff elsewhere for free: You save a notable amount of money if you get something like that on occasion, so chances are you can afford one subscription fee for an MMO.

Again, I know some really have to watch the money they spend but I could afford an MMO when I still went to school with pocket money. If you have a PC, internet and can get new games on occasion, then you surely have the few bucks per month to spend on a game like this I'd assume.

E: If we leave a trial aside for a moment I also realize that free to play may encourage more players to check out the game - but if it's really good even a fee won't keep those who're interested away.

In short: I don't want to save money short-term only to possibly have the game crash. I'd rather invest a bit into it and be able to play it longer so to speak. But that's just me. Others will prefer other models. I personally hope they settle for something that keeps them afloat, and I assume subscription fees may be the most stable income.

I'm personally very anti-cash shop, even if the cash shop isn't selling anything pay to win. The problem is, I've seen, eventually the business side of the game company takes over and the priority becomes less about making a better game and more about making the next shiny to put on the store.

I think he is talking about snapping together smaller mesh elements into one larger functioning element.  So voxels wouldn't need to be involved.   I think this is a great idea.  It would allow for a bit more personalization from ship to ship, in terms of performance and appearance.

I have faith in NovaQuark too, their professionalism really comes across to me. I had some doubts regarding SOE, now Daybreak's ambitions for working on two games at the same time, but thankfully this isn't the case here. Here we have one game, and an obviously strong vision as to what the game is about, and where it is heading over the coming year.

It's also far too early to be concerned about anything. It's always tempting to want a new game to become the better version of an old game, but we've got to appreciate Dual Universe is it's own game, and remember it's still pre-alpha. Very early days.

Let's just give support and be excited about what's to come.

I think this is a really important matter so I'd like to give my opinion as an avid sandbox (and voxel-based games) player, hopefully it helps. For me giving the possibility to build "Landmark style" is not a good choice:
1)You need to enter a mode where your mouse moves your pointer instead of your camera (clunky, confusing)
2)Since you can't move your camera, you often doesn't even use your wasd to move your character (to avoid losing vision), and if you do it, it feels cluncky, since you still can't move your camera
3)To make this mode viable, you will probably be able to place blocks from a good range, and this will not give a player the feeling he's really building, it would feel a lot more like a 3d modeling software than a game

Regarding the building with your crosshair:
1)You need to directly place blocks, you need to move, jump to reach any spots and you always have the chance to see your creation from a different perspective.
2)You need to climb on to the top of your ship, you'll need to create ladders, scaffolding and stuff like that. It would feel more realistic. You're directly moving, placing blocks, removing them, shaping your creation. Not being able to place every single block with a crosshair view, is actually, imho, a good thing, because it make the game feels realistic, you'll need to find a solution by yourself to reach that spot and add depth to the game.

In any case I'll be happy wathever you do, I can deal with that

That would be kind of cool. A way to segue from the PC client to a tablet/phone app companion. You could turn on shields, have the ship go into a stealth mode, all kinds of stuff.
