At the moment on the community portal all information regarding who is in what organisation is public. And the API would collect all public data.

In the future NQ might implement a feature to hide certain members in an organisation, or even hide a full organisation itself, from public view.

This API would possibly take things like that I to account, but for the time being it would collect all data.

i tell you the otherway is way better you can make some skills time base for shure an some skills  from skills how long you use them lets say BPC if you use it often for 1 year  vs one who use the BPC 6 month   you get better skill less ME/TE
Problem in EVE all got same ME/TE an people cant sell there stuff with profit often becouse of this problem..
thats why i say  sometings needs to be like this is way better..

      Hello Lethys,
    a very nice explanation!

It is also less about me, I can wait the 3 days.
It's about the 7,000 backers who are not at the Pre-Alpha. NQ has communications managers whose task is certainly not programming.
Therefore, I hope you are right and appropriate information will benefit all Players.     Die Waldfee

      Hello Lethys,
your argument always reminds me of my wife.

But maybe you can tell me how silence ensures the run-time security of a program?

As I said, one does not have to disclose any error that is bad for the image or can lead to speculation.
If, however, nothing is reported, it will always lead to speculation!     Die Waldfee

There's a NDA in place for us ATV and for every gold+ backer. Period. NQ decides what information they give out, not we as customers.

They have plenty to do now after the ATV test and they have to make sure that everything runs well on saturday - they possibly don't have much time to just write a report for anyone because of the workload.

So maybe people could just chill a little bit and wait if they announce anything AFTER the gold+ backer test.

I really don't know if people noticed but this test on 30th was announced - NO further test. So we get to play on saturday and then we have to wait for the next announcement anyway - and I just make an educated guess here: they will announce the next test plus a short report on how the gold+ backer test went. That's ofc only speculation on my part, but who knows.

I know that everyone is eager and everyone wants information and all go crazy atm BUT please people remember:

    - once you participated on the test on 30th of september you're under NDA and you CAN'T talk about that to anyone
    - give them time: they try their best to make this happen. bombarding them with PMs/questions/wishes on the forum doesn't help them achieving this - it makes things worse
    - think about them and their workload atm - and maybe rethink if you really help them now when you want to know certain things or if you can wait for that piece of info a week or two

Hey everyone!   Before I begin, wanted to express my apologies if this is mentioned.  I did attempt to sift through the idea box.

I think it would be great if the sensor info about the surrounding star systems and other astrological bodies that we would see in our personal navigation (ship, tool, HUD, console, whatever the case will be)
Were to be all unknown. This would allow people to trade star maps, allow for secret routes, (think star wars, the hyperspace routes) one could make a rather interesting and profitable living exploring various ftl routes, andd it would make it feel more real.

This is obviously a rather rough draft if the idea, but I feel the fundamentals are there for someone to expand on it if so inclined ^^

English (Translator used)   That with the NDA I can accept. What I do not like so well is that NQ does not write to the first test.
For example, you could say how many players have participated in the test, whether the test was as expected, or if further tests were useful on a small scale, or or.     Die Waldfee

Well, the thing is where would you run into a player? And if it's in a gathering every other player may feel the same about the guy and "force" him to stop. Maybe you could run into him in a street in a city were he is screaming as people pass. And if that was the case it wouldn't be that hard to mute him. And before that someone else might have complained and the local Authorities of the city would have already dealt with him. And I doubt this game would be full of people screaming into their microphones especially with push to talk being default. And if a city can be built and sustained in the first place you would think the people who built it are also formal enough not to scream into their microphones for pointless reasons.

Radio transmission like mechanics... so you can call an individual... hail 1 ship... or broadcast to the whole area... as well as create "encrypted" private channels for your group to organize...

Yep I want all of that.  I don't want to use third party programs to get some of the above functions... I want it built into the game.

Will there be an In-game voice? mechanic, and if not can there be a solid one?

An in-game voice mechanic which allows you to talk to players that are within a certain area near you. And they can hear you louder the closer you are? And also possibly a way to amplify your voice for example if you're giving a political speech? Or something like PA speakers so you can alert your crew to abandon ship? Even something else like using ships to contact another one of your ships to give them an order or even a motivational speech?.

Without an in-game voice, people would be negotiating by typing or even using software such as discord and this can be long and complicated just to talk to someone you just met. And let's say you have a meeting with a high up official who just sent you a message to meet him. Would you rather click on a discord room with him in it and talk? Or would you rather stroll down to the hanger and enter a ship and flying to the officials command ship. To then proceed to walk into his office and sit down for a meeting.

This could be done similar to games like Dayz, Rust, and many others. It would really push forward how realistic cooperation between two people can go and the entire game in a whole.

    Update - (3/03/2018)
This suggestion was made a long while ago, and during the course of that time, some interesting questions and ideas have been brought to the discussion that I would like to touch on here.

This type of communication is a necessity for Dual Universe, for the scale of this game having a voice system really boosts its quality and can even make the game, Chance encounters are one of the most important and exciting moments you will experience, without a proper communication system they simply cannot be brought to their full potential. One of the largest reasons is that Dual Universe is a societal game, from nations to pirates and companies. You need a way to convey information that is easy and and connected to the game, some examples of this include traders trying to convince you to buy one of their products, a police officer asking for identification, a pirate asking for demands, a superior officer in the military giving you a quick order in an intense situation and the chance encounters that were mentioned earlier like someone who has managed to settle on the same asteroid as you or someone in the street of a large city. These examples show you why 3rd party services cannot be relied on, they take too long to configure and to hold one for an entire organisation would require a stupidly large amount of constant micro-management.

A city is alive because information flows through it, cities are what keep organisations alive and if you cannot allow information to flow through a city then it results in the eventual collapse of that establishment and possibly the organisation. An in-game voice system perfectly fits into the city and maps it accordingly unlike 3rd party software.

    [Further Explanation of above point]
For example, lets take discord and build up a small model area of a city, we have a marketplace with around 100 people trading and talking to each other, we have an area not too far away where there is a political candidate giving a speech and between them another area that is a residential building, some conversations are taking place between people looking to buy an apartment and neighbors talking to each other. Its possible at this point to create a setup in discord, you could have a voice room with everyone in it, but then you face difficulty hearing the person you are trying to listen too because everyone is the same volume, you could take the more obvious root and divide the channels into speech, market and residential but then each one has the same problem of not being able to hear the person they are talking too maybe directly calling someone is a better option but then no one can enter that conversation so you divide up the rooms again. In a sense an attempt to map the city to discord. The problem  with mapping in discord is that when a new instance is created discord cannot simply be updated, lets say there is an explosion or crash nearby, a new environment has been created, for in-game voice its a matter of walking into this area to hear the new environment and for the map to be updated, you would also globally hear the effect of the crash and how it affects the market, speech and residential area. Discord cannot have a new environment in this area unless you have someone online who can create a new channel in a hurry, and even then you would not get the connected experience you would with an integrated voice system.

    Some common problems/points:

This would put too much load on the server:
It could, I'm sure if NQ puts there mind to it they can find a way around it, for example, it could become P2P.

This isn't what NQ should be focusing on right now:
I agree they shouldn't even look at this feature until some time before launch, or even after launch, it doesn't mean it shouldn't be in the game.

This would be an annoying feature:
It might be in some places, but if you are in a nation it becomes there responsibility to moderate it, there could be some settings in-game which allow you to disable it, mute specific people, adjust your hearing range etc.

Thank you, this has been an interesting discussion and I hope it continues to be.

    Cyber-Phoenix - Die Fireborn rekrutieren
    Hallo meine werten Deutschsprachigen Mit-Arker,
in folgenden möchte ich euch einen Kurzen überblick über Cyber-Phoenix geben, und hoffe evtl. das Interesse des ein oder anderen wecken zu können.
Cyber-Phoenix     Entwicklung|Wissen|Einsatz   Metadaten: Sprachen: Deutsch(Fokussiert)/English Lokalisation: Global Kommunikation: TS3/Cy-Ph Forum/DU Community Farbcode: Management | Wissenschaft | Sicherheit   Geschichte:   Unseren RP Hintergrund findet ihr hier !

    Was du mitbringen solltest?

huschhusch reacted to Sunrider44 in Stargate Technology
    Interesting topic!

I first thought a fixed gate-to-gate as the most natural option. But after a little moment thinking, I came to the idea that a multi-destination gate network is far more interesting. With some limitations to make it more strategic, of course.

The first important question is: A gate should stay opened all the time? What is the meaning behind.

If they do, well... dialing a new destination is simply impossible. The "gates" are more like a wormhole tunnel. This option is often used in video games, because it's a very easy way to build bridges between the instances of the game. In this case, the space is structured, more or less, like a plane ground. And this is another good thing to avoid making players lost or mad (!).

We find this in games like freelancer or X series, which even set up a N,S,W,E thing. That is quite a nonsense in deep space, but helps everyone with something familiar.

But in DU, the picture is different: first because there is only one instance, and secondly because everyone can place the gates everywhere.

So, with this perspective, the question is moving on an economical and political ground. And that is what DU is about.

In this last case, people with a fixed gate-to-gate gameplay will not build a grid pattern with the gates, but rather build kind of hubs. I mean, hubs make your gates easier to protect, and is the best way to bring quickly your fleet (army or cargo) to your distant gates (and probably important planets, stations, whatever...). But, with the time, you hub will maybe become a gate labyrinth. Not mentionning the fact that if gates are really expensive, it will make even more expensive for an org to build a network, because of the indirect accumulated costs of your gates.

Each org will probably build its own gate-hub, and will hardly take the risk to build a hub with other orgs, taking the risk to lost their gates and heavy investment.

Finally, my opinion is that it will make the gate gameplay quite uninteresting, except for the need to reach distant systems without spending weeks, as NQ said.

So, for me multi-dialing gate with a distance limit (fixed or because of some kind of fuel) is the best option. And the gates will need to be opened and closed. Moreover, it makes the gates more useful if you can connect to a pre-existing network, with the possibility to manage your gate access with electronic keys. Little orgs with few incomes will find a real interest to invest into even only one gate, allowing them to jump into the alliance game and switching  access, maybe taking adventage of political issues between big orgs. It will make polititics and collaboration a thing for transportation and communication.

On top, it opens new scripting ideas, like making some "gate bridges" as we can see in Stargate series for instance.

    So, definitly, dialing-gates for me!
