    Adobe is planning to end-of-life Flash. Specifically, we will stop updating and distributing the Flash Player at the end of 2020 and encourage content creators to migrate any existing Flash content to these new open formats. Google:
    Chrome will continue phasing out Flash over the next few years, first by asking for your permission to run Flash in more situations, and eventually disabling it by default. We will remove Flash completely from Chrome toward the end of 2020. Mozilla:
    Starting next month, users will choose which websites are able to run the Flash plugin. Flash will be disabled by default for most users in 2019, and only users running the Firefox Extended Support Release (ESR) will be able to continue using Flash through the final end-of-life at the end of 2020. In order to preserve user security, once Flash is no longer supported by Adobe security patches, no version of Firefox will load the plugin. Microsoft:
    In mid to late 2018, we will update Microsoft Edge to require permission for Flash to be run each session. Internet Explorer will continue to allow Flash for all sites in 2018. In mid to late 2019, we will disable Flash by default in both Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer. Users will be able to re-enable Flash in both browsers. When re-enabled, Microsoft Edge will continue to require approval for Flash on a site-by-site basis. By the end of 2020, we will remove the ability to run Adobe Flash in Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer across all supported versions of Microsoft Windows. Users will no longer have any ability to enable or run Flash.  
     
    By the end of 2020 Flash will be dead!!!!!

    Hi everyone.
     
    Until now, we couldn’t manually manage (remove/promote) Legates in an organization easily on the administration side.
    Since Yesterday, we are able to use a feature simplifying considerably the process. 
     
    As we already mentioned many times in the past, we (Novaquark) don’t want to involve ourselves in the management of organizations created by players. However, we are also aware that the current (and temporary) state of the management system contains obvious flaws. You know it. We know it. As this is still “work in progress”, we hoped that organizations creators will be reasonable enough to avoid abusing the well-known flaws of the system and would wait that all the rules are implemented before trying to sabotage other organizations. 
     
    So we are going to state the obvious here:
    It’s ok to “play a bad guy” and use dirty tricks once all the rules are implemented. However, it’s absolutely not ok to start exploiting the flaws of a work in progress system: this is not “playing a bad guy”, this is just toxic behavior and trying to gain an advantage while not playing by the rules.
     
    That’s why - despite our will of non-involvement - we will make exceptions until the full implementation of the RDMS (Rights & Duties Management System) for the Organizations.
     
    Why did we decide to intervene? 
    Two reasons:
    1) In the current state, a Legate has much more power than in the final system, due to the minimalistic mechanisms temporarily in place. If in the current system, any Legate has the right to promote a member to Legate status by himself alone, in the final system the default rights will be completely different: promoting a legate will be done only with a vote by majority rule, or the right to promote someone will be given to specific persons and not every Legate.
    2) In the current state, a Legate cannot be demoted by any mean (even by the creator of an organization). In the final system, default configurations will allow to demote a Legate with a vote by majority rule. A Legate could also be demoted by specific persons who have been given the right (most probably by the Organization founder) to do so.
     
    How is this going to work?
    Each organization is going to have one "wild card": if there is a problem with the Legates in an Organization, you can contact the support team at support@novaquark. However, keep in mind we (Novaquark) reserve the right to intervene (or not) on a case by case basis. 
     
    Example of a case where we will intervene:
    Some Legate using the flaw of the current temporary system to vandalize (or generate troubles in) an organization.
     
    Example of a case where we won’t intervene:
    Two organizations have merged in one, and now both creators of previous organizations want to mutually exclude each other from the organization. In this kind of case, we won’t remove anyone. We won’t favorize one creator above another. However, we will do our best to help finding a satisfying solution for both parties.
     
    As a global reminder:
    If someone finds a loophole in the rules in place (that may happen), and this loophole is used to generate trouble and spread a toxic behavior, we won’t stay idle watching the situation deteriorating.

    Hi Elildar,
     
    Sorting the ideas posted in this section is part of our to-do list.
    We also want to make a table on which we would answer if the idea is:
    - accepted and included in the roadmap before the official launch
    - accepted and included in the roadmap after the official launch
    - accepted and might be included but much later.
    - rejected temporarily (because of some reasons, but that reasons may disappear at some point)
    - rejected definitely (because of reasons that have no chance to disappear or because it's just not compatible with our game vision).
     
    However, as we have a lot of priority tasks at the moment, this hasn't been done yet.
    If someone was willing to make at least a kind of summary of the ideas already posted (with links toward the involved topics) right now, this would help both the Community and the Community Team.

    This is a bit random, but I just discovered it tonight.
     
    Turns out that animated gifs work as profile pictures, and as profile backgrounds!
     
    There's still the file size limit, which excludes a lot of options, but I found one I liked.

    I'm currently not sure what this would entail in more detail. Could you elaborate further what you have in mind or give specific examples? So far I can assume that you fear that developers might abuse powers and that containing them in their own organization might prevent this, which I consider odd however.
     
    I doubt you will see NQ staff go around and just "wreck" things with dev tools or on "cheat mode" basically, and if they individually want to play the game like the others would, they would likely just form a character or maybe join a faction - perhaps even "anonymous" to prevent bias claims. I was an Admin on a more serious Minecraft server community once and I can tell you that bias claims are real or quick to be on the table in general or, specifically, if said faction you are in or that you lead (in my case, I lead it) is somewhat or even a relatively successful or winning fights against other factions.
     
     
    I also personally suggest you change your format with the translations a bit, as a different layout could improve "readability". For example, your post could simply look like this:

    I find the developers should not play god, because then do not spill the effects of their rules.
    Therefore I consider it useful for NQ in the game an organization which is subject to the same rules as all players.
    As the first administrative unit, the "Arkship-Org" (I just call you now) have the Arkship itself and a few hexagon fields under the dome.
    Of course, you can include members and also appoint legates.
    Thus the developers are part of the game and there are no breaks in the consistens (alpha test shows it).

    Als erste Verwaltungseinheit besitzt die "Arkship-Org" (ich nenne Sie jetzt einfach mal so) das Arkship selbst und ein paar Hexagonfelder unter der Kuppel.
    Natürlich kann Sie Mitglieder aufnehmen und auch Legate bestimmen.
    Damit sind die Entwickler Teil des Spiels und es entstehen keine Brüche in der Konsistens (Alpha-Test zeigt es).

    That structure with the big of spacing appears to improve "readability" for me and maybe others, opposed to the brackets ([ and ]) and lack of space(s) between the translations.
     
    Probier es mal aus.

    as a 3D gamedesigner you have to speak english anyhow so why not start here? I think it's rude to just post something in german, but that's just me
     
    Read the devblog and the kickstarter/pledge page and watch the YT videos to get an idea of the game because
     
    Travel time:
    At first there are normal engines which take up to some hours to reach even the nearest planet to alioth
    Then we will invent (through skills and possible updates) the warpdrive which will take us to new solar systems (up to some weeks travel time) and it takes only minutes within a solar system with that drive
    Then there will be stargates which can transport you instantanously to a new system. Those gates are linked together (because of the probe mechanics to even build those gates).
    there are no anomalys planed for release and I think that's something for later updates.
     
    Energy:
    There are already different types of energy and fuel.
     
    Skills:
    They are time based as in eve online and it's a VERY VERY BAD idea if you want to introduce something like a "boss"/library/whatever where a player can find OP skills to train which NO OTHER player has access to. That's just BAD GAMEPLAY
     
    Ammo:
    Look at eve online: only because you use ammo, doesn't mean you do the same amount of damage.....there is EM ammo, thermal, explosive, ....

    bitte besuch einen Kurs oder sowas und lern die korrekte Rächtschraibung im Deutschen - es ist wirklich sehr grausig zu lesen und später im job tust dir nix gutes

    Although I'm fairly sure many of you know already, I'd like to point out that life can indeed survive in outer space. Since survival, life and existence aren't synonymous it doesn't necessarily help the topic, but in terms of sci-fi, we can make something out of it.


    Tardigrades are able to survive in the vacuum of outer space and under pressure six times greater than that on the highest pressure on earth (deepest part of the Mariana Trench) and temperatures from 1K to 400K. 
     

     
    These little critters are practically immortal, they can also survive radiation hundreds of times greater than the dose lethal to humans and they can go 30 years without food and water. They can live anywhere on earth, including volcanos, Antarctica and even underwater and in the deep sea. To be fair, they enter a phase of paralyzed / dried-up / cryosleep kind of state when in extreme situations, so they aren't essentially alive in the deepest sense.

    But if life like this exists on earth already, a science-fiction universe can create an exo-planet in which evolutionary processes are just slighlty more advanced (slightly in terms of evolutionary scales) that bring forth similar, extremely resistant creatures that have adapted to life in extreme environments and may just hold some of their organic functions similar to how whales stop their breathing underwater. The concept of the space whale is overall not too unrealistic.

    Hi, 
     
    Since we're talking about griefers and resource depletion here -and because some of you asked about this via other channels- here are some clarification about starting locations. 
     
    Please keep in mind that right now, the game design regarding the ability for new players to start at a new location hasn't been finalized at a 100% yet.
     
    Here are the options we're considering (again, this isn't final):
     
    - Newly discovered safe zones should be activated by players to become effective. Once a safe zone is activated, it can't be disabled. It might be possible to teleport a character from one safezone to another, but without bringing any object with the character (no resources or specific items, except the basic outfit and the Nanoformer).
     
    - The possibility for characters recently created in-game and who have joined a specific Organization might be able to teleport to a "spawn point unit" (again, without bringing anything except the basic outfit and the Nanoformer) built by the Organization, in a territory that it controls. Each new character will have only one opportunity to do so and if not used, this opportunity will be lost definitely after a certain time period after the character's creation (which is still to be determined but it should be a matter of weeks or a few months). 
     
    Once again, things are subject to change. We could end up using one of these or even both. Or maybe something different if we thought of a better solution. That's also why we'll have Alpha and Beta to get community's feedback. 
     
    I hope this helps to better understand what we have in mind.

This includes anything that can pass for a construct in Dual Universe, including but not limited to buildings, ships, hovercraft, space stations etc. It must be your own creation and must be made especially for this competition. In game screenshots and 3D modelling tools are allowed as long as the design is your own.
     
    Who is the competition open to?: Everyone that has an account on the forums. Cinderfall Syndicate administrators may enter the competition but are not eligible to win prizes.
     
    What do you need to do to enter?: Take a picture of your design and post the picture on this thread. One entry per person. No alts please
     
    What do you win?: game keys!

    When did it start?: 16th December 2016.

    Hi there,
     
    Just to clarify a few things, to avoid any misunderstanding.
    We don't want to enforce a strong censorship.
     
    The idea of playing a character with a journalistic role, intending to unravel the dark side of some organizations is very nice and can bring a lot to the community. However, to make it work (meaning: to be accepted by other players), there should be a few rules. One of the most important rule is to avoid mixing "in character" and "out of character" information, to avoid mixing "roleplay" and "IRL".
     
    The problem lies in some grey areas:
    What is said on Discord is often said "out of Character" (OOC). It's not in-game and it's often not roleplay. The moment "out of character" information is taken into account in a "in character" dialog or text, conflicts between players will rise: It won't be seen as roleplay anymore, but as an attempt to undermine or even discredit players, because it involves what the players say, not what their character say.
     
    It's the same as aiming at becoming the most infamous pirate in the game:
    To play the most hated scum of the galaxy doesn't mean you need to be rude with other players when talking to them "Out of Character", on a forum or any other media. Be courteous IRL, Be ruthless and rude in-game, and you will get your infamous reputation and be able to cultivate it. Be rude everywhere, and a majority of players won't even want to interact with you. 
     
    All in all: 
    - We hope to see journalist characters revealing the bad side of organizations in-game.
    - We hope to see infamous pirates causing troubles in-game.
    - However, we don't want to see unnecessary drama spreading on the forum or fueling them through the forum by using "Out of Character" stuff.
    Regarding the forum, except for the section about the Lore and Roleplay, the other sections should be considered "Out of Character".
     
    P.S: as it might not be obvious for non-native english speakers, "Out of Character" is used in the message above with the first definition described here in mind:

    I just wanted to show my progression on a wallpaper for my pc of the core unit I have been working on, Most of the model is finished but I need to add small textures such as the "D" and the "dynamic core unity" text on the outside. Also planning to add some nano former effects floating around it (as seen in some of the published videos) and alter the colours and make some for the static cube unit.
     
    Thoughts on which style would look better.

    I want to make this a mega thread of branding for the organizations in the game to get ideas for
    their branding. Please do not copy anyone's art fully without the creators permission. I want to make this thread a safe place for people to share there branding with others.
     
    (I am very new to the futuristic style of art but I will try my best to post logos and other branding ideas here)
     
    Style: futuristic flat , Abused flat
    - When I think of futuristic I think of flat clean looking art but there are also the places where this style doesn't extend to such as pirates , and aged industry branding
     
    How to chose your style:
    You will need to do research on what style you like so that you know before you start you won't have to scrap everything because it wasn't a style that fits you, it's all about the artist. If you feel like you like multiple styles try to combine them and/or make sample branding in both styles. I can't tell you how many times I have scraped entire UI folders because in the end the style didn't satisfy me. It all depends on how your eyes react to the colors , shapes , and story. Best places to look at styles in Google or art station.
     
    How to chose your colors:
    Another important factor in branding in your color. When you chose your colors try to go for colors that do nothing your eyes for most people it is bright white, yellow, and orange try to stay stay from these colors. When using white add some shade of any other color (gray and red) are best. So chose colors comfortable to look at (try not to use the colors that hurt eyes).
     
    How to chose your shapes:
    When you chose your style and color you need to chose/make shapes to combine together to make your branding. There are two types of shapes curved and sharp edged. Use which ever satisfies you. Another factor in shapes in shapes is font. Try to use clean (non cartoon) fonts for your branding as it has a more professional
     
     
    As myself, I will be working on perfecting my skills in making futuristic sharp flat branding/art style. Here is my first attempt at this style and I will be updating this post adding new branding in this style for people to gain inspiration to make their art as best as it can be. As an uninspired artist makes for the worst art.
     
     
    Please tell me what you think and share your branding you made in this thread to give others inspiration If you want me to I will continue to post my advancements in mastering this style. If you would like me to try and make branding for you private message me and I will see what I can make.
