I agree. Very, very promising with crazy potential. There will be people that play Dual Universe for the games within it.

In the video just released we saw that there was a button with a getState(), but not the door. Every item in the game should have a getState() function. Also every item should have tags and a list so I can do something like "close all exterior doors of the ship", "is there any door open?", etc.

There are more than just a few ideas for in-game games and there is quite a calling for gambling games.
 
DICE must ensure that such gambling games are fair (not a blatant quanta sink with no chance of payout) and that they are secure (they cannot be modified).
 
Since this is an MMO, more interactive games (like poker as an example) would also be interesting to add.
 
Individuals and organisations that wish to create in-game games are encouraged to contact DICE to ensure their works reach a wide audience.

I was going to make a new topic but I knew we already had one recently about this topic. Since we have just seen in the latest DevDiary that it will essentially be possible to directly insert our own images into the game and display them on screens, and everyone was discussing it in that thread, I feel like this thread needs a revival.
 
I am of the mind that NQ should lay out a set of guidelines for what is acceptable. Parading swastikas or hentai around the Arkship? Unacceptable. Parading those things around in your own private base? Questionable, yes... But if a tree falls down in the forest and no one hears it, does it make a noise?
 
I believe NQ and a select few others (new forum moderators?) should have the ability to respond to reports made by users. If the reported content is deemed offensive, then the content is removed and the user who created it is issued a warning, just as with any other infraction if they broke another rule.
 
This would of course require there to be a way to see who created what images.
 
 
While the swastika was originally quite innocent, it has gone the way of the name Hitler: offensive. No matter what it meant before or what it was used for, it is now associated with a regime which made it their goal to rid certain types of people from the planet because they were deemed sub-human, putting millions of people through unimaginable horrors. The Nazi party, and the war they started, caused Europe to completely rip to shreds. There are holidays in Europe that celebrate the ridding of the Nazi regime, and their swastika, from power. So yes, it was innocent, but there's a difference between being offended by a symbol associated with anti-gay marriage, and one associated with the racist genocide of millions. Also, I'm American.

Sandbox? LittleBigPlanet. My favorite game of all time. Best part about it is it can be any genre you want! I made bleak industrial stuff.

FTL: Faster Than Light. It's always there for some quick entertainment. 
Borderlands 1 and 2. I've beaten them so many times.
Spore and No Man's Sky I have love-hate relationships with... Great games in their own right, but could have been so much more.
Going way back, Battlefront II. Who hasn't played that, really?
Red Faction Guerrilla, only game I have for PC, Xbox, and PS3.
Halo: Reach. I never was into Halo as a kid, but Reach didn't need to be nostalgic for me to be totally engrossed by its story and soundtrack.

So, with the latest DevDiary showing a game of brick breaker running with ease... It is certain that DICE will have the opportunity to create quite an array of games or other organized entertainment for the citizens of Dual Universe. Has the recent reveal given the heads at DICE an awakening of ideas?

I think we are going a bit off topic here. Can we all agree that NQ has a right to remove anything that violates the ToS and leave it at that? Or at least move to the thread on this topic?

The new screens look amazing! Since it can load svg data I could theoretically recreate du-stats in game, or at least part of it. People can create games, or if we can hook sensor data into it we could make radar stations (sort of) that would give sensor readouts visually!

And the damage model is good to see too makes it so people have to be careful when they fly. Graphically, everything is looking good. 
 
Honestly, if you can get alpha out before SC gets their alpha 3.0 out, DU is going to make some huge waves in the gaming world. (And will anyways, but getting out before would put DU way ahead in 'the race')

This is super awesome! I've always loved reading backstories like this, like events of the near-future. It's just something I find entertaining, really gets the imagination going. Thanks so much for taking the time to make all this! It adds coolness and depth to an already awesome universe, helps with the roleplay and everything. I know a lot of people were waiting for this too, so we can probably expect to see a big burst of fan lore in the near future. Again, thank you Novaquark!
 
I just finished reading over everything. Really liked it! I enjoyed reading about the technologies that will help us to play the game (nanoformer, CYC, etc.), good explanations for those things that don't make much sense in real life but a game really needs. That, and the explanation for how the alpha will work. Clever!
 
I'm curious about two things: warp drives and skill "remembering". Warp drives being a possible future technology has me interested, as I thought FTL travel was only to be achieved by wormhole. And the possibility to "spend a few days" to "remember" some skills, I wonder how that's going to work.
