If nothing is associated with that "dirty state" then it's only a "feature" for roleplayers (and tbh I dont really see any reason to roleplay that, but ymmv) and everyone else just ignores it. If some negative effects come with it then its just adds to the tedious parts of the game as it's just "one more thing you have to do" (go clean yourself) without adding anything.

Thats why food mechanics ala "you have to eat every day to not die" are bad imho, as they dont add anything except chores

They keep pushing it back.  They originally said they would do it before CVC but im guess the 2 second latency between clients is making it very difficult for AVA.

It may not be obvious, but the user interface is one of the most important features of a game. More so then most any other feature, since it is the glue that keeps the game together. And is the one thing that all players must use all the time.  And besides, for a game this size there must be at least one dedicated UI/UX designer. So it is not a matter of focus on other tasks, and more a matter of doing the job proper.

And if they don't have a UX designer. Well it would explain a lot..

    The comparison is somewhat misleading.
You can't compare a game that should have been released in 2018 and will probably be released in 2022 with one that is over 20 years old. The pioneering work of Everquest, be it world creation, what a realm is, what groups are etc were things that didn't exist back then. The UI had no real meaning back then, even colourblind mode was a foreign concept.

NQ doesn't need to reinvent the things mentioned, like knowing what groups are, guilds are.... Heck, it's even an empty sandbox game without quests and npc.... What has NQ been doing all this time since august 2020? Not much has happened this time. Well, except for a lot of people leaving and few features coming, not really.

First impressions matter A LOT for keeping players interested until they get to know the game. And a streamlined convenient UX matters almost as much to keep veteran players from getting frustrated.

Last time I saw a UI as basic and cluncky as this was in Everquest...

I gave a UI feedback 2 to 3 years ago too. Nothing changed, it's still the same ui. 100% the same.

One of the problems for me is also that they advertise a "beta" version of the game which does not exist.
I came here for example because of this trailer:

It talks a lot about stuff that is simply not in the game and has been delayed after release.
For example they show atmo fights, talk about massive warfare with hundreds of ships and hint a lot in the direction of territory warfare. Features which are simply not there at all and will not be there in the near future.

They "crucified" him not for issues -- overall DU community was immensly tolerant on bugs and horrible perfomance for very long time.

People gone for him mostly for bad (lack of) comms and outright lying about game state, like ledengary "no red flags".

I will tell you an open secret. When NQ say they are looking for PTS player feedback, it is only an act to appear like they are listening.
Only game breaking crash bugs will sometimes be fixed, and in reality the feature is done and will be released exactly as presented on PTS.

Because NQ always knows best. And their way is the only way, even when they are frequently proven to be wrong and players are leaving in droves..

The asteroids are supposed to be bait.  If you don't want to get caught stop trying to eat the bait lol

You're not locked out of anything, except that one little thing.  You said you're not asking them to take away risk vs reward, but then you keep demanding the reward, without the risk.

If you can have all the rewards without any risk, then everyone else can too.  That breaks the game.

You will always be able to mine t1-t3 ore, and run missions, 100% risk free, all day.  And buy literally anything you need.

You're not locked out of anything except eating that delicious bait.  That's kind of how bait works.  You're supposed to want it.

Asteroids were meant to incentivize people to risk PVP.  The Asteroids literally broadcast your location to every PVPer in the game after you land on them.

You can explore, just don't fly straight down the pipe.  And make sure there aren't any pirates hiding on your ship when you take off. Or Warp and there's zero risk.  You can still mine any tier resources you want, just not on an asteroid.  If you want to buy the schematics you can craft anything you want.  If you don't, you can buy it.

For "Risk vs. Reward" to work, the reward for the risk, has to be bigger then the reward for not taking the risk.

If what you want is "the reward", without taking the risk, you can't have that.  You can still have all the stuff, you just can't have it as fast as someone willing to take the risk.

If that's a deal breaker for you, then this is definitely not the game for you.

those two are not the same thing and you know it. FFA pvp != griefer

no it doesn't support your argument at all. subs drop because there is nothing to do, or because ppl are bored. or because schematics are a nightmare to them....you don't know why they leave. it's just your personal bias that you think it supports your argument, which is a logical fallacy.

Again, pvp != griefers. don't conflate the two as they have NOTHING in common. If you constantly conflate those two then you constantly paint pvp players the wrong way

As someone else pointed out earlier:
PVP finally gets some attention after 7 YEARS and it needs WAY MORE than that as it still is a pretty boring and weak pillar of the game. Every other pillar and aspect of the game received way more attention and love than pvp - which is fine, because you first need a foundation first (and tbh that foundation is still not there but that's another topic).

DU was always meant to be a FFA pvp game with the vast majority of the game being in the pvp zone - and only a small portion of it being in safe zones. Those got extended already, which is totally fine. All that pvpers ask is a fun game where conflict over ressources, politics, wars and interesting, engaging, emergent and fun gameplay prevails. Which can't happen when everybody can do everything in the safe zone.

Are you being ridiculous ?! Breaking the game-exp of other players ? Realy ?

The asteroids of the PvP zone are precisely FOR bringing gameplay to the PvP players.

NOTHING FORCES YOU TO GO IN PVP ZONE IF YOU DON'T WANT PVP !

If you want to farm ore there are asteroids in the PvE zone, there are a dozen 100% safe planets, there are safe missions, there is the economy with the sale of ships or spare parts and the trading.

You come crying here because players in PvP area are doing PvP while this is an update made for those players to do exactly what they are doing !

For the same reason we'll get different weapons in 3 years when atmo pvp is a thing. There doesn't need to be a different element set for each environment. They could just change the values as you move through the atmosphere and have actual object detection so they dont fire straight through objects. NQ never does things the smart way.

It can't be just walking onto someones else's construct, it just cant. It is NQ's problem that they lack such basic mechanics as to deal with this, and pushing the problem over to the players is a systemic problem often displayed by NQ (like when they forgot to set proper rights on a market construct, and then blamed players for taking advantage).

This was already quoted in the post above, but I will quote it again since THIS is NQ/DU in a nutshell.

And it all boils down to one thing. And that is NQ's inability to prioritize and deliver in a timely fashion, compared to what you see and expect from other game developers.

Well, I still pop in from time to time, occasionally I’ll have a build of something, but it gets old very quickly. Ive been everywhere and cant face anymore laborious digging or smashing up my lovingly crafted ships on markets.
Things like my shuttles no longer docking to my agg ships in atmosphere, but dragging the kitchen sink from my space station, pending operations, glitchy flight dynamics and strangely disproportionate impact damage & unpredictable agg, unachievable expensive schematics and the monotony of having to go to markets constantly just suck the joy right out of the experience. Im not particularly interested in combat (not that I can afford it anyway) and the missions are just totally uninspiring.

    In a nutshell, its boring.

Which is a shame, because I think we all can see the potential, and why we keep coming back to see if it is improving...

Exactly. Being born and raised in one of the more socialistic countries in Europe with a higher Per capita income then most. Some of the stuff that happens in for example US, to us seems bat shit crazy and Orwellian. Or to put it frankly, their notion of freedom seem to be skin-deep compared to the legal rights and protections we take for granted here.

And as joaocordeiro also pointed out, there is no such thing as pure socialism or capitalism. Only varying degrees of both, with some countries showing signs of unhealthy large percentage in one direction or the other. But data shows that countries with strong economics and a functional public health care system tend to lean towards the socialist side.

These are not minor bugs.   These are bugs that should be caught during fundamental testing of systems.   They are bugs that are expected to happen, and universally do happen in untested games regardless of genre/type of game.   You release an MMO into an "unwiping" release of any kind without testing for the expected types of item duplication/authority/movement bugs that have been happening since MUDs in the 1990s/earlier.   (It's like the developers decided to not learn lessons from their peers).

When a character swap states that could invalidate an action (IE: putting stuff in a linked container...   After a respawn or login puts you out of range of said container), you check and test that those actions are properly invalidated.   "What happens to X after death" will be one of the first things a tester/exploiter will ask.
