    this tbh

cities don't serve any purpose whatsoever with current mechanics. except for RP purposes maybe, but noone needs special "rooms" for anything in the game right now. you don't need gathering halls, tactical command centers or anything alike. nothing a city provides serves any purpose. Same goes for spacestations. All players really need is storage and landing pads. Everything else is completely useless

    EDIT:
oh and besides the technical limitation of the single shard server - I very much doubt that cities will ever work where more than 2000 ppl concurrently do stuff within 1km of each other. lagfest ftw. see market 6

The deployment of BP is a problem I agree with you.

But to the question why there is no city?

The answer is quite simple. There is simply no point in having one in the game.

There is no mechanic that will make players live close to each other.

The only needs are storage / Factory.

Markets are NQ installations whereas it could have been up to the player to manage them for example.

I completely respect your pacifism and agree with many of your views.

However many if not the majority of people enjoy combat in the gaming industry. Not because they enjoy griefing other people but because there is a certain disconnect from seeing it as violence but rather a set of challenges, strategic thinking and battle of skills and will’s.

When people have expensive ships or even reputations at risk a certain adrenaline rush can kick in while playing combat making some of the most exciting moments in the game. To limit this would be like putting a 5mph speed limit on a roller coaster.

Dual Universe simply needs healthy and most of all competitive / fun combat systems if the game can even hope to be successful enough to keep the lights on and the servers open.

In games, I also like to PVP. But cannot thanks to those weirdos who control areas and keep them and those resources just for themselves in the safezone. those acts are what keepp societies ingame and in real life back. We humans are divided in normal people and in "yesterday" people that are still driven and inspired by building and all such, less developed like normal people. hey, too, are part of us humans, so we accept them among us, but they bring just suffering and pain. There is not much more I need to say about that.

If this is anything like detroit michigan, 'warlord' would probably be more apt.

For all intents and purposes, the world in which humanity exists in is very much PVP orientated. While a smattering of civil safe spaces do exist, those are not inpregnible beyond the application of a given amount of force by anyone determined enough.

In the civilian world, civilization is generally upheld by the acceptance of various rules and regulations. Then there's the ~1% of the US population (2.3M, based on 2020 data, I also use US data because we have the highest incarceration rate worldwide) that thinks they are beyond the rules. While a fair amount are locked up for things like drug offenses, simple possession, and other various self-harms or even non-harms respectively, you have your other crowd that puts innocent people in danger.

While the rules in place to maintain orderly civilization exist, it is important to note that they can be freely broken, even in areas of high protection and regulation. Indeed, the only hard limits that exist really come down to our technology and imagination. There are no truly safe spaces when it comes to humanity, we are deceptive, cunning, intelligent, and a whole lot of other adjectives.

We like to consider our homes relatively safe. They have windows and doors, both with locks on them and surrounded by walls to protect what's inside from what's outside. While various measures can be taken to protect your home without turning it into a fortress, home invasions and burglaries still occur.

Exiting the privacy of our own homes the private sector plays host to a variety of security zones from completely undefended to active and visual protection. If you think 'America' and 'pvp', one of the first things that comes to mind which I'm reluctant to discuss, is the multitude of shootings you've probably seen in the news over the years. When the pressures of conformity from society are rejected and non-active security measures are ignored or bypassed altogether, what puts down a bad guy with a gun is usually a good guy with a gun. This can come from either a member of the general public or the civil authority.

Speaking of which, while bastions of the civil authorities are generally very well protected, in America recent riots and occupations of such areas in recent months and years by 'hostile' forces have proven these areas not always so secure.

Stepping things up a level to military instillations, incidents in 1995 and as recently as 2018 where individuals ended up commandeering armored vehicles without prior authorization and putting the public in danger.

Again, we occupy a distinctly PVP world because we are a distinctly PVP orientated species. If we did not spec up in the form of PVP required aspects, then our ancestors would not have survived this world which is filled with animals (PVP), dangerous landscapes (PVE), and a changing and hostile climate (PVE). Why you don't see people killing people everywhere is due to the afore mentioned pressures of civilization. While we have the means to easily take another persons life, we are expected to follow within a set of rules where without such there would be anarchy.

The barista that made your coffee, do you think they're out to get you? Did they add a drop of poison to your fancy and expensive frozen whipped cream carmel covered mochahopafropakappahappasuperduperfreakyexpensivelatte? Are they out to engage in PVP with you, or are you just another person of the thousand that they'll meet today, some of whom they'll never meet again? I don't think they tainted your morning joe, what would they have to gain from that, more importantly, what would they have to lose?

This is turning into a rant isn't it?... I could go on and on, but simply put, this is a bad idea. While the idea of perpetual safety is great, it's impossible since it will lead to almost zero economic churn, prices will crash since sales aren't being made, profit isn't being made so supply isn't being generated because its a waste of time and production then becomes a matter of individuals. You building everything you want to build, do everything you want to do, then what?

Games only have 'moments' that people remember and keep playing because what-happened-happened whether it was good or bad. It was exciting and unexpected. Maybe one party didn't find that the case and all their time and work went up in smoke, same thing happens IRL too, learn from it and maybe next time take preventive measures too.

As a rescuer, I don't find the idea of someone shooting me and making off with my stuff too pleasant. Now I need rescuing, the person I'm rescuing needs to wait longer, our org is both down a ship and supplies, and needs to make another dispatch to pick up the pieces. We don't put guns on our stuff, but we do fly with folks who do. We take steps like flying outside the pipes to reduce the chance for an interception, we remember the names of those who wrong us, and any time we get knocked down, we look what went wrong to see if we can't make it right next time.

What is the vision for this game now, after the changes at NQ and JC not being at the forefront of things it feels as though the vision may have changed? Can you confirm or deny this and elaborate on why or why not?

Will we ever get new tools that industrialists can make and sell for players?

Why do we have a limited 2 SU radar scan range? This is too limiting it should be increased 10-fold and then introduce jamming capabilities. I’ve suggested before that the navigator chair that currently does nothing should have a UI (and let me be clear this should be an interactive UI with gameplay mechanics) that allows the navigator to jam radar, provide interdiction capabilities and even scan a ship for additional information. Another level of immersion, another profession.

Why does the size of guns limit the range? The range should not be limited by the size but only the tier and type of weapon. This would alleviate the problems with L core L Weapons immediately. The size of the weapons should be about damage, reload, tracking, rate of fire etc. and the range should be based on the tier of the weapon. This allows the M Core underdog with medium lasers the ability to fight with a L Core ship with L Lasers instead of the L Core simply sitting at range and the M core has no means of firing back until they have taken immense damage before even being able to fire back. Yes, there should be damage falloff, but close the range gap. Increase the ammo types’ ability for increasing range so that the gap between the other weapons is decreased. Even if every weapon could reach out to the same range the damage at those ranges will vary wildly – that is a good thing.. This introduces skill and getting at least a hit on someone to keep them from jumping so that the underdog can try to swarm that exotic wielding L Core with a couple S cores. As currently any L Core with L Weapons and max talents could be all reward and no risk.

What about Gems? What can you tell us about them, what will they likely be used for?

What is Thoramine even for? There was this big event over it and for a brief period there was some hype around it. and now ZERO. nothing. no mention no harkening back to it. nothing. what was the point? If the only point was the prize at the end of a puzzle NQ thought would take longer for us to solve – got it but either way still a letdown. Especially because it continues to show on the scan tool but there’s nothing to do with it.

What happened to the idea of Power? Where is it? When is it? What is it? Why is it?

Can we expect to get different types of shields, different colors for different types? Plasma Shields, Ray shielding whatever sci fi terms we want to use to differentiate shields that are more niche but bring some fun gameplay about. I don’t just mean uncommon, advanced, exotic and rare, that’s great and all but give us varying types that are immersive and induce maybe a little lore. Let us find some alien tech and we can start creating these newfound alien shields and start selling on the market.

What happened to the pillars of the game?  It seems as though the focus has become much more narrowed and shallower at that.

How come we don’t have AvA? This is a fundamental part of the game as it was originally conveyed. AvA allows you to protect yourself from being boarded or having a ship stolen etc. etc. We would not require these boarding permissions; my gun is my boarding permission. Your gun is yours. Let’s see who wins – oh wait you shot me and stole my ship in safe space, you now have an automatic enormous bounty on your head. If it happened in the PvP areas, then when I respawn, I can put a bounty on your head, and this creates more content. The Bounty Hunter could be told who the original owner was, and they could even return the ship should they choose – will you allow us this level of gameplay ever?

What about the incentives for owning a hex? Why should I want this hex over that hex – resources aren’t a reason. There should be more of a reason. Once the resources are gone, there is no longer a reason so that is not good enough. What will be the incentive when territory warfare comes? Does locating a factory near the water increase productivity when some element is placed near my base that requires a body of water near it to produce reduction in heat that helps the factory operate better or what? Give us something that immerses us more!

I remember watching you tube videos of this game before I ever bought in. NQ Dual Universe YouTube back when things were in Alpha. There was an hours long video of two people building a base into an asteroid. Why is this not a thing? Why won’t it be, or will it be?

When will we get Exotic Engines?

Will we ever get hybrid space/atmo engines and brakes?

Will we ever be able to research technology to allow us to create schematics that let us create new and exciting elements like the hybrid space/atmo elements mentioned above or new tools for the character, a better jetpack or whatever?

Will we ever get different style canopies that also allow 3rd person?

Will we ever be able to go above 30k without warping? Why can’t we get a Super Cruise speed that has its pros and cons that allows us to travel somewhere between 30k and warp?

Why can I create things out of thin air in my nano pack but a laser drill for my ship is out of the question and we’re stuck hand mining? This doesn’t make sense. It feels very arbitrary.

When are you going to show the player base that you can be creative and develop immersive gameplay mechanics that will provide fun and engaging content? What’s to keep us here? Why should we continue to hold out hope, can you give us some hope? Please.

    1. When will we actually see a player count?

    2. Why are their so much graphical updates over the course of Beta Rather than actual game play?

    3. When will the players who do pay a monthly have their voice heard over the huge amount of crashes?

    4. Will NQ be more honest on what the games outlook is rather than watching players argue in the discord due to the lack of communication provided by the Devs?

    5. When will decide that the game needs a fresh start and the engine redone so it don't crash on so many people?

    6. Why ban over bugs in game created by the games DEVS during what is supposed to be a test period?

    7. Why ban over talking about the bug in general? How else are you going to find out how to fix during the test period? Very counter productive.
Banning should only be done during release. Otherwise you kill off your players who would promote your game........... Literally

    8. Why did the Devs focus on game play based around work (Farming) rather than fun such as AVA?

    9. If the game play doesn't exist now and you have severe bugs with this foundation how do you intend on adding new game play with that foundation?

    10. Will you ever answer any of these?

Way off the mark on the idea here. Your suggestion would literally be the end of the game / final nail in the coffin.

A suggestion would be rather than trying to come up with a hard barrier to pvp, think of ways NQ could add some more cat and mouse gameplay in too it. How can people who want to avoid combat in contested territory keep themselves undetected from putting in effort to do so?

One of the biggest problems with Combat is how basic it is. If you have looked at combat screen you know what I mean. NQ has only just implemented 1 feature that makes you make 1 decision during combat, when to vent shield. We need many many more choices / options and more immersive systems in combat before NQ can even think about slapping a bunch of server generated ships around with an AI bolted on since the PvP combat system will be the foundation of any hope of a PVE combat system. Get one right before you do the other.
