NQ probably hasn't even started on the garbage collection, but that doesn't mean they might throw some crap together a "patch" and everything be gone in a month. They don't communicate anything until it's already here.

I just don't understand why NQ spend precious resources and development time on these features that concern barely a few percents of the player base and add only complexity and new bugs.
It's like industries, you claim it's for 10%  of the player base but so far it has consumed way more than 10% of the development effort…

Spend the investment and dev ressources where it matters for most of the players not a few ones.

That been said, imho, DRM are useless and unneeded complexity considering how they're implemented. You just need to do a better voxel editor … I don't think in-game creations should 'protected' at all because we can never guarantee who made what. It's not because someone  is protecting some voxels or code that he is really the rightful creator. IRL they are laws and law enforcing systems in place but we can't have those in-game.

Anyway a blueprint is a design document between a designer and a manufacturer, it's not for end users.
When you buy an IPhone you don't buy a BP of an IPhone, you buy a functional and working IPhone. The IPhone BP is between Apple and Foxconn and it doesn't need DRM, it's based on trust and contract between them.

This should be the same in-game, encouraging designers and manufacturers to work together based on trust (social gameplay in a mmo... too much?), instead of promoting a 'solo play style for designers' that this DRM system is clearly made for. Be consistent in your game design balance between solo pay and group play.

If you really want to 'protect' a product voxels from been too easily duplicated a simpler solution exists than DRMs:

    - allow constructs to be 'sealed' forever: a sealed construct cannot be modified at all,  no  ''b"  mode at all. you can replace broken or not elements with same type elements (allowing customization variation like military version of an element) with the repair tool. This promotes more production of ships and more demands on elements and parts since nothing in a sealed construct can be reused in another construct. A salvage/recycle system can be added to get back some raw materials/parts eventually. People who want a ship they can modify will have to build it themselves or find someone to give them a BP or an unsealed construct. A small construct (sealed or not)  can be 'compactified' to be sold directly by p2p trade or via dispensers/markets. A bigger construct, sealed or not, can be put in 'for sale' mode ; it works like tokenization but anyone can right-click menu + buy the construct (owner would first need to right-clck menu -> "set for sale"  -> set the price -> confirm).

    - the LUA of seats and PBs of a sealed construct can't be modified  unless they're wiped first. This allows the end user to eventually change the 'software' without been able to see the original software.

But imho there should be no protection at all in the game. Every piece of lua code in game should be freely readable by anyone.  Same for voxels. This promotes open source , innovations, security, bug correction and fairness. I know some people have a hard time understanding this but try to think more than 5 minutes about this. (and anyway the lore of the game is about humanity rebuilding so you really think survivors and settlers would bother with DRM?).

NQ, if you could make only one more change ever in your game, this is the one you should make.

There can be no 'community' without communication.

Core destruction in crashes is vile atm, especially if you're in anything larger than XS and crash on a planet/moon with no cores on the 'local' markets.
Especially given the seemingly random way the game assigns damage during crashes.

The biggest issue is not the subscription cost. It was said there will not be a wipe in this beta so people invested time and effort in the game, treating it as a release. The amount of effort many people put into this game far outweights the subscription cost. People felt like all of their effort had been wasted. This is why the backlash is so intense.

    Seems nice.
But can we have tools to communicate in the game ? We  can't leave a message to someone that is not connected, or even talk to someone that is not in our friend list or near us. It's the only MMO i know where the players can't really communicate in the game. ??

The big issue for me is that .23 left me in a state where I am completely stranded, as I do not have a space-capable ship, a factory that doesn't work anymore, and no schematics are seed on my planet (jago).

Can you at least seed t1 schemas on all markets (or at least one per planet/moon) so people aren't stranded anymore?

I completely disagree. Since most crashes are caused by bugs - at least for me... maybe the rest of you are sloppy pilots - we shouldn't be penalized for that.

Overall, the proposed changes look good.

I'm also not convinced that feedback from ATV hasn't hurt the game more than helped it.

PvP I can understand, crashes not so much. If they're going for realism, ok, but it's a game where people want to escape real life.

Also, it's on me where I spend my money. If the devs really don't want it, they can take the game in a direction I don't agree with.

No I'm not blowing it out of proportion. Learning to fly, people crash, or at least I did several times. If this were implemented, my stuff would've been destroyed and would've been forced to buy new stuff with extremely limited money. This will hurt new players coming into the game since destruction happens from a simple crash. It's going to discourage new players and they won't stick around.

I agree with others, we need renewable resources before a resource sink comes into play. Resources going out without new resources coming in is a terrible recipe and will make the game unattractive at this time. I'd probably cancel my sub and go play something else until renewables are implemented.

Aside from that, the roadmap is starting to look more and more like Eve. If I wanted to play Eve, I'd be playing it.

I am for it with a caveat fix the network/server/Software bugs. With 2 exceptions my big ship mishaps have been hitting something not loaded in (Towers anyone) landing underground and then getting pushed out gets the ship destroyed (slow loading of terren I guess) Mountains out of nowhere. I'm a builder/Miner If I have to budget for a ship every couple of runs I cannot stay competitive on pricing

The help-Support Channel is going to get busier with people asking to have their ships repaired/restored because of server lag crashes. This will also probably be abused by people who just want their stuff back and will try to dupe the system.

The sheer amount of time it takes to craft some items, I think some people will just give up. It's ok if you have an Org to help with resupply but people that prefer a more solo type of gameplay are in for a rough time.

What happens to talent points spent on improving repair skills or the time and resources spent crafting repair units? These are far less appealing/useful with this system and the points may feel wasted.

Then there's new players, their first ship, taken a month to get the mats together, not used to flying and boom, their ship is destroyed and they're back to square one.

Nice idea further down the line but I think some of the creases need to be ironed out before this kind of thing goes live.  This is just funneling people into a specific playstyle, you must have an org or it will just be a grind, you must instantly be proficient at flying etc.
