Another big challenge i bet will be keeping the weather OUT of ships and buildings.

I definitely don't want rain and cloud effects coming through walls into an enclosed space i've built.

In one of the other videos when they go inside the large space station you can see some of the decorative (mesh) elements used to create the interior corridors.  So if you want you'll be able to simply plop down an element to decorate a corridor.

But also if you were to build/decorate a corridor yourself out of voxels like in the video you could save a portion of it (make your own preset) and copy/paste it to speed things up.

All the textures and lighting look amazing already.  Damn i can't wait to play with those voxels.

    So many questions though.

I wonder how Gravity will work off of planets on asteroids or space stations?

How much movement will there be in a solar system.  Will things like that asteroid be spinning or orbiting a planet eventually?

Will planets rotate and orbit their sun?

Seriously, can people (youtubers, article writers, blog posters etc) stop comparing any f*cking space-related game to no man's sky when the core mechanics and focus of games involved are clearly unrelated ?

Jeez... I have nothing against the game itself, but I'm sick of this NMS trend... It's litterally everywhere, especially where unrelevant !

EDIT: sorry, I slightly derailed the topic, I didn't even bother reading the article... The title itself turned me down... I took my chill pill and gonna read it now.

Trying to leverage your pledge to force NQ to do what you want definitely shows a lack of respect for them.

Imagine if that actually worked... what a horrible game we would end up with, if they caved in to every demand?

I would love to see more video of them doing more complicated building but we don't have that yet.  Personally i hope it's because they are busy working on letting us actually play the game ourselves.

To many other companies these days are happy to spend thousands producing videos of things they haven't even started yet.

I'm sure this has already been said fifteen times.

But to be honest i think the game is a lot better off without a "community" run by someone who's first move is to pledge without reading anything, and then threaten to cancel the pledge if the game isn't immediately molded to meet your expectations.

So many valid points here, I would also like to see what they want to do about people in the Arc safe-zone that are literally flying around and hindering peoples construction.

That's not why they're bad. They're bad because they are notorius for being risk averse and uninventive. EA are especially infamous for making bland and terrible games.

This topic has already been discussed in great detail in several threads. I would recommend taking a good look at it in the existing threads.

In short, they are basing their business model off of Eve Onile's model, which was quite successful. There is a way for players to play without paying a monthly subscription. Players will be able to buy a one month subscription (called a DAC) and sell it on the in-game market place for in-game money. If a player works hard enough in-game, they will be able to cover their monthly subscriptions that way. Players who are willing to put in the time to grind will be able to buy DAC's off of players who have IRL money but don't have that much time to play. neat tradeoff right? Similarly, one of my Orgs is designed to provide players with DAC's in exchange for raw/refined material.

It all comes down to this: their business model is pretty much set in stone. It isn't up for debate, players backing the project should all be on the same page on this one. There are plenty of F2P games out there, many of them are garbage, and this won't be one of them.

    No,
it's not actually. It may seem that way. But this allows the developers continued support of a playerbase that knows what they are playing.
EvE, WoW, etc. have survived and even thrived on this method of Payment. Why wouldn't they do it? MMOs require huge monthly upkeep for all aspects, they pay for the servers, the pay their employees to make content. As well as the usual bills, etc.

One off payments give you a huge balance to begin with, then the payments drop off significantly, thus making them have to budget the initial money to stretch for 5 - 10 years, which is not easy.

Plus, I'd prefer P2P to having them release a game at 60 - 80 dollars and then have 5 DLCs at 30 each.

    This is a fine method.

**Edit: Yes, it may make it hard for the player, but guess what? Can't afford it for a month, you can make the money to buy game time in game or you just don't pay the sub till you can afford it.

I know it's rare these days but it is actually possible to create a product that is successful because it's GOOD and people are happy after they buy it.  Not just because of internet hype.

I am definitely glad they are letting people save Blueprints through launch.  Wiping progression and inventories is the way to go but wiping something creative like blueprints would just be depressing.

Anyone who participates in an Alpha or Beta will always have an advantage just because of familiarity with the game anyway.

The thing i found about saving designs in Landmark was that most of the time when i dig up a really old one and place it i immediately think it looks horrible and that i can do it way better now anyway.  So a lot of my older designs really just end up being souvenirs.

Am I the only one that has no issue with anyone's language? If spanish speaking people want a thread to discuss in their native language for ease of understanding, we should encourage that. Spread the word in all the languages we can in the forums, but keep the language to english outside of the language specific threads for global ease of use sake's.
